Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mitch just happened so quickly. Was there any inclination on
your part to kind of shop your services around and
what looked to be a pretty quarterback friendly market or
did you have your on Pittsburgh all along? I had
my in Pittsburgh definitely. Uh. Just going through the process
was my agent. We talked through where would be a
best fit, where I could come in compete and get
back on the field, but also be a part of
(00:21):
a winning franchise, and Pittsburgh checked all these boxes. So
I'm happy to be here and I can't wait to
get started. I've heard just say you researched culture. I'm
curious how exactly is that accomplished. Yeah, you talked to
friends and teammates and guys who have been here, and
you just get reviews on the coaching staff, the people
(00:42):
in the building and everybody that you come in contact
with on a daily basis. And I got great reviews
out of Pittsburgh. They say it's definitely a place you
want to be. Uh. They take care of the players
there and when you come into a new situation and
you just want to be welcome to, uh, welcomed in
like a family atmosphere and I felt that already. It's
being in the first day, so I feel the family
(01:02):
atmosphere and I could tell it's a great culture and
I'm looking to be a part of that. How many
coordinators and or play coolers did you play for in
four years with the Bears? Uh? I think like three
to two or three fair amount? Right? Yeah? I got
amount and did that kind of help you in the
long run. I know it's probably difficult to go through
(01:22):
at the time, but yeah, I think it's probably seen
and done more than a guy your age. I think
when you change coordinators, you learn new offenses, and I
think that each time you learn a new offense, it
gets easier and easier because you're to pick things up
and you learn techniques and how to how to study
and how to memorize the plays and the formations and
all that. So I think each time I've learned a
(01:43):
new offense, I've picked it up quicker and quicker. So
I'm looking forward to again with Coach Canada and learning
this offense and diving in ran away. So when we
get in the O t as, we can hit the
ground running. So uh, I'm definitely gonna draw my past
experiences in Chicago and Buffalo and and and use them
here to to help the Steelers. Jim. I was talking
to Jim Miller about you, and he said that he
(02:03):
thought the Bears were kind of forced feeding throw from
the pocket to you, and he thought you'd have been
better used getting out on the wing more playing move quarterback.
You have both skill sets. You have a preference as
to the game you'd like to play. Is it is
it play action boot and let's let's see what happens,
or do you want to kind of sit back into
pocket and dissect. Yeah, I love the play action the
(02:23):
r p O, but I think you've got to be
able to do it all. And I think when when
you when you have the ability to move the pocket,
I think you should and uh and that just makes
it easier throwing from the pocket when you move the pocket.
So um, you gotta do whatever you can on offense
to keep the defense guessing and going down and scoring points.
But I definitely have the ability to throw on the
run and move the pocket, so I hope we can
(02:45):
do that. And I definitely love the play action in
r p O, So I'm looking forward to diving into
the offense and seeing what we can cook up with
Coach Canada. Jamalsa said he thought that you're spending Buffalo
would be really beneficial just in terms of kind of exhaling, rebooting, restarting,
however you want to phrase it. Do you feel like
you're coming out of this now recharged if you will?
(03:06):
I do. I feel refreshed. I feel recharged. I feel
like I've learned a lot in Buffalo and it's just
gonna help me, uh for this next opportunity. And uh,
it was. It was an incredible offense and Buffalo and
I've learned a lot from Coach Table and Coach Dorsey,
and I'm looking forward to using everything I learned there
and and instilling it here. So it's it's gonna be
a lot of fun. Josh, you won't do some things
(03:28):
that look familiar to you. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of
RPO moved the pocket quarterback runs, so that's all that
fun stuff that I like to do too, So hopefully
we can include some of that. And uh, like I said,
it's a great offense, and I'm sure what we do
here is gonna be awesome as well. Mich I don't
know how well you've kept up with what's going on
around the signing of Mr Robisky. This team is a
(03:50):
lot different than the one you've researched and then when
you signed with. What do you think of what's going
on here so far? This office, It's awesome. I mean,
I always get excited when we add lineman, so I
love my whole I'm in. We got Mason Cole who
I met this morning, and James Daniels, so I'm looking
forward to getting with those guys and and the rest
of the old lineman I met choose this morning. So
it sounds like we've got a great group, and I'm
(04:10):
looking forward to meeting the other guys and just get
and get started.
