Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's go to the Dean of Tahoo who I'm
talking out at the ADATAI College formerly Linwood College, and
the great man himself who was going to be playing
his five hundredth club rugby match. Is Robbie Timor Robbie
good morning, good morning, well man, you're fifty years of

(00:20):
age and you're going to play your five hundredths.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yes, it's been a long time coming, but yeah, I'm
just looking forward to getting out there and getting on
the paddick and doing what it can for the team
and then having a good night to celebrate.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Now, I looked back into my files and twenty nineteen
we chatted to you and that was on the occasion
of your four hundred and sixty six. So what has
happened between then and now?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
We've just been on and off during the season, hopping
out for our two boys in our Sharks and sort
of just trying to keep fitting healthy throughout the years.
Between now and then.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
What grade are you playing on Saturday?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
So I'll be playing the two on Saturday and been
playing most of it this year.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
And whereabouts are you know? What position?

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I'm playing? Prop? So I've been either lucy or tidy,
but mostly it tidied criky.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
You are looking for punishment.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Right, good. I enjoy it so makes it so much
easier when you enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Oh absolutely, I mean you wouldn't do it otherwise. But
your body must be holding up really well.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, very lucky. Just I think to the earlier years,
doing lots of running and swimming has helped.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Do you have any regime now, because I know a
lot of older rugby players are heavily and stretching and
even yoga.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, stretching, yoga, anything that helps. Recovery in the pool
on a Sunday's always nice at Q two the recovery
pool and just a star or sauna that always helps.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
So just remind our listeners where you started, Where have
you come from?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
When I first started, I was playing senior rugby for
Albion for a couple of seasons and then ended up
at New Brighton playing senior rugby there, and then ended
up out at summer was a bunch of friends of
mineho bought a house out there on Cambell Street, and
I noticed there was a club down the road and
I could watch training. So I walked in one day
and decided to sign up with a couple of mates

(02:10):
and then ended up playing for somewn a social setting
which was which was really nice.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Oh fantastic. So is this five hundred all all your
games amongst all those clubs that you've just mentioned.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Mostly for summer, all of the games for summer, right.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
And how is the some of the clubs generally overall
and good heart?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Oh? Absolutely, it's really good heart. I mean, we have
a colts team that's been really good. We have the
ones that have been playing really well this season. Sharks
rugby's been up and down with numbers, but that those
boys still hanging there, and our junior section is really strong.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Have you ever incurred a serious injury?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I think the worst is just pulling a hamstring or
just the carve muscle. Pointing Cardinals was mostly just that's
that's probably the worst. I think I had a color
bone that's been sort of popped out, but I think
everyone gets that. But that's been the worst.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Oh gosh. I think your long juvity is just simply amazing.
I mean, you are the true club band, right.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I love the club the club scene. It's it's very good.
And I've made a lot of friends through the different clubs.
And each club I'm going to it, there's always somebody
I know, and especially you know the people, the volunteers
and everybody that makes club rugby special. It's good to
know them and having known since since I first started,
which has been the biggest thing. Termin those relationships from

(03:33):
the beginning that are still strong as ever now.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
And when you're in the front row and engaged. Is
there a bit of benter on that front row?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Oh? Absolutely. I think I remember coming on for a
game against Friends Side out at Friendside and I remember
the captain, their captain was shaking my hand before we
sit the first grum and I think because of my
age and he knew how old I was and how
long I've been around, So that was nice.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Well, particularly apart from looking at after the year eight
Tata Tie College. What else do you do at the college?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
At the college, we know we've got our seminate rugby
team that plays on a Tuesday afternoon. Take care of them.
Just help out where I can. At the school, the
dealings takes up a lot of time with partial and
making sure the kids are on track and the parents
are informed and keep our community involved in the school.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Fantastic. Hey just before you go, if I can get
some quick predictions from you, given what's what's happening this weekend.
So Blues Brumbies, how do you see that going in
the Super Round?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Blues Blues. I think Sandari will step up for the
Blues and that four packle beyond fire.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Already Hurricanes Chiefs, well, that's going to be closer and
I think that's going to be the big one to
find out.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I think hopefully we hopefully Hurricanes have had such a
bit good year, so hopefully they did to Hurricanes.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Hurricanes. Yep? Can it rams up against the one or
two jets? The range is that going for twelve?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Especially the scene they had last year. I've watched every
bit at that and just thought that's amazing. They are
on fire.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
It is fantastic, isn't it. Warriors Storm, Warriors Storm.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm going for the Warriors waiting to have it. So
I think they'll keep going all right.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
And a very big nipple match on Sunday at it
will book Arena Tactics Pulse top of the table. Who
do you see taking that out? Good night, Gil's going
really well, love your work obviously. The Dolphins last night
they beat the Shape of thirty twenty eight. Was that
a surprise for you?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
No? I think that was It was always going to
be close, but they did get through, which was good.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
The match Friday Night is Raiders hosting Cowboys, so that's
for versus twelve. How do you see that going are?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
I think the Raiders one okay, and.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
The other Friday night matches Rabbitos at home to the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yes, it's going to be a big one. I think
the Broncos might come through.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
A map all away from home, okay. Wes Tigers terrible
up against the Titans.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah. The Target's having a year, so the Titans will come.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
To one okay, and you've already predicted the Warriors yep, yep,
good man and Eels Roosters on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah, I think the Eels are coming into form.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Now, Fantesta, and then see Eagles at home to the
Dragons eleventh night. That's going to be a closer way.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
That's going to be a question. But I'll see Eagles okay.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
And then the night's Panthers.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah the Panthers too strong.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Alrighty oh, look that's fantastic Robbie, Timmy. We just wish
you all the very best, and you clearly want to
keep on playing. So you hit the five hundred on Saturday.
How many more are how many more games are on you?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Who knows? I think this might be my last year,
but I think I said that all the time, but
I'm sure it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Who knows. Who knows. You're a great man, and thank
you so much for taking our call. We really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Thank you, le love your work. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I've clicked that off now. Thank you so much. Nothing
else that I should have asked that I.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Didn't, no much everything.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I think that's really cool. We do. We take our
hat off to you. Honestly, it's just phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, I was quickly it's come around, but I still
remember my first going down that summer and what it
was like and how young the club was in the community,
you know, and then how much it's grown. That's been
the big journey is watching it all grow and you know,
having a one two side and cults. That's been the
best thing to see grow.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah. In the end, that's what club lends about, isn't it.
It's not just about them now, it's what you create
for the future, for the other people.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Coming through. That's right, that's right. And having raised there,
who's the all black coach now, that's amazing JOENI for him,
but also for the club as well.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Oh very good. Oh look, thank you so much. I'll
let you get back to what you're really meant to
be doing and we're just really grateful for the time.
Thank you. Okay, thank you, Okay. See for more from
