Speaker 1 (00:00):
To board.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I really appreciate you picking up the phone. You're here
in christ Church with us. Can you just talk to
your emotions and the emotions of Cody's immediate family this week.
I can only imagine you're just bursting with pride.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yes, you create your just all very very proud, just
kicked them into his commitment and his passion for the game.
And you know his drive energy, always wanted to be
an All Black. So yeah, immensely proud.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It's interesting it isn't about his journey talk us through
for our listeners who aren't family obviously from the living area.
But you went over to Australia and then came back.
But Cody obviously always as you say there, had had
big ambitions on the Black Jersey in particular.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, to take you for six months old when we
to Australia and got into a league. While we're over
there for a few years, and then moved back here
to New Zealand and to our hometown woman and started
playing club rugby and from there, you know, the passion
(01:06):
for the game just grew. At high school is really
where it really took off.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, Cody mentioned in that interview we played just before
how important the role that yourself and his mum had
in those early days helping out, whether it was at
a gym session which sounded pretty entertaining, or coaching junior teams,
or just being around mum at at the netball courts.
I can only imagine myself as a dad to a
young two year old. It must be pretty cool to
hear those things from your son.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
It is. It was all all him when he decided
that's what he wanted to be and Chase that dream
was all him. He just wanted to get out there
and do everything, and I was just happy to help. Well,
we were all as all family.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
We're just happy to help Nathan Taylor with us around
the Canterbury All Sports Breakfast. Obviously he's a very proud
man of his roots of the hodophan No region Nathan,
but he has made special mention of the role that
that Canterbury has had in his rugby development. People like
Angus Gardner, Matt Sixth and Jason Ryan, those involved in
Canterbury and the Crusaders that you've moved down here too. Now,
(02:11):
how big has the Canterbury and Crusader's rugby environment been
in your in your mind? And getting the best out
of Cody.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Ah that big steps a really fantastic You couldn't say
enough of the environments out was actually met sixth and
that was the one that got him down here and.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Wanted to get him into the Canterbury. Canterbury and Jase
caught up with when he started playing for Sydnam. So
there's got to be just a big influence on his
career and you know, keeping them motivator. But yes, Canby,
you can't I can't speak it up with highly enough
of the canber environment.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
It's just terrific, brilliant.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
And we heard there Cody mentioned that his wife Lucy
has made the trip over so I guess, Nathan, you've
got the grandkids.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yes we have.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
But that's that's great felluc to be able to get
over there and short and share this mammal with Cody.
We said to her, if you want to go, go,
we're happy to look after the kids. And that's what
we're doing. So we're just glad to be.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Part of it.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
We're helping out.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Fantastic and just lastly, I mean had it. How does
tomorrow morning look for you? I imagine you're you're up
nice and early, anyway with the grand kiddies, but in
front of the TV turning in nice and early.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Well, actually, I'm going to be away yourself. I'm in
Auckland for a wheel chair basketball tournament, all right. So yeah,
we just quietly watched it on sky Go. But I'll
be immensely proud when he walks out there, runs out
there that tomorrow and gets out there and does the
Houcker hopefully reads the Hacker. No doubt I'll share a
(03:48):
few tears.
Speaker 2 (03:50):

of your son, Nathan. And hey, look, we really appreciate
