Speaker 1 (00:00):
News he'd be It's twenty away from nine o'clock, and
we apologized profusely for being late to Amelia Garvey, who
we've always loved having on our program. Good morning, Amelia Hayleaslie.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
How are you well?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Very good? I hope we haven't interrupted you. Were you
out there training or doing anything with your golf this morning?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm just in the car park getting there to go.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Oh, you're very kind. Well man, what a year you
have had on the Ladies European Tour.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yes, no, it's been a really good year. Yeah, really
happy with it.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Third in the Rookie of the Year and number thirteen
on the Is that the Order of Merit?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, wow, that is a very very good start. Give
us your highlights of twenty twenty five being on the LED.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah. I think I didn't really go in with many expectations,
just because this was my rookie year and you don't
really know what the competition is going to be.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Like.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Came up against a lot of girls this year that
I haven't can years against before, and also just you know,
going out every week to a different course that I've
never seen. And yeah, I think I'm just really really
happy with the way things win and I got on
a really good hot streak right before, like in the

(01:17):
middle of a summer where I had I think it
was three third places and a top five within four events,
and then that managed to get me into the Scottish
Woman's Open and the British Open, which was a really
really cool experience for me.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
And all this travel as well. You know, you've got
a lot of events running back to back and then
you've got the travel as well. I mean, how have
you managed that?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, it's been pretty crazy for sure, especially coming from
playing in America where the travel is pretty easy. But
I've just really tried to embrace it and you know,
enjoy the different countries we get to go to and
try and make some extra time to you know, see
outside of the golf course and go a little doing

(02:06):
a little bit of sight seeing too.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Do you have a favorite country that you've visited and
played in.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
There's been a few, but the one that I remember
the most for me was it was actually South Africa.
We played well, we played one event in Joeburg and
then we played in Cape Town the following week, and
I just fell in love with Cape Town, I think, Yeah,
my expectations of South Africa weren't very high, and I

(02:36):
didn't really know what to expect, and then we got
to Cape Town and I was blown away with how
beautiful it was. So I'm really looking forward to going
back there next year.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I have to totally concur with that. I was lucky
enough to be there for Women's cricket Tea twenty World
Cup a couple of years ago, and it is beautiful.
I just couldn't believe how you hear lots of things
about the cities in South Africa. I'd never been there before,
but yeah, it is a wonderful place to go. But
you must have a good support crew when you are
traveling around, I mean the golfing family, so to speak.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yes, yeah, I've managed to make a really good group
of friends out there. I knew a couple of girls
from over in the States and being in university and stuff.
But yeah, I think everyone's so lovely and we've come
from all different places around the world as well, and
you know, you've got to kind of stick together out
there or it can be a lonely game. But yeah,

(03:33):
I've managed to find a really good group of friends
and we often travel together and get Airbnbs and stay
together too.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's really important. But you're happy to be home clearly.
So what are the summer plans?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, Like, I haven't been home for this amount of
time in a while, so I've got about two and
a half months back home and I'm currently visiting my
sister down in Queenstown. Then I'm actually playing in the
Chasing the Fox event up in Auckland next week, so cool. Yeah,

(04:07):
I am staying pretty busy, but I like that I
did take a couple of weeks off and didn't really
touch the clubs at all when I first got home,
But now getting getting back into it slowly and just
looking forward to having a summer back at home with
my family.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Oh absolutely, And look, what do I know about this
because I haven't had to go through all the hard
yards what you're doing. But you know you have to
keep your hands in, wouldn't you. I mean you can
have little breaks, but you'd have to just keep chipping
and putting and driving. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I think if you take more than a couple of
weeks off, you kind of start to regret it when
you get back into it and you go, oh, you know,
I shouldn't have you got to work a lot harder,
say so, and so you've had a month off or something.
So I was just try and go out for rounds
with people and go to the range, you know, even
if it's just a couple hours, just to keep my

(04:58):
eye in and make work on the other side west hard.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
In Christmas Day? What will that do for you? Where
will you be?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I'll be back coming christ Church with my family.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Oh lovely, Oh that's so cool. Well, all we can
say is congratulations on your rookie year. Third on the
rookie in the Ladies European Tour and I think thirteenth overall,
which is phenomenal. We've always followed so closely where you are,
what you're doing. It's not been the easiest of roads,
but then professional sport isn't is it?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yes, for sure, Thank you guys.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, no, fantastic and chasing the Fox that's certainly got
a lot of profile as well, and we be really
interested to see how you do there go really well.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, yeah, it's going to be fun. I'm looking forward
to it.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
We are too. Thank you so much, Amelia Garvin, much appreciated,
enjoy Queenstown. Thank you for more from News Talks, ed

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
