The late Brian "Skull" Murphy was renowned as a hard man but he could also talk to people, . He was my friend and mentor for over 20 years and he taught me his method, what he called "slychology." One night in 1975, Murphy's skills were put to the test in a tense stand-off with a soldier returned from Vietnam. Of all the stories he told me as I wrote his biography, this was the one that meant the most to Brian.
