Speaker 1 (00:05):
Apote Production. Welcome back to another episode of Am I
A Bad Mom? Podcast? We're on Instagram too at am

(00:28):
I A Bad Mum?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I can't say I've been overly active on there this
past week. I go really hard on it and.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Then find all these funny things and then I just
like slide off the wayside again.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
It's kind of like real life takes over. I guess.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah, but that's good because that means that you're being present,
you're enjoying life.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I do not feel good when I've just scrolled through,
and so I get.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
So angry at myself when I'm like, if I look
down and I've seen the time, and then all of
a sudden, I've chewed up twenty five minutes or whatever,
even five minutes yeh of my own time. I get
so ever stated at myself about wasting my life away
on an algorithm.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
It was wild.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
But speaking of algorithm, I was sitting having breakfast with
friends the other morning after fist up, and their daughter
is your girl's age, and she was sitting that she
had her dad next to her and she was like, dad,
did you see this reel? And she's trying to like
show him all these reels, and for her the reels

(01:32):
were hilarious and for a dad, he had a little giggle,
but he just like turned around, he goes.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Mate, I'm all reeled out.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Stop.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I lost it laughing watching the dynamic of this father
and daughter just going like.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I'm all reeled out. I was like, what is that?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, because you know what teenagers do. They are constantly
showing their parents' stuff that only they are interested in.
So it's all about them, and so conversations that you
have with your teenagers are about what they're interested in.
They might occasionally throw in the how you, but they
don't really care.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I am trying to think about what the real was
that tipped him over the edge, because she was trying
to show him and then she was trying to show us.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I think it was a cat reel.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, maybe, and it was just for a dad like
it was just automatic and then just throwing the comment
out there, I'm all reeled out. I was like, I'm
all reeled out.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
That was a good one, because I get nothing but
Billy videos. Billy.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Oh look at what.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Billy's Oh my goodness, and I've got to the point
now where I don't even pretend to be interested. I'm like,
I just look and go. I got zero interested in that.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
They're like, we're trying to connect with you over Billy,
and you're ignoring us.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Am I bad mom for encouraging her to lie. Now,
Harlly had a job interview. In fact, both girls have
had job interviews the last couple of weeks, which is great.
Like they were working at Meccas, they still are working
at Maccers, but they want to earn more money now
rage it's been so good. They even said last night,

(03:22):
they were like, oh, I can't believe, like you didn't
even tell us. I did not tell them to go
for these jobs.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
It's like they've got a taste of money, yeah, because
mc donald's. Let's be honest, they're not paying big bucks,
but they've got a taste of what it is to
have an income and now they're like, oh, how do
I get more.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
And to be able to spend it? Yeah, and also
the feeling of not having to ask us for everything
and us say no. And so both girls, off their
own backs, decided they weren't getting enough shifts at Macers.
They're still going to do the one a week they get,
but they were like, we need a second job, and
so Amelia went for her interview. That was all good,
she got the job. Holly them went for her interview.

(04:01):
We sat in the car outside and we're a little
bit early, so I said, let's do some practice. She's like, yeah,
give me some questions. So I was like, you know,
why do you want to work here? Like, you know,
what do you love about your current job? Tell me
about teamwork and all the rest of it. And then
I said why would you be good at this job?

(04:24):
So she starts telling me the answers right, I'm hard working,
I'm proactive, I'm keen to learn. And then she's like
looked at me like are they good answers. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean you're not any of those things. But but lie,
but yeah, definitely lie. She's going through all the things.

(04:44):
Love a challenge, work well under pressure. Yeah, Nope, nope.
And then she said to me, Mum, you're a business owner.
Would you employ me? And I went, oh, well, well,
but I have you at home, so I know what
it's like at home.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
You're getting for her stand experience.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
So no, I wouldn't employ you. However, I think you're
going to be great at this job and that they
should employ you. So if I look at the things
you do around the house, which is nothing, if I
look at all of you know what's happening and you
know the hard work that happens around the house, which

(05:28):
doesn't and then.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Think you're like knowing it not knowing it.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Would I employ you to work in this house? The
answer is no. However, this is lie, lie, lie about it.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Also, this from the lie gives you a great platform
to start with. You'll know already the categories that you
need to work on. The team player loves challenges. Yeah,
really like a hard worker.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeah. Tell me about yourself. What are you doing your
spare time? You know? Oh, I'm very active in my
bedroom watching Netflix. I like to socialize on my own.
The list goes on, like, I really enjoy helping out
with charity work. Never charity starts at home. Oh No,

(06:23):
I did accompany mum on charity walk once because she
made me and then she had to pay me five dollars.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
To content anything. I love your honesty. Honesty really does
start at home.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
And I think you really set her up for a
strong interview and it obviously went well because she got
the job.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Got the job, robsmacked. No, I wasn't. I knew she
was going to get the job. She was never going
to get the job at home. No, I've still got that.
You know, we're still looking.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
We're still hiring, because you're rehiring if anyone's interested. Yeah,
so obviously went well. The lies came off strong. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Great, they bit the whole line and sinker, which is great.
And she got the job. Now both of them have
been successful in a job. Yeah, that's wonderful. That's a
great that's a great few weeks in your household.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
How come I'm excited, Rachel?

Speaker 3 (07:25):
And they're on the home stretch to like, I guess
technically we worked out that they already started grade twelve
in this year. They have the process of grade twelve,
so technically they're almost wrapped up for another year.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, and so the girls are doing a taf at
schools program this year, So technically, I mean, there are
exams to do next year, but next year isn't as
important as if they were doing ATAR. I don't really
understand how this, Yeah, this works. I mean I should,
but I don't. I'm not fully at least you're at
the end of it. Well, yeah, and so this is

(08:01):
the thing I was looking into the other day. How
much money I have to pay left of school fees? Yeah,
because I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I mean everything would be excited.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Yeah, raat, I got to pay another thirty thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
That is a lot of money.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I did say, John, just finishing year eleven. I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
You're not really.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
How about it? Said no other parent ever than this one.
I don't want to go down where my brain is at.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
We're not going there, all right, Okay, So the answer was, no,
they're not finishing in grade eleven.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
They've got this closer doing that.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
They're also going for their license, one of them is
Holly is yeah, you're technically like okay, Yeah, thirty thousand
dollars is a lot of money that you still.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Got left pay.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
But like your Uber bills going down really soon. Yeah,
I know, I know the return favor of you driving
them around everywhere is going to be returned soon. Mum's
taxi holy is retiring yea one, and it's a whole
new world.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I know you'll be able to go everywhere, do everything,
and then you'll just be able to get picked up
at any stage.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, well that's what happens in my head. But again, with.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Their charitable expertise that they've shown this far, do you
think how many trips do you reckon?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
You'll get I reckon. They will definitely be trying to
charge me for sure, and then I'll ladd up how
many lifts I gave them over the years and actually
how much you owe me.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
It's not ever going to be tipped out.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
I'm going to be going back to the days where
I go, okay, I'll put in for petrol money.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, I'll give you five dollars a week. That'll be
about it. But yeah, crazy times in your household.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah, considering the fact that we started this podcast and
the girls were what, like.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Where are we at? Elsie is ten and she was
about two and a half. They were seven eight borried?
Think any of their license got a job? You know
they're wrapping up school license?

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Get your license. You can finish school in year eleven.
You could be an uber driver.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
You could be making money.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Lebrun ze U, you're from Wooli's jobs your macas Uber
in between rolling in it.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
The amount of people, the amount of other people rached
that go, oh, the girl's going to unie.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
No.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
In fact, I'm encouraging them to finish in year eleven.
Quit school. Now, come on quit.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Now you've done your tape degree.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I think you've done enough. I think you're all good.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
This is wonderful. This has been fun. They can drive,
and if they don't get their license the first time,
tell them, don't worry, don't get disheartened. Just try again.
Get back on horse.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah, rach I took them out yesterday to do some
of their maneuvers. They looked at me, and when our
driving instructor told us to do it nothing like that,
I was like, okay, listen to him. There's things that
I do on the road. They go, mum, that was
highly illegal. I'm like, is it?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Are they newly illegal? No?

Speaker 1 (11:11):
No, it's been like that for twenty years.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
No.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
But that's what I mean.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
If you're doing something that's illegal, we would have been
pulled up for it, right.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Well, no, not necessarily. Why Like, how many times do
you go to turn left and cut across the bus lane?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
And shit, wait, that's more about your driving skills. What
do you mean cut across.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
The bus lane, cut across the bike lane?

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Oh, the bike lane where the fuck are you meant
to go?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Then no, but you know that there's sometimes there's the
dotted lines. That's when you're supposed to go.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Oh yeah, No, they're only there for show. It's just
a guy. That's a that's not real.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
That's a guy.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
What's wrong with you?

Speaker 1 (11:58):
They're looking sixty ish? Mate. You are more of a.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Hazard on this road if you're going under the speed limit,
and if you're going

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Over a speed limit, okay, well tell that to the police.
