In der nordischen Mythologie nimmt Loki eine besondere Rolle ein. Als Baby wurde er in Asgard aufgenommen und wuchs dort in der Obhut Odins auf. Mit Thor verbindet ihn eine Hassliebe. Roher Gewalt zieht er Illusionen und List vor. Seine Zauberkünste sind in Asgard oft nützlich. Doch nach und nach wird Loki böse, seine Tricks findet keiner mehr amüsant. Letztlich wird der Gott der Zwietracht zu einem Anführer der Ragnarök.
