Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, guys, as far as injuries are concerned, Charles Woods
will be out, Katie Leviston will be out, and then
Rob will be doubtful.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Uh who is there a setback for Robin All.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Or No, he just hasn't made the progress that I
would say. Any setback is just you know, he got
that ankle pretty good. So he's practiced, you know, I mean,
he's practiced this week in unlimited capacity and he's been
able to you know.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
He looks good, but you know, is he quite ready
to be the Rob that we're.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
All accustomed to see him? You know, that's why he's
listened his doubt right now.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Is it just kind of an overnight thing for Kevin Johnson,
like the illness.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Or yeah, he's just a little stomach bug.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Yeah, he's been I'm sorry about He's been like remarkably.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Durable for for you guys talking about Kevin.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah, what has it been like there's so many moving parts.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
But knowing that that, guys, it's been great.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
You know, it's been really good, Jordan, I mean, and
he has been. And that's really goes throughout training camp,
off season, into the practices and then you know, obviously
in the season so you know, I don't know if
you saw was miked up last week, but I mean
it gives you some good insight into how much the
guys like him, how much fun that he has.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's getting better.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I thought he played really well last week.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
And you know, repetition is the mother of learning, the
more that you're able to play, and I think he's
getting a comfortable rapport. I mean he's played with a
bunch of different guys next to him at the right tackle,
played next to a couple of different centers. But it
has been nice to be able to have you know,
Kevin as consistent as he's been.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I was gonna say after the game, but not mistaken.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
You had said you decided not to kick because you
didn't have confidence in the operation during the game.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
During the game, yeah, why not that you feel better
now going I do.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, here's what I told, you know, and I told
this to Josh too.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I mean, kickers have you know, some moments and it's
not exclusively to him. You know, it was really the
operation and we missed the twenty six yard. I had
a couple of ones where we were just inside the
you know, left upright that were still good for us,
and in that moment, you know, there are some wins
in Foxborough and just like you're playing your percentages and
you know, my job is to make decisions that I
feel like give us the highest percentage.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
To come away with that result.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
That didn't mean that I didn't that I don't have
confidence in him. I mean he was a week removed from,
if it wasn't for a false start, being six for
six on field goals, and so what I do know
is that he's a resilient guy.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
He's mentally tough, he's got a process.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
I think he's learning a lot in the midst of
his rookie season, as I would imagine most of these
kickers will tell you.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
But I have tremendous confidence and.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
You know his ability to learn from it, and that's
not going to affect decisions as it relates to going
into this game.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Sean, we're the division races.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Do you have a specific message that you've delivered to
your team every week with where you guys did?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
You know?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
And you know, Lindsay, I mean, we focus on ourselves
because really our conversation, we can't control those other games.
The only thing we can control is how we play
on Sunday night against the Eagles, and so if you
want to be relevant in those conversations, usually what served
us well is just continue to take care of our business.
And so now when you're watching the highlights or the scores,
do you pay a little bit closer attention? Yeah, of course,
(03:00):
I think that's human nature. But as far as what
we talk about in here, none of that really affects
the bottom line for us, and so I don't really
discuss that. And I'm sure guys talk about it things
like that, but we don't talk about that with the team.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Hooka revealed to us yesterday that kind of recently learned.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
You guys are in the NFC West.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Is that surprise? No, he didn't.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
He was messing with you, So you have to give
me the context.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I don't know, I think.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
So I asked him like the same question about being
in the in the division and to be kind of
scoreboard watches at all, and he's like, I just kind
of like guys told me.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Recently, you're in that beautiful that's why you know what?
Be like Puka on what you can control.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
And hey, if that's the case, I love him unconditionally,
But you know what, though, like, but but there is
a beauty in that, in all seriousness, like, let's just
say that's the case.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Okay, really, I know this.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
That guy is going to show up when we play
the Niners, the Cardinals and the Seahawks, and shoot if
he thinks that we're in the same division as the Eagles,
and let's show up against that too.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Sorry, all I might did there.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Primetime games?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
What do you spend the day doing?
Speaker 3 (04:14):
You know, I like the Sunday night games a little better.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Because there's at least football on the Monday night ones
are the worst. And Thursday nights you're usually in such
a cram that you're kind of using all that time
up till kickoff, so you kind of sit around watch games,
but you know, you go over to the stadium at
a decent time.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
But I'll watch watch games in the morning, stuff like
pa around, Are you sitting around? What would you guess? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Probably okay, And then because I always bring sunshine with me,
I've read Last.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Time twenty eighteen. Yeah, picked Pantio.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
What did you come out of that experience learning about yourself,
your team? You're off?
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Well, I think more than anything, you learned that that
was a really humbling night. They did a great job,
and you know, I think very similar to what I
talked about that year in the Super Bowl. I'm not
afraid to admit, you know, there was things that I
didn't do enough job of putting our players in spots.
You know, give the players, you know, for the opposing
teams a ton of credit. But I thought Vic and
his coaching staff put together an outstanding game plan, regulated
(05:10):
a lot of the things that we were doing at.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
The time, and it forces a lot of reflection. And
so you know, that was a good learning experience for me.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
And you know, you try to apply those things whether
you win or lose. And there's been a lot of
instances where teams have tried to replicate similar things to
you know, what was on display that night. But what
I have a lot of respect for with coach Fangio
is that, you know, he's got an adaptability, of flexibility
and an identity that is, you know, whatever suits that game,
that game plan, or that team that he's on. And
(05:39):
but it was you always bring the sunshine. It was
a great, great night for us, now it was. It
was a good learning op though, but very humby. Yeah,
no question, Yeah, you know. I mean it doesn't feel
fun in the moment, but the only real growth occurs
when you go through those challenging things if you're able
to use it for the right reasons, and I think
(06:00):
in a lot of instances we've been able to do that.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
When you were asked at KIMPG last week, you mentioned
the role of scout team, is it always your back quarterback.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Or how do you decide it is? Yeah, that's typically
how we do it.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
And has there been anything that you've seen from him
either meet up to a specific game that you mentioned
that you not has been your decoming better?
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Is there any specific commentory or I just think it's
the ability for him to be able to activate the
parts of the field, make quick decisions, you know, give legit.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
You know he's got such a command too. I mean
sometimes you get some of these.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Younger quarterbacks they're not, you know, quite as comfortable taking command.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Of the huddle.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Even if you just hear the way that he communicates
with the guys around him, you know, you can't help
but get better because our defense is seeing a look
that's very much reflective of high level, starting caliber quarterback play.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
With the things that he can do and so.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
He's just he's he's got a great way about himself,
and he has definitely made them better by the way
that he handles himself on the field, the looks that
he's able to present them in terms of just mimicking
and emulating the opposing team's quarterback. And then I think
he's also made the players that he's around better the
way he communicates to them. I don't think it's by
mistake that when you talk to teammates of his at
other stops he's been at, he's very well regarded and
(07:11):
uh and they wanna play hard for him. Sean, we
don't have as much to get you going to discuss
football or prepare for football knowing that you got been
playing those Sunday now.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Is there anything exception football playing most.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Well, I think it's an opportunity. I think guys get excited.
It's prime time, it's the only game on. You know,
you get around, get a chance to watch some football
during the day. But the players are better equipped to
answer that than me, you know. I know that, Uh,
our focus is on trying to make as good a
decisions as we possibly can, and uh, I'm always a
proponent for kicking off as early as possible, see too part.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
Passion of you know might He's speaking a nice join
in there the bo boll And ears talking about how
Matthew Stafford got after him little bit it a couple
of those snaps of practice.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Yeah, but he was smiling when he said it, like
he he loved getting coached like that.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
I think have you seen Matthew kind of turn that
on and maybe to pull it back at some cases
depending on their young players.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
I think he's got a good feel Jordan, because he
knows that, hey, these are the guys that you know,
are we're going to be, you know, in the game
with and it's very important and if somebody's not given
that immediate feedback, and nobody has a better feel for
where he wants that ball.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Based on the location.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
And and there's there's an edge that he has that
I think is good at the right times.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
I mean, he's got such great emotional intelligence in terms
of how to positively push his teammates.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
But he's a guy that can take hard coaching too,
you know.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
And I think once you get to know people a
little bit more, you know, your job is to be
able to reach them and figure out what's the best
way to inspire learning or inspire positive change if we're
trying to correct stuff. And I think Matthew has a
really good grasp of where to pick and choose his
spots with guys like bo and just in general.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
And I know the Scouts have refined their personality assescimate
process in identifying guys who do want to be coached
really hard, who can take that and thrive with it
over the last two years in particularly, But from coach perspective,
how do you see that?
Speaker 5 (09:01):
What qualities do you know?
Speaker 2 (09:03):
This when that when you see a guy as that,
think it's mental toughness, you know. I think it's resilience.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
I think people that can take hard coaching understand where
it comes from. I think you have to be secure
to take hard coaching, you know, and I think you
want to be and if you're intrinsically motivated, you know.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
I've I've heard you know, coaches say before. I think
Coach Saban said it.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
You know, the best they demand to be coached, and
that's what you want. Those are the types of guys
the way that you're wired. We can all be sensitive
at times, but you got to be able to you know,
drop your feelings and understand that if it's coming from
the right place, then usually it's received the right way.
And that's why the culture, I think, the timing, the tone,
you know, making sure that it's never disrespectful or demeaning,
(09:40):
you know, but demanding you damn right.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
We want it to be that way. And I don't
think you have enough people like that, because people that aren't.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Willing to be coached, they you know, they're gonna they
have a ceiling, and usually it's going to be short lived.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
In this league, it's too hard.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Thank you, You're welcome, Okay, Thanks guys,
