Speaker 2 (01:20):
Just contact us anyway you want and today we've got
some great.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Content for you.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I've got a question from a UBI who wants to
nail her nails.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
See what we did there. So Justine has emailed nails.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I can no longer justify the time or cost going
to the salon every two weeks from my nude pink
biyab Help how can I keep my naturally very weak,
thin nails. I'm also prone to picking at them looking
decent using DIY methods.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Buyab is so expensive and it takes a long time,
doesn't I it does.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I've not done it either, but I've a couple of
my girlfriends do it and it's it's between one hundred,
one hundred and fifty dollars and it.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Takes two hours.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
What do you get?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You get gel?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I get sns SNS okay, so that's about forty minutes
and how often every two to three weeks, depending on
how far all I am. Well, Justine, you've come to
the right because I no longer get professional manicures. I'm
too hard on my nails. I used to have gel,
and then they were like, you need acrylic, and then
even a cryllic couldn't.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Wow, I know.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
And then remember I went through the stick on nail phase,
but they kept flying off, so I you super glue, yeah,
and then I couldn't get them off and I literally
had paper thin, flaking nails.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So I have been there.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
What we're gonna do is we're gonna be patient. I'm sorry,
it's gonna take about three months of TLC. Pretend like
a little tiny baby bird came and flew into your
backyard and you're rearing it like you have to love
your nails every single day for months. Things that I
want you to do. I used OPI Repair Mode, which
is kind of like a serum, like think of all
those bond Repair plex hair products, pretty much the same

(02:50):
thing for your nails, because your nails are protein as well.
Then I use religiously and have about one hundred half
used bottles because I just buy one every time at
the pharmacy. Is the Sally Handsome Nail Rehab. The reason
I like that is because it's a nail sort of
strengthener and harder, but it's a very soft pink color.
And you say you like a nude pink biab, so
it's not gonna have the thickness and the shine. But

(03:10):
I just do a layer every day and then take
it off like on the third day, and start again.
During my research, Justine for you, I found and ordered
and will report back when it arrives. A product from
Mecca that's online only. It's called the Manicurist Active Smooth
and it's the most beautiful soft ballet pink and it's
a color care hybrid. They say it's an all in

(03:31):
one perfector that smooths the surface of the nail eRASS
imperfections and ridges like it looks amazing. So it's twenty
six dollars. I bought that fore you well for me,
and I'll let you know. Another one I've used before,
which is great, is the Kesta Black Doctor Feel Good
Ridge filler. So essentially it's the same thing. It's going
to strengthen and harden and because he nails are probably
all flaky and uneven, it's just going to kind of

(03:52):
give it a smoother top. And one more tip is
massage your cuticles. You could just use a face oil
or you can use a cutical oil. Remember that doctor
Badger's something balm. You had money, I've still got it
and I put it on Lennies as well. There you
go massaging at night because like we do, I guess
with body mal sarge or lymphatic drainage. It helps circulation
and kind of just give life to the area.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Try not to bite or pick. I can't really help
you with that. Gloves, do you know what?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Actually I have never considered gloves because I really struggled
with this question because I can relate to Justine. I'm
a chronic picker, so that's why I have to have
gel on because I, ever since I was little rip
and pick. A lot of people have something that they
stim and me my hair, yeah, and for me it's

(04:38):
my nails. I just pick and don't do it now
actually rip at them. It's really bad, like I'll make
myself bleed without realizing. My best friend does that to
the point where she's just got skin and then her
poor manicurist has to like try and stick it whatever
onto skin. So luckily I don't tend to rip off
the gel, but I still rip the skin around the nails.

(04:59):
So I really don't actually know if you are quite
a bad picker. It says you're prone to picking them,
so maybe you can sort of try to resist. You
could try to stick on nails, just don't go crazy
with the glue like I did. Like they come often
with like a little sticky sheet kind of like a
double sided tape, and then the glue if you use
the tiny bit of glue like you meant to, and said,
I soaked the whole thing, which was great, but then

(05:22):
my nails were still damaged underneath. One more thing I
will recommend is oral collagen. So a collagen supplement, which
I take religiously and have done for years, really helps
my skin annoyingly makes my nails and my hair grow
like wildfire. And I'm fully gray, so I'm always getting
my hair colored and cutting my nails. But that will help,
but patience.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, and I actually love the glove tip. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Also, just so you know, SNS or gel, they are
probably a little bit less than a third of the price.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, and it doesn't take as long, so you could
consider that good time though.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I save it for, like I say, a favorite TV show,
no episode, and then I'll watch that while I'm getting
my nails done.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
It's like a little trade every two weeks. Well, you
can invest in.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
A kid at home and try and do your own
gel at home. Lots of people I know have perfected
that and do that after the kids are in bed
and they watch this.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah, yeah, let us know how you go? Justine with
both on the journey.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Now coming up after the break a question from a
UBI who wants to get down to the roots.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Of her hair and conditioner.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
And we're punning all over the place today, so a
none has posted in the You Beauty group shower thoughts.
All these expensive shampoo and conditioner combos which claim great benefits,
I don't quite understand how they're meant to actually work

(06:38):
if they're on the head for all of two seconds
and the conditions not even touching the scalp. As someone
with alopecia, I've been told to use kerostars Den Saphique
by my dermatologist.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
The shampoo instructions don't say to.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Leave it on the head, just rub in a rinse
maybe thirty seconds, then repeat the condition. I leave on
for two minutes, but I only apply it from ears down,
so it doesn't even touch my scalp. So how are
these fancy pants ingredients meant to actually be absorbed enough
to help my hair. Shouldn't I be marinating in it?
Great question and one that I actually don't think that
we have had on the pod. We haven't, but if

(07:11):
a long time listeners are here ubiz, you'll know. I'm
a huge fan of supermarket and pharmacy hair care and
expensive hair care too, but I don't think the price
in general is an indicator of quality. Interestingly, your dorm
has recommended this. The denser fee range helps promote hair growth,
so there are other options.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
I would check in with you dirm.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
If you don't have a appointment soon, you could always
just email a question and say, hey, see these products
you've recommended, what are the ingredients in there that I'm
looking for or what else is available? Because carastas is
really expensive. Yeah, great products, but there's other options that
are in that category of growth and scalp stimulation, so
that are a lot more affordable. Totally, I'm going to

(07:51):
give you some here, but I agree with you. I
think it's also more about how you wash your hair
or getting the right texture. A lot of people are
shocked when they find out that you don't just plunk
the shampoo straight on the scalp, you kind of lather
it in your hands. So my recommendations are the dermal
Therapy hair restoring shampoo conditioner. It stimulates hair and reduces

(08:12):
hair loss. You can get it from Big w for
nineteen dollars. What doesn't dermal therapy do. Like they're so
good your price lines and your affordable pharmacies have the
growth Bomb brand, So growth Bomb shampoo three hundred mills,
it's twenty five bucks full price fifteen bucks at the
time of recording, and like three hundred meals.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
It's a good decent size.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Nioxin is slightly more expensive but still more affordable. You
can get that everywhere and on a dooor beauty they've
got a really good kitch. So it's the hair thickening
system which has shampoo conditioner and then like a scalp treatment.
Dirkos launched gosh last year of the year before in Australia.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Get it from Chemi's warehouse.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
They've got the Energizing Stimulator shampoo range that's normally thirty
bucks on sale at the time of recording. So there's
definitely other options, but I would just check with the
dermatologist that there's nothing in any other products that they
don't want you to use, and there's a reason for
that one specifically, But yeah, you're right, you know, it's
more about shampooing thoroughly twice conditioning with the right kind

(09:10):
of texture for your hair type in general, you know,
for people that don't have alopecia, and the supermarket and
pharmacy is bloody brilliant. I think you need to take
into consideration as well that, of course you wouldn't just
put something in your skin and then wash it off
and expect it to do anything well, except for cleansing,
because you're cleansing like a shampoo. But we need to
remember that hair doesn't absorb products in the same way

(09:32):
that our skin does. Yes, of course, the shampoo's working,
you're scrubbing it in, you're really lathering it up, and
you're getting all of the old product, the dirt, the oil,
everything out of your hair. Then the other products are
sort of well, they're coating the hair shaft and then
they're penetrating. It's just different because your hair is so
different from your scalps, so your hair is a lot

(09:53):
more porous, especially in chemically treated or damaged hair. It's
about how the product's being formulated and the efficiency of it.
So there are very different products and it's a very
different area. Yeah, sence science area. Your hair is very
different to your skin. Your skin is like alive, it's breathing,

(10:13):
kind of your hair is dead protein exactly, Yeah, exactly.
And that's a good point I think also is that
with the product you've already been recommended, that's a long game.
So it's trying to stimulate the denser feek is returning
density to your hair. So whether you keep using that
or a similar one, be patient and maybe ask your
Durham as well if there's a leave in serum that
they recommend, because they're everywhere at the moment, like hair

(10:33):
growth serums, and I'd imagine that you'd think that would
do more work staying on the hair.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
But good luck. I'd love to know how you go,
and thank you for asking.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Next up, our host tax Lee thinks she's a scientist again.
Did you bring your lab coat?

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Of course I did? What a you mae cup packs.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
We know I love to be a scientist and I
love decanting things and just making little concoctions and in
her happy place at home, honestly, like Kelly saw in
my other makeup bag before we were recording, and she's.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Like, oh, your little mini things. I was like, I
love to play with my little mini things.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
What I purchased was a set. I think there's five
of cosmetic funnels for decanting. So you know how we
all get your a soop or your lo ov a
first pot of soap, but then we all put up
palm olive in it later and then you've got to
pour it in and then it goes all over the thing,
and then if it ruins the label, it doesn't look
as good. So it's just literally a funnel, little plastic funnel,

(11:35):
but they're coming to a different sizes.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Then it's not you're trying to do like the yad one.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
So I exactly, So I literally just put it in
the basin and then put my soap in there, fill
it up, and go to it, and I come back.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
So I'm not standing there forever.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
When I'm trying to get the last of a moisturizer out,
I will like stand the moisturizer, for example, up on
its head for whenever and then undo the thing, use
the funnel, put it into a smaller jar. Or if
I'm traveling they're just so handy. Of course, you can
use them in the kitchen, like I put ugly olive
oil into our fancy olive oil bottle that way because
olive oil spilt is annoying.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
You can get them everywhere.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
I got mine on catch of the day, so I'm
not sure if they'll still be there, but they're literally
just like if you google five piece, various sized plastic funnel.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Set, multipurpose something, you'll come home.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah. Honestly, Rich was like what these for? And then
I found him using them for all sorts of different things.
Even if you want to know, put fragrance into an atomizer.
They're really handy to have. What's your host tag?

Speaker 1 (12:25):
My friend?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
My host tag now that it's getting nice and cold,
well it's actually not cold yet, but it's getting cooler,
is to incorporate a blush plum into your makeup?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
A plum colored blush. Yeah, okay, I just got started.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I know, but I just think it is the perfect
color for the colder months because it offers this really beautiful,
unique balance of warmth depths, and it's.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Really flattering on pretty much every single skin tone, and
it's everywhere in fashion at the moment exactly.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
There are so many good like it's just deep cherry burgundy.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
You can also do just a little flush. That's what
I want to know how to do, because you know.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Just tap tap tap it on, or you can build
it up to what I've got on my cheeks today,
which is looks great. They're not too ot t Like
that's not as much as you normally wear. Is it
because you've gone from a different color.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
I think it's because it's a plum, Yeah, because you
would normally have like coral, but now you look like think, yeah,
it'd be very hard to overdo plum. Well, it would
be easy, but it looks stupid.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Exactly, whereas you can kind in the summer, you can
kind of like get away with a little bit.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Oay, I want to try a plum. I've got a
couple of suggestions.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
That's because I'm just in this love of the plum
Blush Melany Erry Smooch that's a creamy, liquidy product that
you just tap on. Rare soft bounce blush, which is
quite new in.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
The Is it as pigmented as their original?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
No?

Speaker 1 (13:48):
No, no, no no, it's powder, it's powdery blend.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Yeah, like buttery.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yes, that is in the shade truth that is stunning.
Clinique black Honey, it's literally black honey. Ye.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
I do love that, okay.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
And then the Morphy Wine and Dine, which would be
hilarious to see you put that on.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
That's for my more intense lovers. Yes, advance, Okay, which
one should I try? Out of those? And I'm going
to do it. Ah, I would say Clinic black Honey.
You said you've already tried that.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
What about the Milanie because I'm loving Milanni at the
moment and it's affordable.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
It is.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
However, it's not no, no, no, it's just not as user
friendly as okay, yeah, yeah, because all I've got is
neody brickies, maybe a slight coral.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Especially with your dark hair. Oh it looks so beautiful.
Well that's my.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Homework for this week. Thank you so much for listening.
