In de eerste aflevering van Over Datum merkt Carolien op hoe vaak haar van alle kanten wordt verteld dat ouder worden iets is om bang voor te zijn, en dan met name het esthetische aspect ervan. De hele dag door wordt ze overspoeld door beelden van jeugdige mensen met rimpelloze huidjes.
Wat doen die beelden met ons, en met ons idee over ouder worden? Wat vinden we daar zo erg aan? Is ouder worden echt een probleem? Als we de beauty-industrie mogen geloven wel, want zij bieden een oneindig aantal behandelingen aan die het ouder worden zouden kunnen vertragen.
