Felix Mendelssohn is a well known and loved composer. HIs elder sister Fanny also wrote passionate music but was then unperformed and forgotten when she died in 1847, as she lived in a time when women who composed were not recognised in the same way.
Her work is being rediscovered nowadays and Angela Zanders, who teaches classical music appreciation, will talk about Fanny and perform her Easter Sonata on the piano, this Saturday 7 June at 730pm.
It's a free event but there is a retiring cash collection for Unicef working in Gaza.
She spoke to Mike Waddington about it.
