Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello and welcome to the tennis. We're back and so
are you. Europe versus the World Labor Cup eight on
the line in San Francisco, GenZ Domination, the fresh Faces
making waves on the world stage, and Devo at the
Davis Cup. Ozzie is to reset for twenty twenty six
after being knocked out in Sydney. All that more ahead
with me Dave Muhlbach alongside me, the content connoisseur Bryce Stewart.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Welcome back, Thank you content connish. Yeah, I can even
say that word.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Probably, that's all right. It's kind of like if you're
a fancy ice cream who makes reels.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Thank you for explaining what the word means. I know
what the word means.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
It doesn't mean ice cream. It's just a brand name. Anyway,
Enough of that. Ah, the man who writes about this
sport for a living and has beard hair on his
T shirt. If you're watching at home, stand him off.
Thanks Zav. There's actually a story behind the beard here, Okay,
I assume it's just falling out.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Well I wish it did, because I had a pretty
disrupted sleep. Oh, the beard trimmer went flat halfway through
lifelast night. It's a slow charge, went to bed with
half a beard and kept waking up paranoid. I was
going to rock up for the pod with half a beard,
but we got there.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Which side did you do? This side was done? Okay,
your camera, So I was going to just have to
talk like this. That would have been great. We could
have done a full jeculine, mister Hydees.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
I was picturing getting on the tram and the looks
giving it away.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
You definitely would have got a seat. Though everyone is
scurrying away from the strange, strange man with half the
the story by a better pair of beard trimmers. It
looks it looks good than you're great. We're very thrilled
to have you back that story.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Now I've heard it, and next time I waited.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Someone who I'm assuming doesn't shave their face all that often.
Our resident tennis pro, The Moonlighting is a podcast starts
Jamie Fallis, Yeah, you look ravishing.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Is it because you're a birthday girl?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Maybe maybe when your birthday? He asked, pretending he doesn't
really know.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
And what is that arising on the skyliner?
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Unicorn in here? Okay, so for those who haven't skinned ahead,
bred has punched me in the shoulder which is broken
(02:28):
by taking the sling off.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Just put the sling on. Are you okay?
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I'm fine, let's crack on.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
This is so nice, thanks guy.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Look at your little cake.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
For our listeners, we don't have candles here it's a
safety issue. But for our listeners listening, you can see
we've got some video of Jamie playing on the screen
and she got a unicorn.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Okay, matches my jacket, it does.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
You're both ravishing.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
That's so nice, Thank.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
You, David. Cake is it?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
It is a vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream, with
vanilla other stuff and a horn that actually did you
make it?
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Someone at Woolies did love her. Yeah, thank you. I
do like to bake. He can cool, yeah, but I
didn't want to risk it.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
He's got one arm yeah yeah, that's.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah recently, and it took a lot out of me
to make cake one arm. Yeah, all of my recovery
has been thrown out the window.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
That's what Jamie was said over here, and she had hers. Yeah,
you couldn't.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Kept her sling on, so you know on this side, Yeah,
we're mister you know you over here wants his.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Sling off or baby just hands to yourself in the
pod that.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Taken back.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
That means stop. Well, I'm thrilled to have you back.
You don't look a day over fourteen, so I assume
that's right. Yeah, yeah, right, you'll be out of the
juniors in no time.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Can't wait.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Hopefully I'm on the teenage domination.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Well, speaking of that's that's a little sneak peak of
your what's caught your eye? Let's jump straight into it, Dan,
what caught your eye this week in tennis Lane?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
I think we've got to go with the obvious. For
Davis Cup, what the hell happened up there?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
It's a tough one. It was.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
You've got to hand it to the Belgians. They were amazing,
weren't they. They were handling you were up there, breathe.
The crowd was packed tenth round.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
We had to sell out crowds every day, so it
was pumping in there.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Really really good that there is just a ticket holder.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I was there as a ticket holder.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah, I went as a fan.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
The old home and away format, which is obviously the
best for atmosphere. For Davis Cup or Billy Jinking Cup
got a feel for demon that you can't help but
think there might have been some emotional baggage straight out
of your off the back of that vuokage too. You
feel a bit sorry for him that, you know he
fought gallantly but was thrown in the deep end. I
guess in that gift Rubber couldn't have done any better.
(04:57):
But that's that's the way Davis cup goes often have
to handle that pressure.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
And Colin Yon was really the star, wasn't Eae.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
He was unreal well number ninety one hadn't He'd sounded
a bit of a warning at the US Open with
a win over Rude, which people probably might have read
too much into it, but I think they're aware of him.
And he was just amazing from cramping, he was literally
lying on the court cramping demon or to get up
and finish that close that out.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yeah, And it looked watching the match, it looked like
he was going to retire quite a few times, like
quite a few times he walked to the umpire and
then kind of walked back, and in press afterwards he
said if he wasn't playing for his country, he would
have had to have retired. But because he had that
thing in the back of his head that this really matters.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
But Colin young.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Raphael it played so well with going to the corners,
especially on that Saturday match, like he had demon going
just across the court back and forth, and that's why
I thought maybe's tired because he wasn't getting to as
many balls That's what we would normally see from him. However,
on Sunday it was a different demon that showed up.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah. So he turned up.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Against Bergs and held his own there and there was
some positive for the Aussies with Hidjakarta making his.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Was a great double. It was so good.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
The downside of that is Thompson also coming back from injury,
was probably big gassed to back up for singles on
the same day and we were missing keep in mind
we were missing Poper and.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Matt Abden Thanasi who was so good last year for US.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Danasi was sitting on the sidelines Saturday Sunday.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, all and all still a great tie and all
the away teams actually got through of all the qualifying
ties across the worlds. So we had the draw done
overnight and Italy will now face Austria, France to face Belgium,
Spain against Checki, Argentina and Germany.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Wow ey, So looking at that, who were the top
contenders in your mind in the final eight. So there'll
be a.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Few late additions to the teams, as in Carlos Ocres
will likely come into the fray now he didn't play
the qualifying tie Zverev might come in for Germany. So
if Alcarez is there, you'd have to still say Italy Spain.
I think Chechy is a real upset the US. In
(07:29):
the US, right, Fritz and Tiafa on their soil. Wow,
that's yea three guys almost three guys in the top
twenty check might be twenty fourth or something, men Sick
and Lahtchka, So they could beat any of those teams.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
If they're all firing.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
And what happened with Runa, So that was.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, a monumental comeback from Spain. Denmark were one point
from advancing with Runa up on Pedro Martinez Martinez save
that match point, went on to level and Spain got
up three two.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Wow. Yeah, don't even need al craz that's it should be.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
A rule that if you don't play to get into
the qualifying or to the final eighth, then.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
You need to keep the same team.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, It's such a tricky one, isn't it, because availabilities
and things.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Well also, I mean Martinez spearheaded that win and he
may not get to play at all now, but I
think you'd still be part of the trophy if you
win it.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Yeah, I hope. So I'm not sure on that, but
I'm sure there's some ticket sales execs going no, no, no,
you can put up crazing withever you want. Yeah, it's fine.
He can play for England if he wants.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Just get him to play.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, exactly. All right, Well, so one more question on
Davis carp and the Aussies twenty twenty six. Can they
reset the clock and do something better?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Absolutely? And they look dad still love that they got
home tie. They just would have been probably more disappointed
that they couldn't deliver it at home because they don't
get to play here that often anymore. But the flip
side is they may end up with another hometime now
in trying to get back into which is really.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Good timing rolling straight.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Into I was going to go to Thailand or something.
But I'm sure you'll still still yeah, yeah, one of
those playing So Jamie, no, God, no, unless there's I
wouldn't mind checking out the first lounge at Sydney Airport. Yeah,
we'll think about.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
That, okay, Yeah, let me know how that goes.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Three loves it when I talk about airport lounges so disgusting.
Yeah right, you punched me in the.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I didn't mean to whatever, but now I feel fine.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Well, Dan, thanks for your Davis Devo insights.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
And just a quick note to Billy jing King Sorry
Billy Jinking Cup quarter finals already underway, two teams already
through to the SEMIS Italy and Ukraine overnight.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
We're pretty emotional for obvious reasons. It does mean a
lot for those women in Shenzhend brilliant.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
And also our BJK Cup is coming up also in November.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
That's right, Yeah, Jean say yes.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
And we have some announcements this morning with maya joint
in the team.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yeah all right, Well, keep your eyes peeled in your
ears listening here, Jamie, let's stick over with you. What
is going on with the teens taking over the WTA.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Yeah, I think it's huge, It's pretty incredible. So far
this year, I think we've had maybe five or six
winners from the WTA side that our teenagers still and
last week we had Iva Yovic defeat Orango six four
sixty one in Guadalajara, So that was an amazing result.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
And it was an awesome photo of her holding a trophy.
The confetti's everywhere, she's got a sombrero on. I love
that event. That's the photo. I love that photo.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
It's a pretty cool time. Yeah, Iva only being seventeen
years old, she's on the rise. Started the year at
or previously coming into the tournament seventy three and now
ends up at thirty six in the world, so incredible.
And there's three months after playing, so if she does
continue to push on.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
So for those playing at home, Orango is here with
other trophy and the bitter confetti looks like she's got
our full on Mexican style mustache, does it it?
Speaker 2 (11:16):
So yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
It was really good to see and she's on the rise,
and there's three months left of tournaments, so there's a
really big push for her to potentially be seated at
this coming next year's Australian Open.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Oh wow, which is seventeen.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
So cool.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
She's the youngest singles champion of the season so far.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
So what are the teens had taken over.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Oh well, we've got our vari and Maya joint. He's
done really well this year. Mira Andreva of course, and
Sarah Rakatamanga who also won Saint Paulo last week, is
now one hundred and thirty one in the world and
had defeated a couple seated players throughout the week and
in her first round match she was love five down
in the third set.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
So teenagers are now seven to nothing in WTA singles
finals this season.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yeah, and it's incredible to see. I think we've spoken
a lot about the men in the next gen, but
this is the next gen on the women's side, and
I really hope there's the hype around them like we've
had on the on the men's side. So yeah, they're
definitely people to watch.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Out for, definitely, particularly like there's an Aussie in there too.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Which is great and mine's really cool. She was actually
in here doing a bit of a shoot in one
of our other studios getting ready for the AO launch
coming up. Yeah, she's just a chiller.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
That's awesome. And she won a quarters match at night,
so that's incredible in soul, so so good.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah, so down a question for you What are these
results say about teenager's ability to compete at the highest level,
particularly in the women's game. Okay, well, obviously.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Doesn't always guarantee they're going to go on. Just to
compare Raka Tomonga, I think she was the not the first,
she's the first player since tim A Favor to win
on daboom in their first WTA tournament. Other players that
have done that were Justin Ennan Tracy Austin, who became
two big names. Tim A Favor hasn't really done a lot,
(13:08):
and the other one was Danillovic. I's done quite well,
but it's no real gauge that you're going to become
a slam bonny stretch. But it's an amazing launch pad,
particularly for the year ahead for someone like Yovic, who's seventeen.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, that's incredible, and.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
She's a little bit younger than Mirror, but we sort
of forget Mirrors so young.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Yeah, because of her success to cool Yeah, now she's
one of the big dogs. Yeah, yeah, you do, you
forget she's still a puppish.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Yeah, because she's nineteen now eighteen, wow.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Similar with when Goff was yeah forever yeahs her team
when she won her first Slam so yeah, amazing launch pad.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
With these young kids coming up the line and getting
better and winning, do you think they've got the right
support from the WTA to really foster their careers and
make sure they've got the right support to keep flourishing.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
I actually asked my family this last night. I asked
the question, and my mom goes, she goes a therapist,
So she goes a therapist. I go, Okay, I get
that's fair, that it's pretty funny. But I think when
you have a team around these young younger girls and
even like when you're twenty twenty one, that's so important.
Like you see on the men's side like ciner Our,
Craz and even Room, they travel with their close knick team,
(14:27):
and you have Na Andreva traveling with Conchita as well,
and also her mom travels with her sometimes, so I
think that's really important. And then Gof's parents also come
with her. I think having that stability and that close
knick team just provides them with like the comfort that
they can say and do stuff within the team that
doesn't get put out and they don't get judged as much.
(14:49):
So I think that's quite important for them to then
continue to grow and to learn. And I think on
the other side, the WTA have a really good system
in terms of they can provide if you want to
go to school, if you want to do a unied degree,
they provide that, and they allow you and they can
help you while you're playing.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Yeah, so we have like WTA University TAU.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Oh, that's got good little I think that's what it's called,
something like that check. But it allows like us to
study on the side to be able to get a degree,
and then once we decide to finish playing, then we
have something.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
To get back on. That's great. What did you study?
Nothing great?
Speaker 2 (15:30):
But that's probably what I've learned is.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
That's definitely what I've learned is I probably should have
done something back then and ticked it along the way.
So then when I get to twenty five or twenty
six and I am injured, then I do have something to.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Find media career lurishing, try try.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
But I know, like Maya is studying nutrition. I'm pretty
sure at the most she is doing stuff on the
side as well.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
They do provide psychology through the WTS is there do
they tailor that even more for some of these young
players on how to handle all this such pressure and
hype that comes with it.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Now, yeah, probably.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
I think it's also depending on what you need help
with in terms of which areas. But the psychologists that
they would have would understand tennis, and I think that's
quite important as sports psychologist, So you understand the pressures
and then through that you can create change and create
your habits to be able to help you to play
on them.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
I feel like that wasn't there in the past.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
No, probably not.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
You're mentioning like players taking their parents their mum on
the tour. Is any player on the w T a
sid I got this mum that is just always push, push, push,
and you're like, oh god, he comes, Barbara, I think,
come on on the spot.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
That is such a trick question.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Hey Jamie, how do we destroy you?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Not today?
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Because she's getting good at this. I don't want to
take my job. Not today. Okay, fair enough, good answer,
thank you, that's you me the training paying off there.
I'm going to jump in breeze. Sorry. I know that
we are equal co hosts on this show. What caught
my eye is labor Cup is back. Our logo is black,
but we are heading for the first time in labor
Cup history to the west coast of the USA over
(17:15):
San Francisco. It is World versus Europe in an ATP event.
It is amazing. And our man on the ground, the
one and only twenty two time Grand Slam champion himself,
Todd Woodbridge by everybody, how is it? I got to
tend it's nice to be on the down as opposed
to being in the air.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
Yeah, but no being here get it?
Speaker 6 (17:38):
Because labor Cup, I've got to tell you, it's one
of my favorite events of the year. And a lot
of people go, oh, why would have It's just done
so incredibly well.
Speaker 7 (17:46):
The whole the whole.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
Atmosphere of these stadiums just off the court and been
rehearsing for the presentation and you can just get this.
There's so many seats, the colors that the vibe that
it hasn't even the players that have been arriving.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
Is to get here.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
You just see a different energy than what they have
in a normal week.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
So it's great.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
It really is a beautiful setup like the Black Cord,
and it's very atmospheric. It just looks so I don't know,
premium and high octane yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:17):
Yeah, I mean it's the detail that really sets it off.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
Like you took about coloring, you know, the blue for Europe,
the red four team World.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
The way that that change, we change ends and everything
flashes if they win a big point.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
It's just like it's pure entertainment as well.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
And what happens is that that makes the tennis even better.
Sometimes you think that it might be decision, but it
actually elevates and it's incredible, as you know a sport
that when we have one person stadium and people go
quietly sit down, but in this environment, everybody's into that
and it just really does it. And that's what's unique
(18:58):
and it's what's made it such a success.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Yes, yeah, it's always got a bit of an NBA
flavor to it, which is.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
Totally are the tickets sold out Totle you expecting full crow?
Speaker 7 (19:11):
I believe everything.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
So you know, again, when you walk into a space
that's this big, I'm not sure the total, but this
is bigger.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
Than what it looks like.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
You're in Berlin and you know, and you walk the
hallsy you talk about basketball, the Golden State Warriors, Steph
Curry's pictures all over the place. It's just it's got
an energy amazing.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
So let's have a look at the teams. Team Europe.
First up, we've got a brand new captain in Janick Noah,
with Tim Hemman as vice captain, and then an amazing,
amazing lineup. You've got Carlos kraz Zverev, Hogaroon, casparud, Jaka
Mensic and Flavio Koboli. Like not a bad team, yeah,
Team Europe.
Speaker 7 (19:48):
Maybe Team Europe.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
I mean, you've got Carlos new blonde, and I tell
you what, he's got to be an.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
Of a gone about him.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
At the moment. He's just big press thing at Alcatraz.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
That's the other thing here.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
He really gets some iconic moments that the players are
really much more to do and relax because of the environment.
But when you talk about Team I want to touch
on the captain first, Yannick Noah.
Speaker 7 (20:19):
Obviously, Team World has a new.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
Agacy and it's as though these things have flipped. If
you think of Macenroeborg, you've got this charismatic Yanick Noah.
I did a gig at the public Court today, a
refurbishment that Roger Federer was here in town. He's here
for the weekend with Yannick, and Yanick.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
Just holds court.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
He just oozes personality and it's vocal and funny and
than what.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
Beyond was just so totally different.
Speaker 6 (20:50):
Mac played that role previously, and Andre I've had a
couple of times where I've caught up with him for
five ten how he's going and feeling about the event.
He's very more the sterner, stricter straita of the two
are much more like where Beyond was. He just wants
to focus on the tennis, doesn't want, you know, too
much of the other peripherals, really just wants to be
(21:12):
with the guys out on court. So we've got a
real dynamic change and that's going to play a difference
once we get to matches as well, when we talk
more about the players themselves.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yeah, Tom, we've also got one of our own, Pat Rafter.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Yes so yeah, yes, so vice captains as well. So
I haven't seen Pat yet, I've seen him at a distance, but.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
He's going to be brilliant.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
You know, Pat brings a kind of a yearning Yang today.
Speaker 7 (21:40):
Rafter, because you know, Pat was.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
Always the instigator of pool in the locker room and
chit chat and hey ma, how you doing and you know,
going and tickling the feet of Pete Samples when Pete
didn't want him near him.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
What a visual I just got.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
It's true, and that will be very important in this
team because you've got different characters, haven't you. You've got
personalities that like to be engaged and focused and straight on,
and then he got other guys that like to have
a bit more fun, and that's what Pat will bring
to it. I also think Pat's going to bring a
real dynamic to a team that we haven't got to
those names yet that will need a lot of help.
(22:19):
There's a lot of new players in it that haven't
been in this environment. He's going to be able to
help a lot with you know, the game stuff. And yeah,
I think all of the guys that are here this
weekend from both teams really should pull Pat aside go
do a session with him about how to transition at net,
where to look for the passes, and how to volley.
If they all did that, that'll got their money's worth
out of just being at the.
Speaker 7 (22:40):
Labor Cup by having him here.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
By the way, so on Team World, tell me what
do you think about them? We've got Taylor Fritz, Alex
Demonor Francisco Cirundlo, Alex Nicholson, Raley Opelker and Duo Fonseca. Obviously,
we had some withdrawals from TrFO, Shelton and Paul all injured.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
So a young team but still pretty specky.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
He's pretty inspected, like really yeah.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
Yeah, and like early twenties, got the youngest player to
ever play Labor Cup in front Seca. He's he's got
a great energy about him. He's got that sort of
an Alcoraz feel and he's still learning, he's still developing,
he's still he's going to take him a little bit longer,
but wonderful to have him in here, and he's going
to he's going to bring a lot of fans that's going.
Speaker 7 (23:23):
To really help the team.
Speaker 6 (23:24):
They're going to need that noise. Then you've got Michoelson,
who is from southern California. If this is a home
tie for him, and he's sort of dreamed about playing
in these environments, but is inexperienced. And it's saying with
old Pelka's been here before. He's dangerous for this team
and he's going to have to play a pivotal part.
He doesn't mind saying a few words here and there
(23:46):
and antagonizing. So I think they need an antagonizer in
this team to really like rock the boat a little bit.
You know, we used to have Kirios so was able
to do that. Maybe Apelker is that kind of guy
in this team. Then if you go to that top end,
you've got Taylor Fritz who has twenty one points in
this competition. He's got more points than any other player.
(24:06):
I think that's actually playing this weekend, So he is
huge for a team world. He's going to have to
play a big part. Now his personality is more trying
to get the job done. Then he's going to be
backed up by Alex Dimenor now, so Alex is also
hugely important. He's got to play well. He's coming off
a tough weekend for Australia in Davis Cup, so he's
going to have to turn his energy into here. But
(24:28):
he's going to play a big part in this because
both singles and doubles, he's going to be needed for
combinations to really make things work. And I think that's
going to be the challenge for Andre and for Pat
is working out these combinations that are going to need
to win the doubles point because that has been crucial
for the team world in this competition to stay in
(24:48):
it and then also to give them their two victories.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Is there any doubles combinations there? You're excited to see
Todd forming that. I know it's the captain's choice, but
who you think my team?
Speaker 7 (24:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (24:59):
Well, you know, I haven't thought in depth about it
because the captains.
Speaker 7 (25:05):
Really work their puzzle, you know, the day.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
Before almost But Opelka is so dangerous in double so
who do you put with him? That's really solid?
Speaker 7 (25:13):
For me?
Speaker 6 (25:14):
It's probably a demon or I think that's one that
could be a real winner because you need contrast in
the doubles combo. So you've got him massive serving beer,
going to rip returns, but then you've got alex Is
going to make everything around him, so he sets up
those opportunities. So that's a combo that I would expect.
Probably it might even be used. So you can't save
(25:37):
it to the last day. It might be too late,
so probably day two.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Well it's interesting. So like unlike other ATP events or
any major tennis event, this has an escalating point value
as you go through the three days of the event.
So what other difference is what sort of makes aside
from being a team event, why does this stand out, Well,
it takes a lot of tactical precision, with one point
(26:01):
on day one for every win, two on day two,
and then three points on day three, and that's where.
Speaker 6 (26:06):
The doubles is critical because that's.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Played first and that can get you back in the game.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
That three point can change things dramatically on the Sunday.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
What you've got to work out is who.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
In the lineups are most likely to be able to
beat each other, what are.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Their head to heads, who can get you that point?
So we need to get off We are thinking that
Team World. I've got to be neutral here, but.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
You've got to get off to a good start on
that first day. Winning that first point seems to be critical.
So generally they'll put someone out that they're only going
to use once, and that's been the challenge is finding
who that person is. Surundlo has played that role a
couple of times, so Team World done a really good job.
But he's sitting in the middle of the pack for
(26:53):
that team now, so they're going to have to use
him at different times. I think the real challenge is
to get your head around that. So when you talk
about the scoring system. It's unique and it keeps it alive,
it keeps it so interesting, and the fact that doubles
plays that pivotal part in actually keeping things in there,
as it does in all the team competitions. I love
it for that reason, obviously because I'm a little bit biased.
(27:14):
I think it's the best part of the game.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah, brilliant. So looking at it, you didn't laugh at that?
Speaker 7 (27:19):
That was a joke.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Yeah, I was reading my notes and to be honest,
no one else laugh Yeah, it was going, Okay, how
do I trans Teddy? You are a comedic mastermind?
Speaker 7 (27:39):
Which which drops one? Would you like?
Speaker 6 (27:43):
That? Was?
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Good year tipping point reference week days? Chill?
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Nah?
Speaker 1 (27:49):
So looking at the scoreline, who's going to win this thing?
And do you think it's going to be a blowout
or is it going to come down to that last
match on day three?
Speaker 6 (27:56):
Well, the heavy favorites of Team Europe by a long way,
There's no doubt about that. So this is where team
competition really has to kick in and got to You've
got to talk to team where I say rankings don't
mean anything because accumulative rankings are so strong for Team World.
Sorry for Team Europe. I feel that Team Europe probably
has a pretty a pretty hefty victory this time around.
Speaker 7 (28:18):
I'll be surprised if they didn't.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
So I'm hoping it's not going to be all one
way traffic. But we'll get a very good indication after
day one how it's going to go. So that's you know,
that's a very pivotal thing to make sure you make
good choices if you're andre agacy about your matchups.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Very good. All right, quick game, I reckon, let's whiz
around the desk and online, and we're going to say
who's going to win and what's the score.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
I'm going to be okay, I'm going to go Europe
thirteen or okay, no, still a blowout.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Yeah, I'm going to go Team World. Oh, Patriot fifteen ten.
Speaker 6 (28:54):
Okayah.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
I've decided to change what I was going to say
earlier because I do like an underdog and I've gone
Team World to eleven thirteen.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
All down to the wire.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Yeah, because I think if they do win, it'll be close.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Close.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Yeah, they'll need that home crowd. Yeah, that's a good point,
and that will play a big factor in this. Maybe
some rowdy Brazilians too, Oh yeah, I'm.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Sure the will be there. They probably are.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Yeah, what about you, Todd, who you reckon Team Europe
or World.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
It's Team Europe that the heavy favorites, and I think
Team WORLL can get themselves six points, So.
Speaker 7 (29:30):
I'm going to say fifteen six to the Europeans.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
It's going to be a pretty exciting weekend over there
in San Francisco. Last question, celeb spotting. Have you seen
Steph Curry in the real Have you seen anyone Else's
John Han been shooting something down the road?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
No?
Speaker 6 (29:45):
No, They're just on the walls everywhere, But you know,
maybe they'll show up. That's the key thing about this event.
It brings in the big stars once the matches get underway.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
So I'll keep you posted.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
I'll take you up the selfiees if I'm allowed, or
maybe I'm not allowed to do that.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Do it, Todd stuff and do it.
Speaker 6 (30:03):
See what I can come up with. But it's going
to be a great weekend of tennis. As I said,
it's one of my favorite weekends of the year. And
let's hope that we do actually get a tight one,
because you know, a turn up for the books is
great for competition.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Amazing. So good to see you. We miss you, We
miss you.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
The whole office feels like they're here anyway.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah, they pretty much are. We're the only ones that
take it together.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
It's so quiet.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah, exactly. I'm using Craig's office. He's got a full
bar under his desk that won't be there when he
gets cleaned.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Already today, must bit of gin in vodka.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Oh yeah, mix it together, doesn't need any encouragement. This
is true. This ain't well Todd. Thank you so much
for your time. I know it's getting a bit late.
There have fun keepers posted. We'll be having our eyes
peeled on your socials and the events. Any other thoughts
or you're getting the heck out here?
Speaker 7 (31:00):
No, I'm going to get the heck out of here.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
It is only six thirty seven here, so even for
an old blow like me, that's too early to go
to beds.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Okay, fair enough, Well, time to take in some of
my sam friend nightlife.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Yes I will.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
All right, I'm off to visit the Golden gate.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Bridge's name of the bar.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
It is now, speaking of labor Cup and the newfound Captain,
Janick Noah actually sat down with viv Christie co host
of our sister podcast, VUS sit down and they discussed
the challenging transition of players going from rivals to teammates.
We've actually got a little clip, so let's have a
listen to that.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
Now, the competition is like so hard nowadays to each other.
And I understand, and I know and I can see
that there is, like, you know, some of the guys
the respect you know, for each other. But you know,
competition can be a disease, you know, and it's something
sometimes you work on, trying to hate your opponents in
(32:01):
order to perform better. And then now now we are
being teammates. So I really like this angle, you know
where I'm you know, we're going to talk to I'm
going to talk to human beings really not really players,
and say, you know, guys, we're going to spend like
this fantastic week together, you know, we representing Europe, and
(32:23):
let's just go out there, you know, play for each
other as friends and and we'll see how it goes.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Great interview between viv and Yanick Noah, who is who
won nineteen eighty three of What Freend Tip?
Speaker 1 (32:38):
That's my mother? Yeah, oh is in it.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
Yanick obviously is the Esteemed captain, as Todd said of
Team Europe.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Yeah, so good luck. So people at home, you can
listen to that full interview with Yanick Noah on sit Down.
You can drop the link in the description of this episode. Now,
I just realized something. Because of Todd and his busy,
busy schedule, we missed one of our eye catching moments,
(33:10):
the best of them, of course, and it's Brice Stewart,
bri My Esteemed co host, director of content for Tennis
Astraw and the Australian Open, owner of Many Red Wigs.
What your actually my real hair?
Speaker 6 (33:24):
Really?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
God?
Speaker 5 (33:26):
So the notes say I'm going to talk about weddings,
ding dong. However I've extended it to be a little bit.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
More about pop culture, okay, but.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
With weddings as well. So I'm going to run through
really quick.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Yeah, a few things that are happening out there in
the world that only someone like hang on.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
So are Tennis adjacent Tennis ad Jason okay.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Yeah, yeah, better suited to me obviously. So what is
happening out there?
Speaker 5 (33:50):
Matteo and Aldi announced his engagement to Australian Miersvillo this month,
which we're really excited about. They own a place here
in Melbourne, so we've actually, you know, we've kind of
taken over and he is now product.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
That's great.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
It's Australia almost like another home base for you now
because he as your girlfriend is, she lives here, she's.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
From We live together, we have so we live together.
It's like in my second home. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Used to work on his Aussie accent. But we're happy
to have him.
Speaker 5 (34:22):
I love and that was a really great interview, very
very lovely guy. Additionally, sources say that Venus Williams allegedly
gets married this.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Weekend somewhere in Italy or something Malfi.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
Coast, apparently again allegedly to her Italian actor producer partner Andrea.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Pretty alleged producer alleged.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
Yeah, apparently it's going to be a private wedding and
we're waiting for photos.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Is going to be up for sale, A private wedding
as long as you know the photographer's there and they sell.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Them from times.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
I was just by it. I'm all for it. If
anyone was interested in my wedding, I would have sold them.
Gave to make money on the side.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
So Casper rud and his fiance this week. Late last week,
actually have announcer expecting their first baby.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Oh tennis baby.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
No, so they got engaged late last year.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
It's all happening very quickly. It is good on them.
They're going to have a house in the suburbs and
a station wagon or they're.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Much further ahead than I on that one. Also yesterday
it's Serena and Venus Williams.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Then new podcast dropped.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Oh, so they're obviously like, oh, these people from Melbourne,
they know what they're doing. We can get in on
that arrival. Yeah, why are you plugging them?
Speaker 6 (35:33):
No?
Speaker 5 (35:33):
It's called Stockton Street Podcasts, and in it they talk
about their respective careers, relationships with each other, and lessons
they've learned, and they apparently feel like that they don't
really know each other because they've always spent so much
time apart, so it's a way to kind of reconnect. Yeah,
sounds interesting. A couple more or just one more. Andy
Murray has announced that he's he's since retiring. He's found
(35:57):
a hobby of accumulating artwork and so they've run out
of space on their walls, so they're having to put
it to his other place. In his four five star
Kromlik's hotel in Scotland.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
There are first world problems and then there's that.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
I thought it was really great.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
It's very interesting, but like a new hobby is buying art.
I thought he'd have kids sports to run them. Yeah,
he's busy, man. I think he was saying he was retiring.
I'm like, bitch, that's some old news.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
I thought you were going to say his brother's getting
a divorced.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
You know, Jamie Murray has split with his right wife
and is already on Raya.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yep, so that's kind in my notes. No, I'm still
on the waiting list.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Don't they know that it's been eleven months.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Let me in.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
He has a blue tick on Instagram. Yes, she paid
for it, but it's there. I didn't pay for bullshit.
I reckon. You have just scratched the surface. There is
so much always happening in the world.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
But I thought it'd be good for me to kind
of go around the grounds and all that kind of stuff.
And if someone wants to check out Novak Djokovic TikTok.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
He is doing a lot of dances on there.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Here's TikTok oh, he has TikTok. I think he's dancing
for his daughter. Probably did a k pop dance when
you want to match that.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
But like I thought, because when I do this stuff,
I go and look at people's stuff and if there's
anything interesting.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
But yeah, he's just dancing still, So.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Bra, we're going to stick with you because you've done
a little bit of pop culture, touched on a couple
of weddings. You've got something a bit of fun for us.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
Well.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Yeah, with a lot of our players out there getting
engaged or married or having babies, we're going to look
at the top five.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Weddings love it of tennis history.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
There's been a few.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
There's been a few, and we've.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
Got some photos as well, so we're starting lowest. So
number five five, we've got Novak Djokovic himself. He got
married in twenty fourteen to his childhood sweetheart, which I
quite like they've been together for ages, just days after
winning the men's title at Wimbledon.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
I do have a question. I wonder if he still
would have got married if he didn't win.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
He would have got married, but he would have been over.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Well no, but like you might have been in bad mood.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Yeah, but this would have buoyed his spirits look in
his eyes where it looks like Lake Como.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
Well, where was it Montenegro's Fetti Stefan resort and his
wife or then what do you call it? Fiance Yolena
Ristik was actually expecting their first child.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
When they got married.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
Oh wow, yeah, which I thought was quite cute. She
is in address by Alexander McQueen, which I actually.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
She looks beautiful, really approve of. He looks kind of
geeky in that photo in his gray suit.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
I think it's just the pose.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Okay, I thought he was that could be, but I
think you're right. I think he's using it as a
tennis racker. I think you're the what do you call
it the bouquet, always doing like an NFL touchdown. He's
about to smash that on.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Yeah, And so this was They had two kind of
photos they put out there to the press. It was
this one and then another one where he'd done like
a love heart shape on her belly for the baby.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
But I thought that was a little bit, oh yeah,
too much.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Now that does it like a very fun wedding. Good
on them.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yeah, we're going to move to four.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Oh now this looks fun, isn't this photo.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
It's like out of vogue.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
It really does.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Caroline was Anaki. You're also welcome to guests. Did I
say it wrong?
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Was Niaki?
Speaker 5 (39:24):
Caroline was Niaki and her former NBA player David Lee.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
They were married in Tuscany.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
In Italy at the say this right but cas lyon
Del Bosco Hotel, Sure to know in twenty nineteen. The
ceremony was attended by one hundred and twenty friends in family.
She wore a custom Oscar de la Rena, which I
also approve of, and Serena Williams was a bridesmaid.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
WHOA, that's a good guy.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Do you reckon?
Speaker 4 (39:51):
She has like one of the best rings on tour.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Is it hug You've probably seen it up close with yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah, oh yeah? And online they did this well.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
So. The festivities included a welcome party with fireworks and
a competitive athlete focused game. The reception featured a four
T cake and dancing to Lucas Graham's Love Someone, which
was also their first dance, and they had an immersive
rehearsal dinner as it was themed like an Italian market.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Oh this Italian mafia. The day of my daughter's wedding
close but yeah, I'll give props to this. You know
how bridesmaids like historically they're meant to have like really
ugly dresses to elevate the look of the bride. Carra
looks beautiful there, but they're really nice dresses on the brides.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Maid I do like it.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Or they are two guests who very awkwardly wore the
same thing.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Cool, we're going to move into number three. Madison Keys,
so she's in here. Because it looked like a big
party and they absolutely loved it. She said it was
the best day of her life or best weekend of
her life. She married till she won, so she got
(41:03):
married in twenty twenty four, and then one after then
one the Australian opened not long after and she married
Jorn Fratjello.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Sorry everyone just married someone called John Smith for me,
just for.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Player gen coach.
Speaker 5 (41:18):
So yeah, I loved it because in all the photos
that you saw in the press, it was kind of
like this one we've got up. But for our listeners
at home, it's just a photo you would shoot on
your own iPhone of kind of like blurred people in
the background and people having fivery real stage.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
So it looked really fun.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Oh good, where was that one? Sorry? Did you already say?
Speaker 6 (41:38):
Oh? Sorry?
Speaker 2 (41:38):
I didn't say.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
I'm pretty sure it was yeah, South Carolina, and then
Jess Pagilla was there, Taylor Townsend and Jennifer Brady, among others.
So we're going to go to two, which could have
been one. Now, I'm just indicating this is not a
wedding photo.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
Doesn't look comfortable, and she's not dressed in white.
Speaker 5 (41:58):
That's when they first got together a few years back,
well quite a few years back now, and it was hot.
It was a Vogue shoot. There are no photos of
their wedding, and this is why it's number two and
why I love it. Days before Graff was due to
give birth to their first child in October two thousand
and one, shin Agacy tied the knot in a low
key ceremony. The tennis star and Gaff Gaff Graf invited
(42:24):
their mothers in a Nevada judge to their house and
they got married in their courtyard, barefoot and wearing jeans.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Wow, that sounds like a proper Vegas. Well, I love it.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
The couple used twists of old raffia that graph found
in a drawer for their wedding bands well planned.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
Sounds like a lot of time went into it.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
It sounds very them right, they're both very relaxed people.
So yeah, I loved it. But that's not their wedding photo.
Speaker 5 (42:53):
Good photo though, yeah, now one is really special and
mine isn't it.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
Did you wear like a three piece sit in a
top hat?
Speaker 6 (43:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (43:02):
No, no, I did have a bow tie though, it
was It was cool.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Okay, we'll move Number one.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
Kenny ken Rosewell, he married Wilma McIvor, who.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Was also a.
Speaker 5 (43:18):
Former representative tennis player for Queensland. It's in John's Cathedral,
Brisbane on the sixth of October nineteen fifty six. Why
is Kenny in here? It was described in press reports
as Brisbane's society wedding of the year. Over two thousand
people in attendance outside the church and eight hundred guests
in the cathedral.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
That's incredible.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
That was amazing.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
What a superstar he is though, And he was at
Davis Cup day one and day two, sat there the whole.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Time with his son still fighting fit.
Speaker 5 (43:49):
He is so Ken Ten's ninety one in November, and
it's so funny when I was researching even like he
comes up in chat GBT. It's one of the most
like most important tennis once you've broken into But.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
You know what I mean, Like, you know, you're like, wow,
Kenny's in there. I just think what a dapper fellow.
Speaker 3 (44:09):

I'm totally bringing that up next week.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
And honorable Dash and Luke. I'm not sure what they did, Jamie,
do you can you tell us what?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Albert Park. Oh that's cool, Yeah, that's nice.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
That's at the tennis quarter at the park.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
No, no, across across from the golf course.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Oh, yes, I've been to that to it training, of course.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
I'm sure a wedding it was.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
If anyone's still listening, We've got some more information from
Off Mike producer Vic letting us know that Tofu the
famous tennis dog actually brought their ring down.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
He ran down the aisle. Yeah, couldn't pick him up
because her dress was like corsets.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
And then up I thought you were going to is
on his way to the vets to get his tears
cleaned because he is Instagram.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Maybe he ate the ring and they're waiting for it
to come.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Out of the back. How many years on five it's launched?
Speaker 1 (45:40):
That was a very good top five?
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Well do I think I did well this week?
Speaker 7 (45:46):
Now?
Speaker 1 (45:46):
That so that brought me joy, But it's also brought
us to the end of the show. But before we
do a bit more joy ace of the week, this
is where we with around the table see what has
happened this week or is maybe coming up on the
weekend that brought you a bit of happiness. Let's start
with Jamie.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
What can I go with?
Speaker 6 (46:02):
Two?
Speaker 1 (46:03):
Sure? Twenty five seconds?
Speaker 4 (46:05):
The World Champs in Tokyo, the track and field. I've
been watching that last couple of days. That's been unreal.
And then on Saturday and celebrating my birthday with some friends.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Yeah, where are you going?
Speaker 4 (46:15):
Just down to Richmond.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
We'll see you there, see you there, I'll send you
the invite. Yeah, we're all friends.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Absolutely and with nine seconds left on the clock, well done,
a reset the serve clock down him.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
Off a so of the week.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
So just across Punt Road, I'll beat the m CG
cheering on the mighty lines against Collingwood, going to yeah, yeah,
come on, come on.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
That's fine, I'll take the hat.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
I like, yeah, thanks, Bree, I do I like, thank you.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
We can tell.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (46:51):
Oh that's a bit of a turn coat, you Sydney Richmond.
Richmond chimes up is a very good one. Have fun
with that, Brie. What was your race of the week.
Speaker 5 (47:02):
So yesterday I went to my friend who became an
Australian citizen. I know, yeah, So it just was it's
my ace of the week because it's really beautiful to
sit in a room and see all these amazing people
who are becoming Australian and just the speeches and stuff
about how like there's one hundred and fifty people in
here with one hundred and fifty stories and we really
(47:22):
happen to have you here, and it just reminded me
that there is still some good out there.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
But it's not a long ceremony like it's quite.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Like an hour and twenty hours was.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
They're pretty moving on.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
Oh yes, I had goosebumps. It's so good.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
And you got that in just down of the wire.
Where was you? Where was your friend from? Like, what's there?
But she's got she's got Scott coming in here.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Yeah, she's got that's really cool.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
Not well done, myce the week it's pretty boring. But
ages ago we were talking about a Netflix show called
Adolescence and we all loved it.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
Okay good, And.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
This week the Amies were on and it bloody cleaned up.
The dad, the kid, the psychiatrist, actress, the producer, the producer,
the right of the director. And I'm like, boom, a
really good show getting the recognition it deserves and it
has nothing to do with me. It made me really happy.
And I was like I was that texting everything like
yeah cool, but I'm like, no, it's really good.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
I text you about it too. At least I was
the only person that was feeling the same.
Speaker 9 (48:18):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
It just just made me smile and I'm like, yeah,
I think it was one of those things where you go,
it's good to see some good in the world. The quality, Yeah,
lived up to the hip, Yeah, rewarded reserve. So that
is it for us once again. If you've stuck around
this long, well done, Jamie Dan incredible as always. I
hope you have great weekends. Thanks being appraiched to you.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
Loved it.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
Thanks for the yes. Oh she thinks she gets to
keep it. That's awkward, but we're going to eat it. Okay,
good Yeah, and I promise not just smush your face
into it because that's that unicorn horn looks pretty damaging.
Ow and Bri, you were incredible today. Thank you so much.
She broke my shoulder again, I mean, Brie, thanks so
much for being here once again.
