Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wear mean, doctor Beshad, you can't see my eyes so
that my head.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Has been you. I like something.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Big flying.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I saw you back there, Bob into it.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I was gonna ask you, did you like the New
York Giants version of that song to ball and when
they won the Super Bowl that year, he had made
a New York Giants version.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Oh, I did not realize that. I gotta listen to
yeah balling.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah, that song was huge because remember they were they
were all doing it for celebration that year. They were
doing the Jim Jones balling shot when they would get
sacks and stuff like that, straight hand and all. He
made a New York Giants version of it. So yeah,
you have to check that out. All right. We're starting
things off Appalachian State at James Madison and James Madison

(00:56):
is a twenty and a half point favorite in this one,
and that's because they have an offense that is twenty
third in the FBS at thirty five points per game
and they're only giving up seventeen. That's good for twelfth
and all of the FBS and Applellati State. When you
talk about what is ailing this football team one hundred
and eleventh and third down percentage. They are one hundred

(01:17):
and twelfth in the FBS with a minus five turnover margin,
and both of these teams ranked one hundred twenty six
and one hundred and twenty eighth respectively and penalty yards
per game. So this could get very undisciplined out here.
But when you talk about what I think is going
to happen, app State will be falling and they will
not be cover balling.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, you think it's gonna get ugly for them. Look,
James Madison is a team that is looking to possibly
make the College Football Playoff.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
There's a path for this to happen.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yes, I do think James Madison has entered a realm
where they are considered to be maybe a Boise State light.
I don't that's about I think as high of a
reputation you can build being that kind of mid major
football program, Boise State has earned the right to get
a lot of respect and maybe even more so than
some of these other college Football playoff teams. James Madison,

(02:07):
They've been so good for so long, like across different
coaches now to where you can just almost lock it
in that they're going to be a pretty good program
all that to say they're going to get the benefit
of the doubt. All that to say, I think that
they're going to be driven to put themselves in that
situation to continue to get the benefit of the doubt
when it comes to the selection process. With that being said,
James Madison, they cover. There's no worry about an upset

(02:30):
here in my opinion, and it means they're falling and
win the.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Game because they need the app State will be falling.
They need they need style points. Finally, go ahead, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, I mean, James Madison, I think you're right. They're
going to need style points. They want to continue to
show that they are one of, if not the best
com Group of five conference champion. I mean, remember we
talked about the scenario where they could be playing to
make the College Football Playoff if the ACC gets as
crazy as it possibly does. I think this team will

(03:01):
dominate this game. I don't see app State, I mean,
especially the way they're playing this year. Man, I mean,
I think I think app State's gonna get blown out
in this one.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
All right, Moving on another game, they could get ugly
South Carolina game cor search searching for a victory, and
now they will go to College station to try to
find one one of the toughest places to play in
all of college football if they will take on the
number three Texas A and m Aggie's and they are
a nineteen and a half point favorite. A season ago,

(03:32):
forty four twenty loss in Colombia marked the start of
a late season collapse that turned a seven and one
start into an eight and five finish. So you're talking
about guys who won't be too thrilled about what happened
the last time they saw a team. Texas A and
M will not when you talk about South Carolina, they
only average a nineteen point seven points per game and
they've given up thirty four sacks this season.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
That is not good.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
When you're going up against a Texas A and M
team that is only given up twenty three points per
game and they've got thirty four sacks. Then number one
in the FBS for getting after that quarterback and averaging
thirty eight points a game, And you know, I got
to throw in my chambers a lom Casey conceptsy On
has re vitalized himself in Kyleee Station. What he catches
six hundred and twenty nine yards eight touchdowns, he's got

(04:18):
so far. So yeah, I say all have to say,
South Carolina will be falling, will not be coverball.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I view South Carolina now as the Crispy Chickens because
Wes said that his projection of South Carolina, his vision
was so clear on them losing every single one of
these games, that the vision was crispy. It's nor a
word he had used previously, nor word he's used since
it was only for that specific moment that he said
that his vision was crispy. So the South Carolina Crispy Chickens,

(04:45):
and I like Christpa Chicken, who doesn't. They'll be falling
and it's bad times down in South Carolina, where now
we're already having conversations about them losing. Lenora sellers off
of the heels of him supposedly being a top five pick.
Shula gets fired as offensive line coach.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Five.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Oh boy, it's bad with the Crispy Chickens. They're following
in this one. What you got on over there?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Floundering?

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Yeah, I mean South Carolina is just having a terrible,
terrible season.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I'm trash, Yeah, you really are.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
It's very honestly at this point, and Texas a and m.
I mean again, this is a team that I feel
like probably feels like they're being disrespected. I think in
their minds they believe that they are the best team
in the country. By the way that they have been
playing so far this year. Feels like this is a
chance to make another statement. We've seen them play some
close games, though recently they did against Arkansas, they kept

(05:38):
them around for a little while. They might do the
same to South Carolina, but I think they'll backdoor cover.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
So yeah, surely first South Carolina. All Right, walko mayo
UTSA at Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I don't mind this line, Okay, but I'm going to
as eighteen and a half in favor of UTSA. But
if the forty nine ers want to try to find
something that they can attack, this is not a good defense.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
They are one hundred and twenty second in Division One
in terms of opposition scoring, giving up thirty three points
per game. All right, Charlotte, Yes, they are one hundred
and twenty eighth then scoring at eighteen points. They've shown
some signs. Grayson loffas has been thrown in around the
park a little bit. Charlotte will not be balling. They

(06:25):
will be falling, but I think they just might be
cover ballt in this one. Give me Charlotte to cover ball.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
I think this is a good take, and it's not
even like Texas. San Antonio has been posting a lot
of points on the board either, so you have that
going for him. I guess they did score forty eight
against Tulane, so I will stand corrected on that, and
sixty to one against Rice. I apologize for saying some
of that that was bad analysis. They do kind of
go up and down with their offense. I think that's

(06:52):
probably a better way to say it. Either way. Give
me Charlotte to cover. I think it's been a bad season,
there's no doubt about it. But I think Grayson Loftus
has shown us something in terms of throwing downfield and
maybe even in the intermediate area. He's had some good
throws the last couple of games. It seems real. Forty
nine ers coverballing outright falling?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, I like it. Thanks job, here we go, all right,
I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
I do think that Charlotte will be coverballing in this one.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I just yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
I mean, utsa, they were a team coming into the
year high expectations, hasn't been as great as I think
people thought they were gonna be. So that's what opens
the door a little bit for Charlotte. But I find
it hard to see Charlotte winning the game. They'll keep
it close though.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Moving on on frid Night, Clemson travel to Louisville. Well,
Louisville is just a two and a half point favorite.
Isaac Brown, Louisville's dynamic running back, will not be playing
in this game. Since October one, Clemson has averaged thirty
five points four hundred and forty five yards of offense.
That's nineteenth in the country in both categories. Louisville aims

(07:59):
for third third Friday Night win of the season. They
defeated James Madison in Miami, so we got to add
James Madison as a nice win for Louisville's resume. Both
of Louisville's losses this season have come in overtime by
combined six points, and Clemson a win would secure at
least a five hundred acc record for the twenty seventh
straight season. Well, this line is pretty telling of what

(08:25):
Vegas thinks about this. I'm a little bit surprised that
it is as light as it is. It could open
the door for potentially thoughts of a Clemson upset, but
I don't think they will be able to pull it off.
I think this will be a close one all the
way down to the end. Give me Louisville to win,
in Clemson to be falling. It's spin on the road
for the Tigers, so it's tough.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Might have gone Clemson a little more convincingly if it
was in Death Valley. As much as I do like
Louisville the Tigers, they have had one thing working for
them for the most part. Their offense has steadied. They
have been putting up some points. It's amazing. Their defenses
as bad as it is, right, absolutely zero excuse, zero
excuse from everybody involved. I can't do it. I got

(09:12):
to see it before I believe it. With Clemson again,
I'm going Louisville. Louisville's ball.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yeah, I think I think Clemson's on blowout alert here.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I gotta be yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
I mean, look, man, their offense, they've had moments where
they've looked good so far this season, but I mean,
Cade club Dick's not one hundred percent healthy. This defense, yeah,
this defense just stinks, man, Like you just have to
call it out at this point, even with all the
guys that they have on that side of the ball.
I mean, it's it's unbelievable. Honestly, I'm trying. Yeah, you

(09:46):
really are so. I I think I think Louisville wins
this game. I think they win it pretty significantly and
pick up a big win because they're going to be
motivated coming off that loss last week to Cal.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
We've got NC State going to Miami to take on
the number fifteen Hurricanes. Miami's a sixteen and a half
point favorite. The last six matchups between these teams have
been decided by an average margin of seven point four points,
with three of those by three points or fewer. Miami
owns a plus fourteen point nine scoring average this season,
with five victories by fourteen points or more. I think

(10:20):
Miami right now they are certainly going to be on
a mission, even though we know what the mission was
from the beginning that they have faltered at so far,
but I think they handled that business in this one.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
NC State will be falling. They randomize it all the time.
I want to do it, but I can't see. I
don't trust either one of these teams. To be consistent.
So who do I trust the most out of these
two squads. It's going to be Miami, which means yes,
a wolf packed they're falling, which Flounder already gave you

(10:50):
the SoundBite. I think that there's potential here, but ultimately
give me, give me the Canes here to get the dub.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Yeah, I'm I mean, what do you expect from me?

Speaker 4 (11:02):
You think I'm picking NC State That is not happening. No,
I mean, in all seriousness, I think this will be
an incredibly close game. I would be stunned. I cannot
believe the line on that is sixteen and a half.
That is crazy to me. This is a team that
just upset Georgia Tech, so I think they'll they'll give
some fight, but I think Miami does just enough to

(11:23):
be able to win this game. But it'll still be
one of those wins that'll have you saying, Miami, are
you really okay?

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah? All right? Duke believe it or not.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
A four and a half point favor over number nineteen
Virginia in this one as they get the Who's at
Home derid mensa, one of the nation's top passing attacks.
Duke houses they ranked first in the ACC and fourth
nationally and passing offense and twentieth in total offense, going
up up against a Virginia defense that has been holding

(11:52):
it down for him because Chandler Morris, we don't know
he could play. He could not, And even though they
lost to the way for his demon Deacons, they did
limit that to just two hundred and three total yards,
including just sixty four yards through the air, which isn't
saying much because Wake Force quarterbacks, we know how sporadic
they can be. This is a tough one to pick,
especially with Duke being favored in this one. But I'm
still gonna take Virginia on the road. Coming off of

(12:15):
an upset loss, Duke will be falling.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
So I'm gonna trust Duke in this spot. And there's
reason I should. I just think that Virginia is free falling.
With how impressed or not impressed I've been with even
some of their victories that they've had here recently. I
think you're gonna mess around with the wrong one in mensa,
like you can't not put points on the board.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
You can't, you know, have some of.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
These turnovers that Virginia might be susceptible to every once
in a while yourself. It can't be a lackluster defense.
Duke is still real talented offensively, and I do think
they're going to be able to put points on the board.
Do I trust Virginia to keep up even with a
terrible defense that Duke has no doubt about it? I
think Duke I might even pick him to cover. Yeah,
that's a little frogy with this line. Is telling me

(12:59):
that channel Morris probably play. I would say, all the
more reason for me to have Duke balling in this
one Blue Devil's they get the dub.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Yeah, I mean Chandler Morris even if he does play,
how healthy is he gonna be? I don't know about that.
This Virginia team feels a lot like Carolina from a
few years ago when they lost to Georgia Tech and
that derailed their entire season. Feels like this is a
very similar type of team. Now, Wake Forest much better
than that Georgia Tech team that beat Carolina, But it

(13:26):
felt like that was the loss that all of a
sudden gets them think at all, here we go. Now
we're gonna be coming back to reality, and especially without
your quarterback, I'm gonna do it. Man, I'm gonna I'm
gonna trust Duke too. I think they're gonna find a
way to get this done.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
All right. Yeah, mine is a little contingent on Chandler
Morri's plan, but I'm gonna operate on the premise that
he is all right. The showdown North Carolina at wake Forest.
Wake Forest and a half point favorite, and this one
could be a Rock'm sock him. The squad could end
up being seven to three. And this one when you
talk about these two teams getting together, defense ranked second

(14:01):
in the ACC, eleventh nationally with three sacks per game.
Wake Forest's defense as well, holding opponents to just under
twenty point three points per game, second best mark in
the ACC. This is a tough one because this is
going just how I thought it was going to. I
thought North Carolina was gonna start getting it together once
they got ready to play the wake Forest Demon Deacons.

(14:21):
This will be a very good atmosphere. I believe on Saturday,
c W Gag your boy will be on the sidelines
yet again. I think that my Wake Forest Demon Deacons
though find a way to get it done.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
They will be balling. North Carolina will be falling.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
So you can run on wake Forest a little bit.
They're not great against the run, but I think they're
going to be good enough. And at some point you're
gonna have to trust g Lopez to make plays against
that defense.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
And I don't think that's gonna happen. Now.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
You could just be looking rash at some kind of
sixteen to ten game. I mean, I think that's on
the table, a real low scoring affair, because it's not
like I trust wake Forest offense all that much.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
And it's got to get those legs. Is this gonna
be ugly? I think it is. Yeah. Oh God, give
me wake to ball.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, this game is gonna be about as ugly as me.
So beautiful, thank you. It's this. This will be a
tough game, There's no doubt about it. It's gonna be
one in the trenches. I think Carolina's defense playing well,
Wakes defense playing very well. If the final score of
this game, if the team that wins this game scores

(15:30):
thirty points, I would be absolutely stunned. I mean too,
that would make no sense based off of what we've
seen recently. So it's a game that I think will
be playing the team played in the teams man Geo
the thing about Geo Man is he has not looked
good in these first halves, but he has stepped up
in these second halves. Carolina's run game not looking great,

(15:52):
but hopefully they'll be able to run the ball a
little bit better. I trust this defense, you know what,
I'm gonna trust in my guy, Milk Booze your day
to go off at his line balling in this one.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Yeah, he worries me. The over and in this game
is thirty eight and a half, so Vegas looks like
they are expecting a low scoring game as well.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
