Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to the West and Walker Show as
a kid. I still remember my first big catch. I
caught a catfish West. It was with a piece of
hot dog. It's Wes my little dad. I caught it
with a hot dowar and Walker. My dad and my
uncle that drank some moonshine. Afterwards we played the banjo

(00:20):
only on Sports Radio ninety two point seven f M
W F n C.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Welcome back, folks.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
It's a tea. What's it thrilling and chilling? Isn't it
thrilling Chillingsday? I thought it was TCT. That's right, TCT
chilling Tuesday because I did the acronym last week Thursday.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Excuse me, sorry.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Welcome back to the West and Walker Show from the
Channel of Voter the studio CV Injury Law dot Com
at CV injury Law dot Com.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
One call.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
That's all the Carolina's personal injury lawyers. Make your voice
heard on the FanDuel text line seven O four five
seven oh ninety six ten. And I know you will
want to make your voice heard in this next segment
because it's time for balling or falling flying.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
You know what to drop that intrum wear.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Mean doctor beshet. You can't see my eyes, bless my
head has been you, sir.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Show I like something mcclining. I saw you back there,
bob into it.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I was gonna ask you, did you like the New
York Giants version of that song to Balling When they
won the Super Bowl that year, he had made a
New York Giants version.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Oh, I did not realize that. I gotta listening.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, balling.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yeah, that song was huge because remember they were they
were all doing it for celebration that year. They were
doing the Jim Jones ball and shot when they would
get sacks and stuff like that, straight hand and all this.
He made a New York Giants Sarah version of it.
So yeah, you have to check that out.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
All right.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
We're starting things off Appalachian State at James Madison and
James Madison is a twenty and a half point favorite
in this one, and that's because they have an offense
that is twenty third in the FBS at thirty five
points per game and they're only giving up seventeen. That's
good for twelfth and all of the FBS and Appalachian
State when you talk about what is ailing this football

(02:34):
team one hundred and eleventh and third down percentage. They
are one hundred and twelfth in the FBS with a
minus five turnover margin, and both of these teams ranked
one hundred and twenty six and one hundred and twenty
eighth respectively and penalty yards per game.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So this could get.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Very undisciplined out here. But when you talk about what
I think is going to happen, app State will be
falling and they will not be cover ball.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah, you think it's going to get ugly for them. Look,
James Madison is a team that is looking to possibly
make the College Football Playoff.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
There's a path for this to happen.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yes, I do think James Madison has entered a realm
where they are considered to be maybe a Boise State light.
I don't that's about I think as high of a
reputation you can build being that kind of mid major
football program, Boise State has earned the right to get
a lot of respect and maybe even more so than
some of these other college Football playoff teams. James Madison,

(03:29):
They've been so good for so long, like across different
coaches now to where you can just almost lock it
in that they're going to be a pretty good program.
All that to say they're going to get the benefit
of the doubt. All that to say, I think that
they're going to be driven to put themselves in that
situation to continue to get the benefit of the doubt
when it comes to the selection process. With that being said,
James Madison, they cover. There's no worry about an upset

(03:52):
here in my.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Opinion, and it means they're falling and win the game
because they need or the app State will be falling.
They need style points. Finally, go ahead, Yeah, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
James Madison, I think you're right. They're gonna need style points.
They want to continue to show that they are one of,
if not the best com Group of five conference champion.
I mean, remember we talked about the scenario where they
could be playing to make the College Football Playoff if
the ACC gets as crazy as it possibly does. I
think this team will dominate this game. I don't see

(04:26):
app State, I mean, especially the way they're playing this year. Man,
I mean, I think app State's gonna get blown out
in this one.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
All right, Moving on another game, they could get ugly
South Carolina game cock search searching for a victory, and
now they will go to College Station to try to
find one one of the toughest places to play in
all of college football if they will take on the
number three Texas A and m Aggie's and they are
a nineteen and a half point favorite. A season ago,

(04:55):
forty four twenty loss in Colombia mark the start of
a late season laps that turned a seven and one
start into an eight and five finish. So you're talking
about guys who won't be too thrilled about what happened
the last time they saw a team. Texas A and
M will not when you talk about South Carolina. They
only averaged nineteen point seven points per game and they've

(05:15):
given up thirty four sacks this season.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
That is not good.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
When you're going up against a Texas A and M
team that has only given up twenty three points per
game and they've got thirty four sacks. Then number one
in the FBS for getting after that quarterback and averaging
thirty eight points a game, And you know, I got
to throw in my chambers a lum Casey conceptsy On
has revitalized himself in College Station. Forty catches, six hundred

(05:38):
and twenty nine yards eight touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
He's got so far so.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah, I say all that to say South Carolina will
be falling, will not be coverball.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I viewed South Carolina now as the Crispy Chickens because
Wes said that his projection of South Carolina, his vision
was so clear on them losing every single one of
these games, that the vision was crispy. It's nor a
word he had used previously. Word he's used since it
was only for that specific moment that he said that
his vision was crispy. So the South Carolina Crispy Chickens,

(06:07):
and I like chris Chickens.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Who doesn't.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
They'll be falling, and it's bad times down in South Carolina,
where now we're already having conversations about them losing. Lenora
sellers off of the heels of him supposedly being a
top five pick. Mike Shula gets fired as offensive four
line coach.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Five.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Oh boy, it's bad with the Crispy Chickens. They're falling
in this one. What you got over there floundering?

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Yeah, I mean South Carolina is just having a terrible,
terrible season.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
I'm trash.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Yeah, you really aren't. It's very honestly at this point,
and Texas a and m. I mean again, this is
a team that I feel like probably feels like they're
being disrespected. I think in their minds they believe that
they are the best team in the country. By the
way that they have been playing so far this year.
Feels like this is a chance to make another statement.
We've seen them play some close games, though recently they

(06:58):
did against Arkansas, they kept them around for a little while.
They might do the same to South Carolina, but I
think they'll backdoor cover.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
So yeah, Charlie for South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
All right, Walker mayl Utsa at Charlotte, I don't mind
this line, Okay, but I'm going to ask eighteen and
a half in favor of Utsa. But if the forty
nine ers want to try to find something that they
can attack, this is not a good defense.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
They're one hundred and twenty second in Division One in
terms of opposition scoring, giving up thirty three points per game.
All right, Charlotte, Yes, they are one hundred and twenty eighth.
Then scoring at eighteen points. They've shown some signs. Grayson
loftas has been thrown in around the park a little bit.
Charlotte will not be balling. They will be falling, but

(07:48):
I think they just might be coverballing in this one.
It means Charlotte to cover ball.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
I think this is a good take. And it's not
even like Texas. San Antonio has been posting a lot
of points on the board either, so you have that
going for him. I guess they did score forty eight
against Tulane, so I will stand corrected on that, and.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Sixty to one against Rice.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I apologize for saying some of that that was bad analysis.
They do kind of go up and down with their offense.
I think that's probably a better way to say it.
Either way, give me Charlotte to cover.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
I think it's.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Been a bad season, there's no doubt about it. But
I think Grayson Loftus has shown us something in terms
of throwing downfield and maybe even in the intermediate area.
He's had some good throws the last couple of games.
It seems real forty nine ers coverballing outright falling?

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, I like it. Thanks, Joe, here.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
We go, all right. I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
I do think that Charlotte will be coverballing in this one.
I just yeah, I mean, utsa, they were a team
coming into the year high expectations hasn't been as great
as I think people thought they were going to be.
So that's what opens the door a little bit for Charlotte.
But I find it hard to see Charlotte winning the game.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
They'll keep it close, though, all right.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Moving on on Friday Night, Clemson travel to Louisville, where
Louisville is just a two and a half point favorite.
Isaac Brown, Louisville's dynamic running back, will not be playing
in this game. Since October one, Clemson has averaged thirty
five points four hundred and forty five yards of offense.
That's nineteenth in the country in both categories. Louisville aimes

(09:21):
for its third Friday Night win of the season. They
defeated James Madison in Miami, so we got to add
James Madison as a nice win for Louisville's resume. Both
of Louisville's losses this season have come in overtime by
combined six points, and Clemson a win would secure at
least a five hundred acc record for the twenty seventh
straight season. Well, this line is pretty telling of what

(09:47):
Vegas thinks about this. I'm a little bit surprised that
it is as light as it is. It could open
the door for potentially thoughts of a Clemson upset, but
I don't think they will be able to pull it off.
I think this will be a close one all the
way way down to the end. Give me Louisville to
win and Clemson to be falling.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
It's been on the road for the Tigers, so it's tough.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Might have gone Clemson a little more convincingly if it
was in Death Valley. As much as I do like Louisville,
the Tigers, they have had one thing working for them
for the most part. Their offense has steadied. They have
been putting up some points. It's amazing. Their defenses as
bad as it is, right, absolutely zero excuse, zero excuse
from everybody involved. I can't do it. I got to

(10:35):
see it before I believe it. With Clemson again, I'm
going Louisville. Louisville's falling.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Yeah, I think I think Clemson's on blowout alert here.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I gotta be yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
I mean, look, man, their.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Offense, they've had moments where they've looked good so far
this season, but I mean, Cade club Dick's not one
hundred percent healthy.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
This defense, yeah, this defense just stinks, man, Like, you.

Speaker 6 (10:58):
Just have to call it out at this point, even
with all the guys that they have on that side
of the ball. I mean, it's it's unbelievable. Honestly, I'm tried. Yeah,
you really are.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
So.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
I think I think Louisville wins this game. I think
they win it pretty significantly and pick up a big
win because they're going to be motivated coming off that
loss last week to Cal.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
All Right, when we come back, folks, we got a
few more games to get thrown ball in a fall
and then we give you Panthers Falcons Top ten.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
This is Wess and Walker. It's time for.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
The twenty third annual WUF and C Street Turkeys, presented
by Rampaiments.

Speaker 8 (11:39):
As always, Street Turkeys will take place at the WFNZ
Doghouse powered by Jack Daniels on Wednesday, November twenty six.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
Sports Radio wfn C, Second Harvest, Food Bank of Metrolina
and Nourisha will be joining forces for a full day
of gathering donations, crows and turkeys and can goods to
distribute holiday meals. Do fan you need.

Speaker 8 (12:01):
It's the twenty third annual Street Turkey's presented by Ram
pavement and brought to you in part by t R
Long and One Cloud.

Speaker 7 (12:09):
It's only from Sports Radio ninety two point seven UFNZ,
the official home of the Charlotte Sports Fan.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
And just like that, folks, we return here on the
West and Walker Shulp.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
From the tail of bout the studios.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
We got a chance for you to win a four
pack of tickets to appoint it versus Oklahoma City Thunder
Saturday November fifteenth at Spectrum Center. Text the word con
like I'm ca nipple to win. Now, we normally help
you out with the spelling, but we're not going to
do it this time. You got to do a little
bit of work. If you can go online if you

(12:45):
don't know how to spell his name and go find it.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
But we're not going to help you this time. It's con.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
But how hilarious would it be if we ask them
to spell canipple?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Right? Oh yeah, that'd be good.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
So what happens, Just to give you guys a peek
behind the curtain. What happens is when you send us
the trigger word, it goes to a bank and we
actually don't see your text messages on the feed that
we usually get. The text messages, so we don't see
those entries. Those go to a separate bucket, and then
that's where the producers flounder in this case, gets to
choose from. I would imagine we'd get a lot of

(13:19):
nipple text on our fantom text luck question. Yeah, autocorrect
would be working heavy duty. And if we ask for
the last name, yep.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
All right, so again, four pack of tickets hornets versus Okay,
see Saturday, November fifteenth, a spectrum center.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Text con to win, all right.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Getting back to balling or falling, We've got NC State
going to Miami to take on the number fifteen Hurricanes.
Miami's a sixteen and a half point favorite. The last
six matchups between these teams have been decided by an
average margin of seven point four points, with three of
those by three points or fewer. Miami owns a plus
fourteen point nine scoring average this season, with five victories

(13:56):
by fourteen points or more. I think Miami right now
they are certainly going to be on a mission, even
though we know what the mission was from the beginning,
that they have faulted it so far, but I think
they handled that business in this one.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
NC State will be falling they randomize it all the time.
I want to do it, but I can't see. I
don't trust either one of these teams to be consistent. Yeah,
so who do I trust the most out of these
two squads? It's going to be Miami, which means yes,
a wolf packed they're falling, which flounder already gave you

(14:28):
the SoundBite. I think that there's potential here, but ultimately,
give me, give me the Canes here to get the
get the dub.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Yeah, I mean, what.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Do you expect from me? You think I'm picking NC State.
That is not happening. No, I mean, in all seriousness,
I think this will be an incredibly close game. I
would be stunned. I cannot believe the line on that
is sixteen and a half. That is crazy to me.
This is a team that just upset Georgia Tech. So
I think they'll get They'll they'll give some fight, but

(14:59):
I think Miami does just enough to be able to
win this game. But it'll still be one of those
wins that'll have you saying, Miami, are you're really okay?

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah? All right, Duke, believe it or not.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
A four and a half point favor over Number nineteen
Virginia and this one as they get the Who's at
Home Derrid mensa. One of the nation's top passing attacks,
Duke houses they ranked first in the ACC and fourth
nationally and passing offense and twentieth in total offense going
up up against a Virginia defense that has been holding

(15:30):
it down for him because Chandler Morris, we don't know
he could play.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
He could not.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
And even though they lost to the Wake Force demon Deakins,
they did limit them to just two hundred and three
total yards, including just sixty four yards through the air,
which isn't saying much because Wake Force quarterbacks, we know
how sporadic they can be. This is a tough one
to pick, especially with Duke being favored in this one.
But I'm still gonna take Virginia on the road. Coming
off of an upset loss, Duke will be falling. So

(15:56):
I'm gonna trust Duke in this spot. And there's reason
I should. I just think that Virginia's free fallen. With
how impressed or not impressed I've been with even some
of their victories that they've had here recently, I think
you're gonna mess around with the wrong one. In mensa
you can't not put points on the board. You can't,
you know, have some of.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
These turnovers that Virginia might be susceptible to every once
in a while yourself. It can't be a lackluster defense.
Duke is still real talented offensively, and I do think
they're going to be able to put points on the board.
Do I trust Virginia to keep up even with a
terrible defense that Duke has no doubt about it. I
think Duke I might even pick him to cover. Yeah,
that's a little froggy with this line. Is telling me

(16:36):
that Channel Morris probably ain't gonna play. I would say,
all the more reason for me to have Duke ballin
in this one. Blue Devil's they get the dub.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
Yeah, I mean Chandler Morris, even if he does play,
how healthy is he going to be? I don't know
about that. This Virginia team feels a lot like Carolina
from a few years ago when they lost to Georgia
Tech and that derailed their entire season. Feels like this
is a very similar type of team. Now, Wake Forest
much better than that Georgia Tech team that beat Carolina,
but it felt like that was the loss that all

(17:05):
of a sudden gets them thing at all.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Here we go.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
Now we're gonna be coming back to reality, and especially
without your quarterback. I'm gonna do it, man, I'm gonna
I'm gonna trust Duke too. I think they're gonna find
a way to get this done.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
All right.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Yeah, mine is a little contingent on Chandler Morris playing,
but I'm gonna operate on the premise that he is
all right. The showdown North Carolina at wake Forest. Wake
Forest and a half point favorite, and this one could
be a rock'm sock them. The square could end up
being seven to three. And this one when you talk
about these two teams getting together. UNC's defense ranked second

(17:39):
in the ACC eleventh nationally with three sacks per game.
Wake Forest's defense as well, holding opponents to just under
twenty point three points per game, second best mark in
the ACC. This is a tough one because this is
going just how I thought it was going to. I
thought North Carolina was gonna start getting it together once
they got ready to play the wake Forest Demon Deacons.

(17:59):
This will be a very good atmosphere. I believe on Saturday,
CW Gang your boy will be on the sidelines yet again.
I think that my wake Forest Demon Deacons, though, find
a way to get it done. They will be balling
North Carolina will be falling, so you can run on
wake Forest a little bit. They're not great against the run,
but I think they're gonna be good enough. And at

(18:21):
some point you're gonna have to trust g Lopez to
make plays against that defense.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
And I don't think that's gonna happen. Now.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
You could just be looking ash at some kind of
sixteen to ten game. I mean, I think that's on
the table, a real low scoring affair because it's not
like I trust wake Forest offense all that much, and.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
I's got to get those legs warmed up.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Is this gonna be ugly? I think it is. Yeah,
Oh God, give me wake to ball.

Speaker 6 (18:47):
Yeah, this game is gonna be about as ugly as me.
So a beautiful looking thing, then, thank you, thank you.
As this this will be a tough game, There's no
doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
It's gonna be one in the trenches.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
I think Carolina's defense playing well, Wakes defense playing very well.
If the final score of this game, if the team
that wins this game scores thirty points, I would be
absolutely stunned. I mean too, that would make no sense
based off of what we've seen recently. So it's a
game that I think will be playing the team played
in the teams Man go. The thing about go Man

(19:22):
is he has not looked good in these first halves,
but he has stepped up in these second halves. Carolina's
run game not looking great, but hopefully they'll be able
to run the ball a little bit better. I trust
this defense.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
You know what.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
I'm gonna trust in my guy, Milkotebous You day to
go off at Carolina balling in this one.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yeah, he worries me.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
The ovin in this game is thirty eight and a half,
so Vegas looks like they are expecting a low scoring
game as well. All right, So that was balling and
falling for this week. It should be a fun one
now at his time for Panthers Falcons too. Top ten.
Walker started it off last week. If I'm not mistaken,
I think I did all right, So I will start

(20:03):
it off this week as we go through a nice
job found of transitioning Number ten for me. Tetoroa McMillan
coming in this game fourteenth and receiving yards. He has
at least three receptions in every game so far this year.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
So I'm going with Tetoroa as my number ten.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Not to belabor any points here, but I'll give you
my eleventh first, I'll give you back to back. Jac
Horn fell out of my top ten with his performance.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Against Say, oh wow, I don't like Kilo. I didn't
like it. I didn't like it.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Now, I think some of this has to do with
some members of the Panthers' offensive line playing well. I
do think that what the Falcons have is a pretty
good amount of talent up towards the top. Yes, they're
a good, bad team. Yeah, that's exactly right. Honestly, I
think they do have a lot of date even in
those teams, Like even if we did the top twenty,
I think you'd see a decent amount of Falcons there,

(20:56):
which perhaps says something about what Raheem Morris is doing.
It also speaks to just how valuable running the football
and stopping the run is, because if you can't stop
the run, it doesn't matter how many talented players you have, Like,
for instance, I'll just go ahead and give it to
you straight here too. I don't have any Atlanta Falcons
defensive linemen on this list, okay, and I think that's
a part of the reason as to why they're so
bad against the run. Jac Horn eleven. Taylor Moten was

(21:19):
out last week. He's back in. Okay, Taylor Moton started,
you know, pass protecting starting.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
It a little better.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I do wonder just how healthy he is, man Like,
he's been banged up. This isn't your typical TEAMO type
of season. I wonder how much of it is real
injury versus Father time starting to settle in. But despite
some offensive line changes, I don't think he's been as
good as he has been honestly.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
The last three four five years. But he's still not
been bad like.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
I think it speaks to the standard of pass blocking
and the run block grade is good for him. Timo
comes in at number ten.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
All right.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
Number nine for me, I go to the Atlanta Falcons
in their center, Ryan new zeal He's sixth in interior
offensive lineman pass block win rate. He's PFS ninth rated center,
and he's top fifteen rated in both pass and run
block by PFFF.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Okay, Number nine for Walker Mayl. It's the tackle for
Atlanta in Jake Matthews thought about putting him higher. Maybe
I should a little painful think about Jake Matthews. Is
he's excellent against the pass. Yeah, and he's been very
good for quite some time. I'm going to change it.

(22:28):
I reserve the right to change it. Jake Matthews is
going to go one spot ahead. I'll put t Mac here.
I got Ta Mac at number nine. That makes more
sense to me, just giving it a once over. I
think with t Mac I would like to see some
more explosive games. I don't think it's his fault, really though, man.
I mean, you're running the football the time. He's got
an unbelievable target share. It's just that the Panthers don't
throw it and we're not seeing a whole If he

(22:50):
gets forty percent of the targets, okay, that's great, except
we're not throwing it all that much because we keep
handing it off to Rico. I think he's doing a
nice job. He's number nine on this list. And then
I'll just go ahead and give you a sneak peek.
Jake Matthew's number eight yard you all right, no doubt
about it. Number eight for me, I've got Damien Lewis.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
And for the purposes of the time. That's not a
bad idea for you to do that. But he's the
only guard in the league to rank in the top
ten of both passing run block only allowed two hits
and eleven pressures.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Damian Lewis my number eight. All right, let's get back
on track because I threw us off. Who's number seven?
Number seven for me? I've got ric Odald.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Oh he's falling down just a little bit, but that
also points to the amount of talent in this game.
Third rushing y'all's ninth and rushing touchdowns six and explosive runs.
He's getting it done and had a tough game last week,
but obviously it's hard to run against heavy boxes like
he was talking about as well as.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I got him at number seven. Literally have the same
order that you do. So I need to stop doing that.
Why am I jumping ahead top ten? Man, It's not
been a great showing for me in top ten T
O ten, t Mac nine, Matthews eight, I've Damian Lewis seven.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
I wonder how much of that is just positional value
at guard, but I do value it.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
More and more so. Honestly, he's been so rock solid
for this team. It's been great value.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Yeah, he has been, so give me Damian Lewis at
number seven on the list.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
That's about putting him higher, but I like them all right.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Number six for me, this is where Jake Matthews comes
in to play for me. He's ninth in offensive tackle
past block win rate and he's the third best pass
blocker in all of football at the tackle position according
to Pro Football folks.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Yeah, he's a monster. That's why I had to move
him up up to eight. You could argue even higher
as you did. This is where I have rico'dowdell. I
wonder how hurt he was too last week. In fact,
they kept working on his squads every single time that
he would go to the sideline. It felt like he
wasn't breaking some of the tackles that he had been
in previous weeks. And if he does that, I wonder
how different of a football game we're talking about too.

(24:45):
Rico Daddle still an amazing season. Rico Dawdle comes in
just outside the top five, all right.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Coming up for me at number five, I've got Chris Linstrom,
three time All Pro. He is top five rated run
blocker and top five guard or excuse me, guard, Yeah, tackle,
he's a tackle, Chris guard. That's right, that's right, my
bad top five guard as well. He's only allowed twenty five.
He has allowed twenty five pressures though, so that is

(25:11):
not good. But he's part of a unit that has
the John Robinson averaging five yards per care.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
It's a linebacker. I've got the same things. He's everything,
mister Chris Linstram, I've got Chrystal li Instram here as well.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
You are the same exact spot.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
The thing about him, man, it's it's the past protection,
which that that hurts your value.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
To me, if you're a guard and you give up
into your value run block, I do value it, I
know I do.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
And I just think, man, if you're not good at
protecting the passer as a guard, that's a quick way
to ruin a drive.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
It is, and that so okay.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
For every fifteen excellent run block snaps that you have
that could really get the train moving, it's why you're
in the top five, it's why you deserve to be
up here. But man, that once that I don't know,
perhaps every three of the fifteen dominant run STAPs you have,
you will allow some pressure to get in Michael Pennock's face,
who needs all the help he can get right now,
not playing good football again, It's a great way.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
To ruin a drive.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Maybe Drake London's open, can't throw it because Linstrom just
allowed some pressure to get through right up the middle.
Now Penix has to pick a side on where to roll.
Interior pass rush still is I think the most disruptive
thing a quarterback deals with a lot of QB say,
interior pass rush is king.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I don't know, man.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
That's why I have Linstrom five, because he is such
an excellent run blocker, but pass blocking needs to be better.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Number four for me out of wake Forest Jesse Bates
two time All Pro career twenty six interceptions. He's got
three career pick sixes. He's only missed three tackles this
year and two interceptions on the.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Grades are down this year for Jesse Babs.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
This is one where you just gotta know, Yeah, just
got to know. With Jesse I do wonder too how
much of it is they're running the football. They're running
the football against this team. He actually had comments about
that either yesterday or today looking it up on Twitter.
He's like, hey, something's got to give, man, we got
to figure out a way to stop the bleeding with
the rushing attack being so effective against us, and that's

(27:05):
not necessarily his games not bad against it. He's just
a savant in coverage. You've seen him get on the
board with turnovers the last couple of games. Two interceptions
in the last two games after having zero all the
way up to that point, So starting to get going
a little bit and creating some turnovers and being that
savant we speak of despite some of the bad grades,
we know what it is. With Jesse Bates. He comes

(27:27):
in at number four, all right, number three for me.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Derek Brown second among defensive tackles and stops those are
deemed plays that are failures for the offense. He's got
sixteen pressures. He's been in a little bit of a
slump if you let analytics tell the story over the
last few games, and he is second in solo tackles
among defensive tackles.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
I think we're going to have the same exact order.
I got Derek Brown, Yeah, yeah, I got Derek Brown
number three. I think, man, the other two guys have
been special and just are special at their spot.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
With the way that they've been playing.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
But Derek Brown, for all the dominant reasons that we've
talked about all season long, just an absolute force to
be reckoned with. And I will say this too, when
Chris Linstrom, every single time you play him, gets destroyed
and embarrassed, I have no problem saying he gets embarrassed
by Derek Brown. I hope to see that again. When
you beat a guy that's that's that good pretty consistently,

(28:19):
I think that only enhances your role here.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
But he comes at number three, all right.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Drake Lendon for me is number two top ten and receptions,
yards and touchdowns. He's got zero drips this year, and
he's also.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
A zone killer.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
He's got forty six of his catches and four hundred
and sixty eight yards versus zone coverage this season. So
if you're the Panthers and you get to that zone,
you better watch out for Drake London.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
I thought about putting them number one. I know you did.
You a receiver, gud Man, I am.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
I know you did, But you can say that I
know who your number one is and we'll talk about it.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
But you could at least say he's kind of a receiver. No,
he is. Yeah, he's great. I have him at number
one for we we're talking about number two. Number one.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
I got Drake Lennon too. I decided to put him
here at this spot. I think part of the reason
is because one, his play is so dictated on quarterback play. Yeah,
but he's so quarterback friendly. You talk about somebody that's
immaculate at the point of the catches, yeah, just strongest hands,
maybe at the wide receiver position at this point, so

(29:17):
good and gets crazy separation like you talk about a
big guy running excellent red zone routes.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Drake London is that guy.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
He's been an absolute monster, doesn't matter where you line
him up. Drake London. I thought about it, I really did.
I think there's a case for it. But I got
them number two.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
All right, number one.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
You guys already know what is the perfect running back
in my opinion, Top ten and rushing yards, top ten
in yards per attempt, second and forced Mistackle was fifth
in yards out to contact per attempt, and he's the
second leading receiver on the team with forty three catches
for four hundred and.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Sixty seven yards and two scores.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Mister b John Robinson, mister Lamborghini himself is the number
one who how did you think it was gonna be.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
The only reason that I thought about putting Byjon at
number two and Drake London at number one is I
would say at their position, London is giving me the
better production.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
That's because of a lack of ability or an indictment
on what Bajon is as a player. One, they have
an other good running back and Tyler Algier, so they
use him in the red zone every once in a while,
much to Bejon Robbins fantasy football owner's dismay. The other
thing is with Bajon, I just think you get down
in some of these games, and you're also trying to

(30:28):
throw the football as.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Much as possible.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
So I think it's just because of the way that
they use him more so than it's any indictment on
his Playjon is still a freakazoid, Like if you put
him on the Colts. Yeah, he's doing a lot of
the safe stuff.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
JA Well, I was gonna say, what's crazy, though, is
that it feels that way, because you're right, some games
they do do that with him, but he's still third
in the league in scrimmage yards from scrimmage. He's got
eleven and forty six yards from scrimmats. Jonathan Taylor has
thirteen ninety nine, so he's not far behind them. But yeah,
it is some games like the first time that they
play with a game script does dictate that the John
didn't get the rushing attempts like he should.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
But this is a twenty touchdoy per game.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Like to me, if you're the Atlanta Falcons, you gotta
find a way to get him twenty plus touches per game,
no doubt about it. So to recap my top ten,
I have got Tetoroa McMillan at number ten, Ryan Newzell
at number nine, Damian Lewis number eight, ric o'dowdells seven,
Jake Matthew six, Chris Leinstrom five, Jesse Bates four, Derek

(31:25):
Brown three, Drake London two. But John Lamborghini Robinson number one,
Taylor Moten number ten. We have Teamac number nine, Jake
Matthews eight, Damian Lewis seven, Rico Dawdle six, Jesse Bates
is the first in that excuse me. Chris Lnstrom is
the first in the top five. Then it's Jesse Bates
at number four, Derek Brown three, Drake London two, the

(31:48):
John Robinson number one. All right, when we come back, folks,
Fire of Fizzle College Sports Unbreakable Records on Sports Radio
ninety two seven WFNZ.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
And the.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Happy Birthday to me, thank you for the excellent gift
West for fire Physics.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Here we hit doll Go Yeah man.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
With some of the best unbreakable college sports records ever
posted of all time.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Number one on the list We.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Remember it well happened recently, after all Caitlyn Clark's NC
double A scoring record an amazing few years that she
spent up at Iowa.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Fire Fizzle West.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Caitlyn Clark did it with flair when she broke Pistol
Pete Marivitch's all time NC double A scoring record. She
scored thirty five points against the then second ranked Ohio
State Buckeyes, and she became the NC double a's all
time leading score. She passed his record on a free
throw with point three seconds left in the second quarter.

(33:05):
Miste Pete, you remember him. He played three seasons at
LSU and set the previous mark of three thousand, six
hundred and sixty seven career points in just eighty three games,
Caitlyn Clark hols the NCAA all time record, and she
did that as well as breaking the women's scoring record
before that, that was held by Kelsey Plumb in February

(33:27):
of twenty twenty four. But you remember it all the
three the hometown girl, the great Midwestern story in a
place where they produced corn and steaks, amongst other great
things in Iowa, but she could perhaps be their greatest export.
The ponytail, the shots, the flare, the Kobe's. Everything that

(33:47):
she did that brought us entertainment to our homes had
grown men in the houses, holler, yelling, cheering for Kate.
Women are like children, are like all around superstar and
her break this record, I don't know that it'll ever
be broken. I'm sorry that Juju didn't have a chance
to be able to do this, because maybe she could have.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
But regardless of.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
The fact, Caitlin Clark's NCAA scoring record straight fire.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
If we get things kicked off tact.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
Caitlyn Clark gave us one of the most underrated memes
of all time when Haley Van Lift threw palms up
saying I don't know what to do with her. Yes,
great photo. Next one up. Blander's gonna like this one.
Mia Ham's ninety seven point women's soccer season, which honestly
should be looked up more. It really should take it

(34:36):
away West.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
The tar Heels won a national championship in all four
seasons that mia ham played without losing a single match,
and the nineteen ninety two.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Season was arguably her best.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
There's only one player to break the ninety point barrier
in women's college soccer history, and his hamd With thirty
two goals and thirty three assists.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
In nineteen ninety two.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
She was the model of consistency for the tar Heels.
She is one of six players to score one hundred
career gos and finished fourth all time with seventy to
assist mia Hamm in the nineties, she was bigger than big.
They were putting her next to Jordan, they were putting
her next to everybody.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
She was the pride of Chapel Hill.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
She was an absolute dominant force, Wanna Gold medal for
the women's soccer team as well an absolute.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Legend and icon.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Bea Ham's ninety seven point women's soccer season back at
ninety two, bumping the Wu Tang, bumping the nobs.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
I don't know what else she might have been bumping.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
Some popa roach.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
But regardless of the fact that season that she put
together was straight. Man, it's a Tar Hills. You think
I'm say man, I'm saying as Tar Wake week two.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
You got me look great job. I thought I was
gonna get a fire for me A ham. I really did?
I really? Did you? You me a couple of times
pop roach?

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (36:00):
All right, yeah, I try my best Wu tang to
popa roach. Yeah, that's called Range Wescott Range. I don't
know if you know that. Number three LSU Baseball's seventy
seven game home run streak not one I'm as familiar with. Yes,
Leason four. That's because you were young and your mom
was still probably cleaning up back to put it nicely.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Gotcha? But they accomplished this.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Between June eighth of nineteen ninety six and February twenty
first of nineteen ninety eight, the Tigers hit at least
one home run in a game spanning three different seasons,
including all seventy of their nineteen ninety seven National Championship
run games. They called it gorilla ball, but they spelled

(36:45):
it the cage in way g E A U x
R I L LA Gorilla ball and they called it
the Gorilla ball era, and they said it was a
fun one and launched an unthinkable one hundred and eighty
eight home runs in nineteen ninety seven. The bats were hot, baby,

(37:05):
They were spicier than that Cae in Gumbo or the
pub boys that you get down there in the French Quarter,
and maybe you finish it up with a little bit
of ben Ya's you know what I'm saying, and then
maybe you go to the voodoo shop for that parton
Oh my bad. I'm getting a little bit off track here,
but that is New Orleans culture. Baton rouge LSU with

(37:27):
those spicy bats knocking that out of the park seventy
seven straight games? Would would that be broken? I don't
know they we'll ever see it again. And for that reason,
LSU Baseball's home run streak is straight fizzle.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Man. They took my Deacons.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Out of the playoffs, man, so you get no love either,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Yeah, I expected to fire. I'm all one to day
selling it. You're telling you going down to yourself. I'm shooting,
like they.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Say on WWE in professional wrest all right, I really
thought we were about they knocked my demon deacons.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
I can't give a fair it's fair, Okay. I'm just
not paying attention as much as that shit. I don't
know what's coming up. I really don't.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Andre Wears five hundred and seventeen yard performance.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Yeah, explain this one to the people, all right, because
this is going to blow your mind. Okay, five hundred
and seventeen yards in that game, total of six touchdowns.
There's been plenty of guys that have done stuff like that, right,
a little questionable. But what makes this unbreakable is that
mister andre Ware, the guy the two guys watch on
the broadcast, glasses and all, he did this in one half.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Oh yeah, there we go like it. He did this
in one half. Twist. It says game, It says, yeah,
I done that to throw you off. Ye. Five hundred
seventeen yard performance. Baby.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
He handed it off to David Klingler in the second
half and he threw for two hundred and fifty four
more yards. They totaled seven hundred and seventy one passing
yards for the game. So Walker, you don't have to
feel as bad after what Texas North Texas did to
you guys. But the oney twenty one one total yards
that Houston had in that game still a record thirty

(39:05):
plus years later. And do you want to know the
final score of that game against SMU ninety five to
twenty one.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
They took down SMU.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Okay, but my man went for five hundred and seventeen
yards and six touchdowns in one half of play. Andre
Will was a bad boy. This is a bad show
and this is a bad segment. So you already know.
Five to seventeen and a half, six tundies.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
It's thera wrait fire. We're back on track.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Mess to maker for Heisman. Maybe he can follow in
andre Ware's footsteps. Ah number five. Yeah, the reason we're here.
Mm hmm hand head aggo Yeah. Sixteen steel performance word
to Kendall Gill nay word the better than Kendall Gill
fire fizzle.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
She went sixteen to twenty five three or six from three,
nine to eleven from the free throw line in twenty
eight minutes, nine boys.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
Four assists.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
But the highlight of this and the reason for the
season is Hannah Hidalgo sixteen steals broke the NCAA record
of fourteen held by several players, most recently Georgia Tech's
Jill Ingram in February of two thousand and eight. But
Isabelle Gonzales highlighted the rarity of this performance by saying,

(40:21):
there are not many players at any level who can
do what Hidalgo achieved on Wednesday. No NBA or WNBA
player has ever registered forty plus points and ten plus
steals in a single game. The last college player to
do so was Amy Patton for Northern Arizona in twenty twelve,

(40:42):
and she didn't break a record and get the sixteen
steels to go with it. You talk about there are
some stats that you can put with a chip with
double that are crazy, and I think when you get
into the defensive side, that's when it gets a little
more wild. If you get sixteen blocks, if you get
sixteen steals, you just talk about debo, just type of stuff.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
The steals.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
I'm making your cookies, I'm eating them in front of you,
and then I'm gonna come back when you go to
the store to buy some more cookies. I'm taking those two.
That's what type of time she was on last night.
And then on top of the sixteen steals, found a
way to get forty four, not sixteen points, not ten
she didn't get You know, it's not a.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
Cheap triple double.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Yes, she was elite at the offensive end and still
found a way to get sixteen steals in this game.
Hannah her dog on one of my favorite players in
women's college basketball. A little ball of fire. A short stack.
That's two pancakes, right, A short stack is that what
we call that? Okay, might be two, might be three,
but old short stack that brings it. She in but

(41:44):
about five six, but she brings it each and every game.
I love the emotion, I love the intensity. And then
when you talk to her, she has this sweet, little
soft voice. She sounds like the nicest young lady that
you'd ever want to meet. But when she gets out
on that court, she's a tower. And you saw it
last night. Forty four sixteen steals and caa record. As

(42:05):
we close out, fire Fizzle, that is absolutely straight.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Fire, getting her dog, We.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
Salute founder, cut the music the hell off my cookies.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
They I can't find tuck them. I can't find them,
her DOGO tuck them all right, I'm gonna go look
for my chips. Ahoy, We'll be back with one more
hour to go. Coming up next, listen.

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
