Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're ready to go here floundering. Yeah, play that music
(00:02):
for me in the West, the West, what you got
for the people?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
All right, Well, let's start with a moment earlier in
the show that needs to be reviewed.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Walker think I've seen the movie. It's a five. I mean,
I'm not there. I was high up there. What happened?
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
I didn't know I could get that high resting THC people,
I hear you, Okay, I got the face.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I mean, you're giving Willie a run for his money. Yeah,
he again, extended period of time.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Let me hear it again. Let's see, let's see. I
don't know if I can reach that high again. I
think I've seen the movie. It's a five. I mean,
I'm not there. I don't know how I got up there. Man,
Maybe I got maybe I got kicked in the nether
region or something.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I don't know. I didn't feel it.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
That was tough.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
And hello to our guy, Forky. I'm trash. Yeah, it's
so good.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I don't know how every sports radio station in the
world isn't playing that when they just criticize something to
no end.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I need to hear more from.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
We should have used that more during the last few years.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Honestly we should have also.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Okay, I'm willing now, I'm willing to use that for
terrible takes that I have if we want to bring
that out anytime. Rash I love forky I do, I'll
raise my hand high. What else you got flouted?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
All right, let's go to Dave Canalis. He was talking
on I think this was yesterday. I'm not sure exactly
which press conference this was. He does so many of them,
but he was asked about, Oh boy, j C. Horn
falling on the touchdown to Chris Olave. We have not
talked much about this, but let's get into it.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
The play with jac Horn and Levey down the field.
Was that a matter of technique of turning not turning
his back to him or you know the way he
was positioned. Yeah, well you could actually have to we
have to look up and now if he does bump
into you, it's easy to fall.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I think, so it could be just a leverage thing.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
And I know also, as you can attest to it,
when you get a player who's as fast as Crystal
Lave and he's running at full tilt and you're moving
at the same rate and Jac is really fast, and
we also understand that, but any little incremental movement, you know,
and they had kind of had their hands tied up
in Jac's feet kind of slipped on him. He went
down and Tyler shut through an amazing pass on that
play as well, So you know, to speak of the
(02:21):
whole play in general, like they picked up a really
good pressure and blocked it well, and then they had
the one on one opportunity made a throw and you
know sometimes it's like that, you know, but it does.
It starts with you know, footwork, technique, leverage and all that.
Jac to be the first one to tell you'd love
to have that one back.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well you hear Eugene Robinson there. That is of course
Panther talk that they do every single week. But he
was discussing j. C. Horn falling down there.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
What did you guys think of this moment?
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Because remember JAC was a little fired up, thought there
should have been some offensive pass interference there. The Panther
fans in the stadium also agreed on that.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
What was your thought on that play?
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Yeah, they is show a ton of angled where I
could see like exactly what happened because it did look
like a push off. But then you heard some people
saying that he sold it, So I'm not sure there.
But I did think, you know, frankly, that he had
good covers through most of that play. He was in
the hip pocket, he was where it needed to be.
It was just an unfortunate ending. But I can't make
(03:20):
the you know determination if he was selling or if
Chris o'love did indeed push off.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, I mean watching it back a couple of times,
it felt like a push off from Chris olave. But
I'll say this, Jac Horn wasn't good in this game.
About to play a little Freaky Friday because I know
you are not a fan of jac Horn as much
as everybody else is, and I am one that still
thinks he is an excellent football player. Not a great
showing from him on a lot of different areas. I mean,
straight up, there were I saw Josh Snorriz tweet this
(03:48):
out too. He was the closest defender on quite a
few big plays. You saw him fall down twice, and okay, yes,
I think both things can be true. Falling down isn't
going to happen on every single deep shot that people
take against J. C.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Horn.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Okay, he's gonna be upright on most of those plays.
But also you got to find a way to keep
your feet moving and then battle at that top speed.
Because Chris Lave didn't fall, he somehow was able to
keep it going again. I thought there was a little
bit of a push off there. I don't think it
was crazy egregious. I thought it should have been called.
At the same time, I can't say that I defended j. C.
Horn's play, and by the way JC had he took
(04:27):
a lot of responsibility after this game, too, says everything
that I showed out there, I am responsible for, Like,
I can't do that. I got to stay upright on
some of these plays.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
And so J. C.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Horn not absolving himself, nor will a bunch of the
Panthers fans. I just hope he doesn't fall on some
of these big plays anymore. I hope I don't think
he will. That seems pretty fluky. Also, gotta stay upright.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
All right, Speaking of a man that fell but has
gotten back up. How about Bill Belichick. He was talking
to the media yesterday and getting ready for the game
against wake Forest. He was asked about the Giant it's
a vacant coaching job and.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
When you got here, you said you're not coming here
to leave. But as soon as the Giants job came
up to yesterday, your name got.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Thrown out there.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
I'm ser sure with other NFL jobs, what is what
is your message to players to recruit?
Speaker 4 (05:13):
So I'm sure people are asking me about that.
Speaker 7 (05:15):
Who want to come in from.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
The right for wait for us?
Speaker 8 (05:19):
That's all I got this week.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
That has anyone asked you the players? Why did you
elaboration time to time?
Speaker 8 (05:29):
But yeah, I've been doing this real before. I'm focused
on wait for us. That's it, and that's my commitment
of this team. And next week it'll be to our
next opponent and so forth. But you know, I'm here
to do the best I can for this.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
Team, all right.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
So there's the statement I got told yesterday by some
Tarial fans that it wasn't nearly strong enough, which I'm like,
what more can you really want? He's not an actual
candidate for the job at this moment, But what did
you What do you think about the possibility of Bill
Belichick being the head coach of the New York Giants?
Do you think this is something Tariot fans should be
(06:05):
worried about?
Speaker 7 (06:08):
A little bit, but I'm gonna say for the most part, no,
it feels like he could be done with the NFL
from my advantage point. But I mean, him to the
Giants makes all the sense in the world when you
talk about the fact of what he did. There's a
defensive coordinator, his history there. It's New York, it's cold,
it's grimy. All that stuff fits Bill Belichick.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Watch it, watch it. We're not griming.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
You could see, you know, Belichick with the hoodie on
and the coats and all that out there in the
cold weather. So yeah, there's a lot that would make
sense about it. But I just feel like that he's
kind of done with that. This whole thing.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Man, Oh well, it's just crazy. Wes.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Can you please pull up your power rankings and tell
me where Syracuse and Stanford rank in the ACC power rankings?
Are the two worst teams outside of Boston College in
the conference? Virginia Tech two, right.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Yes, Stanford is fourteen. Okay, that's a big win.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
It's a big win, man.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Syracuse has been absolute I'm trash four key styles since
Angelly left.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yes, they've been terrible.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I'm trash.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Those are the two wins they got ye. Look, they're
playing better. They're not Louisville basketball from a few years
ago when you won a couple of games. Okay, they're
playing better. I will give them credit. Y'all got to
meet me a little bit on stopping giving the credit
at some.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Point, do the Giants won them?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Like we're phrasing this in the term of is Carolina
worried about losing the guy that for the first half
of the season was in the news for all the
wrong reasons. You still got Lombardi there, who apparently nobody likes.
We still don't know if he can make great hires.
We still don't know for sure that he can recruit
his bleepof and when he does get the talent, are
(07:56):
you going to win in the ACC right now? You
got two wins to speak of. Stanford you beat by five,
and Syracuse after a close first half, you eventually turned
it on in the second half. I'm gonna give you
credit for playing a lot better amidst all of the noise.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
But it's all the noise that you created.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
And now we're asking if Carolina fans should be a
little scared that you might lose them. Doue the Giants
won them. Would it be a good hire? Is he
option Z on the alphabet? I don't know, man, I
think it's still a little ridiculous to put it all
out there.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Maybe he would want to go there.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
I bet he would want to go back to the
NFL if he got an opportunity. I bet he would
want to go. But I'm not worried. If I'm Carolina,
I would say this.
Speaker 7 (08:43):
You know, if you're the New York Giants and you're
looking at this thing, you say, all right, I mean,
there's no denying he's the greatest NFL head coach of
all time. What does he specialize in defense? Well, Carolina's
defense for the last four or five games have been
pretty darn good.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Right.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
But if I'm edit from the Giants perspective, Okay, yeah,
people can say all day that, yeah Tom Brady made them. Okay,
what head coach doesn't win when they don't have a
dominant quarterback. So you say, all right, if I bring
Bill Belichick in, I've got Jackson Dark in place here,
I've got skilled talent here at his disposal.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
And what does he specialize in? Stabilizing line play?
Speaker 7 (09:21):
His offensive lines were hardly ever bad in New England.
That's something he's going to fix immediately. And you know
that defense with those type of pass rushers at his disposal,
that defense would turn into something.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
It would turn into a stanker real quick. With all
those guys.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
He would have Brian Burns and Carter and all those guys.
So yeah, I mean there would be a lot to
like about that. And I think the number one thing
is the fact that they have their quarterback in place,
so you wouldn't have to necessarily worry about him trying
to hunt that down.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
So the key to this is that you've got to
figure out one who's making this higher. Is John Marra
making this higher or is it Joe Shane. If it's
John Marra make in the higher, then I think there
could be some actual push for them to bring in
Belichick because he's a guy that has, you know, blood
in the ground, he's been there before. He's a guy
(10:11):
that loves the organization. He has raved about them for years,
years on end, and has said as much as basically
this is his dream job. So I think he would
take the job if he was offered it.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I really do.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I like Bill Belichick, Oh yeah, because.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
He wants to get back to the NFL.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Right he wants to get back chase the record that
Don Shula had and the and the Giants. Look, it
seems like the Giants are a long way off. The
Giants are very similar to the team that he is
coaching right now.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
They are.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
They have had four games where they have led in
the fourth quarter by ten points or more and lost.
They are that close to being six and four, So
he might feel like I can come in here, take
over this job and be relatively successful really quick. Now,
would the Giants want everything that comes with Bill Belichick?
That's the ultimate question. It's calmed down a little bit
(11:04):
as we've gotten in season here, but it was still
at a fever pitch. At one point during the year.
He was a guy that literally went to Nantucket during
an off week and was vacationing. I don't know how
that's going over in the NFL, but he's still I mean,
that's the thing. It's that you can look at it.
It's so many different ways here. I think the Giants
(11:27):
will go with somebody that's experienced.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I just don't know if it's Belichick.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
So I said in the article that I wrote about
it last night for heeltuplog dot com if you guys
want to check it out. I said I would not
be worried yet, but it's not completely off the table.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
That's all I'm That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
That's why I'm at with it.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
My point is, when am I supposed to worry about
losing Bill Belichick as my head coach in North Carolina? Hey,
why would I worry about it? Well, you want him
to be gone.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
The one reason that I would say you would work
worry about it is because now as we sit here, now,
how good of a job is Carolina going to be
compared to the other jobs that are going to be
out there on this coaching market.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
I mean, we're talking about there could be twelve.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Fifteen signature openings depending on how many of these schools
actually fire their head coach. That's the only thing that
worries me a little is where would Carolina fall on
that hierarchy?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Freddy Kitchens, Welcome back, baby, You're the OC of the
New York Giants. Than please God, Now what else you
got for us?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Well?
Speaker 4 (12:33):
All right, we got Rhys Davis.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
He was on the College Football Playoff Top twenty five
show last night and was talking about the ACC and
talks about a very real possibility that the ACC could
miss out on the college football playoff because Duke is
one of the teams that controls its own destiny here
down the stretch.
Speaker 9 (12:54):
Here's the thing that I think is the doomsday, and
it's Duke. Because teams in the ACC that control their
path through the AEC championship game, one of them is
Duke Georgia Tech. If Duke wins this games, they're going
to the conference championship game.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
They're explosive offensively. They can win it at.
Speaker 9 (13:11):
Four losses, correct, and not that you count losses, but
you know they've got three non conference losses.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
That's where they're in the most danger.
Speaker 9 (13:18):
Otherwise, it's just a fun thing to talk about.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
All right.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I know they've been struggling here recently, But how concerned
are you about the possibility of the ACC missing out
in the playoffs because Dukes controls its own destiny and
all they'd have to do is win one game?
Speaker 7 (13:32):
Yeah, I'm not I think that you're saying that Duke
only has won one game to get to Charlotte.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
No, No, I'm saying all they have to do is
they would have to win out, but then all you
have to do when win the ACC Championship game and
you're in.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
Yeah, I think it's just something that's fun to talk
about because I don't think they're winning out. Down the
stretch between Virginia and North Carolina and wake Forest and
the way that this duke team is so up and down,
no defense turns the ball over. I could see them
losing two out of the last three or I just
don't see it with them.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
I mean, yeah, I think it's possible, but I guess
I'm not too worried about it either. Wake Forest is
the team I worry about the most, like in terms
of the way that the teams are playing right now,
I think wake Forest is the best opponent that they
have left on their schedule. Virginia they just don't scare
me as much anymore with the way that they've been
playing the second half of the season with the quarterback injury.
(14:22):
Your best quarterback isn't even at his best anymore, and
he's still your best option. So Virginia doesn't scare me
as much as wake Forest's defense, which might be the
defense with their coverage to put a lid on everything,
Mensa was able to do at Duke.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
I think Wake Forest too.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Game too.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Maybe I know you like it.
Speaker 7 (14:44):
Raniac Brainiac Bowl gonna get real violent.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Those are some muscles behind those glasses between these two. No,
I do think it would be hilarious. I kind of
am polling for this just a little bit to see
Duke in the a SEC Champimionship game. They win it,
and now I know that means the ACC would not
be represented in the College Football Playoff, which I don't
love that, but I do want chaos and it would
(15:09):
be a nice nostalgic moment to remember coastal chaos as
it represents the entire conference.
