Addiction has been on the rise in many forms in our digital age with things like gambling and pornography more available than ever and more difficult to resist!
Of course alcohol and substance abuse haven't lost any ground either!
My guest today is Greg Walker, a lifelong entrepreneur and extremely successful businessman. Greg grew up in a normal middle-class family raised by his mom and step-father in Greenbelt, Maryland.
After opening Zydeco Louisiana Diner in Houston, Texas during his senior year of college, Greg entered the venture capital and private equity worlds (healthcare, film, and real estate).
Despite his success, Greg walked through the darkness of addiction, which took him to places he swore he would never go.
"I have had millions of dollars in the bank and couldn't sleep a wink, and no money in the bank and slept like a baby every single night. My identity was always in my stuff.....but God never stopped pursuing me and it took what it took for me to totally surrender."
Have a listen to his courageous vulnerability discussing how he was able to shed his bogus identities of addiction.
In Part 2 we will look at addiction from the enabler or codependent family members who struggle with rescuing their loved ones trapped in addition.
