Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. You know, I
talk about this a lot lately. It's been on my mind,
(00:22):
but it's true when you take a chance and step
outside your comfort zone. For some people, their comfort zone,
especially during COVID, got very, very small. But when you
step outside your comfort zone, when you say, you know what,
this is gonna be tough. I've gotten used to being
(00:42):
in these four walls. I've got used to hanging out
with these two or three people. I've got used to
staying home with just my kids or just my pets
or whatever. When you step outside literally, not just figuratively,
step outside your comfort zone and say I'm going to
sign up for a class. I took a class online
(01:05):
a few weeks ago, and I learned fascinating things, new things,
things that challenge the way I have gardened in the past.
When you step outside your comfort zone, that is when
you grow. You grow spiritually, you grow emotionally, you grow mentally.
(01:27):
And I know it's hard. I know it's hard to
step outside your comfort zone. You got a million reasons
why you're not going to do it, do it? Live
life fully. That decision is hard. When you take a chance,
when you take a chance on love, when you take
a chance on learning, when you take a chance on
(01:49):
getting involved in your community, you will learn. You will
grow your life, your heart will be enriched. I promise
you that. Hi. Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
This is April?
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Hi, April? What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
I was wondering if you could play me a song
of encouragement and blessing and anything else that goes along with.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
That, A song I'll pick you up song.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, I'm doing good. I'm finally realizing the blessings and
miracles that I've been asking for for so long, or
right in front of my face, and I've just been
too naive to see him.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
And now you're seeing them.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Now I'm seeing them, and I'm loving it and I'm
thankful and grateful and just happy. And I haven't been
happy for a long time.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Isn't it amazing how when we change our perspective, everything changes.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Oh, it is.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
It's a miracle.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
It's just so so. What was the change in you?
What helped you to change your attitude? Or change your perspective.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
You know, I don't know if it was just it
wasn't one particular thing. It was just through my sister
and her faith, and finally just opened my eyes to
see that I'm not alone, that I have people of
friends and family and support, and that I can do it.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Then instead of your cup being half empty, all of
a sudden, you went, hey, yeah, it's actually you know,
mostly full.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah. It took me a long time to realize that.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
M But what a freeing feeling when it finally when
you finally get that through your head, Yes it is.
Well you go enjoy and bask in that feeling, and
I will play a great song for you.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Oh, thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Delilah.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Hi, you've called the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
This is Maggie, Maggie welcome. What can I do for you?
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Well, today's my twentieth birthday, and on my way home tonight,
I was listening to you and I was like, I
called you fifteen years ago and sang you a song. Honey,
I'm home. I just wondered if you remember.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I do remember I said, sing for your song, and
I recorded you and then I played some of it
back on the air.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yes you did.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
And what are you doing fifteen years later?
Speaker 4 (04:45):
I'm working?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
What do you mean you're working? Are you singing? Are
you using your gift?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I am a little just for friends and family. I
haven't really done it for anybody else, but yeah, I
do it on YouTube and for friends and family and
a couple of competitions and around town.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
But you're using your gift and you're making other people
smile with it. Yes, that's all that matters.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
But if you could play Brave by Sarah Burrellis that's
kind of my theme song right now.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, you need to be brave or you're feeling extra.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Brave, feeling extra brave.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Good for you. You're pretty brave. And you called me back then.
I don't think you had any clue you'd be, you know,
hearing yourself on the radio.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
No, didn't believe that.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
That was one of those moments where you went, did
she really just do that?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
It was one of those moments. We were actually at
a family's house when you played it back, and it
was just one of those moments where, oh.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
My goodness, let me play that for you. You have
a great night. Thank you for listening. After all these years,
you too, Delilah, God bless honey, Julianne. What can I
do for you?
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Yes? I wanted to know if I could make a
dedication to who Edmundo Diaz ed Mundo, Yeah, Edmundo Diaz
and ed Mundo. He's mar fiance.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
When you're getting married?
Speaker 5 (06:21):
We haven't really said a date yet, but hopefully pretty soon.
Right now, he's out of town, he's working.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
How old are you?
Speaker 5 (06:29):
I am eighteen?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Why are we rushing into marriage so soon? Young lady?
Speaker 5 (06:33):
Well, I mean we're not really like, we haven't said
a date. We're engaged right now, but I mean I've
known him for a long time already.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Everything Okay, that's good, and I'm glad that you love him.
But can we talk about college?
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Yeah? Yeah? But right now, I don't really want to
go back to college yet. I know that I want
to go, you know, I don't want to go and
be a drop out or nothing.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
So what kind of things do you love? What kind
of things do you love doing?
Speaker 5 (06:59):
I love poetry. I'm a poet. I love to write poetry.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
If you love poetry, you could definitely probably parlay that
into a full time writing career. Writing.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Yeah, that's what I want to do, but I just
need the right connections.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
And no, first you need the right education. Then you
go to work for Hallmark or American greeting cards or
a publishing company, but they're not going to even talk
to you until you get your degree.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
I have a lot of my friends telling me to
go back to but I'm a little scared. I guess
I can say it's.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Okay to be scared, and it's okay to not know
what you want to do. But no matter what you
want to do, you need to get your basics out
of the way. So for the next two years, go
to a community college. Take your basic English, your basic math,
all that stuff that will transfer to a four year
school and then the sky's the limit.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Thank you, Julilah. I appreciate it, and I love you.
I mean you. Oh. I love the way you host
your show.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Thank you, God bless you.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Hi, good evening. Who's this?
Speaker 3 (08:10):
This is Kyla?
Speaker 1 (08:11):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I'm missing a bunch of people tonight. I used to
work at a sobering.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Unit, like a place where somebody will detox.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Kind of it's more like a drunk tank.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Okay, okay, and you're missing the alcoholics who are there.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
I am good for you, Delilah. I had when I
walked in there, I had a correctional attitude and I
was cold.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Okay, So you went to work at this place with
a tough attitude, not really understanding that they're But for
the grace of God, go I right. And what happened
in the process.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
They softened me. I'm compassionate, I care, I show emotion.
I just hope that people will take the time to
sit down and talk to the homeless. They have so
much to offer. All of them touched my life in
one way or another, and I hope that they will
always know that I truly loved them and that I
(09:13):
will care for them for the rest of my life.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Let me see what I can do for you, Han.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Okay, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Ay It's Delilah.
