Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Hey it's Delilah.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Today we're going to mash up a bunch of great callers,
some from the past, some new, some old, all of
them fabulous.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hi Christine, Hi.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
This is Delilah. What can I do for you?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Oh Delilah? I wanted to tell you a very special story.
I was born as a result of an affair, and
my father was in the navy and he had a family,
and recently he passed away. I never knew him, and
he never acknowledged who I was. But the greatest thing
(00:53):
that he ever gave me was a family. I have
a brother and three sisters.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
So you were raised by your mom, just my mom,
who was single, never married.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Not not well now she is, but not then.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
How How old were you when you found out who
your biological father was?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Nine years old?
Speaker 2 (01:11):
But you never had a relationship with him.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I spoke to him once and he said some pretty
nasty things and denied my existence, and I never spoke
to him again.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Good for you. You don't need that kind of hurtfulness
in your life.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
No, but it was still pretty hurtful. You know. His family, though,
was very great, and they accepted me a minute they
saw me. They said, your friend's daughter.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
So did they know you existed before you let them
know this?
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yes, they did. He just he never really, you know,
gave any stock to it.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So he never he never parented you. He never liked
you know, decided to be a stand up guy. But
he told his family about you.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Right, he said, this woman claims that this child is
so and that was pretty much it. But my memmy,
my grandmother, she took one look and she said, there's
no doubt you're my son's daughter. So they always accepted me,
and we always kept in contact and they welcomed me
with open arms. So after now thirty thirty years, we're
(02:17):
starting to be a family now, and I tell you
it's really a great feeling.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well, let me find a song for your new family. Christine.
I'm glad you have such a healthy, loving attitude.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
God bless you, Oh, God bless you, Delilah, and thank
you so much for giving me the chance to tell
this wonderful story about your family. Family is the most
important thing, and I always felt that, but now I
know it.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Hi, good evening. Who's this Hi?
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Rob?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Rob?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Well, it's my son's ninth birthday.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
What's his name?
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Nick?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
What can I do for you? And Nick? Tonight? Dad?
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Well, I just wanted to tempt know how much I
love him and how much I care for him, and
how much he's made my life. I mean just great.
I mean I could not imagine my life without him.
His mama and I are divorced, and I know it's
been rough on him, but he's been really strong.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Do you see him often? Are you still connected to him?
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Him? Every weekend on my days off? And I have
a girl too, So one day it's you know, both
of us, and then one day it's just me and
him and all guys day.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
And how old is your daughter?
Speaker 4 (03:31):
She is five years old?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
So tell me about your little man, about Nick? What
sorts of things is he into? What sorts of things
does he love?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Oh, he's big in sports, big time baseball, football, basketball?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
And is he big into playing them, big into watching them?
Or both?
Speaker 5 (03:44):
All?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Both?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Both?
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Just seems like yesterday he was you know, he was born,
I was holding the rock name, feeding him, changed his
stinky divers and you know, I would do it all
over again in a heartbeat. But you know, they got
to get big, they got to grow up. You know
I want to be their form time. I love him
and I'll always be here for him.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Good for you, Dad, I will play that. I'm glad,
you know it. Just it thrills my heart when I
hear fathers, you know, who are divorced, who are still
that connected and that in love with and that involved
with their children.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
I could not imagine my life without him. I don't
know where I would be.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Hi, is this Frank? Yes? Hi, Frank, welcome. What can
I do for you tonight?
Speaker 6 (04:35):
I would like you to dedicate a song with my girlfriend.
Her names Emily.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
And what do you want to say to Emily over
the radio that.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
I love her very much and I miss her and
we've been like going through like a little problem Lily,
but I hope we can work it out.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Oh, Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank, you know you can't say
something to me, queen of sappy love songs, who loves
to pry in your business, like we've been going through
a little something without me saying what kind of little.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Something we're supposed to get together? It's a long distance
and we're supposed to get together, and she was like,
I can't do it because of work. And I was
really looking forward to going where she lives. And it's
just aggravating, you know, And I really want to be
with her, We really want to be with each other,
and we can't. So I just I miss her. That's
that's the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
So what kind of job does she have that she
can't take a day off to spend it with you.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
She works like for her community, that thing, and it's
just I don't know, there's a lot to it, and
she's just not saying on was so Frank.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yes, Hey, I might have been born at night, but
it wasn't last night, baby, And any person who is
in love with another person will find a way to
make room in their schedule to spend time with them,
even if that means climbing over the Himalayas.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Yeah, I know, I.
Speaker 6 (05:50):
Know, And that's what's really bothering me. Right now.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
I've got some property, Frank, you might be interested in.
It's a bridge.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
I'm sorry. I just told maybe just make it better
and granted before I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Yeah, just amazing.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
You're woman. I love listening to your inspirational stories, and
I love love stories, and I wanted to share with
you the story of me and my husband.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
All right, tell me your love story.
Speaker 7 (07:12):
Well, I was sunbathing with my cousin in the front
yard and he was across the street, neighbor and we
were fifteen years old and sunbathing, and I seen this
guy across the street and he's working on his moorcycle
and his cars and I told my cousin, first thing
out of my mouth. He was just a honk with
(07:33):
long curly brown hair, bright orange shorts, working on his stuff.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
And I told her I'm going to marry that boy.
Speaker 7 (07:39):
And we laughed. She's like, no, he's like ten years
older than us.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
She's not even our age.
Speaker 7 (07:44):
And she had got up and moved at seventeen and
moved on. I had went over. I was friends with
his aunt and uncle, so I'd went over there several
times throughout the year. I would just sit and watch
him work, like we talked here and there. And then
one day I told him, I said I love you,
and he said, little girl.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Go home.
Speaker 7 (08:02):
You don't know what love is. And the next weekend
I went over to see him and he was gone,
and he had left and just got up and moved.
And I was heartbroken because in a low girl's mind,
you know, we had something going, you know what.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I mean, I understand completely.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
Yeah, And I was heartbroken. I cried and cried for
like six seven months. And my uncle was the only
one took me serious. He came out to Garadge says, honey,
what are you crying about? And I told him and
he said, honey, let me tell you something. If you
love him, you let him go. If he comes back,
he's yours forever. And I always held that to my heart. Well,
(08:38):
I was seventeen years old, about a month from my birthday,
and he pulls into my driveway and I was going
to be eighteen. He said, did you anything from the store?
I looked at it, completely dumbfounded.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
You know.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
He invited me to the drive in that night and
went to drive in. We've been together ever since. And
about ten years ago, my cousin called me. We hadn't
talked in years, and she said, so, who'd she end
up with? You know what, I said, I have four
beautiful kids and I married that boy.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Did not believe. She was so dumbfounded.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
You said, you remember that hunt that used to work
on his car and his motorcycle across the street, and you.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Now have to say that. I said, I married that boy.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
And she knew what boy that boy was.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
He knew. She couldn't even believe it. She was just dumbfounded.
Speaker 7 (09:31):
And we've been together going on twenty five years. This
year we'll be married eighteen and I still wait for
that man to pull into that driveway with butterflies in
my stomach.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah
