As we age, staying healthy isn’t just about exercise and diet—it’s also about protecting ourselves from preventable diseases. Vaccines play a crucial role in longevity, helping to strengthen immunity and enhance overall well-being. This week on Aging Less: The Longevity Science Insights Podcast, host Sabrina Oktavelia is joined by Rajib Dasgupta, professor and chairperson at the Centre of Social Medicine & Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University, to explore how vaccines can contribute to a longer, healthier life.

Rajib Dasgupta is a public health physician with three decades of experience spanning epidemiology, social sciences, research, and policy engagement. A Fulbright Senior Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and an Erasmus+ Fellow at Tampere University, he has worked extensively in infectious disease control, One Health, and climate change. He also advises national health bodies on vaccination programs, including polio eradication and measles-rubella elimination, and frequently contributes to public health discussions in global media.

In this episode, Rajib Dasgupta explains how vaccines protect against age-related diseases, why immunization is vital beyond childhood, and the latest advancements in vaccine research. He also discusses the role of public health policies in expanding access to essential vaccines and how global efforts are shaping the future of disease prevention.

Together, Sabrina and Rajib Dasgupta break down the science of immunity and longevity, offering practical insights into staying protected at every stage of life. Whether you're curious about booster shots, emerging vaccines, or the impact of immunization on aging, this conversation is packed with valuable knowledge.

Tune in this week to discover how vaccines can help you age healthier and stronger!
