Last Sunday afternoon we started a new sermon series in the book of Acts by hearing from Acts 1:1-3 together. We saw that Acts is Book #2 in Luke’s two-part series about Jesus. Both Book #1 (Luke) and Book #2 (Acts) give us a carefully researched, trustworthy history of Jesus Christ. Book #1 (Luke) focuses on all that Jesus began to do and teach, from His birth to His ascension. We especially saw that Jesus’ life is not first an example for us to follow; Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection accomplished salvation for all who believe. In Book #2 (Acts), Luke turns his attention to all that Jesus continues to do and teach from heaven even now. This week, take some time to thank God that Jesus accomplished our salvation and is still working in our lives, our world, and our church today. Pray that God would help us to see and serve in the work that the risen Jesus is doing through our time in Acts.
