Roland Gumpert ist eine Ikone der Automobilentwicklung. Er entwickelte u.a. den Audi 50, den unter dem Namen quattro bekannt gewordenen permanenten Allradantrieb, den Audi quattro S1, den Geländewagen Iltis und das bisher einzige Motorrad, das Audi je gebaut hat. Als Teamchef für Audi gewann Roland Gumpert vier Rallye-Weltmeisterschaftstitel und 24 Weltmeisterschaftsläufe. Er leitete die Entwicklung von Audi Übersee sowie Vertrieb/Marketing Asien/Pazifik sowie seine eigenen Automobilmanufakturen. In den letzten Jahren beschäftigt sich Roland Gumpert mit der Entwicklung von emissionsfreien Methanol-Antrieben und wurde somit – so lautet auch der Untertitel seiner Biografie – vom Rallye-Weltmeister zum Umweltvisionär.
