Mark 4 begins with Jesus teaching a large crowd using parables, starting with the Parable of the Sower, which illustrates how people receive the word of God in different ways. He explains to His disciples that the purpose of parables is to reveal truth to those who are open but conceal it from those who are not. Jesus then shares more parables about the kingdom of God, including the Parable of the Growing Seed and the Mustard Seed, showing how God’s kingdom starts small but grows powerfully. After teaching, Jesus and His disciples cross the Sea of Galilee, where a violent storm arises. Jesus calms the storm with a command, demonstrating His divine authority and leaving the disciples in awe.
