In my sad post Stefano split, I booked a spontaneous
trip to Europe to go and see my mum and
then just left the country and ignored everything else in

But I'm back now and the married at First Sight
drama is also a back with one big question lingering
on the lips of all reality television fans this week,
did Billy cheat on Athena in Bali? Before I answer
that question and cover that current controversy, let me briefly

(00:44):
recap things as we all know. At the start of June,
Billy and Athena seemingly had launched a relationship with an
Instagram post cuddling up together on a date, being a
romantic and writing a caption that read I'll keep this
one alongside a cheeky face emoji. And that post left

no space for speculation really and may as well have
been a marriage proposal for how literally it was In
the weeks that then followed, despite neither of them officially
confirming a relationship or labeling whatever was happening between them.
They continued sharing cozy posts and pictures and TikTok dances together,
and it seemed that something beautiful was building between them.

Then on July second, so a month after that hard launch,
that was it a hard launch? Things then went to
the next level between them when they flew.

To Bali together.

Then that next week was filled with more posts together,
cute TikTok dances or that usual shit. But then there
were suddenly no more posts, and Afena was back in
Perth and Billy remained in Bali. And then a video
appeared on the Daily Mail of him, still in Bali,
kissing a woman who wasn't Athena.

It was some random blonde chick who I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I haven't bother to figure out who she is because
don't really care. But that then led to this current
question of well did he there cheat on idea Stafina
on what is happening there? And the answer to that question,
my friends, is no, he didn't cheat, as I can
confidently tell you that they were never together and as
far as I believe, they were never romantic in any way.

So as far as I do understand, as the show.

Aired earlier this year, they naturally gravitated towards each other
as they were both in perth, and as things you
know started exploding on screen and all the drama played
out from filming, they became even closer as like no
one else in their lives to live nearby really understood
what they were going through, like you know, they they
both did, and they both supported each other through that.

Some may call that trauma bonding I believe is that
the basis of a great relationship.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Probably not. But then once fans.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Started to suggest, hey, you two would actually be a
really cute couple, they continued hanging out, and I think
there was maybe a brief moment of them potentially thinking
is there something here, But that idea quickly fizzled out
and their friendship remained and was growing strong. But the
issue with that is as they continued hanging out now

just as friends, everyone wanted them to be together, as
most fans of Maths kind of long for some kind
of happy ending, and it seemed that we were going
to get one here, and you know, as they then
continue to post themselves having fun on TikTok, fans would
think it meant something more because they wanted it to
mean something more. And I think it's also fair to

(03:35):
say that Billy and Athena leaned into this a little
bit too much with that post where they were I'll
keep this one, as they knew that doing that would
go viral, and they posted that kind of out of
time when all the cast were fighting for followers and
relevancy and articles and sponsored posts, and them fueling that
ongoing speculation that way kind of put them ahead of

their peers in.

So many ways. And can you blame them for this?
Not really?

Nah? Like business is business, and as I say constantly,
the cast have a small time frame to monetize their
new found fame, and you know, go for it.

Make bank because Channel nine and the mass production company
Animals Shine have made millions off your misery. So fucking
do what you gotta do to get that bag. But
back to my original question, because I'm getting carried away. Sorry,
did Billy cheat and Athena again? No, as they were
never together and at best, as far as I believe,
they may have shared a kiss at some point in

time potentially, but they then went.

Nah, not for us, Let's just be mates.

And then what's interesting is after like what five six
weeks of them like eluding something maybe going on, and
the concert post together and the captions. As soon as
that video came out of Billy and the girl in
the clubs, they both suddenly clarified with a new caption
that says, I know everyone wants to see a romance betweeners,
but we're just grateful to have built such beautiful friendship

from this experience. Could they have said that five or
six weeks ago to avoid all of this? Potentially would
they have gained followers or like sponsorships if they did
that five or six weeks ago, Who knows, But you
know what, as I said, good on them, do what
you gotta do. I just hope they both find somebody themselves.
