(00:00):
Welcome back to Planet Phoenix.
I'm your host Matt, and I'm grateful that you can join me here today.
This past week, I was provided a moment of inspiration regarding my true self.
This moment provided me a great deal of relief to focus on the strengths of my creativity, not the perceptions of who I feel I should be based on the world around me.
That being said, over the next four weeks, I'm going to share some of my most recent blogposts with you.
(00:26):
Writings where my heart feels the most fulfilled,
and expressing my personal experiences in this format is liberating at the soul level.
The strategy I employed to select these posts was simple.
People seemed to enjoy these particular posts, and I also believe they helped paint apicture of how the last few months of my life have progressed.
For this episode, I'm going to share my blog post titled, Acceptance During Redirection, which was published on May 19th of this year.
(00:54):
Here we go.
Acceptance During Redirection Last night I decided to watch Star Wars Episode IV A NewHope.
It has been a long time since I've seen this movie, but as I began to watch it, Iremembered how much it impacted me as a child.
Specifically one moment in particular.
In this moment, Luke Skywalker was on his home planet of Tatooine at night.
(01:18):
He was looking out at the horizon, viewing his planet's two suns setting.
When I saw this movie moment again as an adult, I felt the same feelings I had as a child.
I remember feeling connected to this moment in the movie.
A planet having two suns blew my mind and at the same time made complete sense.
The colors of the geography of Tattooni as the two suns moved beyond the horizon wasbeautiful and familiar.
(01:43):
Skywalker taking a moment to be present and his pensive-ness was very moving to me.
In the movie, this is the final evening Skywalker would spend on Tatooine before his liferedirected into a new flow provided by the universe.
As this new flow entered Skywalker's life, he accepted it and flowed with thecircumstances as they came to him.
(02:04):
This acceptance during redirection is what I was spiritually tasked with today.
This morning I woke up late.
Because of this, means Joy, my dog, didn't get out for a walk as early as she's used to.
So I prioritize her need for a walk over my morning meditation.
We went to the park.
We walked for about 45 minutes and had a good cardio workout.
(02:26):
As we were coming home, I decided that I would take the day to work on the remaining houseimprovement items I had on my to-do list since my next few days would be busy at work.
Once I arrived home, I did a quick chi building exercise and then meditated for 30minutes.
After the meditation, I started to gather what I needed for the tasks I decided to work ontoday.
(02:49):
I got the drill I borrowed from my best friends, the fire detector I needed to install, and sat down to start the process.
However, I quickly realized that the drill bits I owned would not work for the drill mybest friend allowed me to borrow.
I tried coming up with a solution, but I had to accept that I was now blocked on thistask, as well as another that required the drill.
(03:09):
Admittedly, I was annoyed.
It's how I'm used to responding to being blocked.
My annoyance quickly subsided because I realized it was silly to be annoyed by this.
I decided to move on to another task, re-calc-ing the bathroom tub.
I cleared out the bathroom so I had plenty of space.
I gathered the tools I needed for the job and checked the caulk gun to ensure it worked.
(03:31):
As I was checking the previous caulk tube, I noticed that all the material in the tube hadsolidified.
I thought, all right, well, dang.
Blocked again.
I accepted that those tasks would not be done today.
However, I saw an opportunity.
The toolbox that I utilize for these type of tasks has materials in it from years ago.
It was also a bit dirty.
(03:53):
I took the opportunity to clean the toolbox, get rid of what no longer served my needs, and organize it so it was easier for my mom to access.
After I organized the toolbox, I decided to call one of my debt collectors to pay my bill.
Then I realized I left my debit card in the car downstairs.
At this point, I just had to laugh out loud.
(04:14):
But again, I decided to see it as an opportunity.
I thought, if I'm going to the car, I might as well go out and complete a couple of tasksthat require me to go to the bank and store.
Okay, cool.
I got to the car, called my debt collector and paid the bill.
I then completed the other two tasks on my list.
What helped me today each time I was blocked on completing a task was the advice Ireceived recently.
(04:39):
As I was being redirected to another task, I would say, well, guess the universe justdoesn't want me to do this today.
The more I said this, the more I released my frustrated state of being.
As my frustrated state of being released, I moved into a flow of being, not doing.
This flow of beingness allowed me to enjoy what I was doing and not focus on what I wantedto control doing.
(05:04):
Luke Skywalker found this flow in Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope.
Obviously he found this flow under dramatic circumstances, but conceptually it'sabsolutely accurate.
Instead of fighting myself and trying to control my external environment, I accepted theflow of my present moment.
It was fun.
That concludes the Acceptance During Redirection blog post.
