Today we are talking to Matt Johnson comparing the 2023 and 2024 Cardinals pitching roster. How does the 2024 Cardinals team stack up compared to the 2023 team, and other recent teams? Did they get that much better? Can the Cardinals count on players to perform at high levels and secure the NL Central Division Crown? The Cardinals had many things go wrong in 2023, starting with the absence of so many key players during the World Baseball Classic. Heading into 2024 we have a young group with an extra year of experience, with some proven veterans brought in and added leadership. If everything goes well, they will be playing in October, but we think the Cardinals are still short 1 strong starting pitcher, if they truly want to be competitive.
