(00:28):
Hello everyone, and welcome to anotherepisode of the Rene Plays Games podcast.
This is technically a tabletoptutorial and I am once again
joined by my wife, Lynn Hy Lynn.
Hello, there
we're a few weeks late on this one.
Sorry about that.
It's a crazy month for us.
Just personally.
(00:48):
Lots of family birthdays and justevents to have to schedule around,
but you're finally getting it.
Dick wizards.
You should tell them about this game andhow I, uh, I brought this game to you.
Yes, and it's actually one, it's themost Rhode Island story for a game
(01:09):
that's also set in Rhode Island.
So it's perfect.
This is Dick Wizards by WolfManzella, AKA Wyrd Wolf games.
And oddly enough, I'd seena few posts about it online.
'cause this was something thatwent on and funded during zine
month, which is February and is ahuge month for NDT RPGs for people
(01:29):
getting physical print run copies.
And so I'd seen a little bit about DickWizards on like Facebook groups and
on social media and stuff like that.
And I was like, okay, interesting.
You know, you gotta lovethe evocative title, right?
But then.
In the most Rhode Island waywhen you have a coworker who is
either like, what related or likein-laws or something with Wolf.
(01:53):
Yeah.
One of my coworkers, Laura, shout out.
Shout out.
She was like, Lynn, youplay like games, right?
I was like, yeah, like whatgames are we talking about?
Like video games, like tabletopgames, like, you know, and
she goes, yeah, like those.
I'm like, all right.
Like.
Tabletop games.
Games.
And she goes, yeah, my, uh, mybrother-in-law made this game and,
(02:15):
uh, I, you might be interested.
And she tells me it's, it's dick's.
And I'm like, no, that'snot like, I don't know.
I'm thinking to myself, I'm like, I don'treally like, like dick weird things.
Like, I don't know.
Like, I don't know.
Yeah.
And it's a
work conversation
too,
like out of context.
I'm like, I don't know what he'slike into, you know, I'm like,
(02:35):
I'm not trying to judge it.
And she's like,
indie games can be weird.
Yeah.
And uh, and you know, everyone has their thing.
That's fine.
You know, and uh, she's like,I'm gonna bring it in for you.
Uh, he had, I bought it for him.
I wanted to support him.
And you can look at it, the physical copy.
So she brings it in and I'm looking at it.
First of all, the coveris like, so I love it.
(02:55):
It's, it's black withthis like gold and lay
of bfat.
It's bfat like the devil.
I
dunno who that is, but you know,
it's the horned winged hoofed.
Devil, uh, baffert looking creature
and it feels so nice in your hands.
So I start reading it.
The writing hooks me.
The game style hooks me.
And the best part, it's in Providence.
(03:16):
I'm like, I'm just gonna buy this.
I'm not gonna tell Rainey.
'cause if he hears Dick Whizzes, Iknow he is gonna think the same thing.
And then, and it didn't even dawnon me what Dick Wizards meant
mm-hmm.
Until he actually started reading it.
And I did read it, but like, itdidn't, like I didn't catch on,
but it, but was spell it though.
It's DICK.
So you really think like, youknow, a dick, you know what I mean?
(03:39):
Okay.
We're talking penises, but Yeah.
Yes.
Eggplant.
Okay.
Yeah.
Uh, so Lynn bought me,oddly enough, very nice.
Uh, she bought me one of thespecial edition zines that has
the, the black cover with the goldembossed, uh, Baffert on the cover.
And yeah, so it is a DickWizards is a game of GR Wars,
(04:00):
gum shoes, and great old ones.
It is about detectives.
It is about apprentice wizard detectivesin the city of Providence that are
brought in to AOC cult investigation, sort of citizens on patrol.
It's called COP, city ofProvidence, citizens on Patrol.
But you are a wizard investigating.
(04:20):
Lovecraftian horrors and mysteriesset in the city of Providence,
which is where my day job is.
And we are both from Rhode Island,so it is the city of our home state.
So it is so perfect and, and yes,a dick is a term for a detective
from, from days of your so
I love it.
And he also sends a, a tarot card.
(04:43):
It was just so sweet.
Yep,
yep.
There's a little note in there.
And there is a tarot card thatwent out with every one of them.
We got, I believe, the Night of Cups.
Mm-hmm.
I think I'm using it as abookmark actually right now.
But, and we're gonna be usingyour tarot deck that you are
a big fan of for this game.
So should we transition intotalking about the game or should
we talk about the mechanics andthen talk about your character?
(05:06):
Maybe do that.
Yeah, sounds good.
Okay.
So for as strange and evocative as thetitle is, the Actual Game of Dick Wizards
is a mystery investigation game, and itis not made for like one-on-one play,
but we are going to do it this way.
It is a game that you'd be playingwith a group of players in a gm, but
(05:27):
we can make this work with just Lynn.
And actually the rules are writtenin a way that it doesn't matter how
many players you have, because it'sbasically enemies and obstacles
and things like that are scaled tothe number of wizards in the party.
So that is great, that design from Wolf, that it's scalable like that as opposed to
just these static challenges or somethinglike that that might make it difficult
(05:50):
to play with different size parties.
So.
It does have some familiar stats.
They are strength, dexterity,constitution, intelligence,
charisma, and kismet.
Kismet is a stat that you don't roll for.
It is simply just a, like a meta currencythat you'll be using to basically prevent
(06:12):
yourself from dealing with spell misfires.
You'll be able to spend them beforeyou roll for spells or not roll.
We'll talk about that in a second beforeyou cast spells, and each point of kismet
spent will prevent one major Arconiccard from representing a, a misfire.
However, if I ever ask you to roll anyof those attributes, you rolled 1D six
(06:37):
plus three for each of your attributes.
Go ahead and tell us what yourcharacter's attributes are.
We'll get into the namesand stuff like that.
Well, actually.
Go over it.
It is a, it's a D 12 roll,and you're gonna wanna roll
under your attribute number.
Tying is a failure, which is different.
Normally meets beats.
So this is a little morepunishing in that regard.
(06:57):
And then spells don't actually roll, you're just gonna tell me what you're
attempting to do with your spell.
And we're gonna flip cards fromthe top of the tarot card deck.
And if we flip all minor Arconiccards, your spell is, A success
goes off without a hitch.
If there is a major Arconic card, there is a complication or a misfire.
Two major Arconic cards will be a failure.
(07:19):
And if you flip one of three Major Arconiccards, cards in death, the devil or the
tower, something really bad happens.
So.
We've already made your character.
Why don't we go through the processand just so people can hear how
it goes, we'll do it very quickly,
that's fine.
But I'm not saying my stats.
I'm want a surprise for you all 'cause
(07:40):
Oh, okay.
I'm gonna give you a little foreshadow.
They're not good.
They're not.
This is true.
They're not the best stats.
You do have one.
Very good one.
But alright.
So character creation is 10 simple stepsand they really are 10 simple steps.
They're not 10 steps thattake an hour and a half.
The first is just kind of conceptualizingyour wizard and you can either
(08:01):
roll dice before or after to do it.
You're gonna roll 1D six plus three, five times to get five numbers, and
then assign those to your stats.
So again, strength, dexterity,constitution, intelligence,
charisma, and kismet.
You don't roll for kismet.
Everyone just starts with seven.
And then based on your highestattribute, can you at least give
us that Lynn without your number
(08:24):
intellect.
That's funny.
The character sheet says intellect, but the book says intelligence.
That's fine.
So yeah, your INT is your higheststat and based on your highest stat,
you get a bonus to roles with that.
So that's pretty cool.
I like that a lot and theyare pretty interesting.
I'll, since yours is, intelligencewill tell everybody at the end of
(08:44):
each scene, you regain one kismetback up to your max of seven.
That's actually really great.
You can cast spells with a little,or you can use Kismet with a little
less worry about running out of luck.
Then the next 10 steps are reallykind of just like rolling on a
bunch of D 66 tables in the backof the zine, which is so cool.
(09:05):
You can just pick stuff, but obviouslywe rolled for a lot of stuff.
So one is your startingequipment and money.
So you started with one uniquestarting item, which was.
My t menu you talking about?
No, this was your unique starting item, which I believe, did we roll this one?
(09:28):
Oh, the occult accessory?
Nope.
Oh.
Why don't you roll me to D six right now?
We're gonna roll a D 66.
Oh snap.
We didn't do this one.
64,
64 or 46.
So I'll let you choose which one you want.
A covert listening device, like a bug that you can put
somewhere or a tube of super glue.
(09:50):
Oh, a tube of super glue all day.
Dude, what is this supposed to be?
Oh, actually this wasyour vial of holy water.
Oh.
Oh
yeah.
So we, we already did roll this
fine.
So do you want the holy water ordo you want the, the super glue?
No, I'll let you choose
now.
No, no.
This is already, I got it.
That's the holy water.
Okay.
Uh, there is money involved.
Uh, it's, I don't know when thisis supposed to be taking place,
(10:12):
but you do have a cell phone.
Uh, you, you always have these things.
You have a small pack and electric torch, which is just a. Flashlight, a city issued
flip phone, A COP, citizens on patrol, not City of Providence badge and a towel,
which I like to believe is a hitchhiker'sguide reference and a very good one.
Then your weekly paycheck is only $300.
So I don't know where these wizards areliving in providence, but that's fine.
(10:36):
And then
is this supposed to be like right now?
I think so.
Wow.
We're bas I'm basing it on right now.
Um, then there is food, which is youbasically roll once to see what kind of
food you have on hand because it, youneed a belly full of food to cast spells.
What was the food that you got?
Oh, this is what got me through college.
(10:57):
Sour, gummy watermelon candy.
Oh yeah.
I remember when you rolled that.
We were like, oh, dead on.
Then there's style, which again, youare encouraged to come up with yourself.
But we rolled just forfun 'cause we love tables.
And your style was a.
King of pop.
I wear a red leather jacket and I'mgonna say black leather pants as well.
(11:18):
Very cool.
So, so Michael Jackson.
But, uh, I think that youprobably look cooler than a
dude rocking Michael Jackson.
Look, in the modern day, your occultaccessory is an item you've been
carrying for as long as you can remember.
You don't know what it does, but youmay unlock its secrets through play.
What is your occult accessory?
A fossilized heart of a succubus.
(11:40):
A succubus?
Yes.
A sex demon, basically.
Ooh,
they tempt men.
And then incubus is the male version.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Yep.
They tempt men.
And then, yeah.
So if at all we, we did flip acard when we made your character
and we flipped one of the tarotcards and we noted that card down.
(12:02):
If during play we flipped that.
You're gonna figure out and unlockthe power of your OC cult accessory.
Do you wanna tell people now orjust let it be super exciting?
If it comes up,
I'm gonna wait.
Okay.
Then you chose your school of magic.
There are no official spelllists in dick Wizards.
(12:22):
It is very narrative and freeform.
You can kind of just make up whateveryou want, and based on the intention or
the intended effect of that spell, wedetermine whether it's a one card, two
card, or three card flip to determinehow complex and dangerous it is.
But there are six schools of magic.
They're not the traditionald and d schools, although
there are a few familiar ones.
(12:42):
There is necromancy, enchantments,conation, transmutation,
apothecary, and demonic hacking.
And you surprised me with your choice.
What'd you go with?
Transmutation baby?
Yeah.
Changing one thing into anotherand then it ended up working out
really well based on your previousoccupation, which we'll get to.
Not yet, so
good.
(13:03):
Uh, the next one is your vice, which isthe way that you will recover Mind points.
Oh, we forgot to go over this.
Every wizard has threelife and three mind points.
You can never lose more than one ata time, which is again, I think very
good design for keeping characters.
You can take a huge hit, but it's onlyever gonna be one of those hit life or
(13:26):
mind points, and you'll passively heal.
Or you can get healing bypaying money to heal your body.
But mind points, you needto indulge your vice.
What was your vice?
Arson.
I like to start fires.
Yeah.
Terrifying.
That's not a, that's not a very safe vice.
(13:47):
But uh, yeah.
So you like to start fires?
I mean, it can be controlled.
Sure.
Then there are talismans, whichare one, use protection from
spell misfires or mutations.
So if you roll on like a magicalmayhem table, you can resist the
effects by using your talisman.
(14:09):
What was your talisman?
A lucky rabbit's foot.
Perfect.
Very on brand.
And then you have an arcane focus, which is what you use as a conduit
between you and your magic.
There's some really cool examples, like in this little blurb of text,
but what did you roll on the table?
A deck of tarot cards.
Very fitting.
Very perfect.
(14:29):
Alright, so your red leather jacket clad.
Wizard Apprentice Wizard in thecity of Providence rocks some tarot
cards with some sour patch gummies.
Well, you know, uh, sorry.
Some sour watermelon.
Sour gummy watermelon candy.
Yeah.
Yeah, that
I feel like we shouldhave had a bag right here.
And
(14:49):
so you could have beeneating them the whole time
and like have some littleAs SMRA while doing this.
Yeah.
Nah, I don't, I don't do as, as MR.Uh, and then last is name your wizard
and discover their previous occupation.
So you rolled a D 66 and gotthe, maybe the wildest one,
chainsaw ice sculpture or
(15:09):
sculptor.
Yes.
You are a, you were a chainsawice sculptor, which I didn't
even realize was like.
A paid job.
So maybe you getting $300 aweek to work as an apprentice
wizard is a huge, you know,
I mean, that takes talent.
It does take talent,
right.
I took a class in,
you took a
college that was like T of ice sculpt?
No, no, no.
It was, it was like a, you had toput like sculpture stuff inside of
(15:31):
a thing and then I couldn't do it.
I'm not gonna lie, it was like
pottery and sculpture.
It was really, it was really bad.
So, uh, fun fact, it's, you don'tjust roll for that randomly.
If at all.
You feel like your previousoccupation presents an opportunity
for you where you would benefitfrom the skills learned from that.
For an attribute test, you canpetition me to roll that test with
(15:57):
Advantage, which would be roll2D 12 and use the lower number.
So that's pretty funny.
Okay.
Okay.
Other than that, we'll goover how to cast magic later.
Really, it's simple.
You just kind of tell mewhat you want it to do.
Then you must name thespell and say it out loud.
There's no like subtly casting spells.
(16:19):
And then we flip the tarot cardsto see if you flip any major
arcana for misfires or failures.
Now there are a some good limitations.
I do like that for a game that's sofreeform, there are limitations to
magic restrictions to what it can do.
Like you can't just charm peopleand tell them to tell you what
you want or make them do things.
Magic and manipulation ofemotions does not work, or at
(16:42):
least you're not taught it right.
You can't cast spells that havelong-term or permanent effects.
If you wanna cast a spell and youhave another one that is currently
ongoing, you have to drop the first one.
You can't just keep spammingthe spell or any spell.
To do that, you'll become magic exhaustedand then you will need to recover or
(17:03):
indulge your vice 'cause you'll losethose mind points and you cannot actually
counter or dispel another caster's magic.
It just doesn't work like that.
Now, these restrictions donot pertain to monsters.
Monsters can probably do a lot of that, and that's probably because you're not
taught it and it is like taboo or youknow you're not supposed to do that stuff.
(17:25):
So I think with that, that pretty muchcovers everything I want to go over
as far as describing how to make acharacter and how to play the game.
Other than that, I think we'rejust gonna jump right in.
How's that sound to you?
I'm ready.
Okay.
Let's talk about Providence.
(17:45):
I don't really go to Providence.
Let's just make that clear.
Yes.
You actually dislike cities a lot.
I like candle.
I went, I, you know, I didin my internship at the
hospital, but that was it.
I went and left.
Yeah, you, you, you rode your, like two roads that you needed
to get in and then got out.
I work in Providence, like right, right in the middle of Providence.
So, and I don't spend alot of time in Providence.
(18:07):
I did in my teens and twentiesplaying a lot of music there, but
it's a very different city thanit was when I was a teenager.
So, yeah.
Um, I think we're just gonna, I'mgonna try and just for those of you
from Rhode Island or who have, uh,understanding or familiarity with the
city, hopefully there's a few thingsthat you kind of chuckle and say
like, ha ha, I got that reference.
(18:28):
And for those of you whodidn't or don't, no big deal.
You don't need to knowProvidence to enjoy this.
I just wanted to highlightsome, some local spots.
And lastly, I think the onlyreason you know that this is
set in Providence is because of.
Lovecraft and the Kaul mythos.
That is sort of a backdrop for thisgame, obviously takes place in New
(18:52):
England, and Lovecraft was fromProvidence, so that's what you get.
Alright, let's set the scene.
Dear Citizen, thank you for completingthe Citizens on Patrol Initiative
(19:13):
with the city of Providence.
Your aptitude scores were exceptional.
You're exactly what we are looking for.
We noticed you possess a burningdesire to create this wellspring of
creativity is always flickered likea flame in the back of your mind.
It makes you the perfectcandidate to become a wizard.
The key to unlocking magic all aroundyou lies in your creative energy.
(19:35):
Magic itself is creativity.
Creativity is magic.
Magic is birthing an idea intoreality with the power of your mind.
Under the tutelage of Frank Armitageii, you'll become one of the first
wizards trained in nearly 50 years.
To become a full fledgedwizard takes years.
(19:55):
The city of Providence doesnot have the luxury of time.
After an eight week crash course at oursecret training facilities and do prime,
you'll be deployed as an apprentice wizardof the cabal of providence to the citizens
of the city and the police department.
You'll be known as cops, coops, orcitizens on patrol citizens that
have been hired to help remedy anuptick in bizarre criminal activity.
(20:17):
You'll be assigned a handler alongwith a team of other apprentice
wizards, and you are encouraged towork with the police, but do not
let them impede your investigations.
The COP initiative is a unionsalaried position with full health and
dental benefits and a city pension.
Good luck.
The city of Providence is counting on you.
Sincerely, Charlene Lasso.
Director of Specialprojects, city of Providence,
(20:46):
we see Penelope Penny Black, the Apprentice Wizard.
Take a call on her flip phone.
That's me by the way.
I'm Penny.
Yes.
We didn't say your name, sorry.
We see you in an apartmentjust like in Loungewear.
You're sitting there, maybe you're evenscrolling on like your smartphone, and
(21:09):
then all of a sudden we get the buzz
of the flip phone that has been issuedto you by the cabal of Providence or the
citizens on patrol, the organization youhave begun to be a part of, now that you
have opened your third eye and are castingmagic and know about all of the things
that lurk in the dark around the city.
(21:33):
You answer the phoneand it is your handler.
And as always, they have kind of avoice manipulation thing on their
end and you just hear them say,we need you a modifier tonight.
We're expecting spawn.
Or some deep ones may beworking in the Providence River.
(21:55):
We need you to keep an eyeon the river at water fire.
It's definitely somethinghiding in that water.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
That water's pretty naty.
Take it from me.
And yeah, so we actually, it's gottento be fair, it has gotten a lot better
and it's, it's, it's yuck by RhodeIsland standards, but we do have some
(22:18):
of the best wetland regs in the country.
So high five us anyway.
Um, so yeah, so we see you throwon your red leather jacket.
And grab your backpack and all thethings that you carry with you.
Your tarot cards in yourleather jacket pocket.
We see you grab a bag of somesour watermelon, chewy candies,
and all the other stuff.
(22:38):
Your lucky rabbit's foot is like on akey chain or something like that, and
out the door, you go into Providenceand we see you start walking the city.
The city of Providence is really a cityof two hills, separated by a couple
of rivers that come to a Confluence.
It empties out into Narraganset Bay.
(23:00):
You are.
Heading down from your apartment,we're gonna say you live on the
federal hillside of providence.
Nice.
Not the, I go to Opa likeev every night, dude.
Not the college hillside of likebrown and RISD and all that.
And you are making your way to water fire, which is a very providence tradition.
(23:20):
It is literally just, there's likesome gondolas straight from Italy.
Fun fact that, uh, becauseProvidence has a little bit of
a mafia history, but, uh mm-hmm.
But they basically pull these gondolasdown, a very, very developed urban
section of the river, and they lightthese baskets of fire in the middle of the
(23:42):
river and light them up all the way down.
They, they do a good little stretchof it, and there are vendors.
And, you know, uh, food trucks and justall kinds of, uh, good things going on
to support the local folks of Providence.
And so, yeah, you're there andpeople are doing their usual thing.
They're drinking, they're buying food.
(24:02):
They are, you know, doingwhatever they are doing.
But your eyes are on the water.
What are you doing?
Tell, tell me about Penny.
What am I doing?
Okay, well, it's dark outside.
I'm wearing all black.
I have like short black hair bangs, you know, that's my look choker on.
(24:26):
I'm just like
camouflage with the scenery.
Mm-hmm.
Looking at the water, I feel like
I go near someone who is jugglingflames or like, you know, how they,
you know, what is that called?
I don't know.
(24:47):
Fire performer?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I go close to one of them so I can seethe water lit behind them or near them
to see like if I can see underneath.
Anything in the wateror a rippling effect.
Oh yeah.
Because no one is in the water using
the light.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um, okay.
Yeah, I don't know what this would be.
Probably a intelligence check maybeto, to do a, you know, perception
(25:12):
for sure.
Uh, let's just get our first roll.
Uh, as you're kind of scoutingout the scene, you're gonna roll
a D 12, D 12, and you want to rollbelow your intelligence score.
I have a seven, which is below
you succeed.
So you're looking around and you'rewatching the water, and it is rippling
the lights of the juggled flame.
(25:33):
And, and you know, the spinners, I, I, youknow what, I forget what they're called.
And I know a few people who literallydo this, and so I'm sorry for the
folks who, who do this if you'relistening, but, uh, yeah, they're,
they're doing a great performance.
And you do see the light dancingoff, off the dark waters of the
Providence River, and you think fora second you might've seen something.
(25:55):
But as you start to focus in andkind of lose yourself in it, maybe
even like willing yourself to likeenhance your, your senses to see
if you can find something downthere for just protecting the city.
Like don't want anything tohappen or people to see you feel
(26:17):
that buzz again in your phone.
Your flip phone,
I open it up,
you answer, and it's your handler onceagain and they say, penny, you're the
closest wizard to an incident and weneed you to get to the end of the tunnel
(26:39):
that goes underneath College Hill.
If you can get there quickly.
We have just overheard, uh,disturbance in the tunnel.
It's supposed to be used forbuses only, but we think that
something may have gone down there.
People heard Ching.
I love it.
I'm heading there now.
(27:00):
I, I, I think your handler says
something like, yeah,I'm just like excited.
'cause I'm like, apprentice, right?
Yeah.
I'm like, ah, I'm ready.
I'm going.
Yeah.
I think your, I think your handlerprobably even says something.
They were about to just hangup like usual, but they're just
like, yo, oh, I don't want it.
Yeah, yeah.
Sorry.
I'm just,
yeah,
I got this.
Uh, so you make your waytowards this tunnel, which we've
(27:20):
walked by, uh, numerous times.
It is, it is a tunnel that it is only usedfor bus traffic I think at this point.
I don't even know if it'sused anymore, but Yeah.
And you get to it, it is nighttime,so obviously water fire is happening.
Right.
And I think that as you've madeyour way there, the sun has like
fully gone down and you can stillhear the commotion from down at the
(27:43):
bottom of the hill along the river.
But you find yourself at theend of this tunnel and you're
looking in and it is dark.
There are police cars.
At the end of the tunneland their lights are on.
They have started to, startedto cordon off this tunnel.
And bus traffic is nolonger coming in and out.
And your handler in the briefconversation we had, but didn't
(28:04):
say all of, let you know that theyare expecting an outside expert to
come in and, uh, and investigate.
Well, they ain't got nothing on me.
Well, I think the whole point isyou're supposed to walk up to them
and say like, show your COP badge.
Oh
yeah.
I'm supposed to work with them.
Get information.
(28:25):
Yeah.
I think that you want to, they, they want you to get in that tunnel.
Oh
yeah.
All right.
And make sure they dont seeanything they're not supposed
to.
Hold on.
Sorry, I forgot.
Yeah.
Dick wizard.
Dick wizard.
I'm a detective.
Correct.
And a wizard.
But people don't know that, right?
Correct.
So,
okay.
I didn't realize that.
Yeah.
So should, should I give a littlecontext into how the occult works?
Like what I'm involved?
(28:46):
Well, so, uh, for the most part, uh,the, the book does do a great job.
There is a thing called the Third Eye,and basically you have opened your third
eye, but most people do not know or don'twant to know, and that's the whole point.
Right.
I'll actually read this 'cause I thinkthat this is really good writing in here.
It says there are monsters, ancientartifacts, cosmic entities, and
(29:07):
bizarre happenings in providence.
So why isn't anyone reportingit to the police or local news?
It's because of the third eye.
Most humans don't want to knowwhat lurks in the shadows.
They're content to consume, procreate, sleep, and obey mindless sheep.
Whenever somebody witnesses thesupernatural, otherworldly, or magical.
Their brain just recalculates thephenomenon to something mundane.
(29:29):
A fireball spell.
Nope, that was a madman hurling.
A Molotov AOC cultist with tentaclesslithering out of their hooded cloak.
That's an ugly bearded hooligan or adrunk person frothing at the mouth.
There's a small percentage ofpeople who are able to open
this metaphysical third eye.
These people tend to be outcasts weirdos.
And those drawn to the strange andunusual seeing the unbelievable
(29:49):
will merely confirm whatthey've always known to be true.
They understand the world is filledwith unexplained dark things that were
not meant for the ken of human minds.
That is you.
So the Providence PD are here, but you, you know, they're
about to be useless, right?
Like, they're like, oh, somebody wentin there and they're not supposed
to do something bad happened.
(30:10):
We're gonna get in theresoon with the team.
But, uh, we were told to wait and, andyou're gonna get first looks in there.
Yeah, I do.
So how does Penny proceed?
I like where, where's in there?
In the side of the tunnelor outside the tunnel?
In, so inside the tunnel, supposedly something happened.
Your handlers,
is there lights in the tunnel?
No,
(30:30):
I can't
see.
Well, there's supposed to be, butit looks pitch black in there.
How about I use a spell,
uh, right in front ofthese police officers?
Well, they, they don't have to.
I Why do they have to see it?
I mean,
see me,
you walk in with your flashlightfor a few feet and then use
the spell to do the rest.
Yeah,
yeah,
yeah.
Let's, let's get that first spelling.
What, what's the spell you're gonna use?
(30:52):
Like orb of lights.
Orb of light.
Yes.
So that is one of the apprentice
I'm filling, I'm filling all the
things.
Oh, lights plural.
Well, I'm making it plural.
Sure, sure.
Uh, I still, I still think that'sonly gonna be a one card flip.
Okay.
Do you want me to flip thetop card of the tar deck?
Yeah, you can flip for me.
So, simple, simple spells likecan trips, things that you'd.
Every day for utility.
(31:13):
Those are one card spells,so we're gonna flip one card.
As long as it is not a majorarcana, you should be good.
Oh, it's for, I have to read it.
Sure.
Why Do you wanna read it?
Sure.
10 of Pentacles.
So you're good.
That is a minor arcana.
Spell your orbs of light.
Kind of start to dot thetunnel and you can see.
(31:35):
However, I will say, I think that you'resurprised at how much they seem to be.
Being resisted.
Interesting.
I may my way down.
Do I hear anything?
I think Why don't you makeanother intelligence check.
You got it Dude,
(31:58):
I got a 12.
That's bad.
Oh,
you.
Don't hear anything, which is strange.
And with a failure there, I think what'sgoing to happen is you are going to
be walking forward and suddenly allof your lights are going to go out.
(32:19):
Oh man, I still got my flashlight.
You do have a flashlight.
And as you're reaching to grab itand click it back on, going back to
the mundane methods of seeing in thedark, you hear a voice behind you.
They send an apprentice, patheticabandon this investigation wizard.
(32:41):
If you value your life, you are out of your depth.
I, ah,
do you scream
a little bit like,
okay,
not like scream, scream like, ah,
okay,
jump.
Do you turn point your
Yes.
Uh, you turn and point your flashlight.
You don't see anybody, but then you notice.
(33:02):
On the other side of the tunnel, there is a candle and all it is really
illuminating is a small corona of light.
And what you see is a hooded figureand they have a mask on and it
reflects, it kind of glows witha like bronze maybe or gold mask.
(33:26):
And they're just looking at you andthey're standing over a dead body.
Oh, snap.
I want to run, but I don't, I turnto 'em and I'm holding my cart up.
That would, that wouldblast a fireball at 'em.
But I then I just say, who are you?
(33:46):
So you're holding the cardup almost intimidating.
Yes.
Okay.
Um, well, I think that this person's notgoing to be intimidated by you at all.
So we're gonna go into combat.
I need you to roll a dexterity check.
So roll a D 12.
You're trying to rollunder your dexterity.
Two.
Okay.
That is a success.
So you get to act first.
You see that they have a hand, itcomes up, they're holding a candle.
(34:11):
You can see their face.
It's glinting off of their mask.
And you see, uh, a deadbody on the ground.
You can't make much detail aboutit, but they raise their hand and
they're about to put out their candleso you won't be able to see them.
And what do you do?
You get to act first.
So what is it you are doing?
(34:31):
Well, I still wanna see is theresomething I could throw my fireball at
to catch on fire, like a rope that'shanging from the top of the tunnel?
Or
why would there be a ropehanging from the top of a tunnel?
Bus tunnel?
I don't know.
I'm thinking about it.
If you, if you throw afireball, guess what?
It will make a big light.
But also there are copsat the end of the tunnel.
(34:53):
This is true.
I mean, free action is talking.
Talking is a reaction.
This is not DD uh, you canjust, you can talk what?
They will disappear.
It is your turn.
You need to decide what you're gonna do.
Okay.
I'm stressed.
Hold on.
All right.
I,
and you can always make up a spell tooif you don't have something immediately
available, but you wanna do something.
(35:14):
I
create fireflies, but they're like, fireflies and they stay alive and I could see,
okay.
That sounds to me like a two card spelled.
Does that sound seem reasonable?
You're gonna light upthis whole like Yeah.
Big
area.
This tunnel?
Yeah.
I'm gonna trans mutate pebbles onthe ground into little fireflies
(35:35):
so I can see what's going on.
Okay.
I think that sounds like a twocard spell, because it's not
just like a simple can trip.
You are transmuting.
That is your specialty.
Do you wanna spend any kismet orare you just gonna flip two cards?
I'll flip two cards.
All right.
Well there's one major arcana the sun.
And that is the five of
Swords.
(35:56):
Okay, so it is one majorarcana, which is a complication.
You, your spell does gooff, but you have a misfire.
So I think that you do this and a bunchof the pebbles in here start to rise.
And they start to glow andmove around like fireflies.
What's a good complication for this?
As this cultist is attempting to get away?
(36:20):
They don't last very long.
Why don't we, do you wanna roll on themagical missha or magical mayhem table?
I love a table.
Uh, it's, you know, this might be a littletoo aggressive, but why, why don't tell
me what to roll
2D six, and let's see ifit's a reasonable thing.
63, a 36,
63, or 36 63 says chaoticenergy surges out of your body.
(36:42):
The wizard with the lowestkismet is electrocuted.
Or 36 says wizard's mouthis zippered shut opening.
It is tricky and painful.
You have to test your decks eachtime you speak or lose a life point.
I kinda like that.
Let's do it.
You wanna do that?
Yeah.
You go to do this and yeah, maybe yourmouth feels like it's just been like
(37:06):
sewn shut and now this cultus is up.
We're gonna do a combatand so this is really fun.
The way that enemies work inthis game is, is really great.
I've never seen a game that designsenemies like this, but I really like it.
The GM does not roll dice in this game.
They're called the fortune teller.
The fortune teller instead has to designenemies and they need to give them actions
(37:28):
based on every suit of the tarot deck.
As well as major arcana, and theyall have one special ability.
So I'm gonna flip a card andwe're gonna see what happens.
So the special ability of this cultist whois a cultist of Haster says aura of anou.
(37:50):
The mere presence of these cultistsSAPs a wizard of joy and happiness.
Any wizard sharing a zone withthe cultist of pastor must pass
a charisma check before theyattempt anything on their turn.
If they fail, the wizard isunable to attack on their turn.
You're not that close to them yet.
But if they close the distanceon you, they're gonna like
drain away your life energy.
(38:12):
I'm gonna flip a card for the cultist andwe get, ooh, another major arcana justice.
So their major arcana is the yellow sign.
They use your firefly pebbles againstyou, and they move them in a way that
they create a symbol that your brain sees.
(38:35):
And then immediately realizes it'snot supposed to know what that is.
Please roll an intelligence check.
I secede
you secede from the union.
You succeed.
And so I don't know how this works.
This says the wizard is seen, theyellow sign, they lose one mind point.
It does say intelligence.
(38:56):
I think that basically youhave to roll to resist.
I don't believe it says monsters will drawa tarot card equal to their threat rating.
Melee attacks are quick.
Require a deck save.
Sometimes it's a strength save.
Yeah.
So I think that these are saves andyou manage to save against this.
You start to realize thatthey are making a sign that is
(39:20):
going to mess with your brain.
Okay?
And it's going to sap youfurther of your magic powers.
How do you, it is now your turn.
What are you going to do in response?
I am going to cast wind.
Wind
(39:41):
and make the sign go away.
Well, you currently still are kindof in control of these pebbles.
Oh.
So, you know.
Yeah.
So, all right.
So
it could be a little bit oflike a wizard control dual here.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
All right.
Yeah, I, I am trying to movethem out of that position.
(40:01):
But you're going to like make it anattack or you're just dispelling them?
Yeah.
You know what, yeah, I'll do that.
I will make them go towards that guy.
The cultist?
Yes.
Okay.
So any attack bell does flip Three cards.
Do you wanna spend any kismetbefore I start flipping?
No.
You will regain at leastone at the end of the scene.
(40:23):
No.
Okay.
You're living dangerously.
Here goes, if we flip any majorarcana, there's a complication.
If we flip two, it is a failure.
The fool.
You get another major arcana, the nine of Pentacles.
And the empress.
When you got two major arcana, you failto take back control of these pebbles,
(40:47):
these burning pebbles from this cultistwho is now going to cast their spell
or do their thing, the eight of cups.
So their cups actionsays, spit tainted wine.
You need to make a dex check as thiscultist pulls out from under their robes.
A vial or a gulp of a goblet.
(41:10):
Did you succeed?
No.
You failed.
Okay.
They, they take a sip of this and theyspit it in a huge like spray of putrid
smelling mist and it overtakes you andyou kind of like put your hand up and
(41:30):
close your eyes and cover your mouth.
Uh, but it's just enoughof that distraction.
My
mouth is zippered shut,
by the way.
That's true.
Your mouth is zippered shut.
Good point.
Uh, it says here, you must spend yournext turn attacking another wizard.
However, you don't haveanother wizard to attack here.
So do we say you just forego your turn?
Yeah, probably.
(41:51):
Or do you want to do something else?
Um, maybe.
I try to unzipper my mouth.
Okay.
Yeah.
Make a Dex Check
two.
Yes, I succeed.
Okay.
So you succeed in UNM Magic, gluing your mouth together.
(42:13):
And I think that in that bit of amoment, we're gonna flip a card.
Pentacles allows this person,
wait, that's my card.
Why is it this that, why is this your card?
Is it really?
Yeah.
Okay.
The Queen of Pentacles is your card.
You are going to unlockyour occult accessory,
(42:37):
which is a fossilized heart of a succubus.
What do you think this means?
It comes out and it triesto lure him into some.
Okay, that's actually a great point.
Does this give you accessto a new spell, you think?
Or like it Do you
I think the stone starts like glowing.
(42:59):
Can I throw out something verynot, uh, media touchstone here.
Like, this isn't Kullu esque, but I almost feel like it's like
magical girl transformation.
Like it's the heart of asuccubus and it's just like,
it's kind of like,
it's like accept me
that show that woman watches
Teen
Ping.
Uh, but you turn, you turninto like, uh, it's says like,
(43:23):
be the conduit of my power.
Yes.
Yeah,
absolutely.
I'm just a sexual freak, I guess.
I don't know.
Is that what they do?
It
doesn't have to.
Okay.
So it does not have to be that.
But maybe what it doesis it lets you tap into
charming.
Yes, exactly.
It lets you break that rule without
using three cards.
(43:44):
Right.
It lets, it lets you break the rulethat you cannot charm another character.
I charm it.
Okay.
Uh, so I think you, let'smake this a three card flip.
Fine.
Well, I mean,
I'm using kiss him, kissit, whatever that is.
What?
Kismet.
Kismet.
I've never seen that word before.
Ever.
It's like fate or luck.
(44:06):
How many?
One.
No, three.
Let's do it.
You're spending all, you'respending three kiss men.
Oh, gotcha.
No.
Um, I have seven.
You have seven.
You'll regain one at the end of the scene.
Let's do two.
Okay.
So if we flip two, we this, this negates two major arcana
for the purposes of failing.
That is the five of Pentacles, theseven of Wands, and the Queen of wands.
(44:32):
So you spent two, you didn'tneed to, but that's okay.
You're gonna get one backat the end of the scene.
But if I had done not havedone it, I would've gotten
one
major card.
Okay.
Also, uh, you cast a spell ofCharming someone right through
the heart of this Succubus.
Yes.
You need to name the spell.
We need to know what thename of this spell is.
This is called Baby Lips.
(44:53):
That's disgusting.
What?
No, she just starts sweettalking outta my mouth.
Baby lips like a baby.
No, no.
Like don't they call like, peoplewho have like nice lips, baby lips?
Like, isn't that like something that like,
okay, should I hit stop right now?
No, no, no, no.
We need to discuss this.
(45:14):
I've never heard baby lips.
You never heard like, how's it going, baby lips?
I'm you that, me.
That's not, I'm, I'm, I'm a man and I'venever been creeped on by old, an old guy.
I think is where you're coming from here.
I think you've been creepedon by a few too many old guys.
Ly.
I don't know.
Well, I'm calling it that.
That's okay.
Baby lips.
It is.
Okay.
Uh, so what is the effect of this spell?
(45:34):
We already said it's three cards, soit's gonna, it can be pretty powerful.
So I, when I like ask Who are you?
Who are you?
And like
he unin.
Yeah.
This, this cultist unintentionallyhas to give you information.
Yeah.
Like, who are you, what have you done?
Okay.
But I say it, I'm like, who are you?
And
yeah,
what have you done?
(45:54):
Oh, that was your seductive.
Wow.
Interesting.
So I think that, yeah, you almostsee this person not even realize
like they, they can't help themselvesbut to say things out loud and they
like stop in their tracks and theyturn to you and they're just like,
(46:15):
she fulfilled her required need.
She, she did what she needed todo and now she was a liability.
I was told to get rid of her.
Who is I?
My name, I am Vinny Ancy, but that'sthe only name you're gonna get outta me.
(46:40):
And you see him pull a dagger and.
You wonder what he's gonna do with that?
I think, actually, you know what,if you've got him charmed like
this, I think he's going to,he pulls a ceremonial dagger.
I'm almost wondering if Iflip swords on this card.
I do.
The two of swords.
(47:00):
He's gonna stab himself.
Yeah, he uh, he, he kills himselfinstead of giving you more information.
Wow.
So now there are two dead bodies in this.
Yikes.
This tunnel.
And the cops are waiting for you tocome out so they can do their thing.
I search his body.
(47:23):
Well, there's another body in here too.
You search his body and you findthat he's carrying nothing on him.
He's in like a robewith a mask and a hood.
I take the mask, the, I
put it in my backpack.
You take the mask.
Okay.
You take the mask.
Yeah.
Put it in your backpack.
Okay.
Looks like a 20 something year old guy.
Remember the last timeI didn't put a mask on?
Yeah.
Yeah.
(47:43):
Okay.
I should have put a, I should have puta dog in this adventure too, so that way
you could just ignore that the whole time.
What about the other body?
Do you wanna search that one?
Yeah, I guess so.
You do find a RISD student id?
Mm-hmm.
This was a, they were a student atrisd, which is a very good school
of design here in Rhode Island.
(48:03):
And she, her name appears tobe Becca Kim and she, yeah.
So you, you, you like that one?
Uh, you, yeah.
You don't really find outmuch about her looking.
Give her me an intelligence check.
I got a one.
Does she have like atattoo on her or anything?
(48:24):
So, very close.
Actually.
I think that she has a stamp on herhand that you would recognize as
things that they put on people, likegoing into clubs and stuff like that.
What's the stamp of?
This is actually one thatyou are not familiar with.
Maybe, you know what, maybe you are familiar.
You got a one on your intelligence check.
(48:46):
This is actually one thatyou are familiar with.
This is like, this is a stampthat they give to people who go to
like warehouse raves and like, uh,technically like illegal parties in
like old abandoned mill buildingsthat are all throughout Providence.
Okay.
This is like an artist thing.
Okay.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
I got you.
(49:06):
Boo.
With a one.
You know where to go lookingfor this kind of thing.
Do you go deal with the cops real quick?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You give them the information.
What, what do you tell 'em about the guy?
Looks like some freakdoing another weird thing.
Okay.
Yep.
You just kinda
like, probably some college
(49:28):
Yeah.
Fling.
So some, some romance gone wrong?
Yeah.
Or like hazing or something gone wrong.
Hazing, yeah.
Okay, good.
Okay.
Yeah, you kind of spin it againlike the, like the third eye, right?
Like they don't wanna see anythingunnatural happening here, so they're gonna
spin it to be whatever mundane, a terriblething, you know, is justifiable to them.
But, you know, you gottaget somewhere else.
(49:49):
It's getting late, you know, the night is, is getting late
and you know that there is a,
it is perfect when it gets late.
There's only a few places, you know, onlya few big mills or, or where, you know,
I mean mill buildings where people canget away with setting up big parties.
So you're heading to Ville?
(50:09):
Ville
Ville.
Oh boy.
Yeah.
Gonna get yourself somewieners while we're at
it.
Yeah.
Get some New York system, some coffee.
Hot wieners.
Yeah, absolutely.
At the original three.
All the way.
My harry arm.
All right, go ahead.
So many people have no idea whatyou were just talking about.
Uh, I feel like we should tell people, but
you gotta experience the sweat yourself.
(50:30):
If, if you ever come to Rhode Island, definitely find yourself a New
York system and get a hot wiener.
It is our version of a hot dogeverywhere, has their own hot dog.
It's really good.
Anyway, it
makes you stink.
It does it.
They are stinky.
So I go to
ville,
you're going to Ville and you'relooking for a warehouse artist party.
What day of day is
this right now?
I mean, like at this pointit's probably pretty late.
(50:51):
I would say, you know, approaching midnight, you know,
which is probably early even.
Yeah.
For these kinds of parties.
All right.
Um, but you were at water fire earlier.
You've done like, youknow, a little bit of.
Actual work investigating.
Mm-hmm.
And then like dealing withthe cops, then finding a ride.
You know, there, there aren't taxis.
There are taxis in Providence, but it's not that big of a city.
So
(51:12):
Uber,
yeah.
You catch an Uber or whatever anduh, yeah, you make your way to this,
this warehouse, this, you know, there's a lot of mills over there.
You ask around about the stampand it doesn't take long.
Uh, actually, you know what, why don'tyou roll me a charisma and this is
gonna be how quickly you can find outwhere it is you're supposed to be.
(51:33):
Not really, uh, that
charismatic
about this.
Oh, I guess I'm better than a thought.
I blend right in.
I got a three.
A three under your charisma score.
Yeah.
Actually your charismascore is pretty bad.
But you look the part here, right?
You look, you look kindalike a hardass, uh,
scene, sir.
No one's gonna mess with you.
Look at scene stir.
Yeah.
You look at the artist type wheresomebody would be like, okay,
(51:54):
yeah, maybe they do do something.
And it kind of points you to.
Like these abandoned mills that areright along the winos Pawtucket River.
It's, it's nasty.
Like, you know, there was, they, they've tried to do a lot of things
in there, but nothing ever sticks.
Right.
And so there's like a whole lot of theseabandoned floors and lofts and like, you
know, elevators and all these things.
(52:15):
And you can see up in the windows ofone of them flashing lights, strobing
lights, uh, artist party music blaring, you know, only a matter of time before the
cops show up here to, to shut this down.
But they're gonna let 'em dotheir thing 'cause it's, they,
they could be doing worse.
You know,
I'm gonna trans mutate myskin into that stamp on it.
(52:36):
Oh, clever.
Okay.
I think that's, that's a,so I can get a low cost one.
Yeah.
Uh, so go ahead and markyour kismet back up to six.
And then, do you wannaspend one here or no?
Um,
you're flipping one card.
Yeah, I do.
Okay, so leave it at five and, oh, no.
Kismet does not protect you from death.
(52:57):
No, I wanted to get into this party.
I am not doing very well.
No, you've, we've flipped a lotof major arcana in like 15 cards.
Death is usually a good thing.
This is true.
This is true, but yeah.
But you know, the car does say death.
Okay.
So for the record, if youflip the tower death or the
devil, the spell does not work.
(53:18):
A misfire occurs and we reshuffle thedeck with these, all this back in it.
So why don't you go ahead and restartshuffling some of these cards back
in here while I figure out a miss.
It says the spell does notwork and a misfire occurs.
So oof.
(53:38):
You don't even get the stamp.
Yep.
It doesn't work.
Something's gonna happen to your skin.
Oh no.
Should I look at the,
I'll just put a stamp on the other hand.
Should I look at the, should Ilook at the mayhem and just pick
one or do you wanna roll 2D six?
No, I let, oh, um, no, I'm rolling.
2D six.
I
like,
I like that.
Yeah.
Let's
roll
2D
six to see what happens.
(53:59):
Yeah.
35 or 53.
Whoa.
Okay.
There's one here that's very appropriate.
Uh, 35 says, all of your musclesgrow to superhuman levels.
While your brain withers, your strength becomes a 12.
Your intelligence is lowered by 1D sixor 53 says Your skin turns to metal.
(54:19):
You are hard to hurt, but slow.
All my skin, or just that one spot that
we'll like your, we'll say likeyour arm from the elbow down.
How about my hand,
your arm from the elbow down?
You drew death.
Fine, man.
What am I gonna do?
Oh, you know what?
I got my glove with my, um, king of pop.
(54:42):
I'll slide it on hand.
Oh my God.
You have, you have the oneglove, the Michael Jackson glove.
That's really funny.
I'm gonna slide it on my hand.
No one's gonna know.
Okay.
Uh, all right.
Except for my shoulder.
Uh,
I am going to try to trans mutate
again.
The other, the other hand.
Okay, go for it.
Are you spending a kismet?
(55:04):
Um, or was at five?
No.
Okay.
Whew.
The 10 of swords, you are safe.
You do get it on the other hand, which allows you to, as you
walk through this warehouse.
Find the entrance and the staircaseor what have you to get up to
this party as you enter, andthere's people that are painting.
It's all, you know, neonlights, all this stuff.
(55:26):
It, it, it's, it's a verycool, just vibe, right?
Like, just, just imagine the vibes.
Great, great.
Sketchy.
This is cool.
In your early twenties party, right?
There's like a bunch of like, I don'tknow, maybe like nude people, performers.
Yeah.
In the, in the middle.
And everyone's just like, I don't know.
(55:46):
What do you do as anartist and not an artist?
Yeah.
They're, they're, they'rebo they're body painting.
They are, you know, experimenting.
There's a lot of like,
maybe they're sculpting.
Yeah.
Maybe they're sculpting.
Yeah.
Again, they're, this is, this is aplace where a RISD student is partying.
At least one.
I bet you there's many of them whoare doing things like this that are
just kind of like, find some ice.
They're, they're pushing people.
(56:06):
Avan guard, they're, they're young.
They're, you know, they're, they'repunk, they're revolutionaries,
they're trying to like, change things.
They're, they're very, they'restill very bold, right?
Haven't.
Gotten numb to everything fromhaving to work and still try to
create art and stuff and be creative.
So you're at this party andyou're trying to find out anybody
(56:26):
who knows about Becca Kim.
Now that's gonna be maybe hard tofind somebody, but you can ask around
what do you think?
You can cast a spell oryou can use charisma.
I'm gonna put the mask on.
Ooh.
As like an rt
DI like this thing.
Yeah, yeah.
(56:46):
If you, so why don't you roll mecharisma, but you get to roll with
advantage 'cause of this mask.
So roll twice, take the lower number.
You failed on both.
I failed on both.
I'm going to, I'm gonna use thisas an opportunity to fail forward.
Okay.
Wait, wait, wait.
I can use my lucky's rabbit's foot, right?
(57:07):
No, that is to resist.
That's to resist a misfire actually.
Ah, shucks.
I gotta remember that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So if you wanted to do that to dealwith your metal arm, you can do that.
No, I like my metal arm.
Yeah.
And it's gonna, it's gonnawear off soon, right?
But it's just kindalike heavy at your side.
You can't really use it for anything.
I feel like, uh, you put
the mask on
(57:27):
that like late nineties, 2000 showwhere like the Planet Earth guy like
flies up and they all the Captain
Planet.
Yes.
Why do you feel like that
does?
Isn't he made of metal?
No.
Oh.
All right.
Nevermind.
I remember it wrong.
Captain Planet is not made of metal.
(57:47):
Uh, okay.
Anyway,
you're struggling to find anybodyin here who knows anything about it.
And actually, you know what?
You know what?
This, we're gonna letyou fail forward here.
I think that you think the maskis a good way to seem artsy.
Right to seem like you'repushing the envelope.
Like you're, you're being edgyfor the sake of edgy or something.
(58:11):
Right?
That's not what these people are doing.
And what actually ends up happening issomeone recognizes the mask for what it
is, a mask of aoc, cultist, a member ofan organization, a dark organization.
And you are approached that, you know whatyou're like standing on the side, like
(58:32):
waiting, like your arm is like all pinsand needles is like, the metal skin is
like starting to like go away and you'reregaining feeling and your right arm and
you're leaning against a wall and somebodylike, very cool, you know, movie style
just kinda like stands next to you, likekicks one leg up against the wall and
leans back against their, their shoulders.
And they're like, um, whatdo you think you're doing?
(58:58):
I am resting.
Is there something I should knowabout, or are you just being,
I am just trying tolearn our next sacrifice.
If you could just walk away fromme and meet me in the corner.
(59:18):
Nice.
And we'll chat a little more about this.
Okay.
Yeah.
You try and lure theminto like a secluded area.
Yeah.
To get information out of them.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's great.
Roll.
I think this is gonna becharisma probably, unless you
can pitch me something else.
(59:38):
No, I can't.
Okay.
So try charisma.
Oof.
Man.
If I, if I got a 12.
Okay.
So you fail, so this person looks atyou and they're just like, we don't
have another victim at this party.
What are you talking about?
I can tell 'em that they got away.
(01:00:00):
Oh, okay.
You're gonna lie like that?
Yeah.
He, I think he looks at you and he sayslike, we're not dealing with victims.
We are finding people tocreate art to bring him here.
The last one got awayand we need another one.
Okay.
Uh, roll Charisma with Advantage
(01:00:23):
12 five.
Which ties
is a failure.
Ugh.
Sorry.
I'm such a failure.
This person is suspicious.
Does not believe you.
And I don't know if you'regoing to, all right.
Okay.
Well then you know
what?
No, no.
I'm gonna trans mutate.
(01:00:44):
I realize this and I wannatrans mutate his mouth.
Like what happened to you?
Yes.
Okay,
I got the idea from him.
Okay, now I wanna do it to him.
So this is gonna be three cards'cause it is an offensive spell.
Oh boy.
I'm going to use a charisma.
Okay, a kismet.
So you're down to, oh, sorry,
yeah.
(01:01:04):
Four.
Okay.
Three of swords.
Knight of Cups.
Four of cups.
So you're good.
You actually zip hismouth shut and he's like,
and he looks at you and you cansee he's about to get violent.
He's about to get physical.
However, before we go to combat, you told him this person got away.
(01:01:26):
He looked at you.
Surprised the information that youkind of need here is they just told
you they're recruiting people tocreate things to bring someone here.
I think what you need is where to go.
Gotcha.
Roll me.
You know what?
You are down to four Kismet.
Roll kismet for me to see ifyou are lucky or not right now.
(01:01:53):
No.
Okay.
Figured where the shot, this person'sabout to get a little violent.
Can I
throw some holy water at 'em?
Do
you, you can, uh, do you justgonna p pocket holy water.
(01:02:13):
Uh, do you wanna do that?
Yeah, I wanna see ifit like, does anything.
Okay.
Rolodex check.
Rolodex extract.
No.
Oh my gosh.
You, you fish it outta your pocket.
You throw it on his face and he is like,
uh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna let this, ohmy gosh, babe, you are rolling terribly.
Maybe switch out that detail.
(01:02:34):
Uh, you are rolling terribly.
I think that maybe.
This, you spray water all over this face.
You still have a mask on.
You look ridiculous.
Well, I was just thinking I need tofigure out where I gotta go, right?
Yeah.
So I probably should unzip his lips.
But wait, before I do that, maybe I,I'll, maybe I'm going to reshape reality.
(01:03:02):
Oh, that's one of your spells, right?
Yeah.
I'm gonna turn his clothes into a chair.
His, I'm sorry, I don't evenunderstand what that means.
Like his clothes are just gonnamorph into like a chair and
he is just gonna be sitting.
Okay.
I thought you meant like itwas gonna be like a chair with
a, a, like a human head on it.
(01:03:24):
No.
Okay.
I, I don't know how this works,but you're gonna like cement his
Yeah.
Clothes into a, a fixed position.
Gotcha.
Uh, I'm gonna, I I will not let this is
Or a wall.
Oh, into the wall.
Okay.
Maybe he tra like, reshape reality, like put him into the wall.
This, this, this probably qualifiesas a three card flip, but I'm
(01:03:44):
gonna make it a two card flip.
So are you spending any kismet?
No.
Ace of Pentacles, or is that 10 of wands?
Correct.
So you're good.
You stop him to the walland then you unzip his mouth
and I take off the mask and I say,
(01:04:10):
where are they?
Mm.
Okay,
where are the pieces?
Ooh, that's a good question.
This could be another,
and I'm getting angry so I have afire finger of a lighter and I'm
holding it right in front of his nose.
Okay.
(01:04:33):
You are so funny.
Like that is not okay.
Look, that's my like vice.
Oh, starting a fire?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I haven't had you loseany heine points yet?
Maybe.
Maybe he has like a big beard.
That's a good, and I'm like starting it.
I fine.
Maybe
he has a big beard.
Where did this
No, a big beard.
Okay.
And just like
you sit.
Yeah.
You s his slightly long beard.
(01:04:53):
There you go.
And he's like, come on, whatthe hell's wrong with you?
You ask where are the pieces?
You don't think this person'sgonna give you any information.
This is either gonna be a charisma checkor you're gonna need to cast a spell.
You do now have the ability of thissuccubus and I think that, you know what?
Can you roll a constitution Checkfor me to see if you can resist
this succubus heart trying to, um,
(01:05:16):
no.
Uh, you can roll with advantagebecause you did unlock it.
No,
the suck.
The succubus is like, the succubus islike, let me have him, let me add him.
I'll get you what you want.
I will get you what you want.
Do I like trans mutate it into its chest?
(01:05:37):
No, it like
the heart.
Well, you can do that.
Like push it into like
his chest.
His
chest.
This Well, no, I was just thinking like,
isn't it a heart?
Yeah.
I imagine it's like a smalllittle petrified heart.
Yeah.
My thought is you canuse this as magic now.
Oh, you don't have to like, put it in him.
Oh.
That's defeats the purpose,then it's gone forever.
(01:05:59):
This is your cult accessory you'vehad forever, and you're just gonna
put it in someone else's heart.
No, touche.
I think the, the, it just this succubusjust really wants to take from people.
That's what it is.
And like, I, the, the hint I'mgiving you here is that it's
leading you down a slippery slope.
(01:06:20):
Do you let it
Yeah, I mean, I have to.
I I just
got, uh, spend one mind pointand we're going to cast a spell
here for this succubus to get theinformation you want out of him.
And I think that, again, likevery matrix rave scene, right?
Like you're like it toeveryone else at the party.
(01:06:41):
You, you know, you've.
Cemented this person to the wall, but I think that maybe you're like
leaning him, like leaning up againstthe wall and to everybody else.
It just looks like two peopleabout to like make out against
a wall at a, at a party, right?
Yeah.
It's like we could dock in there andlike the lights are like flashing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And you're like up close andlike you've got like your fire.
Mm-hmm.
And he's like squirming.
But to everyone else again, theydon't have their third eye open.
(01:07:04):
They don't know what's going on here.
This is a spell from the Succubusheart and she's gonna get
you the information you want.
Do you wanna spend a kismet?
No.
The page of Pentacles.
The nine of swords.
I didn't know you were doing three
Temperance.
Are you, do you wanna spend one?
(01:07:25):
No, no.
It's so, it's just so,it's just a complication.
Uhhuh.
So that's what it is, is themind point, is the complication.
Right?
Like it's, it's draining you becausethis was not you doing this magic.
You don't actually havecontrol over this magic.
So you and temperance is such a wild oneto pick too, because it's supposed to
be about moderation and not indulging.
(01:07:49):
Right?
And so I think your fire flickers, but I think that, again, this person
kind of just like, it's almost likethis deep, like, like you can like
hear them like exhaling fighting everysecond of it where they're just like.
Tunnels under the mall.
Under the mall.
They, they go, they go to the state house.
(01:08:12):
Ugh.
And then he just kind of like faints.
There are tunnels in theProvidence Place Mall that lead
underground to the State House.
Are they really?
I don't think so.
Oh.
But I'm saying there are now.
Okay.
If I'm right, who knows?
Uh, I, we still gotta watch thatdocumentary about the people
(01:08:33):
who lived in the Providencebased mall for years or months
in, in the garage.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, I guess I, uh, I'mgonna go to those tunnels.
Okay.
Well, the mall is closed at thispoint, so how are you getting it?
Through the garage?
Okay.
Yeah.
You can easily go in through the garage.
Mm-hmm.
Um, but the doors to themall itself are locked.
(01:08:54):
So do you have any I find
security and
you're, you're gonna go through security.
Yeah.
I have a, I have a, you have a badge COPbadge, and I say this is, and I, I take a
piece of paper and I trans mutate into a,
like a warrant?
Yeah.
Or like a, like aofficial looking document.
Yeah.
Saying like, bring me to,
(01:09:15):
okay.
I think that's a, I think it's a one drop.
Do you wanna
Sure.
You, you regain a kismetat the end of that scene.
The king of wands.
So you're good.
And the king of wands is, is perfect.
Oh, there was a complication at that.
Oh, it was the mind point, right?
Um, so the King of Ws gets youin, uh, it is authority, right?
That is exactly what it is.
You walk in, you're like,I got this piece of paper.
You slam it up againstlike the clear wall.
(01:09:36):
If you actually ever go to the mall andyou walk in through the garages, you
can actually see like near where peopleleave, they have like little windows
and into their security offices, andyou just slam it up against the wall.
And a guy who's like on latenight like, looks up at you,
surprise anybody's even there.
And he is like, oh.
And I think that it's just enough likeauthority that he doesn't even ask
questions and he just lets you in.
(01:09:58):
And he is like, where do you need to go?
And you ask him about some back tunnelsand he says like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He goes like, uh, all the ones up, uptop are, you know, for getting goods
and stuff into the stores without.
Uh, without people seeing him, without having to go through
like the, the main thoroughfare.
But like, uh, he says like, yeah, thereare, there are ones underground too.
(01:10:18):
He was like, what do you, whatdo you gotta do down there?
I am just checking for rats.
You know how it goes.
Is that seriously what you're saying?
You're just pest control.
That's so funny.
The two and the wires.
Wires,
okay.
Sure.
And, uh, this, this security officerjust like, oh, okay, you don't have
like any equipment on you Sure.
(01:10:41):
Uh, do your thing.
He doesn't question me.
Nope.
He doesn't question you.
And yeah, he's like, I'm justgonna get back to my, uh, my little
thing and watch TV all night.
And, uh, so yeah, so you,you get down there and you're
going through these tunnels.
Orb of light,
orb of light as you go down there.
You, I had a lot of like littlethings written to just be like.
(01:11:02):
Drop these little hints aboutwhat's going on, but like, you have
really gone real left field on me.
I'm sorry.
So now you're just like, okay, uh, somebody got killed.
They, she made something.
I don't know what's going on.
Uh, yeah.
That, that didn't go well.
So you have no idea what this girl did,uh, to, to earn this or what happened.
But you go down into these tunnelsand you're not sure where it's leading
(01:11:26):
you, you haven't called your handler,so you're, you're just going in alone.
Should I do that?
I have no service in this.
Yeah.
Now that you're in thetunnels, you have no service.
Absolutely.
Perfect.
You start walking through thisunderground infrastructure and
(01:11:49):
why don't you roll me an intelligencecheck to one, navigate your way through,
and two, figure out what you see.
You have intelligence on.
Uh, you have advantage onthis because you're ready.
I passed.
Okay,
I got three.
You start to walk by,
at first, you're walking throughparking, garage looking cement,
(01:12:15):
rebar, infrastructure, nothing new.
And then it gets a littlenicer in a weird way.
You know you, where you parked, where you went in, and you know
you're heading in the direction ofthe state house, north of the mall.
You're underground.
And then all of a sudden there'slike a door and you see like
(01:12:38):
this security checkpoint on it.
But this door is much nicer than likethe garage infrastructure of the mall.
How are you gonna get by this?
Well, my old job, I used tosculpt things and I could see
how they scoped at this area.
You sculpted it, you sculptedice blocks, but sure, continue.
(01:13:04):
And I'm able to figure out howto unlock the door, not just
by using magic, but by my job.
By your, how did ice sculptinghelp you learn how to lock pick
mechanisms?
Also, this is like a, I, I think thisis like a state-of-the-art modern
fine.
I just use unlock spell.
(01:13:25):
Okay.
Sorry.
I just, I, I just can't imagine icesculptors being like also all really good.
Lock pick.
You don't have to roll.
This is a spell.
Do you wanna spend a kismet?
No.
Should have the moon.
Should
have
the moon and the magician.
This is a straight up failure.
I can't get in.
You're so good at this game, Lynn.
(01:13:48):
You try these, I
mean, what happens?
We don't have any more kismet.
I don't know.
Uh, actually it's, uh, let's check.
I like it.
Stressed me out to use it.
I don't know why
you regain it.
I think most people don't regain it.
And you, you get to regain it every turn.
Let's see here.
Nothing.
It doesn't say anything.
It doesn't say anythingabout when you lose kismet.
(01:14:10):
Can I use my lucky rabbit's foot?
You can use your lucky rabbit's footto resist the, actually, this is a
failure and, uh, it says does not work.
There is no misfire.
Your, your unlocked spelljust simply doesn't work.
You do need to find another way aroundthis, so it literally just doesn't work.
Okay.
(01:14:31):
I trans mutate.
Oh, there we go.
What kind of door is it?
Let's say it's a metal door.
Like, it's like a, it'slike a storm door, like a,
I trans mutate it into a spider's web.
Oh, I love that.
Okay.
I think that's a two, Ithink that's a two card flip
and then I catch it on fire.
Sure, sure, sure.
(01:14:51):
But
okay.
Yeah.
Uh, do you wanna spend any kismet?
Yes, I'm gonna spend two.
Okay, well good, because there'sone and two major arcana.
That's insane.
We flipped four in a row.
We have been shuffling this deck, Ipromise, four major arcana in a row.
But you spend two, which meansyou offset both of those.
(01:15:12):
So it, it seems to resist it actually.
And that's the thing is your unlockedspell resisted by this, your trans
mutate spell is being resisted by this.
This door is not a metal door, not asecurity door, not a panic room door
like the mundane people believe it is.
This is an arcane protected, and assoon as you start to unravel it and
(01:15:37):
try and transmute it, you actuallysee that there is like very intricate.
Glyphs and ruins and like a spell circledrawn into the metal of this door.
But you are able to undo it throughyour kismet through fate, and you
unravel it into spiderweb silk thatburns away, and you can walk through.
(01:15:59):
And on the other side of thisdoor, it's not concrete and rebar
and parking garage aesthetics.
It is state of the art
aliens,
deep ones.
It is like you see
glass walls that continue on down along hallway and to your left and right.
(01:16:27):
You can see through the glass into roomsthat are so varying different, but all
equally unsettling to sanity testing.
You see a room with a bed and surgicalequipment, but the blood on the
(01:16:48):
floor isn't red or even the darkblack of a stain of old human blood.
It, it's something else entirely aliens.
You see another room with monitors and TVscreens, but they're all showing static.
But when you walk by, you noticethat almost textures in the
static move and watch you aliens.
(01:17:11):
You see, you see a roomwith just a hole in it.
The ground is just a hole that goes down.
It's, it just draws you in.
It's unfathomably deep.
It's just uncomfortablelooking into this abyss.
(01:17:32):
There's another room with so many lightson that they're all angled in a way that
you'd think there's not a single shadow.
Possible in this room, and yetin one corner you can just see a
black mask just slowly wiggling ina corner of the walls and ceiling,
and it looks like it's in pain.
(01:17:55):
You continue on and see there's across section in one of the rooms where
you can almost see like somebody duginto this room, into the side of its
subterranean river, and it's flowingthrough this room like there's like a
metal or there's like a glass tube that'slike moving water through and you just
(01:18:15):
see a strange scaly tentacle figureswim by, and then they swim back and
they look at you, but you don't stop.
You just keep walking and you make yourway further and further until you are
under the Rhode Island State House, you find yourself in a cavernous room.
(01:18:40):
That appears to be theinverse of our state's dome.
On top of our state house building, you are standing on platforms and it
drops down below you, and in the centerof all of those platforms is a statue
that looks familiar to you, Lynn.
It is the golden statueon top of our state house.
(01:19:03):
He's holding like I think, what is it?
Like a spear and like an anchor?
Is that what it is?
Does he
have a name?
Does he have a name?
Yeah, I probably should know that.
Let's take a look.
Rhode Island State Housestatue, the independent man.
Oh, 11 feet tall, easilyover a thousand pounds.
(01:19:23):
Gold plated bronze statue, exceptthis is not a gold and bronze statue.
This is like a dark marble statue.
But there is a gold mask on the face.
They are holding similarly, an anchoron the ground, uh, like in their hand,
(01:19:49):
but they are also robe and somethingabout them is incredibly off-putting.
Does it look like it's alive?
Do you say anything as youapproach or do anything?
Do you want to inspect it?
I wanna use Maj hand andget the mask off its face.
(01:20:10):
That's a wonderful, I love that idea.
Uh, okay.
That's gonna be one click
card flip.
I want another mask
that's been
a collection.
Yeah.
You, you get, you don't get too close, but you conjure your wizard hand and
it moves forward through space to tryand touch the face of this statue.
Not spending a kismet.
Oh yeah.
Okay.
(01:20:31):
The four of Pentacles.
You are safe as yourwizard hand approaches it.
The statue turns its head and your wizardhand just dissipates and you hear a voice.
You are the one who killedmy cultist, my follower,
(01:20:55):
but the guy who wore this mask
that is not yours.
Look upon mine, it's and know
it's mine now.
Your mine now.
This city is mine now.
(01:21:15):
Providence is yellow.
We're going into combat.
Lynn,
it ain't yellow.
Roll a dex check as this thingis about to go nuts on you.
I,
okay, so it's gonna gofirst and I flip a wands.
(01:21:35):
So I made this boss, uh, technicallyit should not surprise anybody.
I, I literally made this.
This is Haster the king inyellow, a living statue of it.
So it's not the actual physical bodyof Haster coming from, uh, you know,
whatever dimension pastor is in, but.
It is a statue that is, isallowing him to inhabit it.
(01:21:57):
And so for wands, I wrote Chancefrom Osa Roll A Charisma Save, Lynn.
Ooh, I passed.
You actually succeed as you hear chance.
Uh, and it's saying the king ofProvidence, the true king, not
buddy z Yancy stirs because hewas the prince of Providence.
(01:22:20):
That's a, that's a joke.
Uh, all right.
So, but the king of providence, and it says The king of
providence stirs your turn.
You're up.
Okay.
I would like to trans mutatehis anchor into a snake.
Interesting.
Okay.
(01:22:41):
That's going to attack him.
Yeah.
Okay.
Sure.
Uh, and you actually see that thisstatue does begin in slowly moving.
Okay.
Uh, I think this is a two, uh,it's, it's an offensive spell,
but it's not immediately attackingunless you want it to attack him.
Yeah.
I want it to attack himlike his feet or something.
(01:23:02):
Uh, constrict him.
Yeah.
All right.
So I
would take his mask off,
so this
will be constrict Him is good.
This will be three.
Do you want to spend a kismet?
Yeah, I might as well.
Okay.
The five of wands got
one left.
The six of Pentacles and the Ace of Cups.
It succeeds and works as thisanchor turns into a giant snake.
(01:23:26):
It's heavy, you know, marble anchor justkind of flops down into this coiling mass.
And you actually see that.
This statue is in what will eventually belike a functioning fountain, and there's
actually like living wood that come up andlike become the spear that he's holding.
(01:23:46):
And as soon as this snake starts wrappingaround it, it like snaps that wood and
starts like cracking some of the marble.
But it's not enough yet.
So it is up.
And I flip the lovers, which is a major arcana.
So this is, this is brutal.
So for major arcana.
(01:24:07):
For who?
You or me?
For you.
Oh.
Well, I mean, he's a boss.
He's literally like, wait, can
I do the Lucky's rabbit foot?
That's for misfires or.
I'm just gonna keep asking, Iguess, effects of a spell actually.
Yeah, it says here.
Um, Ooh, interesting.
You know what?
If you use your lucky rabbit foot, I'llgive you advantage on your charisma.
(01:24:29):
Save, because it's goingto be a charisma save.
Yeah.
So use your lucky rabbit's footand it says the dome below you.
The mirror of the dome above opens, and at the bottom it opens like an eye
and just a yellow eye stares up at you.
And it stares.
Wasn't
too much
supernatural
yellow.
The yellow eye gazes upon the city.
(01:24:52):
This is roll against yourKismet to avoid notice.
Oh, so it's actually kismet.
So you have to roll twice and get a one.
You have to get a one.
I have to get a
one.
You have to get a one.
I got 11.
I got two ones.
Okay.
Will you fail?
Roll 2D six.
You're gonna roll on themagical mayhem table,
man.
(01:25:13):
I got a 14.
14 or 41 storm clouds flood the nearbyarea, or you slip forward in time.
An important clue is obtained, but a mind point is lost.
Oh, I love that one.
The, the, a yellow eye from OSA staresupon you, the real eye of haster.
(01:25:34):
The king in yellow from his otherrealm of OSA looks at you and it's
enough to give you information.
All you have to do is breakthis statue and you'll be fine.
But what is the, what is the clue?
What is the importantclue that you determine?
(01:25:58):
A weakness.
A weakness of some kind?
I don't have a weakness really in mind,so you're gonna have to tell me something.
What's, what's aro, what's avery Rhode Island weakness?
What are we talking about cannolis?
That's a, that's a u weakness.
(01:26:23):
How about, do you wanna roll for me on atable, a different table to get an idea?
Yeah.
I love that.
Okay.
So you see forward, animportant clue is obtained.
Why don't you roll me.
Why don't you roll me a another D 66,and this is gonna be either on the occult
accessories or arcane focus tables.
Something that's gonna give an idea aboutthe magic that we're gonna be using.
(01:26:44):
46,
46 or 64.
So, ooh, this works.
There's a blinged out golden scepter.
Maybe he's holding that.
Or there's also, another one that mightwork is a locked portable tabernacle
filled with profane holy trinkets.
(01:27:06):
That, that one.
So somewhere else in this room, you seethat there are things that need to be
used to fully bring haster into thisstatue and, and create it to be the living
flesh for their dark king in yellow.
This, this Eldridge.
Abomination this God that theywant to bring to Providence.
(01:27:27):
So if you can destroy those, you have a second way of
preventing this from happening.
Okay.
So what's your next action?
I am going to turn the snakenow into heavy, heavy, heavy
rock or metal or something.
I wanna crush it.
Okay.
Or now that it's wrapped around it.
(01:27:48):
Okay.
Like I'm gonna
Oh, just turn it into metal.
Yeah.
And just, okay.
Uh, okay.
So it sounds like another reshape reality.
I think this is gonna be another 3D six.
You don't have to roll.
Oh, but you leave that if you want.
Do you wanna spend your last kiss, man?
Yes.
That is a Knight of Wands, a twoof Wands and the King of Swords.
So you actually managed to do this.
(01:28:09):
And I think that the unintended benefitof this is by turning it into metal.
Not only are you crushing it right, andit is, and it is breaking more of this,
the weight of it is actually gr you hearthe groan of like the scaffolding of
like the, the floating architecture thatis holding this thing up in the middle.
Reverse stones,
like 95 River.
Yeah.
It's the, yeah, it's the 1 95 bridge.
(01:28:32):
It's,
it had its weakness.
Unsafe.
Yeah.
And yet we still use it so much every day.
Okay.
So you succeed on that.
And that's going to, uh,further break this thing down.
Both of you are kind of strugglingto finish this off, but, uh,
this eye just is looking at you.
And this, this statue istrying to r out of it.
We're gonna flip the king of cups.
(01:28:53):
The water at the base of the statueis beginning to spill out from the
weight of the metal that you've done.
And it's going to whip out at you.
We need a constitution save to avoiddisadvantage on your next role.
Four.
You succeed.
I succeed.
Wow.
And you only have a five in constitution,so that's a, that's a big success.
(01:29:14):
And you take the hit.
So go ahead and lose one life point as youtake a whip of water, but it's not enough.
As you get one more action.
What are you gonna do tofinish this thing off?
Can you finish this?
Can you finish this effigy, this statueto the king in yellow and, and break it.
So he does not come to rule providence.
(01:29:34):
I see the box of trinkets acrossthe room and I fireball it.
Yes.
Perfect.
As this
is ashes.
Ashes Pure.
Oh good.
That's the name of the spell thatwe came up with for your fire.
Spell.
Mm-hmm.
Sorry.
You never got to use your icesculpting, uh, chainsaw craziness.
But, uh, go ahead and fireball that.
Uh, I think that you don't have to roll.
Uh, do you want to, oh,you spent your last kismet.
(01:29:56):
I got,
no, here it goes.
The Queen of Wands.
So far safe, the two of swords.
So no matter what, you get it and
no.
Are you kidding me?
Dude, I can't
death.
No, no.
Oh my gosh.
On death.
No,
that's the second death.
The spell does not work, and a misfire occurs.
(01:30:18):
Lynn roll 2D six.
No, this makes me so weird.
Are you kidding me?
55.
It can only be 55.
Your brain grows and you now havea grotesque, oversized noggin.
But you can read minds.
(01:30:42):
That's great.
You
misfire
you this fire.
You go to burn the profaneholy trinkets of ster.
And the fireball goes towards it.
But it does not.
It does not burn what needs to be burned.
He's still up
and he flips Pentacles.
(01:31:04):
The gleaming golden mask.
Smiles at you.
Perfect.
Perfect.
You failed to burn hisarcane profane trinkets.
Make an intelligence check.
This is a big one, Lynn.
I secede.
Do you succeed?
Good.
Because otherwise you'd havelost your last mind point and
not been able to cast spells.
(01:31:26):
He smiles at you andsays, you can't stop me.
They sent an apprentice to stop the king.
What will you do?
I'm gonna use this water and transmutate it into a chainsaw and
chop those trinkets in the past.
(01:31:46):
Yes.
Or
chop this head one or the other.
You just said that.
I thought, I thought the lastone was gonna be what you needed.
I love it.
You freeze the ice
and I get a advantage.
Absolutely.
Get a Well, you don't need to.
You know what, actually, yeah.
Roll down.
Uh, this is gonna be a two-parter.
We're gonna flip two cards for the ice.
Okay.
And then we're going to.
(01:32:07):
We use decks to carve this.
It's one major arcata.
We did slip the sun.
So there's, so there's no, no.
So there's a complication, butit's not the end of the world.
You do the spell still works withone, so you freeze all of that
ice around him and you pull out achainsaw from somewhere, I guess.
(01:32:28):
No, a translate.
The water
rising.
You translate the water that's rising.
Oh, into, into an ice chainsaw.
Yeah.
Roll decks.
You have advantage.
So stressed.
No,
this is fine.
It, it could just
be you succeeded on the spell.
It could just
be a turd.
(01:32:49):
You succeed.
Yeah.
That's, that's what it is, is yousucceeded on the spell to create a
chainsaw and then you start hacking.
I thought into, uh, the, I was working on
it forever.
I thought it was gonnabe something beautiful.
Yeah.
And, and instead, like, asyou cut into it, uh, the.
Effects of osa just warpit and it becomes terrible.
And that's gonna be enough todestroy the statue to the point
(01:33:12):
where it can no longer be used.
But then you stand back and look atyour ice sculpture that you've made.
And it is, it just looks terrible.
It's so bad.
It's so bad.
And the, the, the pieces of thegolden mask that it was wearing still
somehow feel like they're watchingyou, but you unknown to everyone
(01:33:34):
else in the city out at water, fireout at a rave party, in a warehouse,
enjoying their nights, doing whatever.
Have no idea that you justsaved the City of Providence,
all for a $300 weekly paycheck.
Get it, penny Now, penny Black.
You have successfully.
(01:33:54):
Completed a Does my
phone ring?
Yes.
This is exactly when your phone ringsand your handler is on the line.
What do you say?
It's taken care of And I hang up.
And you hang up.
That's it.
Uh, you get to choose two.
So normally if you were playingthis game, you can choose two
advancements at the end of this.
Do you want pay raise?
Yeah, I do.
You, you get an extra ahundred dollars a week.
(01:34:15):
Oh, nice.
And you can gain an acquaintacquaintance, you can increase
one of your attributes by one.
You can heal an injuryor soothe the madness.
Or you can, um, you can see ifyou've mastered any of your spells.
So that's pretty cool.
Oh, that's what the littleboxes next to your spells are.
Once you've cast it 10times, you can try and.
Basically master it and that letsyou discard any major arcana.
(01:34:38):
So there is like, there islike, I like a level up ability.
That's cool.
So like you can, you can actually playthis game more than just a one shot.
And I do think that the level Up thingsare really cool 'cause like gaining
acquaintances just basically gets youmore chances to like succeed at certain
things or call in people to help withcertain checks and stuff like that.
So that was Dick Wizards and alot of Providence lore, but not
(01:35:02):
Kullu, Providence, lores, just likeliterally modern providence lore.

go get yourself a coffee milk.
Yeah.

distribution, whatever, but if you canfind a way, get yourself some autocrat.
Mm-hmm.
Coffee syrup.
Put it in your milk.
Enjoy a taste of Rhode Island.
(01:35:23):
It's the best
with a wiener on the side.
Yeah.
Well you're not gonna be able tolike get a wiener, uh, across the
world, but I do hope you do geta wiener and get dick wizards.
