Have you ever had one of those holiday moments that instantly transports you back to your own childhood—the kind that reminds you why traditions matter in the first place? In today’s Memos in the Margins episode, I’m recording live from a totally spontaneous movie adventure turned date day with the kids (complete with potty break commentary), and I’m sharing some reflections from our Thanksgiving week. We started a few brand-new traditions this year and they stirred up so much nostalgia for me. It made me realize how deeply I want to create those same pockets of magic, coziness, and connection for my own kids—and how much joy there is in being the gatekeeper of the memories they’ll carry into adulthood.

I’m also sharing a little Black Friday story from the drive-thru that reminded me how rhythms create space for moments we never could’ve planned for. The truth is, the only reason I could pause, lean in, and embrace that moment for my husband was because our life rhythms gave us the margin to do it. If you’ve been craving more intentional traditions, more presence, or more freedom to savor simple family moments, I think this episode will gently remind you that rhythm creates room—and that you get to shape the story your family will remember.

I pray this episode encourages you!

Hugs!
