Good afternoon, Hoyas! It's Monday, September 8, 2025, and here's what's happening around Georgetown University. Over the summer, Georgetown made significant strides in campus development and sustainability. The former Henle Village has been transformed into a new apartment-style residence hall, set to open this fall. This facility will accommodate juniors and seniors, featuring 740 beds, in-unit kitchens, wellness spaces, and shared green areas. The project aims for LEED Platinum certification, emphasizing sustainability and efficiency. Additionally, the McCourt School of Public Policy unveiled its new home at 125 E St. NW, a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 150,000 square feet, including 20 classrooms, a 400-seat auditorium, and a rooftop terrace with views of the U.S. Capitol. Georgetown has announced a three-year pilot program to accept the Common Application, starting in August 2026 for the Fall 2027 entering class. This initiative aims to build a more inclusive and socioeconomically diverse student community. The university will continue to accept its current application alongside the Common App. The Georgetown sailing team has released its 2025 fall schedule, featuring 15 regattas across the East Coast, including a home regatta hosted at Georgetown. The season kicked off this past weekend with the Laser South Qualifier and Navy Women's regattas at the U.S. Naval Academy. In field hockey, the Hoyas opened their 2025 campaign with a pair of neutral-site games in Towson, Maryland, facing Davidson and Appalachian State. The team will continue its season with upcoming matches against Sacred Heart and Lock Haven. Men's golf began their fall season on September 5 at the Rod Myers Invitational hosted by Duke University. The team is set to compete in five events this fall, including hosting the 41st Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate at Echo Lake Country Club in October. Women's soccer has also kicked off their season, opening with a home game against Old Dominion on August 14. The team has a challenging schedule ahead, featuring several opponents who made the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service is celebrating its 10th anniversary this semester. The Fall 2025 Fellows class brings decades of experience in politics, law, public policy, public service, and journalism to the Hilltop. Students will have the opportunity to engage with the Fellows in discussion groups, case studies, and one-on-one conversations throughout the semester. For those planning for the future, Georgetown is hosting a two-night educational course titled "Retirement Planning University" on September 16 and 17. The sessions will cover investment strategies, estate planning, tax planning, and more. The event will be held at the John R. Thompson Jr. Intercollegiate Athletic Center. That's all for today's update. Stay tuned for more news and events happening around campus. Hoya Saxa!

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
