(00:23):
Welcome to the very first episode of The
Mindful Agent.
I'm excited to be your host as we
dive into something a little different than your
real estate podcast.
You might be wondering, what's this podcast all
about?
Well, at its core, The Mindful Agent is
a space where real estate success meets health,
mindfulness, and personal growth.
We're going to explore how blending wellness with
business can help you thrive, not just in
(00:45):
your career, but also in life.
If you've ever felt that the fast-paced
world of real estate sometimes pulls you away
from your well-being, like I have, or
if you're curious about how mindfulness can actually
help you grow, both personally and professionally, you're
in the right place.
We're going to explore topics like finding inner
peace while navigating stressful sales, balancing customer service
(01:07):
with self-care, and using mindfulness practices to
enhance your relationships with clients and even yourself.
Now, I'd like to share a bit about
my own journey and why this topic is
so important to me.
Back in 2014, I was diagnosed with ulcerative
colitis after experiencing debilitating gut pain.
I had always had an irritable stomach, but
(01:28):
this was the time I remember being scared
for my health, for my life.
It was a turning point, and it spurred
me into a profound journey of health discovery.
At the time, I was juggling a small
business with my wife and working non-stop
as a licensed agent.
I was so driven that nothing could slow
me down.
(01:48):
I had goals.
Nothing was stopping me until my health did.
I found myself hospitalized twice and bedridden for
six months.
The illness was overwhelming.
I was going to the toilet almost hourly,
each episode more painful than the last.
I had no choice but to stop working.
I mean, what was I going to do?
(02:10):
That brought immense financial and mental stress for
both me and my wife.
It was one of the most most challenging
periods of my life, but that's where the
story takes a positive turn.
I decided to embrace both eastern modalities and
western medicine.
I changed my diet multiple times.
(02:32):
I took every test imaginable, and I was
on a lot of different medications with potentially
harmful side effects, just trying to figure a
way out.
I delved into meditation, yoga, mental health exercises
to find acceptance and find the peace within
the disease.
I learned about the mind-body connection.
(02:53):
I began visualizing health down to the cellular
level.
Remarkably, over time, I was able to heal,
and I've been virtually asymptomatic for over seven
years now.
These practices didn't just heal my body, they
transformed my entire approach to life and business.
I became acutely conscious of my moods and
(03:15):
feelings, both in my gut and my mind.
I learned to keep myself balanced, not let
stress take over.
This newfound mindfulness became a cornerstone in how
I operate professionally.
So why am I telling you all this?
Because I believe that health is wealth.
You can't be your best in business if
(03:37):
you're not your best self.
Unplugging and taking time for yourself isn't a
luxury, it is a necessity.
I've learned to shut down my laptop and
phone every day and take full days off
on most Sundays.
I've also embraced delegating tasks that don't bring
me joy or that cause unnecessary stress.
This journey taught me that by putting myself
(03:58):
first and prioritizing my well-being, I could
show up more fully for my clients, my
team, and my loved ones.
And that's the essence of what I hope
to share with you through this podcast.
Now, here's what you can expect from The
Mindful Agent.
Each month, we'll release two episodes.
One, a shorter five to ten minute deep
(04:18):
dive into a business topic related to mindfulness
or philosophy.
It's a quick reset or perspective shift you
can apply directly to your real estate business.
Two, a longer 45 to 60 minute episode
where I'll have in-depth conversations with guests,
agents, brokers, entrepreneurs, coaches, therapists, fitness enthusiasts,
(04:40):
health experts.
We'll discuss everything from growth strategies to mindfulness
practices, exploring how personal transformation can enhance professional
success.
Expect to hear from professionals who found their
own unique ways to integrate wellness into their
busy successful lives.
And we'll share practical tools, inspiring stories, tips
you can use in your daily lives, and
(05:01):
maybe even some challenges that encourage you to
integrate wellness into your life a bit more.
Before we wrap up this intro episode, I'd
love for you to do something.

I'm genuinely excited to embark on this journey
together.
And stay tuned for upcoming episodes where we're

agents to elevate professionalism in the wake of
the NAR settlement.
(05:44):
Plus, don't miss an exclusive conversation with Tom
Huser, broker of Magenta Real Estate, as he
shares how his health journey led him to
give up the sport he was most passionate
about and seek alternative therapies.
You won't want to miss that.
Until then, take a moment today to pause,
breathe, and focus on something that brings you
(06:07):
peace.
