without her, I wouldn't be able to do this. I wouldn't even be here, right?
I've obviously known her all my life.

Yeah. So, yeah. Introduce yourself.
A high podcast world.

(03:26):
I'm Lynette, a.k.a. MomTranada on social media. You got a social media account?
Instagram. Instagram? And Facebook. And Facebook. Okay. Anything else out there floating out?

(03:49):
Who you calling overseas? WhatsApp. Yeah.
That's a little. All right. Yeah, sometimes it was. Well, yeah.
I don't have that other thing, though.
Well, first and foremost, thank you for being here.
You're welcome. Thank you for taking time out of your motherly day and work

into it man first and foremost how many
kids you got four name them go
jermaine diamond and nuzzle what's
wrong with you i'm just making sure just testing i'm just
i'm just i'm just testing and christian is that i'm testing
i'm testing well first and foremost me and you are 20 years apart 19 in a month

(05:09):
okay so at 58 what are you doing how are you feeling what's going on talk talk
to me i mean i'm your son but you can tell You can talk to me.
What you got going on? Life is good. 58.
Feeling great. You look good. You look good. Thank you. I try a little something.
You know, still keep it 100, right?

(05:32):
All right. With the lingo. Yeah. I mean, you know, I'm happy. Okay.
Having fun, hanging out.
So so at 58 how do
you in your eyes how do you view your
four kids and also me having a son you
know having a grandson like what is what does that feel like it's a lot you

(05:55):
guys are the best right and you keep me going and you just grew up you know
so fast y'all you know all four you guys just grew up so fast and now grandbabies.
I got two of them. Did you know you? KJ.
KJ's 12. And Zaza.

(06:16):
18 months. He won.
He's still in months. Yeah.
I mean, you know, it's exciting. This part of life.
It's crazy. I talk to my friends that I went to high school with,

(06:37):
and we just trip out that we're at this age now.
So it's crazy. You guys all make me proud.
That's needed as a mommy. Of course.
Every parent wants their kids to be successful and whatever,
and be happy in whatever they do.

(06:59):
58, can you- Why do you keep saying at 58? Oh, my fault.
I mean, I'm not ashamed of getting twisted up Okay, you're right As of today
As of today Right now What's one of the things Or a couple things that you enjoyed,
at this time for yourself for yourself for

(07:21):
yourself freedom freedom okay and you can look at
that in a lot of different ways freedom successfully at work
you know i'm able to do more different things because i've been in this field
a minute now what and just for the people to know what is it that you do in
your residence services uh
we provide services to families in programming for children underserved.

(07:47):
You're for the people. Absolutely.
We feed families. They got to eat. They really do. We really do.
That's part of what I do. I think right now I mostly enjoy just freedom.
You kids will always be kids, but I don't have to worry about daycare.

(08:11):
You know those little things that you have
to worry about now and i can't tell you i enjoy i enjoy being a la la we don't
do the grandma thing right right i'm a la la so there's no the word grandma
doesn't exist grandma that's what i am but you want to la la is also what i,

(08:32):
actually speak i mean i guess we get all the change in the name you got more
tattoos than me. How many tattoos you got?
I need to know this. You got a,
neck tattoo. You got a neck tattoo with a star on it.

(08:52):
And then you got our names, right?
You tell it all. She got our names on her arm. I do. Pretty cool. Oh, wait.
I'm not that added up. I got. But.
It was fun. That was liberating. It hurt.

(09:17):
It was liberating. After being a mommy since I was 19. 19.
And being married to somebody's son since I was 19.
Right, right. Two different sons. But, you know what I mean?
Now I am free to just enjoy.
And I am.
On purpose. On purpose. On purpose. Like, intentional.

(09:40):
Yeah. and laugh about stuff and just have a great time and just try to be peaceful. Thank God.
Yeah. Listen, man, one thing I would definitely say that I've learned from you
is, you know, life is short and just enjoy yourself. You have to.
You got to enjoy your peace.
You have to. You have to. Treat others kind.
Do your best. Treat people how you want to be treated and, you know, take care of you.

(10:04):
You know what I'm saying? You have to. I will say it. You can't help anybody
else if you're not good yourself. Yeah.
Oh, Newport News, Virginia. To the advertising.
The stack. Oh, wow. You know what's coming from Newport News?
It's the Saturday Public Tech.
AI. The real AI, not the fake AI y'all coming out with.

(10:27):
Okay. You know what I'm saying? Artificial intelligence. You talking the real
AI. Not artificial intelligence.
I hear it. We all go out. That's what it is. That's what it is. Oh, wow.
Shout out to Newport News, not for this stock. You know what I'm saying?
Yes, shout out to the family in Newport News.
All my cousins. Shout out to my family. Everybody, man. I love you guys.

(10:47):
The Langfords. The Langfords, everybody.
Shout out to Mane. Yep. Everybody, man. Yeah.
How was it? How was... We don't got to stay too long on it, but I know you briefly
talked about this as far as I remember growing up.
But how was Newport News for you growing up in Newport News?

(11:09):
You know, everything is in hindsight. Right.
Now I know it was the best thing. I didn't realize that then.
Right. You know, we just always had a good time and didn't know what we didn't have.
Right. Right. So there was no missing anything because we didn't know. Right.

(11:29):
Whereas with social media now, kids are able to see, you know,
cars that nobody could possibly buy. Oh, I see what you're saying.
So you only knew what you knew versus your social media.
It was beautiful growing up. It was beautiful growing up because we were a cross
between where Newport News is located. It's a ship building city.

(11:50):
Yeah. So we're, and it's surrounded by military.
So you got the army, you got the Navy, and you got the Air Force.
So it was always a hodgepodge, right, of people.
So, you know, went to school with everybody, seen everybody,
you know. And I just think Newport News is just that place that's sort of in
the middle. You're not city.
And you're definitely not country. Okay. You're a little bit country, but. But not.

(12:14):
Yeah. We were stylish because, you know, to go back, because of my history,
when Blacks, we all migrated from the South, right?
A lot of the Northern states were called Northern states, but they really were
Southern states, right?
Virginia, and you would migrate to Baltimore. So that's where we got our roots here In Baltimore.

(12:38):
Learn something new every day This is where
Grandma Boo Sister And then
she had your granddad Right She had her daughter Maybel Then Maybel had your
granddad And your granddad And me So they lived in Baltimore And would come

(12:59):
back and forth to Virginia So Baltimore kind of Was always where we were going to end up
i just feel like that it's it's pretty cool no i didn't again i didn't know
that story yeah that's pretty cool so you mentioned the army and everything
you were in the military i'm a military baby shout out with with evany as well
shout out to evany uh military brat brats my other sister.

(13:24):
How was well one what made you go into the military and how was the military
for you for for the time that you was there. So what made me go into the military?
If you know me, you know, my grandmother was straight.
I could not do nothing. And I mean, Nathan. Okay. Yeah. Nothing, y'all. Nothing.

(13:47):
Nothing. So I was, you know, at school. Right. And I was like,
you know, a recruiter came to school on career day.
Selling you all these dreams. And I'm like, man, all I could think about was
getting away from my grandmother.
Yeah. Her rules. That's what I thought. So, you know, a whole time she was saving
me from, you know, nonsense.

(14:07):
But, you know, again, in hindsight, you don't appreciate those things until later.
But, you know, I went in the military for that.
But I was also fascinated with everybody, you know, on one accord, on one page.
Because they showed us this film and I was just intrigued with it. And I think.
Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah. It was a film. Like reason to join the military.

(14:30):
Yes. Yeah. Okay. It was propaganda, you know, just like Nike flashes on your
phone and your bike, you know, same thing we did, same thing we did,
but with, you know, the military, you know, it was a way out.
If you didn't want to go to college, you went in the military and it turned
out to be one of the best decisions because it not only taught you discipline, right?

(14:52):
It gave you an opportunity, girl from Newport News, to be in Germany.
Yeah when I was born you know what I'm saying Newenberg shout out to my Germans
I don't speak the language though but shout out to the Germans first born this
one in Newenberg, Germany so yeah it was it was.
That's why I'm in the military. What was the second question?

(15:14):
Because I was like, how did it feel like when you was in the military, once you was in there?
Liberating. Like, yeah. So was it everything that they told you or it was like
once you signed that dotted line, it was like.
So it was everything that they told you as it relates to the basic stuff.
People were yelling at you, but nobody can ever tell you how you're going to feel.

(15:35):
Right. you're you're certainly suddenly put
together with 60 some females
from different areas with different levels
of securities and insecurities right so
immediately i found myself the funniest yeah
the coach okay the
support yeah you know like come on girl they

(15:58):
can't do nothing yeah yeah you're just yelling yeah you know so i think that
i was put in there for that position to kind of push people through to help
myself so it was one of the best decisions i don't know about now though but
you never know i think it's a bit you know it was a good deal.
During those times in the 80s when we were really just trying to find ourselves right,

(16:22):
crackhead and come on the scene yet so we
weren't subjected to drugs and you know all those
things we saw what we call winos we
didn't see drug addicts yeah nobody got
killed you know what i mean especially not children
if if a child died it was because of a sickness or something so to see all that

(16:44):
now is sad that you kids have to go through those things yeah that's why looking
back in hindsight newport news was the safest place yeah growing up no i mean
you're absolutely Absolutely right.
I mean, because of social media in today's world, like we have so much access
and we see so much negativity on the screens, the big screens,

(17:06):
the little screens, you know, everywhere where.
Some people, back in the day, didn't see it until they were 16, 18.
A lot of kids are seeing them at five, six. Once they can understand what they're
seeing, they can kind of make it out.
It's weird, man. The world is, we're in a strange place in today's society. We are.

(17:31):
But let's get down to some real questions.
Let me bring out my pad. You know what I'm saying? Let's see.
I gotta get my nails done.
Don't do that. Don't do that. I need a color too.

(17:51):
If you had a superpower, what would it be? Mind reader. Why mind reader?
I know really what people are thinking instead of guessing.
You just never know. I think that would be one. A superpower would be a, or a shapeshift.

(18:13):
Shapeshift to like other people or to objects? Like you want to be a lamp?
It's a fly on the wall. Yes. Yes. All those things.
Thought about that. I'd have to think about that. Come back to me on that.
What's the, what's the funniest thing I did as a, as a top? It wasn't funny. It was not funny.

(18:37):
Germaine was that little boy that's when
you should put your picture right here right there back here
i was yeah so the funniest thing if
you want to talk funny so the funniest thing we were having a cookout yeah
and germaine was about two right about two i guess we were taking too long and
the little grill was there because we were fresh in the military and so you

(18:58):
know we had the little grill yeah that's full of people you know and what do
you do because we're taking too long you grab the chicken off the grill. Was the chicken done?
Yes, the chicken was done, but it was sitting there in the aluminum foil.
So why? So my question, and I believe there is a picture somewhere.
Yeah, you're sitting there eating the chicken. We took too long to give it to you.

(19:19):
I was waiting for it to either cool off or give you a hot dog.
I don't even know what was going on.
But we turned back around and this little baby, two years old,
is sitting there with chicken off the grill.
So my first of my question is, why was it grilled that low in the first place?
I told you we ain't had no money.

(19:40):
I told you we ain't had no money. Cooking the chicken. The grill.
Grill on the grass? That was about like that. Like the side of the table? Yeah.
Oh, wow. Yeah. That was it. You want to show a picture of that? But yeah.
All right, chicken off the grill. That's me. Chicken off the grill.
That was one of the funniest things. That was me.

(20:02):
If you could pick an actress to play you in a movie, who would it be?
Oh, to play me? To play you. Your life, your everything.
Who's out there right now that you think that can play you? Taraji. I need to go say that.
Let me explain something. Taraji P.
Henson? Yes. Taraji P. Henson. Get it right. Okay.

(20:24):
So Taraji has a way of just being her.
Yeah. And you can tell it's her.
And you can tell when it's not her. So when they take these acting parts, right?
You have to embody the role but you can't embody what you can't embody right cookie lion.

(20:46):
And yeah i was gonna say i didn't i didn't i
didn't finish the whole show but i yeah the stuff that i saw
was like yo she yeah she should have worn like a bunch
of a bunch of stuff yeah yeah i even wrote
a excerpt that of
course was a dude named daniel what's his name whoever the
the producer of the show at the time yeah but he

(21:09):
didn't listen but it would have been hot it was during the time what
was it what was this it was during the time of the rap game
and you know how every week they had a series or you
know you knew something was gonna go warm right right
right so this was mine so when it
came on when this episode come on cookie is
at cadillac records or whatever over the head yeah and

(21:32):
everybody's like what are you doing and she
was like you know he coming with all them damn kids you know he comes with all
them kids but we're trying to promote positivity so i have a whole bunch of
damn kids so yeah she's getting balloons and all this stuff yeah right and everybody
and the rather all the family stuff is going okay and then all of a sudden here comes J.D.

(21:56):
Deetranada which is Diamond the baby girl,
you know all the kids flage you know all the
rap game kids just tearing up being unruly yeah
but when they got in the studio of course they
killed yeah and it was like a big um say empire was doing like a big promotion
thing for kids oh okay i i could i could i see what you thought because there

(22:19):
was no reason they wouldn't have had you know yeah because the rap game was
hot in there yeah you know so yeah shout out to everybody on the right game
shout out season three catch up on Hulu,
Amazon Prime. Catch a glimpse of me on that last episode. You know what I'm saying?
It was on there. But speaking of TV and movies, you were on a couple of TV shows.

(22:40):
We're not talking about credits.
We're not talking about credits. Let's talk about the credits real quick before
I go back to the questions.
So start off, like, go to one of your movie things. What was the latest one?
So the latest thing I did was a little background work on...
I see how your voice changed already. Yeah. A little background work.
Yeah, I was called numerous times. Right, right.

(23:03):
It was Beyond the City on HBO.
HBO Max, right. Yeah. It was a very triggering movie, but I was glad to be a
part of it because in real life, I remember where I was.
They shut down transportation and the children gathered at Mondawmin in protest.

(23:25):
Tested freddie gray that was a serious serious thing
so when i had an opportunity to be on set and just stand around and saw freddie
gray's family and you saw some of the other actors that really you know got
the feeling of what people felt on that day and it only was one take,

(23:47):
for the riot scene yeah everybody was so triggered yeah if that you know what
i mean and so So, again, I enjoy working on that.
I enjoy the casting call early in the morning.
I enjoy standing in line because you have to wear certain things.
I enjoy them going, nope, nope, nope, nope.

(24:09):
Put this on, put this on, put this on. I remember you were, when you were doing
it, I was like, huh? And you sent me this article.
These pictures of your outfits because you had to dress like like a
protester and he's longer like i was a i was
a gangster gangsta yeah listen when she
she killed this she had the whole fit yeah and everything

(24:30):
i was like let my mama go wow she is doing background
work and that was doing covet i was
doing kobe yeah yeah they subjected us to covet
tests every single day they paid
us right every time and then you
had to have a test before casting yeah
or before right because back so i'm saying

(24:53):
you could not have covered today and test
tomorrow and you can't be on the set got you guys so
that was that was crazy i couldn't
believe i was there you know at at the
time 56 just you know all my
life now i'm in front of a camera a camera you
know where you kids yeah i'll beat

(25:14):
me to it you know i was good feeling i've been on tv
is is definitely that was a that was a
crazy moment as a mom seeing your kids you know you guys have a way now where
you know you can make a movie on the phone and you know but you don't get that
that same feeling so that was another well I mean yeah being on TV with the

(25:35):
lights the camera the people production producers,
like a lot of stuff so seeing it for the first time,
you know with my sister.
It was it was it was surreal because like first you get there it's like oh wow wow,
then you're there for another week oh wow now you're there for two weeks oh

(25:56):
we gotta do this it's work it's work so we get we get used to it yeah Yeah.
All right. So my next question is, what's your favorite memory?
Me and you. Do you have a favorite memory of me and you?
I have a lot of favorite memories, mostly when you were when you were.

(26:18):
Well, no, because we have a great time now.
I thought it was funny. Y'all one time we was in the mall and I had Diamond
and Nuzzle and they was babies.
And we were in the mall to get Jermaine an outfit or something.
And these ladies thought Jermaine was my man.
Oh do you remember that they were sucking their

(26:39):
teeth and looking around and i think i
had to be like 15 he was like 15 16
you had on your jersey the big baggy clothes you
look so young i mean students even to this day you still look young but even
then oh yeah okay i remember that i everybody thought it was like oh is that
your girlfriend no that's my mom well remember we went to little key show shout

(27:01):
out to little key we went to his birthday party yeah it was like Like, come on,
Platinum J, you and your lady. I said, that's my child.
Cut it out. Yeah. But yeah, you know, fun stuff like that. And we would,
we would laugh about it. That was crazy.
I would say the coolest, the coolest moment for me was when we first moved out here.

(27:21):
I, you put me in a Halloween costume contest at Sub-Zero and the mall.
And I won first place because it was like last minute. Like to me, that was just like dope.
Looks like yeah i look like sub-zero sub-zero for more than
combat like you know and the kids were fascinated with him
yeah it was crazy yeah it was he was

(27:42):
uh dorothy that year okay yeah was she
dorothy or was she cleopatra i can't remember i'm
gonna say cleopatra she'll correct this and that's another thing about jermaine
he he's always into everything like he's a party guy he had all the friends
you know he always want to be sharp even when he was in kindergarten you know

(28:02):
His clothes is always very important.
So to see him carry that on now is a little shocking.
It's true it's very true nah I appreciate it I haven't learned from the best
learned from the best hey,
it's right before snowstorm y'all I'm trying to hurry up because it's about

(28:23):
the snow and ball couple more questions couple more questions alright is there
is there one is there one thing that you,
wanted to learn that you didn't get a chance to learn like your whole life like
play the piano guitar like is there something right now that you always wanted
to learn yeah I wish I knew other languages.
Okay. How fascinating is it

(28:46):
to be able to communicate in a different language? Yeah. That's, you know.
Well, like which specific language? So especially Spanish. Especially Spanish.
Spanish, that's true. But Latin and Greek.
Because a lot of the history. Yeah.
A lot of the, and because, you got to know why I would want,
I choose those because a lot of the ancient texts in Greek.

(29:10):
Oh okay and that's respect yeah okay i get that
okay that makes sense that's pretty cool i because we don't know
what we don't know that's we ain't gonna talk about look at
that it's facts we're gonna talk about what i want you to
i would say for me it would be to you know learn
a little bit more spanish you know besides like the basic
stuff you know all i come on stars like stuff like that my

(29:31):
numbers is only
my comments but but i
think mine's probably outside of spanish i think would be like chinese chinese
yeah just because i also eat a lot of chinese food but we do we do we love chinese

(29:51):
we do two more questions and i promise i'll let you i'll let you go all right My grandson's in here.
If you could have dinner with a historical figure, who would it be and why?
Do they have to be historical?
No, I don't got to be. I was just trying to make it more deep. If dinner?

(30:13):
Yeah, or just hang out. If you had a date. If I could hang out with anybody,
it would be Whitney. Whitney Houston? Yes.
I'll always love you. The reason I love Whitney is because she had all the beauty,
and that's all people saw.
And through it all, she sang from her soul, you know?

(30:40):
And it was just her story, just her, oh, she a regular person,
you know what I mean? Yeah. So I would always want to...
Talk to Whitney or Aretha. You know. I was lucky enough to talk to Lauren.
I saw Lauren. Oh, Lauren Hill. Lauren Hill. Shout out to Lauren Hill.
Man, first off, you used to play that freaking album.
The Miseducation. How many times? Yeah, I was educated, all right?
