(01:48):
Are you ready for this?
Let's do it, mama.
I'm so glad you're here today becausewe're diving into something I know so
many of us have felt at some point (01:56):
that
sense of something's off in our body,
but not having the words to explain it.
Almost like our body is speaking a wholedifferent language we don't understand.
Kind of like "it's all Greek to me".
If you've ever felt likethat, you're not alone.
(02:17):
Today, we're talking about why your body'ssymptoms matter, why it can be confusing
to understand them at first, and howyou can rebuild trust with your body
and with God's design for your health.
Your body is always speaking to you.
It's not working against you,and it's not failing you.
(02:40):
God designed our bodies with thisamazing ability to communicate when
something's off, when something needs ourattention, or adjustment, or just support.
Think about it, symptoms like fatigue, headaches, digestive issues, anxiety.
These are not random punishments.
They're messages.
(03:01):
They are ways that your body isinviting you to lean in, to ask
questions and to seek healing.
But when we don't know how to understandthose signals, or we've been taught to
ignore them, it's really easy to feellike our body is just broken, right?
I know that I have felt that way at times.
(03:22):
Like I just looked at my body and I waslike, "why can't you just do what you're
supposed to?" But the underlying problemwas that I didn't know how to steward
my body well either, and I wasn't givingthe things that it needed to thrive.
But when I was stuck in the in-betweenposition of knowing that something was
(03:44):
off and not yet knowing what to do, thereal problem was that I just didn't
understand what my body was telling me.
But let me tell you, friend, you are not broken.
Your body is speaking andthat's actually good news.
Now, let's be real.
If your body is trying to talk toyou, why does it feel so confusing?
(04:09):
Why does it sometimes feellike you're trying to decode
hieroglyphics with no Rosetta Stone?
A big part of that is the messages we'vebeen given by the culture around us.
We're told things like, "that'sjust aging", "oh, that's just your
hormones", "welcome to motherhood, exhaustion is your new normal".
(04:30):
And then if you finally get up thecourage to go to a doctor, it's not
uncommon to be told "your labs arenormal", or "you're probably just
stressed", or even "you're fine".
But when your lived experiencedoesn't match what you're being
told, it's deeply disorienting.
(04:50):
You start to doubt yourself, you start tofeel a little crazy, and worst of all, you
start to distrust your own body's signals.
But here's what I want youto hear today: God did not
design your body , deceive you.
He designed it to guide you.
(05:11):
Your symptoms aren't betrayals, they'reinvitations, and you can learn to
understand what your body is saying.
Now, learning to listen to yourbody doesn't happen overnight.
In fact, it's a lot like trying tounderstand a toddler learning how to talk.
Have you ever had a two or 3-year-oldtrying to tell you something and you're
(05:34):
just standing there blinking thinking,"what on earth did you just say?" And
you know, they're looking at you likeyou better understand me, but you don't.
And the nervousness kicks in.
But guess what?
Guess who knows what they're saying?
The mom.
That's right, mama.
You know what they're saying!
(05:55):
Even when no one else does, right?
Because you've spent time observing them.
You've picked up the context clues.
You've guessed wrong a few times, andthen eventually you guessed right.
You practice learning theirlanguage and you got better at it.
You know, when we're hearing ourchild say, "Baba", it might seem like
(06:19):
they're asking for their bottle, buteventually we learned that maybe they're
asking for their blanket instead.
But once we know the code, then weknow how to communicate with them.
Your body is the same way.
At first, it might feellike a lot of guesswork.
It might feel like trial anderror, and it might feel just
(06:40):
downright frustrating sometimes.
But over time, as you start noticingpatterns and listening with curiosity
instead of judgment, you'll get betterand better at understanding, " when my
body does this, it's asking for this".
You don't have to understandeveryone else's toddler.
(07:03):
Just your own, right?
And you don't have tobecome a medical expert.
You just need to learn the beautiful, unique language of your body.
So how do you start to rebuild that trustand learning the language of your body?
Let's walk through a fewsimple but powerful steps.
(07:25):
First, observe patterns.
Start noticing how your body respondsto different foods, different
stressors, and even different seasons.
Maybe start a gentle symptom journal.
Nothing complicated, just littlenotes like "felt energized after
lunch today", or "super bloatedafter dinner last night", or "anxiety
(07:50):
spiked after that crazy busy day".
Over time, patterns will emergeand you'll start to get clues about
what your body is telling you.
Number two, get curiousinstead of critical.
It's so easy to think things like,"why is my body failing me?" But
(08:11):
instead, try asking, "what might mybody need from me today?" Curiosity
opens that door to healing whilecriticism really just slams it shut.
Number three, give yourself grace.
You are learning a newlanguage and it takes time.
(08:33):
You're going to have moments whereyou guess wrong, and that's okay.
Every misstep teaches yousomething valuable about your
body's rhythms, so don't give up.
Give yourself some grace to figureit out and be patient with yourself.
Number four, partner withsupport if you need it.
Sometimes it's helpful to have acoach or a guide alongside you.
(08:56):
That's why when women join my LiveHealthy Mama course, or when we work
together in one-on-one coaching, one of the first things we do is
a full body symptom questionnaire.
We start gathering those clues indecoding the messages your body's
been trying to send you, so you'renot stuck guessing in the dark.
We start to figure it out togetherand it gives you a headstart.
(09:21):
It gives you a shortcutto figuring things out.
It's not always going to be foolproof, but it is so much easier when you do
it with someone else, especially whenthey've been studying the body and
hormones and symptoms and signals andthey know areas to point you in your
health to help you decode those faster.
(09:44):
And here's why learning your body'slanguage is so powerful, friend.
When I started paying attention tomy body's symptoms, really listening
to what it was trying to tell me,I began to uncover root issues I
had no idea were even possible.
For example, I realized thatmy stubborn weight wasn't just
(10:06):
about eating less or moving more.
It was connected to deeper issueslike estrogen dominance and poor liver
detoxification, things that were nowhereon my radar, and also things that
no doctor had ever mentioned to me.
I also discovered that my daily copingskills, the ones I leaned on to keep up
(10:28):
with a busy life and managing stress, were secretly sabotaging my energy levels.
Underneath it all I haddeveloped insulin resistance.
Hello, sugar addiction.
Even though I'd been tested fordiabetes multiple times because it runs
in my family, I was told I was fine.
So I never thought that insulin resistancewas a real issue for me until I fixed it
(10:54):
and I realized, "wow, that was affectingme so much more than I realized".
Even my healthy eating habits, the ones I thought were good
enough, were actually working formy hormones only half the month.
The other half I was unknowinglysabotaging my progress by sticking to
a rigid pattern that didn't support mybody's natural hormone rhythms as a woman.
(11:19):
It wasn't until I got to the rootcauses and really started understanding
my body's messages that I couldfinally flip the script on my health.
I stopped feeling powerless, and Istarted partnering with my body to
heal the way God designed it to heal.
That's why I also created aspecial free resource for you
called "Decode Your Symptoms (11:40):
What
Your Body Might be Telling You".
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed,or just plain confused about what
your body's trying to say thisguide is a perfect next step.
It's just a little starter stepfor you to give you some clues,
and a little bit of insight tohelp you get started on your own.
(12:02):
You can grab it in the show notes andstart uncovering the pathways God built
into your body for healing and thriving.
Okay, I wanna remindyou of this today too.
God cares about your body.
He knit you together with wisdom and love.
Psalm 139 says, " for you createdmy inmost being you knit me
(12:28):
together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I amfearfully and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful.
I know that full well".
I love, not just these verses righthere, 13 and 14, but I love the whole
chapter because it is praising theworks of God, not just in our body,
(12:53):
but in the earth and the beauty andpower of everything that he created.
And I have to remember that even whenit feels like my body is failing me
because something's not right, becauseI don't have the energy I need, because
I feel sick and I don't know how toget better, or whatever the thing is.
(13:14):
Sometimes I have to look backand I have to remember two things
about God's design for my body.
One is that he knit metogether in my mother's womb,
and his works are wonderful.
And I have to remember that fullywell because he didn't make a
(13:37):
mistake when he created my body.
He didn't make a mistakewhen he gave me hormones.
He didn't make a mistake when he setthese systems in order to work in my body.
He set me up for success so that I couldlive healthy and well in this life.
And even the fall of Adam and Eve didnot fully destroy the design that God
(14:01):
set in motion even before the fall.
And so I have to remember that I ambeautifully and wonderfully made.
And then I also have to rememberthat that other part of "I
was knit in my mother's womb".
God knows all the innerworkings of my body.
He knows what's going on inmy body, even when I don't.
(14:24):
He can see the underlying issues beforeI can even see them, and sometimes I
have to partner with my body to learnthat language, but I also partner
with God in prayer, and I pray for therevelation of what's going on in my body.
"Lord, help me understand what'shappening, even when I feel so confused.
(14:45):
God, I don't have a medical degree, but I know the creator of my body and
all of my systems, and you made themto work together, and you made me to
thrive in this life so that I couldfulfill the purposes that you have for
me on this earth." And so when you feelfrustrated, remember that not only are
(15:06):
you beautifully made, but lean into God.
Ask him to, to show you theresources that you need.
I can't tell you how many times I,you know, picked up a book that I
was like, uh, I guess I'll read this.
I don't even know if I wanna read this.
I don't know if it's gonna be helpful.
And then I would find somethinglike, so like that was such a
(15:26):
breakthrough for me and my health.
Or when I was like scrolling Pinterestand I, something would just pop up.
Nothing that I had even searchedfor online at all, but it
just popped up right there.
And I would read an article and I waslike, "oh my gosh, this was a thing that
I needed that I didn't know I need".
God can get you the resources that youneed to help you learn your body, to help
(15:50):
you steward your health, but you have tolean on him to fill the gap for you too.
Your body isn't a random machinethat occasionally malfunctions.
It's a living, breathing masterpiece.
Learning to listen to it,to care for it, to trust it.
(16:12):
It's an act of stewardship.
It's part of living fully inthe design god created for you.
Listening to your body is not selfish.
It's worship.
It's saying, "thank you, Lordfor this vessel you created.
Help me to care for it well".
So wherever you are today, friend, whether you are feeling totally
(16:36):
disconnected from your body or you'restarting to pick up a few words
here and there, I want you to know.
Your body is good.
Your symptoms are not the enemy.
You're learning a new language, andyou are doing better than you think.
