(00:46):

barely making it through the day.
Relying on coffee and chocolate tosurvive and wondering why nothing
I tried ever made me feel better.
Then God stepped in andrevealed a powerful truth.
A woman's body is beautifullyand uniquely designed to thrive.

(01:07):

through fatigue and step into thevibrant, joy filled life he has for us.
Mama.
I'm living proof thatit's possible these days.
I wake up, refreshed, nourished my bodywith intention and navigate the chaos
of motherhood with patience and peace.

for grace, you are in the right place.

and empowering tools to renew yourhealth, body, soul, and spirit.

(01:48):
Are you ready for this?
Let's do it, mama.
Okay.
Real talk.
Have you ever done a diet withyour husband, same food, same
workout, same goals, and watchedhim drop 10 pounds without blinking?
While you gained three, started cryingover laundry, and suddenly hated everyone.

(02:10):
Yes, girl.
This is the stuff that hilariousand relatable commercials are made
of the world around, because wecan all relate to this in some way.
But you might start thinking, what's wrong with me?
Why is my body so difficult?
But here's the thing, it'snot that your body is broken.

(02:32):
It's that your body is different.
Women aren't made to functionlike men and thank God, right?
Because as much as I wish my husbandunderstood what I went through every
single month, if both of us were dealingwith hormonal swings... um, chaos!
Someone has to be steadyand someone has to have the

(02:52):
miraculous capacity to grow life.
Yeah, we get the second job.
It's a blessing and sometimes it feelslike a curse, but it doesn't have to.
So today I wanna talk about somethingthat I know you've probably felt, even

if you couldn't name it (03:06):
your hormones.
Those moody little things thatwe like to blame for everything
from breakouts to breakdowns.
But here's the twist.
Your hormones were actuallydesigned to help you thrive.
They're not the villain in your story.
They're your superpower.

(03:28):
Now, hold on.
Don't cancel me yet.
Stick with me for just a minute, because I'm gonna explain what I mean.
The reason they feel like theenemy is because no one ever
taught us how to work with them.
We've been taught to ignorethem, suppress them, or fix them.
But what happens when you tryto suppress the system God

(03:48):
designed to cycle and shift?
You feel a little crazy, reallyexhausted, frustrated, and often stuck.
Let's go back to yourhusband for a second.
His hormones reset every24 hours like clockwork.
He can eat the same, workout the same, and perform the same day after day.

(04:10):
Why?
Because his design is simple and steady.
He's wired to protect and provide.
Think back to the days of survival, andnow imagine if a man was totally out
of commission for a week every month.
Not helpful for a man whoneeds to protect and provide.

(04:31):
We need that to happenall the time without fail.
But as a woman, your design, your superpower, you carry the
capacity for life, literally.
And I believe that that is truein our soul and our spirit.
We're meant to bring life intothe world, but that's also

(04:51):
true literally for our body.
And that requires shifts in energy, mood, and needs throughout the month.
We were meant to be cyclical, butwe live in a culture that expects
us to perform more like machines.
So when we don't get the same resultsfrom a diet, or a fitness plan, or

(05:12):
a supplement stack as a man, or evenanother woman, we assume we're failing.
But the truth is we justneed a different approach.
Let's talk about what's actuallyhappening inside our bodies because
it's kind of like a hormonalplayground, and not everyone on the
playground plays nicely together.

(05:33):
We've got two main kids on theseesaw, estrogen and progesterone.
They take turns being highand low throughout the month.
When estrogen is high, usually inthe first half of your cycle, you
feel a little more unstoppable.
Your energy picks up, you're moreresilient to stress, you might even

(05:54):
feel, dare I say it, confident.
But here's the deal, estrogen canonly play well if insulin is low.
If your blood sugar's spiking fromstress, snacks or skipping meals,
your estrogen might tank early, and that's when the fun ends.
Now, on the other side, let's bring in cortisol.

(06:17):
The kid who always brings drama.
If cortisol's high, itcan ruin everything.
But when estrogen is doing herthing, she keeps cortisol in check.
Now we transition to the second halfof your cycle, progesterone's turn.
Progesterone is your calming, nurturing, anti-anxiety hormone.

(06:38):
She's the girl you want aroundwhen life gets crazy, but
she's also super sensitive.
If cortisol comes back and startsshowing off, progesterone ducks out.
That is why high stress during thistime can leave you with terrible
PMS, mood swings, cravings, andthose "I hate everyone" days.

(07:01):
On the bright side, you're way lesssensitive to insulin during this phase.
So yes, if you're craving pasta or asweet treat, this is your moment, girl.
Your body will actually handlethose carbs better now than
it did earlier in your cycle.
Have you ever had those moments whereyou haven't eaten something in a while,

(07:23):
and you think, "oh, I'm gonna treatmyself and I'm gonna eat the bread or
whatever, and I'm gonna enjoy it today".
And you eat it, it's great, andthen you wait for your body's
response and you feel good.
And so you get a little overconfidentand you start eating it the next day, and
the next day, and the next day, and theneventually, obviously, it catches up with

(07:45):
you and then you feel absolutely terribleand you're like, "yeah, my body could
handle a little bit of it, but I went waytoo far and now I feel terrible again".
Well, part of what's inplay is your hormones.
There's a time when your hormones lovegood, healthy carbs, and a time where

(08:06):
they don't respond to them so well.
And this comes into play here too.
This is also why things like the ketoor carnivore diet might feel awesome
for most of the month until you comeup to the second half of your cycle
and it is completely not working.
If you've ever felt great for liketwo weeks and then you suddenly

(08:29):
get hit with exhaustion, PMS andpainful periods, it's probably
your hormones waving a white flag.
So why does thisinformation matter so much?
The thing is, is that we've normalizedhormone chaos, painful periods, wild mood
swings, hormonal acne, PCOS, infertility.

(08:54):
It's all become "justpart of being a woman".
But friend, it's notsupposed to be this way.
Your hormones were designedto shift, but they were also
designed to flow in harmony.
And when we support those rhythms, instead of trying to suppress or outsmart

(09:14):
them with things like birth control,or hormone replacement therapy, or
different solutions like that, whenwe actually start to support those
rhythms, something incredible happens.
We start to heal.
We start to feel like ourselves again.
We start to understand howpowerful our design really is.

(09:35):
So how do we support ourhormones without losing our mind?
Let me just say this now.
Yes, your hormones are complicated.
Yes, they fluctuate.
Yes, there are a lot of moving parts.
But no, it doesn't haveto be overwhelming.
You don't need a PhD or aspreadsheet to feel better.

(09:58):
You just need tounderstand the foundations.
Here's what matters most.
Number one is your sleep.
Your hormones literallyreset while you sleep.
Mess with your sleep, and your wholehormonal rhythm gets out of sync.
At night there's this wholelittle ecosystem of hormones and
cleansing practices that are goingon to help you reset, restore, and

(10:24):
renew your body and your hormones.
It's like the night shift, settingup for success in the morning.
And if you wake up every morningfeeling like you got hit by a bus
before your feet even hit the floor, there's a good chance you're not
getting good sleep and your hormonesare feeling a little out of whack too.
So the biggest gift you can giveyourself is a good night's sleep.

(10:47):
If you're having trouble with this, then number one, set a bedtime and
get in bed earlier than you have been.
And if you have trouble falling asleepor staying asleep, then go back and
listen to my podcast about workingout, because I promise it will help
you get a better night's sleep.
Okay, number two is stress.

(11:09):
Cortisol is like thehormonal party crasher.
Keep it in check and yourwhole system runs smoother.
Take a few minutes everyday to calm your system.
Take some deep bellybreaths and count to 10.
Take 10 minutes to go sitoutside and just do nothing.

(11:30):
And allow yourself some momentsof peace in the day, even
if it's just for a moment.
Those moments count and they'lladd up to help keep your stress
in check and help balance yourhormones a little bit more, too.
All right, number three is insulin.
Stable blood sugar equals stablemood, energy, and hormone function.

(11:53):
Balance your meals and don't skip meals.
And stop living on granolabars and a toddler leftovers.
I see you, mama.
I know what you're doing.
I've been there too.
Remember that insulin willmake your estrogen crash.
It's like that little teeter-totter.
When estrogen is high, itwants insulin to be low.

(12:15):
So if you have a high insulinat the wrong time a month, it's
gonna create hormonal chaos.
You can do that byreducing your sugar intake.
Make sure that you don't startor end your day with sugar.
And make sure that if you're eatingsugar, you're eating it after a
good meal, that will help yourinsulin levels significantly.

(12:37):
Okay, number four is detox.
Your liver is the managerof hormone cleanup.
It converts, activates, andclears out used hormones.
If the liver's overwhelmed, yourwhole system gets backed up,
kind of like a clogged sink.
So you can do some really easy thingsto promote detox on a daily basis.

(13:02):
Like number one is moving your body.
Your lymphatic system needs a boost to getthings moving so that it can take those
toxins and flush them out of your body.
Number five is fasting, with wisdom.
Intermittent fasting can help resetyour hormones and promote healing, but

(13:25):
only when done in sync with your cycle.
When estrogen is high, yourcapacity for fasting goes up too.
That's because estrogen wants yourinsulin to be low and it has a
greater capacity for stress too, sothat's an excellent time to fast.

(13:45):
However, when progesterone comesinto play, it wants cortisol, your
stress hormone, to be low, andfasting introduces stress to the body.
If you do it at the right time, itcan be a healthy promotional stress
to your body, but if you do it at thewrong time, it can be detrimental too.

(14:07):
So when progesterone is high, thencut back on the fasting, pull back
a little bit, eat a little bit more, and eat those healthy, nutrient rich
carbs that are gonna benefit your body.
Okay, number six is cycle based eating.
Here's the fun part.
Eating in sync with your cyclemight actually feel less restrictive

(14:29):
than any diet you've tried.
No more one size fits all plans.
Just learning to nourish your body basedon what it actually needs each week.
As women, we often think that if our dietisn't working, then we must need to cut
out more, but that's not necessarily true.
Sometimes you're just eating the rightthing at the wrong time of the month,

(14:53):
and so if you learn how to do that, and move, and eat, and live with your
hormones instead of against them, theneverything starts to kind of line up.
And you'll actually find that, yes, Ican eat those things that I cut out.
I knew that those things werehealthy, but I felt like they weren't
working for my body, but I was justeating them at the wrong times.

(15:16):
Learning how to eat this way can actuallybe so freeing and the sad thing is
that this is all information that weall should have gotten when we got our
periods for the first time as young women.
This should have been like the initiation, this is how your body works, this
is how you eat, move and have yourbeing to work and thrive as a woman.

(15:39):
But unfortunately, wejust didn't get that.
But it doesn't mean that we can't getit now and start to live powerfully
as women, and to steward our healththe way that God made us and not
some cookie cutter solution that arereally never going to serve us well.
The good news is you were not made tofeel exhausted and confused every month.

(16:04):
You were created with arhythm, a divine design.
And when you learn to live in syncwith that rhythm, you don't just
feel better, you feel aligned.
If your head is spinning, I get it.
But this doesn't have to be complicated.

and even thyroid and adrenal function.
