Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys This is.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Media Match, a roundtable of Cowboys insiders trumping wisdom and
offering sizzling takes on the current state of your Dallas Cowboys.
Now your host new he scrugs.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Media mash on Christmas Eve, it's Tuesday, and make us
a fire edition. But you know, we decide to bring
in Jesse Holly now a full time media member which
takes its hot as most trusted Clarence Hill and they're
working at the same organization, Baby City Dallas.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
All City DLLs.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Who did they gonna fire first? Clarence got give one
of us is gonna say something that's gonna get us
in trumpet.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Clarence's political takes something I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I have stayed away from that.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I have stayed away from that, stayed away from the administration,
laying away.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
From that, staying away from that.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Steve get nobody options right, you either leader on leave.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Yeah, I said in every job man, Yeah, it's I'm
just not gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I just knew the long nightmare would be over.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
I merely knew.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
To answer your question, No, I'm not doing it.

Speaker 6 (01:31):
We didn't even have a show on election today.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
You don't get straight hand get you like straight tweet
on that day. They let us don't even tweet, but.

Speaker 6 (01:41):
They didn't let us have a media bass on that
tuesdays it.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Is, It's gonna be true anyway, Chris and Chris and
Deren canceling.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Wow, you really got.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
To ask no media bass on Tuesday anyway? Man? How
you got no? It wasn't It was Wednesday. You say
it was the trade deadline day.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
By the way, it was the trade deadline.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
But Jared already announced they was signing the great Mingo.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Manad the Mingo have a catch now?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
But eight did.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
I'm just trying to I'm just still trying to understand
the Mingo thing.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Man, Why why would you do that?

Speaker 6 (02:29):
We have we have Trey Lancer sitting right there if
you want to, if you want to scratch your head
about giving up a fourth round pick for a player
who ain't playing, why would you skip up with Trey
Lance to go to Jonathan.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Mink He did not have a target in the game.
Look at the target, Ceedee Lamb, Jake Ferguson, Brandon Cooks again,
florinoy Rico, Donald J. Tobert County, Turpens schoolmaker Hunter Limke
with two targets.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Nothing from Mingo.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Again, Why are we worried about Mingo when Trey Lands
is sitting right there?

Speaker 5 (03:05):
Can I worry about both?

Speaker 4 (03:10):
What you want to see from freelance?

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I don't know. I'm just saying. I mean, it's interesting.
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
I think they've seen all they can see in practice.
But it's interesting that initially was we still got a chance,
so we're planning to wink.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Now it's we're still planning to win.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
And because I asked Mike about that, you know, because
now you know you invested in this guy. So just
from me, he says, a good question. You invested in
this guy, you traded draft picks for him. There's a
chance he could walk out here as a free agent,
and you've never seen him play in a regular season game.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Okay, I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why because
how many times have we talked about how many free
agents are out there and you're like, hey, you're free agent.
You got to put out good tape because maybe you're
not here, but you're somewhere else. Mike McCarthy's trying to
win games because his contract is up. He's a free agent,
so he's trying to win games. You know what, I
trust Cooper Rush. I don't want to trust Trade Lance.

(04:06):
I don't want Trail Lance mistakes because I'm trying to
make sure the Saints see what I can do that,
the Jets see what I can do.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
The other teams who make that, hey, I'm here. What
is he now? Twelfth on the old time wins list?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Here?

Speaker 5 (04:19):
That's how I to me, that's the only thing that
makes sense.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
He's trying to win because it's like Jerry, if you
not he, I need somebody else to hire me and say,
look at what I did with Cooper Rush, and I
don't need Trey Lance because if Trade Lances were performing,
what was you doing?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I agree?

Speaker 6 (04:32):
And he brought up the coaching staff. Off the coaching staff,
you know, they're on one year deals and there he
said the best path for the coaches in their future
is to continue on to try to win. And I
think that if you know, obviously look at the front office,
they would rather.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Play trade.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
But I think they're allowing Mike McCarthy to make the
decision because his job's on the line. I mean, I
think they're giving him a solid here and letting him.
You keep trying to win, You keep trying to convince us,
whether whether it may make a difference or not in
the end, because the diet may already be cast, but
they're they're allowed them. They give them a sound and sacrifice.

(05:14):
And this developmental thing for Trey Lance by saying, might go.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Win convince him of what.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Are we not? How much more do we need to see?
It's either you you want me.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Or you don't. There is And that's the part that
I keep.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
I keep coming back to when you're talking about the
evaluation process. I remember I almost walked away from a
job because they brought me back for a fourth interview
and I said, I'm not coming back for another one.
If you ain't figured this out by now, then I'm
not the guy like I don't know how many times?

Speaker 5 (06:00):
What more?

Speaker 4 (06:01):
If if he showed you all, he gonna show you
either you like what you're sipping, well, ask for another drink.
I don't understand the whole What more does he have
to prove? Like we're at this point in time of
the season, not get like, yeah, you go these last

(06:22):
two wins for him, but doesn't mean anything, doesn't mean anything.
I've already if I'm another team. If I'm another team,
there is a lot of film of who you are.
These last two games ain't gonna convince me. Ain't gonna
change my mind about what it is you are going

(06:44):
to be because the one thing that we know, the
eye in this guy, doesn't lie. You were consistently who
you are weekend and week out, month in and month out,
year in and year out. And I can go put
on any any film from any year and I'm going
to see who you are. This last a little bit
doesn't matter. And I'll say it may matter to some

(07:07):
of the players, right those guys are still trying to
put the finishing product out there and stamp on. You
know how I can turn things around? How I can
you catch some eyes and some other gms, some other coaches,
some other front offices to possibly raise my stock, to
get me a little bit more bread as I head
out to free agency, or to leave no doubt that
I'm supposed to be the guy that you side back here.

(07:28):
But for Mike, Mike from Pittsburgh, either you want me
or you don't, there is no more. There is nothing
that we got to keep playing this thing around with him.
I need to see you. No, you don't you know
who the man is.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
And I think that's what he said because I asked
him specifically about that, and we asked him about that,
and he said, listen, I'm at a different point in
my career.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
You know.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
He really opened up and says, my focus is my concern,
my care is for my assistance.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Cool, And that's fine, okay.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
And so we need to keep winning in his mind
for them, not necessarily for him. He needs he wants
to keep winning, stay on course and try to win
for them their jobs in their future because they're all
on one of you did Greg Ellis came out of nowhere,
came off the street, you know, changed careers.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I want to be a.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
Swag you right? Was that swag you was?

Speaker 4 (08:20):
That was that school down in Uh?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
So he came off the street the first time NFL coach,
first year, he could be wanting done.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
That's the that's that's this life though, that's the NFL life.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
It is it is.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
So what I'm saying is he's thinking about those guys
in their futures.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yes, but he's still thinking about himself, and I just
I think that he doesn't want to present it that way,
but yes, he's thinking about his crew, because that's what
every coach should be thinking about the crew too. But man,
that man is thinking about himself. That man is what
more do I have to do? I look at what
I guy GM.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
That he's Jerry. I mean, I think Jerry. Jerry's not
going to make a decision on the last two weeks.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
Jared's not gonna make a decision on the future on
this coaching staff. It was if it was about keeping
them together. He's showing enough winning the last four to
five four to five games.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
He's shown enough the last three years.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
I don't think the last two games are going to
be a deal breaker on whether he brings it back
or no.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
So let's can I can I cross over to lanes
without putting my blinker on.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
From Jersey?

Speaker 4 (09:30):
You're right, absolutely right? What do you feel about the
comments from Mike zimmer Well? They asked him about coaching further,
He talked about his age, talked about you know, I'll
see what the future holes. You know, we're talking about
possibly running this thing back. How do you guys feel
in Claire's I know that you're a lot, both of

(09:52):
you are are at these press conferences, and then does
it feel like Mike Zimmer might be like, maybe I'm done,
Maybe maybe I ain't cut out for this no more.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
It's a wild cover. It's one thing I know that yesterday.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
It was a happier friendly of Mike Zimmer in the
press conference last two weeks than it was early the season.
He was giving us nothing, he was answering nothing, and
he was, you know, very open and smiling and feeling
better about himself and the job he's done and what
they've done, you know, just so he says you will
wait in the season because you know that's what you're

(10:26):
gonna do. But I think he's enjoying it.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I think he's coming.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
He was on a one year deal. Would be more
of I still want to do this. I still look
forward to coaching next year. I look forward to getting
to the draft. I look forward to breaking down tape.
I look forward to evaluating some of these some of
these college kids and see where we can find our
way next year.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I just don't think that's the highest built.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
Here's how I read it, Okay, this is how I
read it.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I'll give you this because if I come back, you
need to give me the tools I need.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
I like big people. You won't come back. Let's go
get some some big people. Give me what I need.
I don't want to do.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
This again because one you're dealing again. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
But but but but the premise to me of there's
a lot of the pieces that he was coaching. It
didn't really fit and it took them a while to
get there. But I just feel like, if you know,
if you need, if you're gonna get the best out
of me, help me, help me do what I do.
That to me is why you say it in that fashion,
And that, to me is the way you need to
talk to a Jerry Jones. Hey man, Yeah, let's talk

(11:29):
about this. I need this, that and the other if
you want me to come back. Otherwise I don't know
if I really want to do it. That to me
is the way you.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Get what you want.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
That's it's a negotiation.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
And is there any better negotiator negotiator than Gerald Wayne Jones?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Not really, not in this sport.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
That's what I think.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
If I might exam, I've got to couch it that
way because then I could get with him.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, and he's at the point where we could take
it to leave it.

Speaker 6 (11:52):
I mean, like he's not burning up to you know,
I need to prove something to anybody, you know. And
and but I I do think that the way his
defense improved and you still got guys out, you're still
missing guys, and his defense has made the most dramatic
improvement from where they were to start the season to
where they are now. And it's not just about beating

(12:12):
up on the Carolinas and the Giants. I mean the
way they manage the game against against Cincinnati impressive, you know,
hold them to twenty points to lay to that mouth punt,
you know, and that that that that the whey that
office has been going and and his tamp offense was
again was rolling. I mean they were aving thirty one
points on the road. They were they had it, they
were dealing, and they did a damn good job slowing

(12:34):
down the tamp office.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
He got he got it aggressive.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
Without where without you know, without two defensive starters, I
mean linebackers. I mean, you're still without guys. And and
he's putting it together. And I think he's you know,
he's proud of the way they've improved and the job
he's done.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah, I think definitely from that standpoint from Zim. You know, Jerry,
someone make sure yeah, I'm open, I listen, I need.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
What are the if we're sitting on the cycle of
running it back, what are the running back deals look
like for these two? If these two are saying if
some you know, we know where I stand on this.
If if if Jerry decides to bring this group back,
what deal is? Are we talking a three year deal?

(13:22):
Four year? What do we think it's a minimum of three?
Could you foresee any situation? I don't, but could you
foresee any situation where it's like two.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
If it's a two year deal and basically it's almost
you know, it's like a one year you know, it's
like a really a one.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Hey man, we're gonna give you one. And I wouldn't
do it.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
And yeah, because if two year deal, you could, you
could you could eat it, you know at the end
of the next year.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
It's really just it's a glorified one year deal.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
But also come back into this, what do the Jets do?
What are the Saints?

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Do you know?

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Jacksonville Jacksonville could be open. What's the other job that
to open up his third job. It'side the Jets, the
Saints and Jets, the Giants should be Tom Brady getting
Mike Rabel over there is what I hear. May be
there be there, but I'm just saying we know that

(14:19):
bears okay and he's coaching that division.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
You know, I need to have better friends. I need
to have more. That's the goal for twenty twenty five.
Get connected with some rich people who can nepotism. They
show way into a situation.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
Your five closest friends or any of them, you know
in that realm.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
And I don't even have five friends. I don't even
have five close friends.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
So that there's your goal next year.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
How to get around five rich friends with money and influence.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
You know who My brother. My brother is the senior
advisor for for for Robert Kennedy, So maybe I could
get some I can find myself into the White House.
So I don't know the White House spoilers.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
I'm not that Yeah, do you believed all that? It's
a job, right, It's a job.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
I cover sports.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
He not a line with Kennedy. I cover sports.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Christmas e? Twenty fourth Tuesday?

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Last week? Last week when yeah, we.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Had Demontre Moron and the bear trap. That knew he
set up for the mantra. The mantree is a kappa,
I know. Oh it was. It was lovely because when
he walked in and I saw his pendant, I knew.
I said, this is gonna this is gonna be good.

(18:29):
It's only a matter of time. And then knew he
kind of knew. He kind of just threw a little
a little test jab early on and said something about
his pending. He's like, oh, you know, yeah, it.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
Was before the show. Yeah, yeah, before the show.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
And then and knew got him. He doesn't feel too
confident about what he has on right, and boy, he
set a trap up and they got to going. I said, like,
he's not. He's telling you part of it.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
I know he said it.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
I know, Jesse, who shut it up? You did, yes, instigator,
I already know.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Thank you, I thank you.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
And I said nothing during the show.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
And boy, I never said I never said I had
an affiliation to anything either.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
I didn't say, but you, but you had the bracelets on.
You think my head on a long sleep shirt did too?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
I did.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
They were showing they showed through the shirt, but had
a long sleep shirts. But it was my black Negro
League baseball shirt. I know what I had all that.
Somehow he figured that because I mean, unless you look deep,
you're not gonna see he makes I find it. So
he found out or you told him, because you can't
break too.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
He started it, I know he did. He started. He
threw it out there. Start.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
You're gonna believe. You're gonna believe me, You're gonna believe him.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
He knows you, he knows you.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Listen, when that man walked in the door and knew
he locked eyes on that penned it. You saw the
get to go in and then knew he hit him.
He knew, he knew he was throwing them faint jazz,
faint jazz, fate faith jazz, and he went jabbed body
and when he dropped them hands knew he went overhead left.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
Jesse threw the bomb in the ring. Okay, there was
nothing for it.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
We don't know what happened.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
I don't know what happened, chrispys Okay, but listen, and
they knew he hit him.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Are we were talking about? Is what? We never said? What?
Who did? What? What did you actually do?

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Jesse instigated and he himself, so what happened?

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Let me get there, Let me get there, Let me
paint this picture for you. Now. So, like I said,
knew we throw them faint jabs at him. So now,
of course, live on air, he has to defend himself
and his faint jazz, faint jazz body shot and when
he said something and he did like this, knew he
hit him with the but are you financial? And buddy,

(20:56):
you thought he had a speech impediment the way he
was stuttering and he started the sweating and all that,
and knew he just said, bingo, I see how serious
you are about what you do. And there was some
other cold words in there that I wouldn't qualified to
understand thee but yeah, it was it was. It was
a sight to see. It was a sight to see
and knew he just set knew. He just sat back out.

(21:18):
He he almost did the Muhammed at least that on
the top of him.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
But he wasn't.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
He wasn't but he was not. He couldn't. He couldn't
bro he was. He was trying. He was trying.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
He was he tried to get up and no back down.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
But it was good.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
It's one that works.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
You think you think you know how to find the
website to sign up right now?

Speaker 3 (21:43):
You know, brother, I went to school with in business school.
Here camp still ain't financially. I've been riding this dude
for two years.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
The website, you love it so much.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
He couldn't white buy jiving. The boss has been on
me his time.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Time.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
It's time for you that the dudes up. Okay, I know,
I know any idea.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Okay, So we lost half the audience right now.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Exactly lost bringing back here to the Cowboys. They got
Philadelphia this week. The game is now one o'clock, so
so you know everybody can watch.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
This thing personal thing because he wants be able to
do his show and get back home.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Right.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
I hate I hate I hate evening. I hate night games.
Let's what are we waiting for?

Speaker 3 (22:29):
You and Michael from Pittsburgh. That's what you guys are here.
Philly is is trying to lock up the top seed here, No,
Jalen hurts, he's been ruled out already.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
He has a cushion. I thought I've.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
Read something that it's gonna be the backup, but I
you know, I don't think it was a picket picket here,
and I think he got hurt at the end of
the game the other day to.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Kenny.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
So so that's my question here is I know that
opened up like I was an eight nine point point
favorite here. If McCarthy wins, this is it a one
hundred like boom, Jerry, you got?

Speaker 5 (23:05):
You have no choice? I mean, could that he's coming.
I mean, I think he's coming back.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
But this man goes to Philadelphia, Cooper Rush, get one
more in. You don't have no digs. I mean, I'm
just I don't know what you do. I mean, I
think I don't know how you can prove anything. He
has improved and already. Okay, it's kind of like sometimes
you have statements like okay, boom, like, you know, just
want the more. If anything. We know there's a section

(23:33):
of the fan base and section of media. Jesse Holly
were like no, move on body belt Like no, no, no,
you didn't take it further than Jason Garrett.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
No, I don't want two, three, four more years of this.
I get it.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
But there are some folks out there fan wise who
I think they want to be convinced.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
There's always a group of people want to be connect
I don't.

Speaker 6 (23:57):
I do. I do fans of five too. I don't
think that the fans wanted to do I mean, seriously,
the fans were not the fan with disillusion coming into
the season. Okay, we had Jerry had lost the fan
base after green Bay and doing nothing, making no changes
and no additions, and then you get off to the

(24:18):
start that they got off to. Uh, the fans had
been off the bandwagon, you know.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
True. I think that.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Them rallying winning for the last five whatever it's been.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Shows you that he's a good coach.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
But how can you resell this again to the fan
base going in the next year, and then again it's
not getting to the playoffs, get into the super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Correct?

Speaker 4 (24:50):
The only way, and history says it won't happen. The
only way and this is the this is this will
have to be a master salesman job up by Jerry Jones.
The only way you get the attention off bringing Michael
from Pittsburgh back for an extension is you actually go
all out and you go when you like, you go

(25:12):
as soon as you can when free agency opens up,
you go and sign some of the big dogs right away.
That's the only way you can kind of get people
to start believing like, oh, okay, or the.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
Big dog you need to sign right away, Michael Parson.
Get that out the way.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Okay, that's true, that's happening, and then.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
When is gonna happen or the problem. You get that
out the way.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
Then you could go on cherry pick and see what
else you need, because as long as Michael sitting out there,
they're gonna say, well, we got it, we got a budget.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
If Mike, we can't really over.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
Extending here, get the Michael thing out the way, I agree,
and then you can go and cherry pick whether you
want to bring back oh, sir, but Jordan Lewis, or
and go out there and get somebody else, you know,
go down the list. Yes, that makes that makes me
and Michael gave them a blueprint last week. He said,
I want to get it done early. He said, uh,

(26:04):
I will come in and I'll be at minicamp. I'll
be at ot as. I want to be around, whether
with not if there's a new coach staff. He was
the same coats staff. Want to be around for the
young guy, so I can be a leader and and
and be connected with the guys.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
You know, these are the things that he said out
of his mouth.

Speaker 6 (26:19):
Call him on his bluff. Let's make it happen. Agree,
and I don't need forty million. I don't need to
be the highest paid defender. So run out of a
boast of the contract or justin Jefferson contract, Let's get
this thing done.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
David man, little Gella gonna have a different of course, David,
my little geta gonna say different, but but test it.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
At least I agree with Jesse.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Jason Garrett went eight and eight three straight years, and
Jerry sold that. So to me, I don't think there's
any issue with him trying to sell a guy who
went twelve and five and just say, hey man, he
had a hiccup and he had a hiccup before and
we saw what he could do.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
Say, my fan base is different.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Than I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
I think i think they're a little bit more. They're
a little bit more volatile.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
Now, Oh, it's a fan base. They're eating their own
this fan base. I've never seen the fan base hat
on their own quarterback and hate on their own players.
And the way this fam, this current fan base is
hating on the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
And what did Steven say? All tickets were sold right?

Speaker 2 (27:15):
That was last year.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
They'll be sold again.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
We don't know that. Yes, last year they had the
fastest re upp ands. We'll see if they have the
fastest re uppings on the ticket this year.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Dude, they're gonna be selling out.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
This is, this is There will be no paper bags
in here and people empty seats that they'll be here.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Man, you're showing us that.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
You're saying how the kind of this season has ended
because there has been some speculation with fans and the
seats are not all being filled and some of the
other teams coming in.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
The secondary markets.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
I mean, you could have got a lotwer level seats
four hundred dollars last three weeks here they did. I know,
ticket guys are just like, I can't make no money, right,
you know, because yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
The secondary market, so they were still sold.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
I understand that. But the tickets sold, they sold.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Yeah, but but yeah, of course right, they bought them
with the expectation that this season would turn out differently.
And I think now people are more looking at saying,
you know, just economy wise, they're saying, money is a
little bit tight. If I don't believe what you're really
telling me that, I don't want to. I don't want
to put those thousand dollars back into Deceson tickets.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
Convinced me again it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
This isn't five and eleven, Campo, those three five eleven,
they're going to be back. Guys are going to be back.
We keep talking about it never happens.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
I mean, I think we started training camp. I mean,
the tendance was very lower training camp. I mean, and
certainly they're just the tickets and sold. But I'm gonna
telling you there is a there's some apathy disillusionment among
the fan base that I haven't seen since I've been
covering this team. And there's some some nastiness, some frustrations

(28:52):
that are and with the Internet, with social media that
it's more vocal against from within.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
This this free agent, this free agent season, and this
draft is gonna be make or breakers. I think is
a little aggressive critical, it's super critical, and I think
you can see a massive you'll see a massive swing
in fans if you go out and you don't address

(29:20):
what they feel you need to address with the level
of attention you need to address them too.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
There's yes, you can sell some hopium with some free
agent signs and drafting, Yes you can do that.

Speaker 9 (29:33):
I just.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Like if you go on the first round again, you
get the project again, and and you're trying to sell
me on the project of a guy who may have
first round attributes but aren't really pegged to be that guy.
And this comes down to that point where because you're
you'll be drafting in a very unique sweet spot, right
because you drafting that spot between fifteen and eighteen, where

(29:56):
that player, depending on what the need was, could be
a top ten guy, but also he might have some
things that could have pushed him to the second round.
So it's like that that's that area you can have.
You can have some great success there or you could
you could you can twig and miss at that spot.
You know what I'm saying, because.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
I guess the biggest question.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
I know we got a break, but the biggest question
is is say you move off of Mike, who are
you gonna get that can come in here and in
the way you're doing business now, Because whether you bring
back back, you gotta change the way you do business
and re freegy.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
We talked about that.

Speaker 6 (30:33):
But if you the way you're doing business now, who's
gonna come in and change it? Who's gonna make your
It's not just about getting in the playoffs, because we're
gonna be in the same vortex. You get to the playoffs,
you want it done, but see who gets you to
the next level.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
That's where my level of hopium is trying to come
into this play. My level of hopium is that a
wing in a prayer says this one time, I'm gonna
do it differently. This one time, I'm gonna I'm gonna
go See My thing is is Mike schematically isn't good enough.

(31:07):
That's so for Mike, you have to have an exceptional
amount of top tier talent for him to work. I
think with the other names and you guys know those names.
I think what they do. They can take good talent
and scheme it up in a great scheme. And that's
the difference. But you gotta be willing to take the

(31:27):
chance on something that doesn't have the quote unquote head
coaching experience. That that's the difference. And that's what my
hope lies. My hope lies is that he gets finished,
he gets finished eating squirrel brain and he says, you
know what.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
That table that's what he said. I mean his sister
and his dad.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
He was like, I don't think that's That's what I'm
just saying.

Speaker 5 (31:56):

To media Mash Media Mash right here on Dallascowboys dot com.
We are here at the SWBC podcast studio at Star
Frisco tomorrow. Mike McCarthy's giving all the players and coaches
off nobody here for Christmas Day. We got Clarence Hill,
Jesse Holly. They were all city downas some new instructs.
So Jesse is a former player. You hear that, Hey,

(34:29):
you don't have to go to work on Christmas Day.
Your thoughts of how you feel about the head coach?

Speaker 4 (34:37):
I mean, damn you hope I got a little bit
of level of of of decency, and you don't make
us work on Christmas, I don't. That doesn't move me.

Speaker 6 (34:48):
You know, I've been here before and they have worked
on Christmas where I've been there a long time, so
uh there there have been time when they gave him
the morning office off in practice Christmas afternoon.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
I want to feel like I've been here when we
worked on Christmas Day.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
Yeah, Garrett, Yeah, yeah, I mean they gave him more
parts that afternoon. You know, Mike has done one thing
about Mike and Zebra talked about yesterday too. He does
a good job taking care of the players and preparing
the team. We could talk all they want about whether
the ex or o's all the stuff, but as.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Far as.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Taking care of the team, the tea, yeah, body wise,
preparing the.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Team, preserving the body. Could you say preparing I'm looking
at you a little bit different. The light look a
little different.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Talk about.

Speaker 6 (35:38):
What I'm saying is his schedule, how he manages the teams,
and that's wrom managing the team. He's done a good
job managing the team. I think this week is the
perfect example. He had them come in yesterday, had come
to day. You know this Tuesday, knowing the day off,
and they switched to Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Would that be the same thing if they were in
playoff contention?

Speaker 2 (35:59):
I think so, just I think so.

Speaker 5 (36:02):
So when he spoke to.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Us yesterday, he spoke basically.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Hey, I've done it both ways. Okay, so you know
he's done it before.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
He just prefers, you know what, all right, let's just
and as he said, we're gonna come in on Tuesday,
we're gonna work to so we're gonna make Tuesday Wednesday,
We're gonna take Wednesday off, right, and then we'll get
back to work on Thursday and do everything. But I
think he just spoke in terms of I've done this
for a number of years in the league, and this,
in his mind, is the best way to do it.
And he talked about we worked as a staff, We

(36:29):
tried to work a day ahead anyway to get ready
for this.

Speaker 6 (36:32):
So yeah, he says, you know, because the game the
nine on Sunday that the assistant coaches started preparing for
Philly Sunday morning, gotcha, And he did some stuff on Saturday,
you know, and do what the game planning and stuff
like that Sunday morning, So even before they knew they
were out and they were already working on game planning
for Philly, and so they got some that stuff out
the we. I think it's not just giving the players.
I was giving the coaches off to everybody assistant coaching.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
I got a family too, he got you got girls.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Yeah, and that's why I was, you know, That's why
I was. You know.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
So I'm happy for Mike because this you know, Christmas week,
your family is all around. Getting that win was important
because that if they hadn't won that game, talk around
the Christmas dinner table and everything else, all the media
and everybody else talking about his job and his future.
We're still talking about it, but certainly it would be

(37:22):
there won't be no momentum by bringing it.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
It'd be talking the other way, is what I'm saying
and seeing. I maybe I'm missed to optimistic from this standpoint.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
You've been very optimistic about this Jesse.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
He's number twelve now and NFL wins.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
All the time.

Speaker 5 (37:40):
And that's my point.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Okay, And I say, if he's not it here, you
think the Jets couldn't use him?

Speaker 5 (37:49):
Sure, big, he's better than anything they run out there.
Late think he's better than Dennis Allen and what they renew.
So I look, I mean Ivra Flues in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
So to me, I look at it is Hey, man,
this guy is like a player I'm auditioning for everybody
else like that last preseason game.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Man.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
That's why, man, we go to rush out here. We're
coming out here, we're studying with doing everything, because if
he's not good enough for Jerry in this league, he's
gonna be good enough for somebody.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
I think he's already shown from his time that that
year that he had off, that he's spent in the
garage or the barn, and what I think he's done
enough to garner attention from other programs, other other franchises
around the country to say, hey, we want an established

(38:36):
guy to come in here and coaches. We want a
guy to be able to come in and he can
go and say hey, here's because let's be honest. The
Benson family and and and in New Orleans, right and
the Woody Johnson and in New York.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
Chicago.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
They know Jack, They know the pretense in what he
was working under. They know that that that group is
buddy buddy. Now that group is buddy buddy. They have
a clear understanding of what the conditions that Mike McCarthy
were working under here. Now, however, they fall in how

(39:19):
they want to do business in their franchises. They know
that if we give Mike what he needs, that there
may be a level for him to be successful beyond
just the regular season wins. That has been the Achilles
Hill here in Dallas. So I don't think he has
to prove anything else as far as resume wise. I

(39:43):
do think those three twelve and five seasons gives him
enough of a boost for people to go, hey, let's get.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
On the plane.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
We're gonna have you come in. We're gonna sit down
and have a talk with you. The ownership that the
people who will make the hires in New Orleans, in Chicago,
in Jackson Bill in UH New York, whether that be
the Maras or the or the Johnson's, they know, they
know what they are. They know what this head coach
is dealing with from an ownership perspective.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
And I think he's done a good job.

Speaker 6 (40:15):
I mean, continue to manage, and I do too with
with with winning games without Dak a couple of years ago,
the way they've won games the last few weeks without
dak and and I think they are coached Tampa Bay.
I think they are coach care I mean, he's better
than a lot of coaches in this league.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
But I still stand ten tools down. I stand like
that dude on the in the Game of Thrones when
he pulls out the sword and all the horses are coming.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
You've never seen the show.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
I never seen it.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
I just seen it. I just seen the Gift. I
never seen the show. I never seen one episode. I
just saw the Gift.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
It's a good shown. I know you like to wire.
It's a good, really good show.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
But I stand ten toes down in the in the
sense of he's being got to have a coach. He's
been good. It's not going to cut it under the
ramifications of what you coach here in Dallas.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Is it.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
It's it's you can't be good. You cannot be good
because you're only good. You can't be good and your
scheme just be good, and your players just be good
because because you because you're running into better schemes, better players,
better teams, and they put belt to tail on you

(41:30):
when it matters the most. We go back and we
look at those trouble five seasons when you go and
look at those five or six losses that happened, the
five loss that happened in those seasons. You look at
the teams couldn't stop the run, couldn't run. Those a
team that you would have to see in January, but
put belt to tail on you and in the regular
season that you cannot overcome them.

Speaker 6 (41:51):
Has Zimmer closed gap on the run defense enough for
you to compete with a full companiment.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
You're about to see, you about you about to see
You're about to see Dan. They might break the record
on this next week. If Kellamore don't mess it up,
you go see.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Okay, we thought Tampa was going run all over too.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
They had one hundred and thirty something yards rushing.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
I mean that's yeah, but yeah, I'm just you know, you.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Don't want to give up one hundred and forty yard Rusian.
I trusted, believe me, in the defensive.

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Board in that room.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Line number one is marketing.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
Don't give up. Don't give up.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
No talking about the blueprints and every and everything in
every in every defensive.

Speaker 5 (42:31):
Room they got.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Don't give up a hundred yard Russia. Don't give up
to two hundred yard pass it. Don't give up, So
they didn't get a check mark in that box. They
got the dub.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
They got the dub.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
Didn't get the check market the stop in the running game.

Speaker 5 (42:44):
But you got the dub and that's what.

Speaker 6 (42:47):
And they got the turnovers and they got to they
were able to slow. What I'm saying is they were
able to slaughter enough where they could still get to
the quarterback. You know, it's not like they were you know,
because early on Tampa has had number thirty in shorts
and they had get a lot of yards early on
first and second down.

Speaker 4 (43:04):
Marsh Is on your team, you won't have a problem
getting to the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (43:07):
Yeah, but I'm saying but because the game was closed,
they were able to play a complimentary game, even though
they gave it up. Was young, but they were able
to They weren't just running it down their throat, so
they were able to force them into some third and
laws which allowed the Cowboys to finish the game on
defense as well.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
Can I give you? Can you? Can you be honest
with me? Can you open and honest with me?

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (43:28):
When Tampa got the ball back, what did you say
to yourself? Did you say that were about to lose
this one? They're about to march down the field and
win this game.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Be honest, I was worried about it, for sure.

Speaker 6 (43:39):
When they got the ball back, I was worried about it,
you know, because, like I thought, because I thought it
was you know, because the thing is as well as
office play in the first half, they did nothing in
the second.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
Half and so had sixty yards pass.

Speaker 6 (43:51):
Yeah, they did nothing in the second half, and you
know when when when Jordan Lewis made that greater interception,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
It's over. But they couldn't do nothing, you.

Speaker 6 (43:58):
Know, and obviously they came back and they got the touchdown,
and then you know, I think that you know, I
was talking to Joe and I said, good thing they
got it at two minutes, so they don't have to
onside kick then you and then just need a field
goal because the cowboy was able to I was Mike
shouldn't have running on first down on that last series

(44:18):
when he ran it on first down and got the
incomplete pass, because they would have been well under you know,
two minutes. But when they got the ball back, you know,
they had plenty of time and again the defense came
over to play. I was worried about him for sure,
because all they did was a field goal. You know,
I was definitely worried about the running down getting down
the field. And but but Mike Evans, I mean, the

(44:38):
Cowboys are physical.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Mike Evers. Remember when he left the field, he.

Speaker 6 (44:42):
Left the field after he got that hit by his
own Aggie teammate Donald. They were very physical, you know,
And so the Cowboys had something to do with them
not finishing.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
Yes, correct, all right, we have Christmas Day football Kansas
City at Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (44:59):
Chill. Who you got Kansas City? I mean, I like Pittsburg.
I like what they've done.

Speaker 6 (45:05):
But you know, and I think that Jordan not having
George Pick in the last couple of weeks hurt that offense.
But at the end of the day, the Steelers are
now the championship team. They gonna make the playoffs, they
gonna have them winning the record. But at the end
of the day, they don't have enough kins school. I
can't see everything scores close with them with that. Uh,

(45:25):
twenty four to twenty you got, Jess.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
I got Kansas City twenty three nineteen.

Speaker 3 (45:33):
I ain't give me Kansas City, and I'm gonna go
twenty seven to twenty one, Baltimore is at Houston.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
Chill be Moore, be Moore, got it rolling, be more,
got it rolling. I'm going to Baltimore twenty eight, twenty one,
twenty eight twenty one.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Yes, have we just conceded the fact that this m
v P race has just come down to Josh Allen
and and and and sa kuon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
No, I think, I think. I think Lamar got better numbers. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:14):
The problem for Lamar, in my opinion, it's almost like
when you get to be when you when it was
Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. After a while, you're fatigued,
You're you're competing against your best even though you had
a whole new year and you're doing this and it
wasn't last year.

Speaker 4 (46:28):
Yeah, but this is this is probably his best year.
This is probably one of his best years statistically.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Michael Jordan lost one of the MAXXT numbers.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
You know that happens that numbers are better than him
last year. Let's be honest.

Speaker 6 (46:41):
You know what what he's done this year, and people
forget they beat Buffalo Hit Hit.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
People forget that you know they beat Buffalo Hit.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
But uh, I just think that everybody wants to give
it to Josh Allen. They've been trying to give it
to him for a couple of years. They want to
give it to him, and he's as spectacular plays that
particular season. I don't know that the season is better
than Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 4 (47:07):
Give me, give me Baltimore, Uh, twenty eight, seventeen, twenty
eight to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
I took Baltimore. Let's go twenty six twenty one. So
I'm gonna go with there. So all right, gentlemen, having
merry Christmas.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
Because the NBA done on Christmas.

Speaker 6 (47:22):
You know we got we got, we got Beyonce, we
got NFL football, Mavericks play. NBA done on Christmas. Got
the Lakers too, we got Golden State.

Speaker 2 (47:37):
Everybody. Everybody's playing.

Speaker 6 (47:38):
All the big teams are playing the big names of
playing NFL is gonna kill them.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
But big but the big dogs are playing too. Ex
The bigger dogs are playing. Yeah, you got teeth and
you by bark, but the NFL bites.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
I can't have Hey for chrisp Be, Happy birthday to
Jazz back there. They make things run for Clarence Hill,
Jesse Holly, catch their work at All City Dallas. I'm
gonna be scrugs. Merry Christmas, everybody. Christ Medium Bash is out.
