Speaker 2 (02:11):
You wasn't here when I popped that over there. I'm saying,

Speaker 4 (02:18):
There, pop pop pop popping out over that too, pop pop.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Playoffs are coming up, baby number one Oregon Ducks.

Speaker 7 (02:53):
You feel good about it, feel great about it, feel
good about them up and take them down.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Let's go hard road.

Speaker 8 (02:58):
Who cares go?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Love go, loving it, loving it from the Ducks man
loving it, loving it, loving it, loving it cowboy. Locker room.
Everyone was in there today. What was your takeaway? First?

Speaker 8 (03:11):
I was actually in this podcast studio while locker room
was going on. So move on to Joe uh.

Speaker 7 (03:16):
We talked to Chouncey Golson, who's kind of putting together
a little late season run here, and we asked him,
you know, as an impending free agent, do you start
to go there? He says no, He said he didn't
even know that you had to. He stays in the moment.
You didn't even know you had to play college football
in order to get to the NFL. He's like, that's
that was never my thought in college. I was like, huh, anyways,
he's nothing about the moment. But it made me think
about all these free agents that they got there kind

(03:37):
of popping off a little bit here at the end.
I was thinking about Osa digie Zua. You know, what's
his contract going to be. Obviously it's gonna be double
digit per year at this rate, the way he's got
his third in the NFL and pressures right now amongst
interior defensive linemen.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
So that's kind of in my mind.

Speaker 7 (03:50):
When is how you're gonna be able to contain or
retain all these guys, including Chauncey Golson.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, you know, it's funny because that be funny because
there's so much talk about the momentum and let's fitish strong,
we're gonna carry it to the next year. How you
gonna carry the next year? And everybody gonna be gone.
It's roughly thirty players who are on on you. Even
if we bring the coaches down back, they're roughly thirty
players who are in the last year of the contracts

(04:18):
and most likely won't be here next year.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Rico dallads in the last year of his contract.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Brandon Cooks, you know, I talked to George Lewis today.
He talked about free agency and you know, he's he
wants to get paid. He he's reconsidered one of the
best uh Nickeer Corner of the league. There's a lot
of push for him to make the Pro Bowl of
Nicokeer Corner for the first time. He's I think he's
having his best year. He said he thought he had
his best year was in the midst of his best
year of the year. He got hurt a couple of

(04:43):
years ago. But but he's finally getting this his acclaim
and people are recognizing the type of player he is.
And you know, he got a new agent. He moved
to David Canter. Uh. That's DeMarcus Lawrence's agent. Uh. And
he's he wants to come back, but he also wants this.
He knows this is the last chance to get a
decent contract, you know, finally get a decent contract, and

(05:04):
you know he wants to get a good contract.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
Yeah, did you know what the kind of that one
thing he was talking about too he had good perspective.
He's like, hey, I've been in free agency before, and
when you wanted, it's great. When you're not wanted it
it can be a little bit of you know, a
wake up call for him. I think that he's going
to be wanted for this. He should he should be wanted.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Yeah, No, christ Tag is dependent on him getting that
Pro Bowl honor.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I don't think so. I don't think it should be
because just watching play this, turned on the tape, right,
and turn on the tape and and I listen from
this day one of training camp, there's no one who's
been better or more consistent, who's been out there every
day setting the tone, fighting you I mean, he was
acting a food in training camp, you know, feisty. He said,

(05:42):
that's all he's. That's all he's ever known. You know,
he's always been a small kid, undersized kid. People think
these too didn't belong and from little league football alone,
he's always been that guy who's in your face fighting,
trying to prove people that he belonged. You know. You know,
we talked about him and you know, and the kid
from the Troit Detroit Mont Saint. You know, he's been

(06:03):
I'm rong. Yeah, but that's what he is. He's a
feisty guy. And and and I'm glad he's finally getting
his credit and listen, I hope he returns because he's
one of the best guys in the locker room. Guy
who stands up, who's there every day, every week, win lose.
He's there talking and being honest about the team, honest

(06:24):
about the situation. So again, if he gets paid, great,
If he comes back even better for us.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Mh.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well, he's restricted, he's restricted.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Is he is Haffin restricted?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Coffins restricted? He's restricted?

Speaker 8 (06:35):
Yeah, So one day Thomas Cavante, Turpin, Marquis Spell and
brock Hoffman. Those are your restricted guys going to the Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
And interesting.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
The question though, is do you put my first round
tender the second round tender, you know, whatever, how you
restrict that, that depends on how much money they'll get. I
don't know if any of those guys, if you need
to put the first round ten or any of those guys,
because I don't know. I don't think anybody's gonna give
up a first round pick uh to sign them, you know,

(07:04):
but it was the second round or one of us,
I don't know, but then that that that's the question.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
If this was interesting from a Bobby Belt who was
using Jason from over the caps projections for restricted tenders
currently projecting a first round tender's seven point two nine
million dollars in five point two one seven for a
second and then three point one.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Eighty five for the first refusal.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
So with those kind of guys, you kind of wonder
where they would end up landing in those kind of
tender spots. Tur Turpin is interesting them get tendered though
necessarily turpens the possi.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
That's the one I think is like interesting.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
But yeah, you don't want to lose Turbing. Yeah, because
of the weapon. He is special teams and he's actually
given you something receiver you can build on that you
don't want to lose.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Turb Yeah, and you know, Jerry, in terms of investing
in a guy like this, that's just it.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You know, people CAPBO said they're not gonna spend, but
they gotta fill out the roster again, Like there're thirty
guys who are first round you know, who are don't
have contracts next year, so they have to replenish the roster.
And that doesn't even mean going out and getting players
who are difference makers. They have to replace the roster

(08:09):
number one because they're losing a lot of guys. And
and we haven't even brought up o the old Diggie
zewea and and and guys like that.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Who Okay, okay, thanks for listening.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I'm sorry I got caught up in the chance because
the Chauncey thing. It's funny. The idea that Chauncey didn't
know you had to go to college to get the
NFL as.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Lives in the moment. Man, he lives in the moment.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
There's a player for the Jets who didn't play college football.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Well yeah, but right, but he was in college. Okay,
he's in college playing college football, Jordan, I'm talking about
Chulcey was in college playing college. But he's seen guys
as a fresh draft to get draft back.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
You've heard it. You see you see that. There's pictures
of them all around.

Speaker 9 (08:47):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
He got to Iowa. Once he gots to Iowa in
high school, he's like, I don't know how you get there.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
He was in the moment in Texas State, they got
a wall NFL guys in Texas.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Oregon University's got that.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I just, I just I just don't get that comment.
It was funny, Yeah it's funny. But but anyway, so yeah,
it's it's one thing to say I'm gonna bring back
guys and re sign guys, but some of these guys
are gonna cost money, you know, if you want to
keep him in the problem. Last year lost a lot
of depth guys because they got decent contracts. You know,
the guys that went to Washington, they got decent contracts. Well,

(09:24):
Osa gonna Oa ain't gonna come back for the minimum. Okay,
you know, and here's the guy you need. You know,
you should want to bring him back, you know, Jordan Lewis.
I'm sorry, you could say what you want to buy
seat belt and everybody else. I want Jordan Lewis to
be a part of my let's I want Jordan Lewis
bill that corner especially. We don't know what's going on

(09:45):
with DIGS you no matter how digs next year.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
So let's go around the movie.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
We we all agreement that Osa and Jordan Lewis are
two guys lined up to get paid.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
If you're Jerry and you can only pay one of
the two.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Who do you pay? I think even the price aksing
me too much.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Clans.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
I mean it's definitely, oh so because of he's overall
you know, because of the position he plays. But I
don't know that it listens. I love Jordan, I don't
know if he's gonna get big money, he's gonna get
better money, you know what I'm saying. What's big money?
You know what I'm saying, Like the kids that went
to Washington and get big money. You know, they're not
gonna get no life changing you know, no Dak Prescott,

(10:26):
no Ceedee Lamb, no no major contract.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
You know the market.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Yeah, they're not resetting the market. They're gonna get good
money for them from where they came from and so
and I think that's the same thing with Jordan. He's
he's a nicker corn nick don't get a They don't
get that outside corner money anyway. He just wants to
get He just wants to get better than the minimum
and what he's been getting. And we had to play
on you know, so what number is just like Rico?
You know, you look at Rico, what's I mean, Rico

(10:52):
is playing well, but what's Rico really what's his market?
Nobody's gonna give me Rico a eight man. He's not
gonna get a ton the pot the contract. I don't
care what he does.

Speaker 8 (11:02):
I mean, if he rattles off to one hundred yard games,
you could you can make the case that he doesn't
have a lot of mileage that.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
You can make a case.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
But consistency only one year though, untouchdown.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah, I just don't see him getting eight million dollars
a year.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
I think in terms of defensive linement, I think Zach
Allen is a good case study for Osa Diggi. Zua
is a guy that you know, hats similar pressure numbers,
a little bit different position. But Zach Allen's getting sixty
million dollars a year. Are you paying sixty million dollars
a year to Osa Diggi Zua? Can you afford that?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
No?

Speaker 7 (11:33):
Yeah, So that's why I think the reality of OSA
is he's gone.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
What did the guy from uh Detroit get the defense
a tackle?

Speaker 8 (11:39):
What?

Speaker 4 (11:39):
McNeil?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Yeah? Uh?

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Off the top of my head, I got it, I
got Is he better than yeah?

Speaker 8 (11:45):
I would say so. I think different different, He's better
in the run game. He's also biggers. You do at
the end of the day, is an undersized three tech
at two hundred and eighty pounds. Right, crazy to say,
but that's that's the reality.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
And that right there in itself will change some of
them are because you're going to have some people who
are like, no, I want I want big people here.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yeah, oh so won't fit it. So that'll be that'll
be an interesting thing. But you only need one. You
only need one team that believes it.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
But yes, he will be scheme fit issues for certain teams.

Speaker 7 (12:13):
Would McNeill get four years ninety seven million, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah, I was. It gives that kind of money.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
He's gone absolutely.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
And also I do think interior pastors ability does play
well on the market.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
But would you pay I mean, you say, one page sixteen,
would you would you pay ten?

Speaker 4 (12:26):
I don't think he's going to take ten.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
I don't know, I don't know. I don't know what
the market is going.

Speaker 8 (12:30):
Would you take ten from the Cowboys cap perspective for
if I'm the Cowboys or osa?

Speaker 4 (12:35):
No, yeah, you're the Cowboys Under ten? Pretty well?

Speaker 7 (12:38):
I think even twelve. But I think now you're getting
into a Harry situation. Though, the more you exceed from that,
And I don't think this is going to take less
than that.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
The thing I think about his depth as well. Who
plays three tech? If if Osa Dizu.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Is right, you you don't have a three tech.

Speaker 7 (12:52):
Well, the whole defensive line right now. If you take
out Osa, you take out Chaucey, it's you take out
win Ball, who's a free agent. You know, you take
out Carlos Watkins. Who's your defensive line?

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah? Yeah, car And sometimes we we overrate guys because
we close. We don't really know what the market thinks
of Oslo.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
But I think history would tell us and the current
salaries would tell us he's going to do well in
the market.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah. We I mean, what did uh my boy gave
watching the defensive end?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Durrance?

Speaker 7 (13:25):
Yeah yeah, I mean I think you got a year
low right here?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
I got a two seconds eleven bill.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Right, Maybe that's the Maybe that's the market for eleven.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Yeah, here's another question. And we talked a little bit
about to send the players nown yesterday. We're talking about
some of these moves. Who's the coaching staff?

Speaker 4 (13:54):
That's a great point too.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Well, again, this is my thing. If you move off
from this coaching staff, who you're gonna get and who's
gonna because the goal is not just to get to
the playoffs, goal to get the Super Bowl. Okay, who's

(14:16):
gonna come in and take this to the teams of
the Super Bowl if you don't change what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
Freatency Callen.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
So you called him the baddest. See what I'm saying
this is you. You. You started this right, greatest bad
was saying saying that what I'm saying, I left. You
started this. That's the greatest. Over there.

Speaker 1 (14:43):

from Cincinnati having dinner with a dude from Cincinnati, and
Clarence was over there talking talking up Texas and the
guy says, oh, you're there in Texas.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
The Yellow Rose hears the time of.

Speaker 8 (19:45):
Rosires Yellow Road.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Basically there's the yellow Rose claims knows about that too
in hostage.

Speaker 8 (19:50):
But the most trusted yellow red Rose.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
These days you turn off on yourself. Hey what are
you meet me? And I was red roll yellow Rose.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
So it's basically clans Hill a classmate of Earl Campbell
of Texas.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
And uh, you know we're not doing this. Claires did
not go to Texas.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
In the seventies, late seventies with the Earl in the eighties,
but yes with Eric Metcalf. Eric Metcalf is a classmates. Okay,
who else? Who else was there?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Those those Claires Hill Claris Hill Era, did you work
for the paper then? Did you work for the paper.
I didn't know. I'm asking. Okay, so who eld you
come besides Metcalf? Who's the quarterback? Guardian Peak? Pete Guardier?

Speaker 6 (20:40):
Who?

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yeah, that's why Pete Guardier was eighty eight eighty six.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
I can't remember the quarterback. We have some bad quarterbacks back, Okay,
it's okay.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
So I'm sorry, Nick, Sorry, I'll try to mention rappers.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
You know.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
What what?

Speaker 1 (20:57):
What? Where do you start?

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Sorry?

Speaker 10 (21:00):
Sir?

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Where sir? Niggas here, niggas down.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
To see where do you? Where do you start?

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Like?

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Where do you start at? So I have a reference,
and I mean jay Z.

Speaker 8 (21:09):
The start is murky because I do know eighty stuff
and Eric being rock him but you you threw a
cool j out. I wasn't really listening too.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah see I love Eric being ll all that right there,
curse I bop all that. So that's not that's that's
pre you. That's pre you, And that's okay. Back, where
did you pick it up at?

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Where? Like when I was alive?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
When you like it?

Speaker 8 (21:29):
It was little Wayne that was the first thing thrown
into my ears five year did you see Travis Hunter
Holden did not know who Little Wayne?

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Was until like his.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
See that, I see that. That was one kid.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
So so where do you start, little Wayne?

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Where do you start your little Wayne Way? Okay, I'm right,
I'm not you're not participating.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I'm not touching the Travis Hunting.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
And girlfriend Fance.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yes, I'm not touching that, except you just did.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
He's driving, driving the party and party sitting in the car.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
That's brutal. It's good man. So Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
Tampa Bay favorite, Tampa Bay favored by four points in
this football game.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Here the Cowboys have had issues at home. Oh yeah,
this is Sunday night football. The world is watching.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
What's your faith in, Mike McCarthy in this crew being
able to find a way to pull this game in.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
That's a good question.

Speaker 8 (22:31):
I don't like it personally. I look at this offense
for Tampa Bay. This is a really good offense. You
look at the schedule that they've played. You look at
their record at eight and six, this is not an
eight and six team. In their first ten games, they
only played one opponent that is not currently in the
playoff picture right now, Like if the season end of
the day would be in playoffs, they only played one team.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Those first ten.

Speaker 8 (22:49):
Weeks, they go into their bye week reset a little bit,
get a little bit healthier, and now they've rattled off
four straight wins. This is a really good team. Mike
Evans is getting healthy, Jalen McMillan is starting to figure
out his role in the offense. Bucky Irving is starting
to figure out his role as a runner in that offense.
He's really talented, some of the best field vision in
the NFL. This is an offense that I think will score.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
It will on Sunday Night. So I don't I don't
have a ton of faith here.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
Yeah, it's kind funny because I think we talked about
the Cowboys things out. Yeah, we talk about the Cowboys
figuring things out, and then it's like, oh wait, there's
a team that's actually figuring out a team think things
have been good teams like Tampa Bay is right now.
So I mean, I don't have a lot of faith personally.
I think that offense is gonna be too hard to handle.
I have I like Baker Mayfield a lot. I don't
do you like Baker Mayfield? I like I think he
I think he's a good quarterback. We know why you

(23:31):
don't like, Yeah, that's why, Yeah, attack Lake Travis. Anyways,
I think Baker's good. I think they have a chance
to light up this defense. But Cowboys didn't get after
the quarterback like they kind of did against Carolina Big if.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
You know, correct me if I'm wrong. How many people
thought the cowboy would hold down the Bengals, now that's fair.
How many people thought the Cowboys defense will hold down
to Bengls.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
I didn't. I didn't have no faith.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
I think so or at that time. I don't know
that there's an offense still hotterer than the league, than
the Banks because they come up to the Cowboys down.
They put up thirty again this week, right, you know what,
I know, we know how well Tampa Bay's planning. I
don't know they're playing better on the offense than the Bengals.

Speaker 8 (24:19):
They just played the second best defense in the NFL
and put up forty.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Yeah, I know, that's just that's tough. That's tough.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
I know, second best.

Speaker 7 (24:28):
Statistically, Yes, I think the Bengals were more Joe Burrow
and Jamar Chase.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
I think Tampa Bay has got a lot more options.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
Fourteen that lost Chris Gotlin and had other massive injuries.
I do believe this is one of the most underrated,
not the most underrated coaching job in football this year.
Most people have picked Atlanta to win this division and
Todd Bowles, you know, every year with about people on
the hot seat, Vegas put the odds out.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Todd Bowles has done an outstanding job here.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
And that's a really good stat that you put up
here about teams that they have played this year. This
is not an eight six football team, which I think
last year one of the underrated jobs. And we found
out the end of how good it was. Was Matt
Lafleur with the Packers and where they ended up, you
know at the end of the year, even though they
lost to San Francisco, they gave them everything they wanted them. Yeah,

(25:19):
Tampa Bay is a kind of team that I wonder
about depending on the matchups they get.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
What could they do in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
I think Todd's are out standing football coach and Baker
Maybehill's playing really good football. And you know, you talk
about the offense here. They lost last year's offensive coordinators,
the head coach of Carolina and they're still they're still
getting it done. There's just not enough set about the
job the former former Cowboy assistant coach is done.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah, and now they're talking about this offense court that
are getting a head coaching consideration as well because what
he's done. And I was just trying to look at
what the numbers are defensively, you know, another thirties right past.

Speaker 8 (25:56):
Defense, rush defense a lot better rush.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Defense hunting at eleven, but their thirty ranked pass defense.
And I don't know if passing the ball is how
you want to make a living with. Coopers had a
good game last week, But you want to be able
to be balanced and want to be able to run
the ball and then give it my options to throw.
But it looked like you know, ceede lamps to be
able to make some players against this pass defense.

Speaker 7 (26:17):
Well, this is a good test for that run offense too,
for the Cowboys too, because I mean, if you look
at who they've had success against, Yeah, they've been on
fire recently. Right, Well, Bengals run defense ain't that good,
Giants run defense ain't that good. We all know Carolina's
run defense is not good. Now you have a kind
of middle of the pack run defense, I'm assuming, So,
I mean it's kind of a good test to see
if Hey, can you actually stick with that philosophy of
running the ball to open.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Up the pass?

Speaker 8 (26:37):
I believe the thirtieth actually Tampa Bays all right?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Never n well, And so I think I put the
Bengals game two weeks ago as a test and say,
if this, if this is momentum the Cowboys putting the
good beat the Bengals, And as the Cowboys get ready
to continue and talk about bitter momentum winning through the
last four, well.

Speaker 8 (26:57):
My bad, they're thirtieth in pass defense. It's eleventh and
rush year.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
But what I'm saying is, so if they've won through
the last four, okay, and everybody's feeling good and talking
about right, then well this is another test, okay, because
if they lose this game, they must like to lose
the next week in Philadelphia, okay, And so all that
moment no doubt, But if you want to continue to

(27:26):
really build, so if you want to make what you're
doing and success legitimate, because I think Jerry was accturing
on the radio and he said, yeah, we feel good
about what we're doing, but who were playing? Who we beat?
You know who we beat? You know you're talking about
earlier the season, they lost to Baltimore and they lost
to the Detroit you know. Yes, the only team they've

(27:47):
beaten they had the winning record is Washington, you know.
And I'm talking about in this last momentum push. You know,
I'm talking this momentum push that were talking about. So
if you really want to legitimize what they're doing and
how they're better, be one of these good teams.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
And that's becomes a challenge now that Diggs is out
for the year. So you're losing a good corner, you've
lost over shown a good linebacker. And yes, it allows
you to beat Carolina, but I just don't think it's
going to allow you to beat a Tampa Bay team.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
That said, I wouldn't be shocked if the team ends
up with ten lens.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yeah, it wins this division, and well they should the
division's band, right.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Right, So then you've got said Tampa Bay, then Philadelphia
got Washington. I just think that's just these three these
these are three really tough football games here. And then
of course, you know we're tking about matchups. How do
you match up with you? This is not a good
matchup for them, And with all the injuries and things
that they have. Not trying to say it's an excuse,
but you're just not going to.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Be surprised, right, And that's all I'm saying is that
if you lose this game, you could lose out. I mean,
everybody telling about winning. Now you know, you lose this
game and it's at home, and then you go to Philadelphia,
and then you got that game because Washington, I mean,
you could see we lose out and all this talk
about bringing McCarthy back, it's gonna be gone out the window.

(29:12):
If you lose out. Nobody's gonna be talking about how
well you played with all your guys to talk about
you lost out. You lost out, and there's six and eleven,
you know. And so that's why to me, this game is,
you know, talking about the points of the Cincinnati game.
This game is important for how you finish.

Speaker 7 (29:32):
Is this the most winnable one they have left? I
know where they already be, Washington and say Washington.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Washington conceive because you beat them already. But again you're
you're talking about if you have nothing, if you really
have nothing to play for, and they're playing for the playoffs,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
So here's here's the spin on that.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
What if they don't have anything to play for at
the end, that they're already locked in and where they're at.
That's that's where I can see if possible, you know,
you could possibly beat them, because if DQ and company, like, hey,
we're locked.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
In first about DQ and them ain't gonna try to
come and lose twice to the cap was they want
to go in the playoffs with some momentum. But also
they the Washington ain't trying to get swept by the Cowboys.
They're gonna have momentum to play.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
For Clarence if he's locked in, Philly's already won the division,
and you're locked into where you're at, why are they
going to go out here necessarily play their guys just
to say we beat Dallas is Dallas week.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
I think that they're gonna be in a tough spot though,
to even clinch it right now. I mean, if you
kind of look at the teams building up in that
wildcard race, it's I think it might be a race
down to week eighteen.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Yeah, the wildcard race probably will be down there again.
Nothing good come good good confert losing you got to
play the next week. You want to feel good about
yourself going into the playoffs, you know, winning games. I
can't see them punting that last game.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
You're seeing their owner won't come down during the middle
of the game and go tell the coaching staff.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
To pull out. Some players.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Don't see their owner doing that. That owner they would
do that is no longer there.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Yeah, he was never in a position to do it.

Speaker 8 (30:58):
So imagine Magic Johnson just coming down from the hundred
Bucks being like, hey, I ain't.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Gonna be there. No, I mean, we're way ahead of ourselves,
but I just don't. I mean, it's still person would
quin them though. I mean, they want to win this game,
Joe Whitnam. They ain't trying to lose twice to the Cowboys.
Some players that are from the Cowboys that are there,
they ain't trying to lose the company. They want to win.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
They're going to play if they're going to the playoffs.
You know what's the most the board thing the playoffs healthy? Well,
you know what not to let play out. That's that's
been the beauty of the season is letting it all
play out. Kirk Cousins is finased, someone else it's diving
is just uh paying over paying guys here Jerry's talking
about and Steven and man, the money will be tight
next year. But you know, you make bad mistakes like

(31:48):
Kirk Cousins, it can hurt you. We'll do it next

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Dabo's go ahead. Something to say about that?

Speaker 4 (34:35):
What you gotta say about tab having These are.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
The games that Dabbo somehow magically went. I picked Texas again.
Let me down last time, Luther King, They let me
down last time. I hadn't win any SEC championship. They
don't know what you're talking about, clean, So you're trying
to put Dabbo down a different way because they don't.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
They don't know what you're talking about. They don't know.
They don't.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
They don't try to tell you. They know about l
they don't know about they don't know about Dabbo. You're
inside Dabbo jokes, DeMarcus Lawrence, does he?

Speaker 2 (35:09):
I mean?

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Is that playing this week?

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Was done?

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Reading to come back now?

Speaker 5 (35:13):
That was my other question is do you come back
for two games because you need something on tape and
you just say, man, I'm done and have we seen
the last of him here?

Speaker 8 (35:21):
I think it'd be a different scenario if this was
an eight and sixteen rather than a six and eighteen,
you know, maybe have something a little bit more to
play for, like a playoff hunt or to get ready
for the playoffs. But this is just not that reality
for DeMarcus Lawrence. This is a this is a very
complex injury that he dealt with on the top of
his foot. You know, it's not as severe as what
Jordan Lewis dealt with a couple of years ago to
this list, Frank, but it's it's tough to recover from,

(35:44):
and it's nagging, and it's it's a situation where you
don't really know you're back until you're back.

Speaker 7 (35:48):
So yeah, I also think at that point too, when
you come back for two games, if if it's such
a complex injury, and maybe things are not healed all
the way right, and you go out there and you
put bad.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Film on tape.

Speaker 7 (35:59):
Now you're three years old going into free agency with
bad film being the last thing that people have on you.
So I think you might as well just let your
you know, production speak for itself, fully heal and head off.

Speaker 4 (36:09):
Into the sunset. Well he's not heading up to the sunset, okay.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
But speaking of business, Hall of famers and and demarket,
Lawrence is Is is savvy as any of them. He's
not coming back and putting hisself at harm's way because
there's nothing to play for.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Have you've seen the last of them in the Dallas
Cowboy uniform?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
I don't know, Because if Chauncey is gone in free agency,
you still need numbers at the end. I mean again,
it depends on how much you how much you're paying him,
how much. I mean, he's not gonna take a minimum deal,
But what's the market gonna say. You know, he's a guy.
When he's healthy, he's still one of the top run
stoppers in the league. How much and you know, you
could talk about his age, but you can also say, well,

(36:52):
if you're gonna pay him, then won't you give him
You won't give Chauncey the money gonna give him?

Speaker 8 (36:56):
Could you get Chauncey and Carl Lawson for the same
price as he would get for tomorrow? I don't know, yes,
and you probably get those two guys. I think there
was a reason they took Marshall Niland in the second
round last year.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
It wasn't just you and you got Sam coming back
and all this stuff, so you got number of them.
Just saying that that that with Chauncey. I think again,
it's what you do with Chauncey and would happened with then?
I mean, if you're not going to have chance and
you still need numbers at the position.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
I feel like we've seen I feel like this is it.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, and I think he's like it. Yeah. I feel
that way, you know, because he may want to go
to he might want to go to Washington, he may
want to go to a contender.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
It also feels like because it's the market for him
is an unknown. We I don't know what a thirty
three year old coming off of Liz frank injury is
gonna do on the market. I mean, obviously to your point,
so one of the best run defenders in the NFL
whent healthy. It does a contender say, yeah, I will
overpay for one year of DeMarcus Lawrence to come in
and help with our run defense potentially. But if he doesn't,
I mean, how do how do the Cowboys look at him?
You know, I don't know, It's it's an unknown Frankly.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
I remember when the Cowboys cut de Marcus Ware because
thinking that, you know, he wouldn't worth the money because
he was injured and he got certainly got healthy. Denver
gave him a decent contract and he wouldn't at a
couple of good years, you know. And I think I
don't think he's as old as the Ware was at
that time, because look that up ya. But he still

(38:17):
got fire in his belly. He could still play. And
the sad thing about it is this was really his
first off season when he didn't have an injury to
recover from, and so he came out the last season,
came into this season feeling good about himself where.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
It was two years younger, Yeah, younger.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
I think I look at him at this point in time,
you're dealing with the injuries, and you've drafted, you you've
got younger people. Go let these guys play and try
to get some you know, try to find a cheaper
type of production, which is basically what they're telling us
they're going to go do anyway. So I don't expect
Zach Martin back, I don't expect Tank Lawrence back. I

(38:54):
think these are the a lot that we've seen them
play their final games as Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Right, And you have to look at the future too,
because Sam would next, you will be Sam last year.
It was a contract too, you know, so you know,
he gets one year and he's and if he has
a good year, he's gone too. And so you know
you may need to I know you got Neeland, but
you need more than Neeland you got. You might need to,
you know, dot down with Chouncey's playing as well as
everybody thinks he is, and we think he is. And

(39:20):
and again it's it's what the market says, and I
don't know what his market's going to look like.

Speaker 8 (39:27):
I'm just glad they figured out he's a damn edge.
He is not a defensive tackle, correct.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
I'm just glad we.

Speaker 8 (39:33):
Came to that conclusion this year. It took a long time,
but we got here.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah, you're you're correct.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
There's there's so many different questions that they have here,
but we've seen how this game goes when you play
on that on that defensive line for Tamas. I mean,
your body only has so many hits in it. And
that's what I think about what the Marcus Lawrence. It's like, hey,
you know, you look at that man, you had a
heck of and knowing and going back to when he

(39:58):
was drafted, Hey, we're moving on from DeMarcus where we
see a guy here we're gonna move up for in
the second round. We're gonna get this guy. And you know,
from what they wanted him to be. I think I thought,
I thought he had a productive ten year career, that
was a successful draft pick. But you know, after ten
years on the d line, you got to move on.
And and yes, I think he says he wants to

(40:21):
play and then he should go look for a contender.
But I just think that it's you gotta let it go,
you gotta go get younger. You got to try to
rebuild this football team.

Speaker 7 (40:31):
I could see a contender over paying for him too,
because if you kind of look at the way the
NFL's going, Yeah, the running back position has never been
in terms of lower and value from a collective standpoint,
But look at some of the elite teams. They've got
really good running games. And when it comes to January
and February, you're gonna have run footall. You're gonna have
to stop the run. And I think that his ability
from a mental standpoint to read and to be able
to knife in and make plays and run defense is
something that plays really well with contending teams specifically.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
And when you know, again we also when is he
gonna be healthy? You know, will he be healthy, ready
to go past physical do all this stuff by March,
you know, depending on where we are in this rehab process.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
So is it your opinion that Jerry is held on
the guys too long?

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Hm?

Speaker 8 (41:10):
I mean, historically speaking, I think that answer is yes.
I think there might be a desire these days to
try to rectify that. I think that's why they let
go of Tyron Smith at the right time, which has
proven to be right. I think we could be trending
towards a similar situation for a guy like DeMarcus Lawrence
or Zach Martin. But I think this offseason will tell
us a lot about where they stand on how much

(41:33):
they've been burned in the past by maybe letting letting
guys stick around a little bit longer than they should.
This is gonna be the off season that kind of
tells if they have a shift in thinking there or
because they bring those two guys back, then they are
risking the fact that they could be hurt week one
and not play the rest of the year, and you'll
be paying them quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
Of money to playing training camp.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (41:49):
The other thing iverythink is extending guys early too.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (41:51):
I mean you can get guys cheaper usually from you're
in house that you're extending that probably shouldn't be extended,
and then there's a reason though it turns out you
probably shouldn't have extended something.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
I'm gonna let you brought that up because it's this
talk now with you know, I don't be anywhere to go,
but with Michael Parsons and his contract has come up.
Michael Parsons, get it, cowboysonn out recently, there's no difference
between thirty and forty million.

Speaker 11 (42:16):
Was like, if I'm Jerry if the Cowboys are smart,
put a thirty million dollars contract on the table right now,
say sign yeah, college bluff right now?

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Why not put thirty million, get ahead of it. Let's
get this deal done. Let's get that cap number down,
and let's not carry this thing through the off season.
Since there's no differ between thirty and forty million, and
you don't need to be the highest paid player. Put
thirty on the table right now.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
We need headlines.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Let's sign that contract. Has not carried this then to
the off season. Let's get it done right now. Michael
said he don't need to be the highest paid player.
He said, there's no different in thirty forty million. He
wants to want to contender, he wants to retire his
number in Dallas, he wants to win. Let's do it
right now.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
And Michael say, you go talk to my guy, and
what's this?

Speaker 4 (43:04):
What's this guy? This guy's gonna say, hell.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
We need to wait till that.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Let me let's let's get this done. Mike, you brought
it up. Let's go.

Speaker 5 (43:13):
But now you're asking him to do something we never
we haven't seen him do. The last time we see
Jerry gonna act act real quick with a with a
star player like this.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
Right, they should have done with the CD. We knew
what the market was. The market was Deck. Don't wait
till August. And that's all I'm saying is that let's
not make this protected negotiations all the way through August
and Trey he don't show up a mini camp anyway. Okay,
so you're gonna pay him. You say you're gonna pay him.
Let's get it done. This don't need to be wait.

(43:42):
Don't wait until August and September, and make sure when
you're paying you put in this in this listen, infinigate
his money. We're gonna make it the highest paid player.
I need you here for off season. I need you
here for the O t A S because I'm gonna
make you the highest paid player.

Speaker 5 (44:00):
If there's a different coaching staff and that that's gonna
be something that needs to happen as well.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
So we'll see. Tell about the way you find you work, sir.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
All City, Dallas, DLS DLS, All City, Dallas.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
Yeah, four Star Telegram, read the paper.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
