Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys This is.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Media Match, a roundtable of Cowboys insiders trumping wisdom and
offering sizzling takes on the current state of your Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Now your host NEWI scrugs. Here we are.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
It is the media mash going into the cowboys second
to last game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles,
who in first place. Got Jacques Taylor. Here you have
Clarence Hill. I am new he scruggs you. We are
committed ones. This is so what we do.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
That's what we do.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
We show up day after after Christmas Day holiday. Were
still working, still working. The Cowboys are still working. We
were in the locker room today and Michael Partson was
in a good mood. Why not got a golf cart
for Christmas?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Where you get it from? Girl?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I had to ask that question though the girl gave
me a health cut, but he.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Said, he said, she got me a golf carter, and
who is she?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
That's that's that's that's the way, young reporters, that's the
way you follow up.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Put out my lady, make a public.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Just don't invite them into your relationship her my queen.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
For what kind of follow Hey, have you ever seen
the CD lad video?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Did you ever have to do that?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
That's still a classical.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
I mean the way he just I mean he took
it so small ass, but that just shows you how
good his hands are, how quickest hands are, how strongest hand.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's just like when the ball come in here does
flashing to the last second, he just say things she touches.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
I mean, most trusted. I want you to do to
do behind the scenes on that one will day that
history right, Yes, it really would.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
And then what happened and we got to.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Talk to the girl in his horror history? What's going
through your mind when when he snatched it back?

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Where is she now? What was she looking for?

Speaker 5 (02:15):
I'm not dude, I'm glad you brought up CD Lamb.
I'm glad you brought up Michael parts.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Telling can you do that for the draft? Because the
draft is coming up. Cowboy's gonna have a pick, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
And I'm glad you brought up City Lamb.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Glad you brought from Michael today.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Yes, and it came up because there's a chance that
he may not play he's having a great season. That
he didn't practice to day, Jerry said, we'll see how
he feels. Certainly he's labored through some things. He hasn't
practiced a lot over the last month.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
But it was a little different this week because he
didn't even talk to the media for the first time.
So there's a chance he may not play. Uh, but
you know, it's just Thursday. We'll learn on on you
tomorrow and Saturday whether he plays. But it's a good
chance to take stock and who ced is and what
he's done this season. And Michael park I probably had
the quote of the year on CD. You know, he

(03:03):
said several quotes of the year. Yeah, but you know,
and since he said, I looked at my toda he
said he basically says, see thes QB proof. You know,
he might be the best player that I've seen him
own eyes.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
He's the man. He loves the game of football.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
I don't think anybody should ever question how much CD
brings to the team or it's it factor.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
He's QB proof.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
I've seen him get a thousand with and the Dolton
to get a thousand with Dak Prescott get a thousand
with Cooper of Rush. He'll get grace to all these
other receivers and say, oh, they're not producing it because
they don't have their quarterback. But CD is showing time
and time again he could do with anybody throwing. He
can find a way to get open. He's competitive, he's
a dog. I just don't think he's comparable. That's why
I think he's the best.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I see.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
That's also a perceptive quote, not just kind words, but
also said I really understand the game and what it's
all about and how, yeah, your guy can be missing,
but the best of the best can still figure out.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
The way get open.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
And I think it took him some time to figure
out how to coexist with Cooper Rush, because those first
three or four games were like six for thirty five
for twenty two, and then he finally figured out how
what routes worked best for them and how they could
make it happen.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I remember talking to Hall of Famer Tim Brown and
he said to me, sometimes as a receiver, you gotta
make the quarterback. And Tim was obviously that good because
he caught some passes from some guys. Billy Joe Hobert
said a word.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
No, no, no, and I don't want to jump on you,
but you're right, And I got Keyshaw and his famous clothes.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
I ain't bugs money. I can't throw it in kitchen too.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Wet, all the bums out of play with you know
he played with some bums you go down.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
And this proud.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Money, I can't throw it like a cartoon.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
You know, I missed him chats with I remember the
time Keithshan told me he was the best overall number
one pick since peint Man.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He probably got a part of view to prove it.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
He believed it went through it if you went through it.
And then I hit him with what about Orlando Pace?

Speaker 6 (05:11):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
He alignment? Man? We talked about skip is this guy?

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Shut up?

Speaker 7 (05:15):
I don't care. Don't this man going to Hall of Fame?
This man you talk about? You got a Super Bowl ring?
Orlando Pace got a super ring Hall fing. I did
to tell me the time Kishan, you're not but you know,
but he didn't want to hear it.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
But yeah, I said, man, this, this this guy is
brilliant man, and then changed the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
At some point we're gonna have to discuss an all
time favorite locker room people to talk to.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Boy, because we're old enough to have been around, we
will have a good saying.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I mean, you know, I mean maybe people you've heard,
you know, I mean there were big time players that
maybe players who was not quite as big time.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
To put the podium. You know, who's who's who's who's
who's on the podium the bronze medal, silver, medal, gold, now.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I mean wrong.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
And and one thing I like about Michael because he
wants it, which, as I said at the time, which
I got in trouble with the Michael, with the Micha
McCarthy thing, is he was trying to give us something.
You know, he really cares about any things, a deep thinker.
He was trying to give us something. He said too much,
but he was trying to give us something. And that's
what Michael. And then you get that you remember, you

(06:20):
remember back to the day they knew when they said something,
that's some good stuff right there, you know.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
They stop you, Yeah, hey, you get that down, you know.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
So I'm just saying though that I remember, Yeah, they're
me in the middle of quotes, you know, patting themselves
on the back of what they just said to me.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Michael Michaels Michael.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
But yeah, but but what I'm saying is that's that's
how Michael. And like I said, what Michael was trying,
and he does it. He's a great talker, you know,
and he does sometimes it goes overboard, but everybody can't
hit the home run at back, but he gives you
want to be there and listen to him talk.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, it was He's good. But we've been spoiled, The
three of us have been spoiled because we got.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
But I'm just something this day and age though, you
don't get guys that are like that though, you know,
and they they try to be a minimalists and they
don't try to say something, they don't try to get
in trouble. And then you know, you know, Mike just
he speaks it just like today you were there to day.
We were asking Mike, and I asked a question about
Mike McCarthy and I said, you know, are you happy

(07:22):
that he's not trying to to tank tank and he's
playing to win and in the attitude he's trying to
he's not trying to run guys.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
He said, it's us. Look at us, were trying to
play the win.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
You see, we had nothing to play for last week
and guys gave it all, so he don't get a
political yea, Mike doing the good. You know, he says
what's on his mind, what he thinks, the same thing
about Zimmer and they were talking about, you know, he
was asked about Zimer with Zimmer's on.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
He said, not as us. You know, we've learned and
it's and it's the whole locker room.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
And he said, and he's right, Zim Zimmer, don't scream
no more, you know, because everybody thoughts Zim will come
in dog cussing and screaming.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
He talks above a whisper. You know.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
He tells he just lined up guys, and it's the
other coaches's the players.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
It's a collector.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
We give Zver the credit because he's coordinator, but it's
all of the guys who have been a big part
of this revamping of the defense.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Agree. Agree. I think that what Michael says is something
that you'll hear the great coaches talk about, Greg Popovich,
Bill belichicks.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
It's the players. Players got to set the tone. I mean,
even the great coaches, it still remains the players must
set the tone and carry out your wishes and carry out,
you know, help establish the culture that you're trying to
set as a coach, which is why if they're not
doing that, you get rid of them and get guys
in who can help you carry out your coach I

(08:44):
think the other thing you gotta understand as we get
older players come in or younger. The guys on this team,
a lot of them have grown up in a cell phone, Instagram,
text era. They're not even you to talk it because
how do all these conversations and group chats and texting
and for them to sit down and verbalize and have conversations. Really,

(09:07):
it's not something that they do on a regular basis.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
That is a fair point. We are dealing with different
types of athletes now and then with kids.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I mean the way these people grew up, these kids,
which is like our kids. I mean the same thing
you have. What time my son about a week ago?
Not a week ago, it was really about a year ago.
He sent me a text What is this? Because he
got all his acronyms in there. I'm like, I don't
mind you texting, but send me complete senses though that's
all I asked.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Do a voice, no, tell me exactly what's in here?

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yeah, yeah, understood, because LK, I don't want to think
that fast, that hard.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
My thirteen year old's into that now. So I'm luckily
I've been able to break down.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
From the other two.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Most of the other two still send sentences, but the
youngest is trying different things and stuff like that. So yes,
I get it. But I I one of the things
that we talked about MVP and Michael Parson. I said,
you talk about your podcast, trying.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
To try to get give him some content.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Yes, and so right right, so then he he you know,
and then he pontificated what he said when says he
like to talk, so to pontificate off that he's gonna
go Joe Burrow, So, yes, guys want to talk on
the podcast.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Libertarian vote, I mean it's not gonna affect the fire.
I mean you're gonna vote. Vote, vote for Lamar, vote
for Josh. Don't be casting these votes and somebody get
four hundred and twenty seven votes.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Just vote for candidates as matters.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
This man, he said, Joe Burrow got a bad defense.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
He does.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
I'm in fantastic this year, said look at Joe's numbers.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Man, He said, Joe Burrow is surprised me. He didn
say the guy in Buffalo, Josh.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Allen, Josh Allen and Lamar. I mean statistically they just
nigked Nick.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
Well, Joe's up there too, is what he said. Yeah,
he just wanted he just got a bad He got
a bad defense.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
That is his fault.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
And he's right because you don't take can account how
much all of that matters. He scored over thirty points
a game and they lose because the defense is awful.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
How many how many MVPs pistol pepe berivers get average
in thirty seven points a game. The team gotta win.
It's not fair, but it's what it is.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Yeah, but but it's the overall conversation about is it
about the best player or the best player on the
best team, And that's that's what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
That's what he was talking the best team, right, But.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
That don't make it but right, but people make it
about the best player and and doesn't necessarily like last
year Lamar.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
He talked about it.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
He didn't think Lamar deserved it last year because Lamar
had a triple crown defense.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
You can smile, but he's right.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
I'm trying to forget who he voted for last year.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
He probably voted for that.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
He said that that had better numbers, you know, but
you know, and you could have gave it, Joe, We
could have given a lot of people last year. But
Lamar's numbers this year compact last year, they dwarf. How
many numbers off the charts this year? Competitor last year?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
And they still lost five game somehow.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah, but his numbers off the charge.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
But but but the defense this year is not nearest
good the defenselast year.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Last year's defense was he said, a triple ground defense.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
They let the league in yards and points and everything else,
and that made a difference in their overall team success.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
And what's funny it is, ain't nobody talking about Pat
Mahomes and it's fourteen and one team.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
No, because his numbers are bad, But his numbers are
appriestly worse than if it.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Was in the if they was in the same category,
be a different story.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
And Mahomes is also I talked to him that last
podcast player, Mahomes is your victim of your own success.
You have really points well, you know, you didn't do
the year we did give it to you. You did this,
this and that, so we're not gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
But again it's his numbers are bad.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
But what's the bottom line that we talk about all
the time.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
But at the end of the quarterbacks but at the
end of the day, you have to you still have
to put up comparable numbers. And if somebody tweeted the
other day, the Kansas City was one of like five
teams who have not scored thirty points in the game
this season.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Everything has been a great defense.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
They wanted to like five teams.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
The other five teams like three in like the Giants
or whatever.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
They're all bad.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Teams except kans City. They're fifteen to one everybody another.
The other teams have not one more than three games.
They have not scored more than third. They have not
scored thirty points game one.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Time this year.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Now, you know, it's interesting about all this.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
That's crazy though. I know what the they got.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Is that that's a very good conversation. And if you
poll the players in the NFL, as we're talking about
who's the most valuable player, you said you down five, you.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Going pat No, there's no question about that.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
But but but it also speaks to the larger point
is another third defensive, their defenses. Really they have not
given up. That means the other team has not scored
thirty points either. And you know you were talking about
the Cowboys and Men, how many times the defense couldn't stop.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
A nose bleed.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
I mean that that plays a role in how you
play quarterback and your ability to win games.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
When people know you got to pass. Joe Burrow knows, Okay,
guess what, here comes the heat and you're getting it done.
And there's definitely something to be to be said for that.
I kind of go back to what Randy Galloway had
used to talk about when he was a calmnist here
in town. He said, there's no winners on losers. What
do he do is his MVP body? Randy Galloway just

(14:11):
thought was if your team is losing, I can't give
you an MVP. Some people feel differently, but that was
that was his his thing.

Speaker 8 (14:19):
Name.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
We're gonna talk about to break.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
I'm sorry, we've got breaking new CD Lamb is out
the next two games.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
I think that was the next two.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
Yes, his injuries progress to the point he's listened out
for the many two games.

Speaker 10 (16:35):
Back to media, mash Mediam Mash brought to you by
nobody here on a Thursday.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
We are at the Star at Frisco in that s
WBC podcast studios. He's Jacques Taylor, there is Clarence Hill
and new We scrugs, all right, some breaking news you
did last second, but redo it again, Redo it again, sir.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
Yeah, the Cowboys just announced that Cedee Lamb will be
out the final two games of the season. We just
were talking about CD, and I felt that way when
the way talking turned to day about CD and Michael being,
you know, so giving him ultimate praise about him, and
certainly you talk to uh Cooper Rush. You talked to

(17:19):
Mike McCarthy about CD. You know, he didn't practice today,
he didn't talk to the media today. In the past,
he's even he hadn't practically limited practice. He talked to
the media. But the scans on CD's shoulder have determined
that his injuries now progressed to the point that it
will be listed as out for the remaining two games
of the season. He will go under a process of
treatment and rehabb for his shoulder and not currently expected

(17:40):
to require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
You know, he's fought and played valiantly. I do believe
that if the Cowboys had something to play for, they
may may have made a different decision. But what's the
point of having him go out there and jump that shoulder?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
And he talked about, you know, heard the worse.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
He talked about how painful it is, and you saw
every time he gets hit, every time he gets tackled.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
You know, he's done Yeoman's work.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
There's nothing more to prove. And I think even just
in our conversations with Ceedee Lamb and when he's talked,
it has bothered him what people things, people have said
about the money and everything else. But Ceedee Lamb is
more than proving himself. And I I could argue, and
I did on the last show. I think he's the
team's MVP.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
I don't think you got argue, but okay, time on
offense defensive, the total team had the kicker.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
That's what Hector. Harrison sat in that chair and said
the same thing you did and said the kicker. And
I said to me, it kind of reminds me of
baseball when you're gonna put a picture on m v
P where you know somebody's getting out there playing every day.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
I mean that wasn't you say a starter? I said,
he's more like a closer or right.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Right, But you know, Ceedee Lamb is making the plays
and getting down the field. You get the course again
the quarterback situation. You got no help on the other side.
Even the person you thought was going to help a
little bit. Ferguson has not had the year you thought,
and hey man, we getting double doing all this. He's
hurt to me when when I look at Cedee Lamb,
to me, I don't think there's anybody who had a

(19:17):
better season with all the circumstances and everything in him.
Brandon Aubrey is a fantastic player. He's going to make
All Pro at his position. But to me, when I
think of MVP of this team, give me semb And I.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Think that's part of the conversation because I think Brandon
Arberts had the better season. Now, MVP valuable what you've
done for the team. I see the case made for
CD Lamb. But as far as the best player at
what he's done, I don't think a few player in
the league who've been better than Brandon Aubrey what he

(19:49):
has to do the game in the game out, and
I think he should be the first team All Pro
kicker and all of that. But when you talk about
most value, and that's what we get to talk about,
who's having the best season, who's more value but player,
which we were talking earlier about the quarterback, I would
not argue that CD has been the most valuable.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Because Brandon ain't kicking no field goals if CD ain't playing.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
And I started to think, here, here's Mike McCarthy possibly
could save his job if CD Lamb. Hey shoulders out
tapped me out, you know for three four games ago,
probably not any position to even win these games. And
I said, you know, Brandon Arby's lining up kicking some
fifty eight yards and whatnot. But it's it's not because

(20:34):
Jalen Brooks. It's because Lamb.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Maybe because of Jalen Brooks and Jalen Toba.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
This week about to show us the Eagles without CD
Lamb because he opens up so much and he was
such a part of you know, last week.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Even if Jalen Hurs don't play.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Eagle stefense still pretty good.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Okay, allegedly, I'd just like to ask the questions.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Yeah, joint stickers, offensive courding.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
I mean, we can't talk about it. If Jay Len
hear don't play when you without DK and the CD
and ask the question, I agree, I understand that, but
we're not gonna get them no grace, you know for
their injuries. When the Cowboys our pros are sitting on
the sideline.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
You know.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
But if and I don't know if it's gonna happen,
I mean, it's gonna be a tough game. And you know,
it's one thing to get up last week, you know,
right after you find it another thing to go through
this week and go to Philadelphia in this nasty weather
to get up and play and and have the same
Now you without at least the most reliable weather, all
the things you could count on, the modes and Cee lamp.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
This is a tall order for Cooper Russi, the quarterback.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
And you remember last week that office was certainly different
than the second half.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
The first half. Once that script is out.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
You know, three points in the second half.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yeah, they couldn't do anything.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
And that defense safety and it's gonna be and Mike
and really the biggest and listen, and I think Cooper
Rush said about it today. We talked about QB wins
and everybody, you're talking about you got to be able
to win Cooper Rush because asked them, well you're eighting
three or eight and four at the starting quarterback.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
He says, so that Kooby wins. That is so.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
Messed up because a lot of it has to do
with the defense, a lot of to do turnover, a
lot of they play a role in us winning games,
and and so they're you know, the Quby wins status
is out of wack. I think people are finally waking
up to it's more than this an ultimate team game.
And just like last week, Cooper Rus's had a good
first half, second half office sch cooul do done.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
It was a defense that won that game.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
But Cooper Russ gets to win, and everybody tall, well
he's fout free four and one and start the last
five games.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
You know, and you know that people.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Don't see they you know why we need to pay that.
You see what we're doing with cool Russ. It's a
it's it's larger conversations than that.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
And it also goes back to something Bill parcelsalt about
we covered him here bus drivers, and it's not you know,
and it's not a it's not a put down. Yeah,
but you know Cooper Rush is an undrafted free agent
from Central Michigan and he's he's done the work and
carved out a place in this league which has to
be more than respected. But Cooper Rush is not a
guy that you know, coordinators sitting up at night saying

(23:02):
we got to do this. This is you're not preparing
for it.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
He was a free agent once and went.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
To the Giants and came back and he had, you know,
people all hell he was five and one, this or
that and I've said these people and nobody signed him.
You know, you know what he's done for all this,
you know I'll be okay without that. Idh'm like, yeah,
nobody signed Cooper because there's some certain folks say he
doesn't fit what we do. He fits here and he's
done a very good job with what he's had. But

(23:29):
he has to have and is around him to win.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
And and.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
As Edie Burdy said a long time ago, and then
one of his specials, take the wheel, go to Google,
you know, take the wheel, you know, take the wheel
this week withour cit Let's see what that pasting game
looks like.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
You want to impress me.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
Let's see what you look like with our cit and
the and these go through three hundred this week and.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Throw them two hundred this week. It's gonna be tough.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Jail and Tobert show us something.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah, this is this game.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
I call it turpentine. I mean, go make him the
focal point this week. Just sweep some you know, deep,
some slants, some poles and whatever. Man let the man
play this week.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
And I was talking to I asked.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Jordan Lewis about you know, the Cowboys and not making
this about developmental young guys still trying to win. Say, shoot,
we've been playing with young guys all year. You know,
we're playing rookies all year. You know, because all the injuries,
they've been not having to plit their young guys out there.
So the only really change that you can make it
say it's gonna be about it.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
It's that quarterback. But who else you're gonna put out there?

Speaker 4 (24:39):
You've been putting all your own.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Everybody else's been out there all year long playing if
they if they got a pulse and they could do something.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
They've been playing and getting developed.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Right right, which is which is another credit to to
what this coaching staff has done. But you definitely have
h it's a tall order now man, so ceedee lamb
out and who knows who else may be out? Did
Eric Hendricks practice? They haven't sit down to technic for

(25:07):
you yet. Okay, but that's you know, just the task
to finish the season at Philadelphia and at home against
Washington is hard. It is hard. So this team last
week against Tampa Bay on Sunday night, that may that
may have been the final win.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
I mean, I would think, so I didn't think it
was gonna get that one.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
So well, we didn't think it was gonna get that one.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
So I mean, you never know, because I thought, yeah,
I really thought they were losing that game. You know,
we all did, you know, So so you can't count
them out. But I understand and because you know Washington,
I don't know, does Philly have anything the playoff position
they have the second seed or they locked in they
you know Minnesotan's twelve and two not but but the

(25:50):
division winner came. If you don't win the division, it
can't be the second seed. They may be locked into
the second seed already.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
But but yeah, they're better than the other two.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Most definitely. So I don't know.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
In Washington, I think we'll be playing for a playoffs
by Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
But that's what I thought based off what you said.
That's why I thought jaalen Hurst might not play this week.
But yeah, Washington will definitely be playing for something, So.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
SABEEDI the National Football League, they have they have done
a good job of making it interesting towards the end,
and even for the Cowboys who are out of playoff contention,
things are going to be interesting. Who plays, who goes
about their business. And you know, Michael Parsons still continue
to rack up the sacks and looks for Clarence after
these games to let him know he's still that Lions.
He's got the golf cart. Now he's gonna get the

(26:39):
Lions put on the side. He does not own a
set of golf clubs.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
She bought him a cart with no clubs. Who maybe that's.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
Birthday, Michael, rest of all these people just got money,
just be mine stuff. She bought him a cart, and
he's going to decorate himself, tricking out himself. He's gonna
do the d on trick the card out. But she
bought him a golf cart. And now he said he
may think about taking up golf all right, Better better
than going to European and Asian offseason. I mean maybe

(27:09):
just being run you know, playing it, playing golf. He'll
be here for many Capital Jays.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
For sure.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
I'm just trying to I'm trying to trying to trying
to keep it local. I'm trying to keep local. I'm
trying to give him reasons to stay around, to stay around,
Michael Woods, get reasons reasons to stay around. But uh,
you know, it's it was a because I asked Cooper
of Rush because it was it was a lively Cowboys

(27:36):
locker room and we were talking to Cooper Rush and everybody.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Was in there.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
This is not a team in the dumps four team
that's out of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Say two weeks ago. This day, it's like a funeral,
it was.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
But when that's what winning does though, even if you're
out of it, and Georgian said, we like to win,
we like to play, you know. And I don't you know,
you want to be spoiling. It ain't about to be.
I don't think about this whole media. You want to
be spoiling.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
That's just one that was one dude.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
That's not media.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
It's fans.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Okay, Well, ain't nobody thinking about being a spoil. We
just want we out there playing. We want we want
to do our best.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Somebody I didn't radio, I didn't radio show this work
this week, and somebody asked me said, how do you
think they stay into it and want to go to
work and do this? And I go, don't you want
to go to work and have some personal pride and
do your best?

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah? I mean that's what.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
I just don't understand this whole line of course that
they're going to quit. And they're not quitter. These are
football players. They they competitors, their competitors. It's just it's
just like this week. You know, I'm at home and
you know so many people. Why are you going to
work miss football season? Why are you going? Somebody know
what you're going to work for the cowboy season? It's
not we got your game up?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
I mean, why are you going?

Speaker 5 (28:45):
Last night they called, we were at a joint friends out,
Why are you going to work?

Speaker 2 (28:48):
The season over? So I gotta go to work tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
Guys, Well it's not over for me, it's not over
the players.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
I like to offer my positives. I did ask we
had to show today.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
I mean, we didn't have one on job.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Now took we go.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
I didn't. I didn't get that message. I didn't get
that message.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
And he don't listen to episodes, and we talked about
it for a long time.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
I get that message. I didn't get no personal message.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Sorry, I forgot I better for next week. We're not
doing talk Tuesday, and we can't afford to be like
the other state. We can't say he do it? Can
you and Cooperstein come in and do the show?

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Well?

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Me and Big Joe gold vacation.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
But anyway, some of us understand we have to work
through till the season is over. Every day were idea
is the work work people, you're going to You're going
next week to the Texas game.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
That's the work.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
We Cowboys have practice on New Year's Days. I'm not
leaving to go to Atlanta in the middle of the weed.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
I go back to the last dance in episode seven,
when they were talking about Michael Jordan and bg rsh
I said, was he a nice guy? He could have
been a nice guy. And Michael goes through the thing
of you know what, my teammates all came after me.
There's a standard, he said, Did I drag some people?
Sometimes they didn't want to get dragged. Did I get
some ad when I had to? I say yes, because

(30:15):
I wanted to win. But you asked any of my teammates.
Michael Jordan never did anything. He didn't do anything. He
asked me to do anything that he didn't f and do.
And he said, I wanted to win. And some of
you may say, well, you know you're a bad guy.
I said, because you never won anything. Yeah, that's why
you feel that way. And then he tears up. He's like,
you don't want to play that way, don't play that way.

(30:38):
And what I took from Jeorge Lewis was that you
know what, We're here to play and win. I'm not
putting in all this time coming in here to go
out here and lose so there's a higher draft pick.
I'm going to be a free agent. Other people are
free agents. My name is out here. I'm not trying
to go get embarrassed on national TV. I'm a player.

(30:59):
I am here to get out here and do my job.
I'm not trying to let Davonte Smith go run past
me for seventy five yards.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Right.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
And I'm glad you about Jordan Louis because we talked
about c the lamb. But nobody's been a pit of
me of doing their job from the beginning of training camp,
throughout the season, injuries, whatever else, playing through it all,
coming off of potential career in the injury.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Then Jordan Lewis and and and last week was the
propect of them.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
That play he made, that interception he made was as
good as any play the Cowboys have made all season.
You know, you talk about spectacular plays. That was spectacular playing.
I saw in the locker room.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
And said, Jordan, how much have you seen it? How
many times? Linked they replay every day every time somebody
sent it because we talked him out the game, but
I was the game. We didn't get to.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
See it, but everybody been showing them clips and clips.
He said, every time somebody show up, they clip.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
I watched it. I said it was worth watching it
because it was a bad LP.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
We just heard elbow the week before, you know, and
and that was the army he wentn't brought the ball
down with but it was It was a spectacular play.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
But it was a pit of me. What Jordan has
been on this team, which is never giving.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Up one of the things Jacques claims. And we've done
this so long and where no offense to the fans.
But when you're in the room and you talk to
people every day, Chrispy, and you relate to this too,
because you've covered this team for two decades as well,
you're around football players, the mentality is different. And somebody saying, oh,

(32:24):
they beat Tampa Bay. They can't even they can't even
do their job right, Go get a pick. Nobody in
the room is sitting around thinking about a draft pick
because essentially, in a lot of ways, you and I
know what the players think about the draft. Here's my replacement.
Are they gonna take? Are they gonna take somebody at
my spot? Trying to sit up here and move up
to here, so you go get somebody in my spot.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
I mean this.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
They don't.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
They don't sit around and do that the way people think.
They're here to play. And when you have as many
free agents as the Cowboys have, dudes want opportunities because
whether they're playing for Jerry Jones next year, somebody else
in the league, they're trying to get a check, they're
trying to have good film. The agents are looking for
them to have the best tape possible. So going down

(33:09):
it gets Philadelphia, just laying down for no reason. It's
not it. They get beat. They get beat, but they're
not trying to go volunteerily not be prepared to go
out here.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
No, that's not on the check list though, No it
is not.

Speaker 4 (33:19):

but Philadelphia's got a couple of their own issues. Quarterback
Jalen He dealing with a concussion and Kenny Pickett dealing
with injuries as well. So we'll see exactly who lines
up for Philadelphia at one pm Eastern time.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
And Michael said, it's still F Philly in case you forgot.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Said F Philly last week and it's f Philly today.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
I did ask you. You got got some family in
the stands here going to the game because it's always interesting.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
It's ay closest. It's not for hour and a half
from his house hometown, I know.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
But it's still just uh those folks. I stopped going
up there, man, people, people up there, they're doing way
too much.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
Michael Parsons family from where from? They ain't scared.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
They got their same Philly mentality.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Okay, they're ready for about that life, the locked and loaded.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
Yeah, Mama go everywhere, Mama go everywhere. Ain't nobody messing
with mama either. I'm telling you right now, nobody. Ain't
nobody messing with mama.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
My sister lives in the city, brother love.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
I stopped going up there, man, man, Ain't nobody messing
with Barsar's mama.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
They told us, hey, don't wear your because.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
The daddy a little bitty I'm saying PARTA got partic
got all everything.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
He parsied from.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
The jeans, jumped the generation.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Side. Ain't nobody mess with parts of mama.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
So my sister took my dad last year to the
Philadelphia Buffalo game. Okay in Philly, So you know me, Dad,
I know you what you're wearing to the game my buffalo. No, Dad,
We're not doing that. Man. No, man, Dad, I know
you one step away from a black belt. You ain't
had a fight in twenty five years. Don't be wearing
your buffalo. Stif that had called my sister makes your

(37:48):
dad don't, he might sneak and pack it. Make sure
he ain't wearing that out there. I don't want y'all
in the scarf.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
So what did he do?

Speaker 3 (37:58):
He finally listened to to your son's judgment.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
Okay, look they told us, and I was up there,
don't wear your channel five year.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Not even the reporters. No, no, you you didn't represent
the state of Dallas.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
So not only that now, so now you know you
know where you're wear I gotta wear brown, wear black coat.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
Photographer Nobley takes the micro takes the mic flag.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Yes, And they used to walk through that long stuff
patch on the state. What's up?

Speaker 4 (38:36):
They coming? They trying to come for you? And so
I know me at this point.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
In time, I think it was worse that than other stadiums.
That it's still bad, It's not as bad as this statement.
Was it That old stadium crazy?

Speaker 3 (38:47):
And I'm not sure. As bad as it was that
the Raiders, the.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
Black Hole was fine. I was okay in the black hole.
Black Hole was fine. I didn't have issues in Philadelphia,
was you know, and I and I've seen some other
people not at a different level, man, So I just
you're not about to come up on me. And you know,
I was like, no, I need to stop going.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Some good vibes out there.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Say prayers for them and everything. But now I know
I don't. I don't want I don't want that.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Did y'all watched halftime yesterday?

Speaker 4 (39:20):
I did not, sir, you watched the game. I was
with my kids and just hanging out. Man, Sorry y'all
to have a game on TV, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
I didn't. Okay, you ever seen that the replays?

Speaker 4 (39:32):
I didn't see the replay and I was watching I
had basketball on and I know the game was on Netflix,
and yeah, I got Netflix, but I just had it
on Basketball and said most of I was just doing
doing that. But go ahead, clar you.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Watch it, watch some of it. I'm not I'm not
the biggest Beyonce fan. Like if I never heard another
Beyonce song, I just said she wasn't beautiful. I just said,
I'm not a big fan of the music. It's okay,
but if I never heard it again, I would listen.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
And as I said the other day this week, I said, shot,
I don't get it. What shot either?

Speaker 12 (40:09):
If God, im just saying if I never heard it again.
I walked out of a class.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
I was in a stretching yoga class and this lady
plays some some shot. Let me get up that what
he is?

Speaker 3 (40:32):
What he is, I mean, let me make sure we
clear is a beautiful woman.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
But I'm just not. She got a couple of tunes
and I stopped.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
We're not doing it. We're not doing this. We're not
doing this.

Speaker 5 (40:43):
But I'm sorry stopping, but I'm not sees it behind
Michael Jackson's next grade is entertainment.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
You need to stop it. You need to stop it.
You need to stop it. We're not going to do
better than Prince.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
We're not going to do this. Yes, yes, don't, don't don't.
I just can't sell out the team. She stopped, don't
do this, don't don't do this. I can't do this
with y'all. I can't do this.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
And matter of fact, it is a matter of fact,
she's much better.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about I mean,
Prince was like, yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
I'm not gonna do this matter. She's not. Prind not
we're having to do this. But you're not going to
be wrong. You know you're not. I cannot believe you're
doing this.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
And why is better?

Speaker 5 (41:30):
Performance was more? It wasn't just about the music. Is
about the culture of the putting down. She got your
boozie out there, she got all the black female country
stars out there.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
It's she had your boy. What what's the movie?

Speaker 4 (41:46):
What's what's I'm not I'm not.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
I'm not. I'm not fixing to do this with y'all. Yeah,
y'all are killing me right now. I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
It's so upset.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
So she top five?

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Can we can't we do the predictions? This is top.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
He talked about she had two I mean you know that,
you sir, I said she had a couple of test do.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
That because.

Speaker 5 (42:13):
She had a couple, said, that's the fat out lie.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
But because he's had a couple of hits, man, a.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
Couple of crazy couple. That's just a flat out lit
So you can't got it, said, I wasn't the biggest
black woman like this anyway, let's let's move on to
the big she's.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Going all there and if not, Jay Hope and make
sure she get this.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Let's not let's let's not do this. Let's get on

Speaker 5 (43:03):
It's gonna be cold either way, but Seattle playoff birth
you know it'll be more than sixty three.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
They got twenty to thirteen, Seattle twenty thirteen.

Speaker 4 (43:14):
Okay, upgrade, upgrade. Uh, I'll go Seattle twenty six to uh,
twenty six to fourteen, waterfall. All right, we've got the
Dallas Cowboys at that was not the wrong group. Philadelphia

(43:35):
three to two.

Speaker 3 (43:37):
That's my score for the Cooper.

Speaker 4 (43:39):
Can it be a Survivor's not gonna give up what
you got?

Speaker 3 (43:46):
Let me see, uh, Dallas and Philadelphia on the road.
Cooper Rush, no CD rain Rain Jalen Hurst is playing yet?
I say Philadelphia twenty one to six.

Speaker 5 (44:03):
Two worstes not been good at Philly against Philly. Uh,
he's played well, but he has not been able to
get over Philly and he will not have CDs, So
I just don't think the Cowboys will have enough punch
uh in this game, although our guy Rico Dalla was
rough one hundred yards away from top in one thousand
for the season, which is a goal of his. But

(44:26):
Philly twenty four Cowboys thirteen.

Speaker 4 (44:31):
Fourteen Philadelphia no CD lamb. Just losing bodies, losing losing
recipes is what it is.

Speaker 3 (44:41):

head coach at Delaware State started early Jean has started
a movement that.

I’m Gavin Newsom. And, it’s time to have a conversation. It’s time to have honest discussions with people that agree AND disagree with us. It's time to answer the hard questions and be open to criticism, and debate without demeaning or dehumanizing one other. I will be doing just that on my new podcast – inviting people on who I deeply disagree with to talk about the most pressing issues of the day and inviting listeners from around the country to join the conversation.
