Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Cowboys, This is media Mash,
a roundtable of Cowboys insiders trumping wisdom and offering sizzling
takes on the current state of your Dallas Cowboys. Now
your host knew, he scrugs.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Here we are media mash.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Everybody the Dallas Cowboys heading into a Sunday night football
matchup with the Denver Broncos. And it was another hot
day in the locker room to join us and talk
about it. Right now, We've got the Hall of Famer,
he is Ed Werder in the house. We've got most
trusted Clarence Hill in the house. I am merely NEWI scrugs,
So I missed them. Michael Parsons portion to go do

(00:49):
media mash here, So Michaeh. Lively live Wire today, guys
ed taking me from the top here.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
He spoke for what about twenty minutes?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, he spoke for twenty on the.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
General state native affairs and more specifically on his approach
to his off season contract negotiations, stating once again that
he does not have to make forty million a year.
He doesn't have to be paid as the highest defensive
player in football, emphasizing he wants to get something done early,

(01:20):
which obviously didn't happen with Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott
last offseason, and he feels like that was detrimental to
building a quality team. Wants them to use some of
the savings and the time to sign back some of
his current teammates and to be more aggressive in free agency,
not going to hold out. Says he'll be here during

(01:40):
the off season. Endorsed Mike Zimmer as a defensive coordinator.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Wants him back and says he's one of his sons,
another one of his daddies.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
They went to a dinner at d Lincoln Steakhouse nearby
recently and zim told him to put away the card
and in return for that, he got a public endorsement
from Michael Parsons stamps him as his defensive coordinator. That's
been a growing relationship. It seems like, Yeah, been kind
of interesting to hear Mike talk about it.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
It's growing because you go back to minicamp when he
hadn't talked to him.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Remember Mike Zimber, you know, he just kind of stand off.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Was a standoff initially and they was Zimmer was hazing
a little bit, didn't speak to him because they missed
our OTA's and you know, and Mica I haven't you know,
spent much.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Time with him there. Oh, Zimba was tough.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
And then they started going to breakfast and you go,
that was a training camp storyline at me for breakfast
and everything like that.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
But it was Michael unplugged.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
And that's why it's you know, when he was mad
at the meetia first of all, as I said, he
can never stay mad to meet.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Michael likes to talk.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
The likes to he likes that he has things to say,
and he likes to fill up our notebook, you.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Know, like he's like Michael Irvin right in that regard.
He's he's the first competitor to Michael Irvin in terms
of you're standing there at three o'clock in the afternoon
with nothing to report, and then he becomes available and
you got days of content.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
Yes, I mean it's crazy, and you know, there's so
much to talk about the contract. And then he was asked,
which is sure it's gonna go just as a viral
about rooting for.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Philly, and which he should this week.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Because Philly you need Philly to be washed to keep
all your hopes alive.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
But you know, getting the play, they.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Could be eliminated by the time they take the field
Sunday night against Tampa Bay. If Washington wins the game,
wins the game.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
So and he said, f Philly. I mean, I don't
know what we can use on it. He's actually said
the word. You know. It was basically because all.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
The fans and not the players, it's just the Philly fans,
and they come at them on social media. And he said,
f Philly, you know, and and so I'm sure that's
gonna cost Philly fans to come at even more.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
You're looking at my watch, Clarence and wondering why Steven
hasn't already announced he has signed Michael. I am even
the terms he just and lost.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I'm right.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
I was writing it yesterday and I held off and
writing today. They need to college bluff. Let's do the
deal right now. Get come on into the office.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I got a half hour. Let's get this set.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
The agent done. He said.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
They told Todd that was don't do between thirty and
forty million today. He didn't go down to thirty, but
he said he don't leave forty, Hen'll need to be
the highest paid.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Said like thirty nine eight, Yeah, what's it gonna take.
What do you think under forty is a good deal
for the Calvin It's.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
A great deal, he said. I'm gonna be here for OTA's.
I'm doing the whole Auvergate College bluff. Let's get it
done now. That's who's real. That's who who's not gonna blink.
The Cowboys talking about we tight against the cap and
all of this mumbo jumbo they've been doing. They held
down with Steve, how they did Dak and how they
did City. Well, Micah has a solution. He's offering a solution.

(04:45):
I'm gonna take less money. I want to get it
done early. I'm gonna be for OTAs.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
And like, I can't imagine what David Mullaga is gonna
think when he's agent whenes this, Like he's negotiating some
of the richest contracts in sports, including Sean Watson as
the only quarterback in the history of the NFL to
get a fully guaranteed contract under the most dire of circumstances.
And he created that market.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
And and and you know, and Deck said the same thing,
gonna need to be the highest paid play but let
my agent do the business.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
But he also said that they owe it to other
players to do right that you get there.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
And so I'm still and you like, now you got
to get you because when you get more money, the
next player gets more money.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
It lifts our votes and.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
The Jerry want. Yeah, you always think it's a bluff.
You don't think he'll really signed for this.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yes, it's a bluff. Come on, come on, come on.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Well he's not going to have the defensive player. He's
not gonna be top three and defensive player of your
vote for the first time in his career.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
And he said it's because he was he was hurt,
he was humbled, but listen, he said it was humbled.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
But I think in his absence, he really underscored the
his importance.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Right, thank you, because the return their.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Defense has come to life since he came back, and
he still leads a team in sacks even though he
missed four games. But since he came back, he ranks
first in the NFL with seven and a half sacks,
first in pressures with thirty three, and second with thirteen
quarterback hits. Now they've played a succession of week teams.
But still that makes the point.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Oh, then they hit up here on the stats.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
They said, since Michael Parson's return of the defense uh
in Week ten, the Cowboys have notched twenty four sacks,
the most of the NFL over the last six weeks,
and generated thirteen takeaways, which is third in the league,
which I think right there.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
By him not being there.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
That's in their release. Yes, you could take them with
their own release and say here's what IOI I want
thirty eight million.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Page one, page one. Right there, he.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Said he would take less than forty. Yes, said he
doesn't need forty.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
So when Micah says, I don't have to be the
highest paid, and we go back to what Dak Prescott said,
and then what Dak Prescott took, I come into the
mindset of what Jerry Jones once said, just.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Because I said it doesn't make it.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
Of course, just because you said that your agent didn't
make it. Taylor take that kind of strong all of that.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
I mean, that's not early. It's that's why I said,
take him up on his office. Now, let's do something
I president.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
I said, why why haven't the Cowboys agreed to terms.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
With Let's get season over. Let's get it done now
this afternoon. Then you know, and you get it done now,
you can detect the extra season on it, you know,
you know you want to be able to do that
for a Sunday the football game.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
But he didn't talk about the importance of playing with
o'diggy Zua, that he hates the thought of Golston being gone.
That you know, they've spent their whole careers here early together,
They've built something and he really can't imagine not playing
with those guys.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Yeah, but the reality is you can't keep them all.
You know, when it spent up, you're paying Mike of
that kind of money.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Again. They we've talked about this.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
They have roughly thirty guys who are free agents on
the last year.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Of their deals. Who is.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
It's not a fault, it's just a fact issue, you know,
And so they have to replace you guys.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, they have to replenish the roster.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
And some of those guys are gonna be Stevens said
it last week. They're playing well and it's too bad
for us. Good for them because they're gonna be wanted
on the market. And so when you're paying I don't
care what Michael takes less. You know you're not gonna
be able to compete for with teams for Osa Diigga Zula.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
If you're paying Michael thirty eight minus, well.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Then you're gonna be looking for two defensive tackles instead
of one.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
Yeah, but I'd rather pay a young defensive tackle than
an oldest slack corner.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Why are you Why are you doing this? Why are
you doing this? What are you doing? Why?

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Why are you just throwing Jordan Lewis under butler? Why
are you listen Jordan? Because it's the NFL and you'd
rather pay twenty six then you would thirty? I understand,
But why you why you were talking about when we
talking about defensive line and why he.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Didn't know Dad? Free agents?

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Why you just do more? Boy? Jordan like DoD Jordan
have his best year. He moved, Uh, he checks why
he needs to go get paid? He changed agents? What
the David Canton?

Speaker 4 (08:57):
He tried to get paid inside outside you play?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
He's at his place for he's getting he's getting mentioned
for Pro Bowl.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
No, it's lock corner.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Canna have to brace up his elbow this weekend to play.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
I got a young dotty take care of right. I
think he's at his best year. I think it's been
the most.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Probably won't be ready start of the year, be compromised.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
No probably.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Oh he's a doctor and an accountant.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
The most trusted.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
No.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Probably.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
And that's not saying do you like uh like gallop did?
I don't don't feel.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
Right, I hear you, But it depends on what the
market is, you know. I don't know what Jordan won't
get on the market.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
I'm just saying in general, in a young man's game,
I'd rather pay twenty six year old defensive tackles defensive
ends on the run, on the come, than I would
a thirty year old cornerback. That's right, right, and depends
on the market.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
I don't know what. I don't think he's gonna get
to me already signed.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
That's an option, right, you can sign guys their contracts
are up.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
You can sign him right now. You got all that money,
your care and.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
To sign him six months ago, Yes, it is.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
It is confusing, but I definitely think that when you
got the news last weekend that dig was out for
the year, and then they later on came and sitting
there it could.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Be eight months, eight months.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Then did more which which, of course you know which
man Geordan losing his agency.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yesterday's price is not the days it went up. But
I want.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
To see Jordan signed of Detroit, go back home and
then have to fight alone Saint Brown and practice every.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Day and go play for another five big corner. It
might be a head coach, Aaron Glynn might be a
head coach, but.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
I just might be a good place to win a
Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Ring what I'm saying, you know good and they've had
some injury bad look late to see that we thought
they were riding and hide they were.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
They just got You know, that's the nature of the NFL.
It's not always the best teams, team that avoids those
catastrophic injuries, they win.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
If Dan Campbell can figure it out the way McCarthy
did the year he won. They had a boatload of
injuries there. Even in that Super Bowl game ended.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Up losing, losing guys.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
But but they want mean look, Rashard menden Hall changed
the whole game with that fumble. The Steelers were playing
good ball and very much could have won that game.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
But that was it. And then it was was it
driver that went out?

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Which is the receiver they lost, they lost one of
jennings Are drive was one of the two they ended up. Yeah,
in that game, and anyway, Aaron, Aaron played well the
second half, but but Pittsburgh turned the football over. Definitely
changed that game. And that's where you know, you go
and if you look up and you google with sharp mindon.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Hall, Pittsburgh fans depressed.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Fans like and nailed, like you lost super Bowl and
he's like lived with it, and yeah, he's he's been
depressed over that. But it definitely definitely changed a football game.
But Mike always we do the walk offs. Mike consistently
talks about that year and how many guys they lost,
and and that's where Detroit is right now.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
How many guys play that year, Like seven some guys
on his roster played that year.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Right, So that's gonna be and obviously one of the
better coaching jobs.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Well, and here we are talking about forget depth. We're
talking about the importance of depth. And a minute before that,
we were talking about the Cowboys losing frontline starters. How
can you have depth if you don't even have your starters?

Speaker 3 (12:20):
And Mike once again, you know, he talks about, you know,
working with young guys and his experiences from Green Bay,
which is I think kind of into we can get
into this next segment of where's McCarthy at now? And
how do you look at these next three football games?
Your last three games were against defenses that weren't any
good to the Giants, the Bengals, and the Panthers. Now

(12:41):
you're stepping up here. He could conceivably lose three games
that will not be favored in any of these three games,
how do you look at it?

Speaker 4 (12:47):
And two of them are at home, but there are
all three of these opponents are playoff type teams, like
they're all competing for the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Two teams in first place, the other ones in second
place is behind one of the first place teams.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
We'll do that next with Clarence Hill. All City Dallas.

here talking about the team. Jacques Taylor, ed Werder, Clarence
Hill on New he scrugs, all right, practice reporters out,
Hall of Fame, what you got, Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I'm gonna do it and bring it down.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
All right, Well we've got in terms of guys who
are limited today. Well, let's first talk about Eric Hendricks's
did not practice and hasn't practiced this week. I know
there are issues beyond his injuries on a personal basis,
but I would expect he would play, would you not, Clarence.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
I expect you'll play it.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
And Mike said ear the day that most of the
guys would play that are limited.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
You know, I.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Guess limited, Jalen Brooks limited, Hu Maydoga limited, Jordan Lewis
has told us he'll play braced up on the elbow.
Mazzie Smith didn't practice yesterday, limited today, Janier Thomas limited,
not going to play this week, and then everybody else
was full. So a relatively healthy team for this time.
You're given that you don't have your quarterback and all

(16:18):
the other players that they've lost their all pro guard,
who amazingly has not been missed to the degree you
would expect somebody of his stature.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
That says a couple of things.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Somebody was giving me all kinds of hell about that
at the time, me only asking the coach.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
And then you ain't missed them at.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Which which, in fairness to Zach Martin reflects not only
how well Hoffman has played, but also also how yeah,
his injury was affecting his performance.

Speaker 6 (16:49):
But now we're gonna get different at twenty seven dolls
off the books and go with the young guy.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Trusted. That was interesting that Overshon had serted yesterday.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
I'm saying, we're talking about, well, you talk about what
you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
I'm talking about were talking about what new he wants
us to talk about.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Was talking about injury report, I'm talking about injury A
little fight still over there, just saying he trying to
start something. No, that was me trying to start something.
But uh, what you appointed me.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
The garden or in the office line situation?

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Since you's wrong about it. I don't want to dress off.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
They don't have to speak badly about an all pro
to say, hey, the guy was struggling to say. I
don't want to.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
I mean, can ask you a question. But I think
it's interesting. I don't know that I believe. I don't
know that.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
They would not be having the same brushing numbers with
Zach Martin against these bad defense didn't faith less.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
That's kind I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
We already talked about they played three bad defenses andree
bad Russian defense. So find out this week we'll find
out something. This week is interesting because, yeah, we'll find out.
We'll really find out how good Brok Kaufman is this guy. Yea,
let's really find out. Yeah, yeah, we'll really find out
where these guys are. And it's funny to me because

(18:16):
there's so much talk about the momentum and.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
What they're carrying. I think this game.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Is a watershed moment for this team because if they
lose against the Buccaneers, and I fully expect them.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
To, and they could be eliminated before they even take
the field.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
As we said, I think they lose out they're losing
that feeling. And then you got to Washington team that's
playing with a playoff births. Uh, we might be seeing
Trey Lance start, you know, is.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
That what it takes?

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Probably, But even then, I.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
Think that if there's all this momentum, and even if
you know they do, what are you carrying its thirty
three eights?

Speaker 2 (18:54):
They know, ain't no momentum. Care in the next year.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Half these guys won't even be here if not more.
With so many free agents, but uh, they really could
lose out.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
The coaches are invested in winning with some of the
players might.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Not understand even the coach.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
But my point is if they lose out, all this
talk about Mike McCarthy coming back won't be the same
as six and eleven.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Right, you're looking at it through a different lens. Of course,
they're looking at it one way. Now it could be
a whole different way more losses from now.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
That's what you know.

Speaker 5 (19:25):
It's funny to me because five weeks ago you were asking,
you're gonna fire the coach in the middle of the season.
You know, I've never fired a coach in the middle
of Seamon One. Fire coach the middle of the season,
in the middle of five k lose treat They were
in two games. Hey, it's a chance you can bring
them back only one two. Now you know, we still
gotta losing record. We're still in the throws.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Three out of four and.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
Now three out of four, but we're still six and eight.
And now you know, man, they got this one and
we can bring them back three gay in three weeks.
It could be a whole another scenario. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Your courts his fluid. Somebody must Yeah, that's why you
play all the games.

Speaker 5 (20:01):
It is, it is, But yes, bron Hoffman is playing well.
I don't know if we need to put away the
annoying oils. That's all I'm saying. There's a ceiling on
what this office line is. And we'll see and.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
We'll learn a lot more this weekend in the next
couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
So on the practice board, Chimundoga Limited started left tackle,
ended up getting injured and then had to come.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Back in and he played guard when he came back in,
can pick get on the field?

Speaker 3 (20:28):
That was my next I saw him in the locker room.
I didn't get it. I had to come and do
The players decided to get to come up, come chat.
But did he talk? Did he say Anything's he going?
Tyler guy? He didn't talk to talk.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
We were all talking to Mike. He was available.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
There's a cast system, you know, it's a cast.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
I mean he's talking.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
I remember, No, I remember early you know, first round
pick early camp you're running to him, you running him,
running too early, seat running. You know, you want to
get some person. He you know, has not talked a lot,
but ain't nobody clamoring to talk to him either right.

Speaker 10 (21:09):
Not me.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
If there was going to be a line, it wasn't
starting with me.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Last time I talked to him, we discussed pedicure.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
You know, it's in the same thing with with Z.
You know, ain't nobody running trying to get some flags.
Now it's a when you don't play well, the media
that you know that the top.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
Well, actually it's worse than that, because sometimes if you're
a good plan but you don't play well, we asked
questions about well, how come you're not playing?

Speaker 2 (21:40):
That was early with Z. Now we have apathy towards you.
Now we punted on Z. Is my point. Early on
Z we threw run the Z. We could ask him,
you know, get on the field.

Speaker 6 (21:51):
My big point is this apathy. It's not even that
you don't care, You have no care.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
At the height of.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
His powers, remember after a game, he'd be the first
to talk, you know, right in the locker.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yeah talk and yeah, there's no there's no demand. First
got to talk in the locker room.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Now after the game, it depends Jerry.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
The first is throwing up, Jerry is talking before my cards.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
I'm just letting you know, Jerry in the talk period,
I said in the locker room.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
I'm generally with Mike, but I would say that based
on it used to be Zeke and I would say
it's CD talks, you know, Michael, I don't know they're
the first one, but there there there, they're consistent.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
It depends on the winner of the loss. Yeah, it
really does.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
Yeah, but you can get Jordan anytime. You get some
of the defensive guys anytime. They're always available.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
After San Francisco was overshown. Yeah, I mean you get
some of the guys over will talk, you know in the.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Locker I thought that was Diggs didn't Digs out and
talked to Michael Leslie.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
First about these nuts.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
I wasn't at the game. I'm just asking that I.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Had my phone, just like Leslie mild Well. He knows
how many people have viewed that.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Video to him and Jesus boy Cross themselves out.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
About his teammates. I forgot.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
Michael spoke highly of Digs today.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
They did.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yeah, he was defending his Trayvon Diggs today about people
being critical of him and maybe not knowing what his
responsibility he did. He did suggest he's not always maybe
as engaged in a play as he should be. But
he also said he's he's built from the same he
comes from the same competitive cloth as Mike.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
That's one of his closest friends. He also called him
Toots in camp.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
I called him Toots.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Because his lackadaisical attitude and style. He called him Toots,
and he talked about it. You know, he maybe's body language.
They always the way it is. But here he was
even after practice, he was going and going somewhere down
the street.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
He couldn't name it training camp.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
You're doing extra work.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
On his own, not with Night but not with the rehab.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
Guys right outside.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
You're winning them, baby mamas, I just asked, I need.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
I will say this about Diggs for people who you know, we've.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Seen social media where people have questioned his toughness and
things like that at times, and I do remind people
he did play for Nick Saban and was on a
championship team.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
That's taking a step further. You can't be in the
NFL and not be tough.

Speaker 6 (24:36):
They are varying degrees of toughness, but there's everybody in
the NFL has a degree of toughness to them, or
you could never get it.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
They're all tougher than the ordinary citizen.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
I mean, it's insane with the people. No, no, no no.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
But I don't think that the issue is not toughness.
This issue may be work ethic. I mean, I think
we're talking two different.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Things about what we get on social media. That's what
I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Get yeah, because if you haven't been blessed to be
close to the sideline and heard that thing and the
NFL game, well it's sound completely different than the high
school college and how.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Fast you can't even get out of the way, which
and they're not coming for you and you still can't
get out of the way.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
That was me when Lamar LaVar Arrington hit Aikman to
the last time in his career, like let me get
out of it.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
It was it was incredibly fast.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
But my thing with Diggs, just for the people know
who were saying those things, I would just want the
man played for Nick Saban at Alabama they won championships
and playing that on the other side of Patrick's or team.
You're not going to start at Alabama play as long
as he did and do that if you if you can't,
if you don't have any toughness about you or you
can't play.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
He just it just it's it's just doesn't happen.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
But tackling in the run game, in the run game,
for him, it's kind of like it was for Dion.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
That's all that people are talking about.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
It. Had a pretty good career.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
He made have been a decision. Hey man, it's okay.
He get the ball. Yeah, he does get the ball.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
The talent and you know, I I advocated for them
taking Digs in the first round. He's got him in
the second round. But he was a player that I
liked and I thought he could could help out. And
he's had He's had a good career. What's the what's
the old t DJ thing with eighty twenty? You're sitting
around here. You got the eighty twenty. He got the

(26:22):
eighty you love, But you're sitting there here mad about

Speaker 2 (29:41):
So the little breaking news real quick.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yes, from the NFC's looks like there will be no
new RFK Stadium. The new bill say you know you've
been at old RFK Stadium was rocking and used to sway.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Like that where Steve Walsh got to win. And one.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
Nikki from Washington post a new bill no RFK Studium
underreal duty Battista.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Good lord people. Okay, so more fat acts field, more
more affair because that place is a dump. I stopped going.
You know, I remember when they first opened, they used
to fill that thing up. Yes, okay, and now they
got banners over the seat and cover it. They cover it,
I mean they, I mean it.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Was actually removed the actual like concrete banners over seats anymore.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
They removed the concrete. I mean, it's it's crazy.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
I mean that place used to be full when it
opened up, and now it's it's it's a dump.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
It is it is.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
I stopped going into the press box and rain one
day and just start raining on my papers. I'm trying
to write take notes like yeah, I'm good. And then
your man, your man Dan Snyder the time serving hot
dogs and you turned it over and it was like
a pink line thing. I was like, yeah, I'm not
eating that. And then I remember they had a bad
grade on the food hospitality because they like went around
all the stadiums and they had a horrible So I

(31:01):
started going to a local grocery store bringing my food
to the game.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
And then I just said, you know, wow, that pressed
the lead. Yeah, so I was like, you know this, this,
don't they have that done well?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Mister Schnyder is now gone. That's true, but the Washington
Commanders are contending for the playoffs, and the first year
of new ownership, a new head coach, a rookie starting quarterback.
She's like from Houston, Texas.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
I still missed the trip this year, so I'm good.
I'm good right now between between Washington and Philly.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
I let my man go. Don't even get those trips.
That's nice of you. I got the Giants.

Speaker 12 (31:37):
That's benevolent of you. Take New York City, that's magnanimous.
Hey man, you know I let them have Carolina this year.
You know normally my trip too. So I went to
boat Jangles. I thought about you.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Did you get the bone in the good? Of course
was good. I was startling. I got the plane and
went to be I met bow Jangles. There you go
down from C to B.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
This is the kind of stuff you talk about when
the team six and eight basic dirty.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Right dirty Riceles then, actually, because my plan got delayed
on Monday back when he back at Bojangles and me
and a whole lot Bojangles doing brisk business on Monday
with playing delay, m yeah, I made.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
If Mike McCarthy loses these next three games, how does
he owner feel?

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Because now you talk to six and eleven.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Which would be the most games McCarthy he's ever lost
in a single season in eighteen years as a head coach.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
And he's thirteenth all time and wins right now, may not,
may not, may be stuck right there with Jeff Fisher.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
Well, I think Jerry's problem. I think Jerry probably would
prefer not to make a coaching change. It's a matter
of can he sell the fan base on that. But
I feel like if Jerry has a conviction about McCarthy
coming back as a head coach, then he should follow
his conviction.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Jerry, just sit on.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
This Netflix preview is bigger than bigger than just football.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
Probably doing this Jerry Netflix preview into this. I mean,
it's just talking about what.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Do you think they're six and eleven. McCarthy's calling the
plays on offense, they've had auge. You know, let's not
forget all of the embarrassing losses they suffered at home.
Let's remember they're one in six at home. You know,
it's worse than one and six at home Tennessee Titans
and the Giants. The Giants haven't won at home yet,
and Tennessee's as bad as the Cowboys are at home.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
I think Jerry's did it all on the radioshot of
the day.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
He put it all in perspective when he said that
don't forget who we beaten. You know, we're beating bad
teams and we lost a good team and don't forget.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
He also and that was interesting to me, is that
all of a sudden, he's talking about all the injuries
and McCarthy's kept the team playing hard despite all of that. Well,
they got a lot of veteran players who are at
going out of contracts. They're trying to get their next deal,
whether here or someplace else. And you got a bunch
of undrafted free agents who are still trying to create
a space for themselves on an NFL roster, primarily here.

(34:06):
And he wasn't He's the one who said, I forget
what game it was. But halfway through the season, after
they lost Dak, he said, hey, we lost we won
three games with Dak. We aren't playing good with any quarterback, right.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
And he said, the results of the results, and I'm
not happy with the results.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
I'm not happy with the record, you know.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
And we can feel good about three out of four,
but at the end of the day, we're not happy.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
With the team.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
And they will be judged and Mike will be judged
on the final record. And so that's why I say,
you know, they lose three in a row. You know,
there's no momentum.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
So when you slide Keller Moore in here, I just
don't see an eighty year old owner going and giving
a job to someone who's never done.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
That first year coach. He's never done that. Well, I
think that depends on he did it with Jason Garrett.
It depends on how he was part of him. I'm saying.
That's why I'm saying that's like, that's why I said that.

Speaker 6 (35:04):
Yes, normally wouldn't do it for the first year coach,
but he knows how it works around here. He's been
thought of highly an NFL circus.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
He's called plays for this quarterback. This quarterback has a
brother like relationship.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Remember the last time he was calling place said preferred
the league and picks.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
That was how did he do the other years he.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Was Joyce did.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
And then McCarthy was like, man, we got to get
him out of here. And next thing, you know, he
leads a league. Maybe I think Mike is back.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
Well, I don't think the opack and plays. Oh yeah,
I don't know about that. Mike's not gonna not call play.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
That's what I think. I think, Like he doesn't have value.
If he's not your play call, if you don't if
you don't like what he does as a play caller,
there's no reason to bring him back.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
He's not I mean, he's not giving a play call.
I mean he's not doing.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Would he do it for his job?

Speaker 5 (35:51):
I mean I think that's he I think that's how
he embodies his job as I mean, we've talked, but.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
I'm saying, is he if Jerry says, I'll bring it
back as a head coach and sign you for three
years or four years, but you're not calling the plays
as Mike willing to say? Okay? Or does he say, hey,
I'm a free agent. Let me go see what New Orleans.
Let me go see Aaron Rodgers wants me to coach
him at the Jets.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Well, I mean, who's this? Who you gonna have to
be Mike's play call? I don't know. By the way,
Campbell was the first time. Yeah, but he was in
the he was in the system.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
But and but again he's part of Jimmy's family.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
The biggest thing with with with with Mike coming back
is that there are really no real options. I mean,
there's no there. I'm sorry, I think Mike has done
a great job. I think it's a good rate coach.
I think it's a good coach. Five five and twenty five.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
A great okay, this year the.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Body I'm telling his body at work. And I don't
think he gets enough credit for twenty five five twenty
five the year you can go twelve and five when
he lost that, right, you know, I don't think it's
enough credit.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
I think he did a good job managing his team, certainly,
and when he did lose DA he got a twelve
and five.

Speaker 5 (36:59):
Yeah, So I don't think it's enough credit for that.
And is it his fault they haven't gotten over the
hump in the playoffs, you know, And you look at
the ross I've always pushed back on. This is the
most talented team.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
And I remember the one year he said came out
of the San Francisco playoff game saying, oh, we were nervous.
I knew we were. And then when they lost to
Green Bay and got blown out in the first half
of that game, fell behind twenty seven nothing, he was
talking about, Oh, you got to get the quarterback comfortable
in the game earlier, like, well, what is it? How
are your guys not ready to play.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
In these moments, no, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
I like Mike too, and I think he's done a
good job, and I wouldn't have any I wouldn't have
pose bringing him back either. I think the risk you
take with Kellen Moore is you know how he's going
to be as a play caller. What you don't know
is Kenny run the whole team?

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Can he be a leader of men?

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Kenny run the whole team?

Speaker 5 (37:49):
And we've seen his interviews. He doesn't engender confidence.

Speaker 9 (37:53):
No.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
I I just can't see the owner moving off when
there's no better option.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
And my thing is this, we don't know what he
thinks a better option is.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
And my thing is this, because it's not like they
have lost. They don't need a new voice.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
They haven't lost, He hasn't lost the players. Okay, So
not like you need a new voice.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Who comes in here and takes the Cowboys to this
because that's the goal, Okay, it's not just to get
back to the playoffs. Who comes here and improves this
team and makes them a super Bowl team.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
I would say my biggest concern about Mike is his
philosophy as it pertains to the running game. Everybody in
the NFL. The good teams are running football now more
than ever, more than anytime in the last ten years.
Good teams are running the football now. All teams are
running the football more. And if you look at the
teams that are winning, they're running the football. Look at Philadelphia,
and he started to and he doesn't ever really do that.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
He started to figure it out here in these last
three games, well, because he's playing with the backup quarterback.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
And the three games are against.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Bad against teams bad against the run.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
So this is and I don't I think they can
improve with the running back.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
And isn't that the way Jerry won his Super Bowl?
He won with the run oriented offenses and defenses that
had depth and could rush the passer. That's how they won.
And Mike just doesn't ever buy into the run game.
And I like, how many times did he stand up
there and say, Hey, the only thing standing between Rico
Dwell and exceptional running statistics are gettinghim enough rushes? Well,

(39:22):
who's Garret, who's calling the runs? You think you have
to run the football to win?

Speaker 5 (39:30):
Mike's not gonna right, But with Mike getting body else
if they don't change their ways, and how they handle
free agency. It doesn't matter who to coach. You're not
gonna get to the next level. You not become You're
not gonna become a super Bowl team unless you.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
This is more on the front office than on the coach.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah, I think they don't matter who the coach is
gonna be. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Yeah, the front office definite playing big part of this.
All right, before we get out of here, let's pick games.
We've got Thursday night football. Denver is at the La
Charge j J T.

Speaker 6 (39:57):
Which gat hey man, Justin Herbert and his coach better
better put a head at the Keister Man. So it's
got to be the Charger tonight if they gonna make
a move.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
I like them. Twenty seven twenty.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Four Rockers are on a four game winning streak, but
this is the kind of team that they haven't beaten.
Their won in five against teams that are five hundred
or better. But the Chargers have the same flow. So
the Chargers are home. I'm taking Denver. I'm taking Sean
Page here.

Speaker 6 (40:23):
I was thinking he was going against his twenty four
or twice, and yet he's twenty four to twenty most trusted.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
I think Denver was living on ball time. I'm taking
the charges. You don't like bow Nicks?

Speaker 4 (40:34):
No, how about bo Derek?

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Got next score? Twenty to fourteen, twenty to fourteen? All right,
Tampa at Dallas JJ t oh.

Speaker 6 (40:44):
Well you know tam Bows is a favorite of mine.
So and they won't leave the show friends. Yeah, but
he'll let me in his locker room. So I'm going
with Tampa Bay.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
He'll let you in his locker room.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
That four oh, he's not allowed to cowboys locker room
in him.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
You're not allowed in the cowboy locker room.
