Speaker 1 (00:55):
Everybody else got back from Charlotte, you know, yesterday, if
not Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
We're just pulling in here.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Me and several Cowboy fans got stuck. Several fans, a
couple of Cowboys executives were on my flight. I stayed
because I did my podcast on Monday morning and eleven,
so I took an afternoon flight. By the time I
got on the plane, UH stormers were coming to Dallas.
Raising in Dallas and did a ground stop when all
all the planes coming to Dallas. And the bad thing
(01:26):
about is how they tease you, how they do you.
So we sat on the tarmac for for hour and
they say we're gonna They said, no plans come, We're
gon We're gonna sit there for another hour. And we
sat there for another hour. They were setting there for
another thirty minutes. Then they said we're gonna do playing you,
and we're gonna get you on another flight.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
We're just gonna do playing you right here.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
And then they gave us a flight time five minutes
before we bought, well, that flight time.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Is not real.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
We're gonna move it back. Then they gave us another
flight time. What time is it? And they actually boardered
us on the plane. They were like, oh good, we
finally going home at ten pm. Oh, I'm gonna get
back at twelve. Well, first of all, they said we're
gonna be at midnight flight. Then they said, now we're
gonna get you on early. We're gonna clear, We got
this plane ready and we're gonna put you on the
(02:11):
ten PM.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
And so we bought reboard the fight again.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Everybody's excited. He tid, we're gonna go through. Order's gonna
get around here, gonna get your own faster. Five minutes later,
this flight has been canceled and we deplanned again, and
and now everybody's at to help deak the whole plane,
trying to reroute people, misconnections with people, you know, trying
to find out you're gonna get home. And I actually
(02:37):
took a eleven o'clock flight to Nashville, and that's it's
like a ninety minute trip from Charlotte or whatever else.
And then I got on a flight from Nashville Dallas
this morning.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
So he stayed in Nashville.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I spent the night in Nashville the airport.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yes, So does the airline pay for that at all?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
No, they said that because it's a weather issue, that
you don't get reimbursed.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
To get reimbursed.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Number one, if it's their fault, and I think number two,
if you don't take the other leg, if you counsel
your ticket.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
So I still flew, so I don't get.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Reimbursed, and they didn't pay for the hotel because it
was weather.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
It wasn't their fault.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Ouch.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Well, I'm glad you're here.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I'm here. I made it on fumes, on fumes, yes,
on fuld, but here, I'm here for you. I'm dedicated here.
If you are show up, we appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
As the Cowboys ended up winning in Carolina thirty to fourteen,
a whole lot of guys from the Carolina area, be
it they lived or played high school football North Carolina
or they played at South Carolina, a lot of guys
with a good day there.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
You've covered a lot of teams, you've seen the homecomings.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Before, but I thought that was pretty significant because these
were not necessarily your blue chip players who got there
but had had good days.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah. I mean one is Rico Dodo Nout.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You know in the third straight one under your game,
you undrated Ferrag from South Carolina. Wasn't you know started
at South Carolina, but you know he wasn't all.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Sec before Highland Trophy candidate.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
You know, undratiferaged to go to Dallas, but you know
this was just a continuation of the run. He's been
on late in the season and he certainly had a
big day. He was the focal point of that offense.
Uh and Jayalen Brooks. Good for Jailen Brooks a lot
like the fact that Jalen Brooks. It was another example
of guys who rebounded from mishaps or bad thing. Even
(04:29):
you know, Cooper Rush he had to fumble it and
half grade second half, you know, And that's the thing
about this team, it has a it has some character
that they they don't blink in the in the sign
of trouble. And Jalen Brooks, you know, coming out of
camp with a lot of high hopes for him, he
had to slip again in that game was the Saints
early in the season. You know, they called the deck
interception and Tom Brady I wouldn't go back to him
(04:51):
and you know, and just kept keep your head down,
keep plugging away. And certainly he had a big touchdown
and that and Charlotte is actually his hometown game.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
For him, so that was good to see there.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
And he's from up there too, and he had interception.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Yep, South Carolina. Guys in the North Carolina had had
a nice day.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
So you know, you buy tickets and your family wants
to come down and see the schedule early. So to
see that happen, I felt happy for those guys because
it doesn't mean something.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
And there were a lot of Cowboy fans there. I mean,
I think they, Yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Always a big because a lot of Cowboy fans in
that area from Florida and all both Carolinas would come
out and do a Cowboys takeover. And the stadium was
not packed because of obvious Cowboys scheduled I mean record
and the Panthers record, and in the weather because usually
sold out no matter what the Panthers looked like. It
was that last cold it was it was it was cold.
(05:41):
It was okay, it wasn't cold cold, but it was
just you know football weather forties, you know a forties,
you know, and just it's it was kind of rainy,
and so I think that shy people the way. But
at the end of the game, there were none but
Cowboy fans in that place, and and you know, you
you know, we were doing watching the guys come out
the field and they were going crazy celebrating their guys.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
I always tell people it's one of the worst parking
stadium situations. It is bad.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
You have to really want to go, and you better
take care of your parkings. If you buy a ticket,
you better make sure you take care of the parking
with the ticket because that is a hard place to
get to.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
You stay downtown and walk. We walked from the hotel,
We walked from from the Marriott, just walked down the street.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Never done that, but okay, you never done that. Not
there get a parking paths?
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, because I have your equipment.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
But you know a lot of all the writers, we
stay downtown and we walked walk there, walking back.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
It's not a bad walk at all.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Okay, there you go.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Coming out of that game, Mike McCarthy ties Jeff Fisher
for thirteenth all time and wins as a head coach.
And as you look at this one, it's a bad
Carolina Panther team. But the Cowboys were not favored in
the football game. They dominated the game. How do you
start to look at the job he's done. Starting cornerback
(07:00):
and former All Pro Treyvon Diggs not there, gonna miss
the rest of the season. You're an underdog, you go
on the road, you win the game. How do you
start to measure Mike McCarthy. And I know there's three
games left against three playoff teams right now, first place
Tampa Bay, first place, Philadelphia, wild card, Washington.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
How does Jerry start to look at him in the
coaching job?
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I mean, I mean he talked about ready today, how
you know the arrow is going up and he gives
Mike McCarthy ends Zemer high grade. You know what they do,
how they imagine the team. I've said it all along,
and I've said this team has never quit on Mike McCarthy,
you know, and even during the bad times, uh, even
during a five game losing streak and all the other stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
These guys give effort.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
And you're seeing that what the fans want to tank
and and you know for hot draft.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Pick, they won't quit. They do have a good football character.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
They do, you know, you know, continue to fight and
continue to play and and and he's not lost the locker.
When people talk about with asking that's what's the media
is just we go away so wishy washy because whenever
missed the five game lose streak. Are you gonna make
a coaching change in the middle of season, Well, it's
not like they lost. He lost the team, you know,
(08:13):
and that's when you make a coaching change when you
guys are teaming you out and you're seeing guys not.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Give effort, you know. But that was never the case.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
And now, of course the story is, you know, uh,
are you gonna bring it back?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
You know? And you know, so we don't know what
he's gonna do.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
And I think Jerry also on the radios, had a
good point in which we all have to put it
a point. Yes, the Cowboys have won four or five games,
three or four games. Let's compare who they won against.
Sure too, they lost against okay, the Detroits and the
Baltimore's and you know, Northern they were hot.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
And you know it's it's not the same. I mean,
who they're playing.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
You're talking about the bad Carolina team, talking about the
bad Giants team they've beaten twice. And I said all
along when the Cowboys talking about the role they can't
win it all and they went on the road. Who
they play on the road outside the Steelers. You know,
that's what the Steelers at the second best quarterback in
the game. But I mean you if you would have
flopped who they played in the role they played home
(09:13):
that had a better home record. They had a road record,
but it's who they played when they played. All that
factors into this discussion.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
This is good Clarience Hill, all City Dallas with this
right now. Breaking this down, I'm going to ask you
a question I asked on the players lunch yesterday. How
do you view the coaching job for Mike McCarthy compared
to the other six and eight teams in the league.
Here are you're six and eight teams San Francisco, Kyle
Shanahan up there, Shane steike In in Indianapolis, Zach down there
(09:42):
here at the Cincinnati who they just played two weeks ago,
Coach Sol down in Miami. They're six and eight, and
Raheem Morris Atlanta is well, they were six and seven
yesterday they end up beating the Raiders, so now.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Seven and they had won the games since they beat
the Cowboys. First of all, it's just like yesterday. You know,
Mike McCarthy can coach circles around Canalis. Okay, Mike McCarty's
a damn good football coach. Okay, he's he was a
damn good football coach in twelve and five. He's still
one of the better football coaches and getting the team
(10:16):
prepared in this league at six and eight, and you
compare them to all these guys who have no skin
on the walls outside of Shanahan and Shannahan's excuses, like
the Cowboy excuses, they got injuries, injuries that played a
huge role in their record and where their team is.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
That that's that's that's a fact. You know.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
But as I post, as I posted to someone yesterday
actually from the Cowboys organization, I saw on the plane,
and everybody feels good about the Cowboys and how they
finishing whatever else. So you bring everybody back and I
do believe the Cowboys would be a player.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Arc will be a playoff team next year.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Okay, uh, hell, if they don't muffle punt, they might
be a playoff team this year. You know, ay o,
don't mess you know, I mean, they should have won
for should be right in the four game winning Street.
There's no doubt in my mind that she brought in
the four game winning street right now, you know, like
they had Cincinnati right there, had a chance to close
(11:12):
that game out and against the Cincinnati team, you know,
and that's why Mike Zammer gets so much credit and
how they're playing defensely with the guys out because that
Cincinnati team continues to put up points because everybody else
except you know, except the Cowboys. Really, let's say you
bring everybody back, you get to the playoffs. Is this
a team that can take the next step? Because that
(11:34):
was always the case, you know when twenty five. Twenty
five wasn't about getting to the playoffs, because we already
knew that that playoff team the goal is to get
to the super Bowl? Do you have enough to get
to the super Bowl? Not just get so it's gonna
be cool. You had this bad season. Bring everybody back
when you get the playoffs again? Is that going to
satisfy the thirst of the fan base? Thirst to Jerry Jones,
(11:58):
if they don't get back to the super Bowl, were
back in the same rut.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
So if Jerry says.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
We have and I don't know if there's the answer
to somebody else didn't get you over the top, I'm
based on that, you know, I'm just thinking.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
And That's where I'm going with this. Let's say Jerry
that Jerry says, at the end of the year, this
was an unacceptable season based on that time, and therefore
I decided to make coaching change. The one name we
kept hearing was Bill Belichick. Yeah gone, not head coach
North Carolina. Who's the next person, you say? Ben Johnson's
(12:33):
name you here? But guy won of fifteen million dollars.
Jerry's not known to pay coaches, and when Ben Johnson's
apparently he's released the things he wants.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
But he's got bible.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
No, he's got a I guess I got a little
memo of what he wants, and the Cowboys don't fit
the checklist personnel wise what he's looking for. So I
come back to this, I don't know if there's any
place for Jerry to go where he says I've got
an upgraded coach over Mike McCarthy. I don't see Jerry
giving Aaron Glenn.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
I don't see Varabel, anybody those upgrade over Mike McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
You know, I had a good source tell me yesterday
Rabel was going to the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
That's fine, but I don't see any of those guys
being upgrade with Mike McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I mean, I don't know. There's not an answer.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
You know that means McCarthy's coming back, Well he should,
but you know, just because you know it means that, man,
know you're trying to now you're working with logic.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I'm working with logic. But also just we know Jerry
has been resisted to change. Look at the you know,
look at the nine year run for Jason Garrett.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Jason Garrett is part of family. It's part of Super
Bowl family. But but but.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Yeah, that's that's the outside of the fact that I mean, listen,
I like Mike. I mean, I think Mike's done a
great job. I think Mike's a good coach. I think
he's better than any of those coaches, uh uh perspective,
coaches that are out there.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
You know, my only.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Hope they're bringing back, so giving some help, don't don't
just run it back and not improve a roster.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Agree, And I look at Mike McCarthy and I'm with you.
I think Mike McCarthy's doing a really good job here.
And you and I understand the dynamics of it's not
just coaching here. There's a lot of other stuff that
goes on here, some stuff we won't talk about over
the air, but there's a lot of stuff to come
when it comes to coaching here. And I think he
has weathered that storm of what it is. You know,
(14:27):
this is a there's certain jobs that you're coaching and
then there's other stuff that comes with it. Being the
head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, there stuff that
comes with that.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Being the manager of the New York Kings. There's just
extra stuff being the head coach of the Montreal That's.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
What Mike talked about earlier, you know, talking when I
was at Green Bay. We knew we could put our
seven day schedule, you know, because they played at a
certain time every week and he can get home.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Yeah, well twelve cent.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Yeah, they can get home and get a schedule and
then they had a routine. There's no routine here.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
You got to change the schedule every week because you
can cause you're three and you're seven, and you're one,
and Thursday night your Sunday night. I mean, that's that's
come with the dinner of Ben the Cowboys coach.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Yes, and I think that.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
If we're look at the two potential worst years for
Mike McCarthy's first year, and they gave him the Mulligan
twelve five, twelve five, twelve five and now here, And
I think you had wrote it earlier when you were
back to Star Telegram beginning of the year, this was
not this is a roster of failed you called the
(15:28):
receiving court.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
You said, CD and the babies.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
So a lot of the things you spoke about about
what you were seeing at the beginning of the year
have come true in a way that has not been
pleasant for Cowboy fans or even Jerry Jones about what
this was constructed together. And so as you're coming towards
the end and you're trying to think about a decision
on the head coach, I don't know where Jerry goes,
and you say, well, this is your upgrade, and this
(15:52):
is where you go, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Right, And even if you bring a new coach in,
are you gonna give him some more players? You're gonna
upgrade the roster to help him get to the next
love because the scheme ain't gonna do it. First voice
isn't gonna do it, because it's not like that, not
listening to this voice. And again it's it's it be
different than were listening to this voice. If they need it,
it's not about needing a first voice.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
All right, I'll stay with you there, and then let's
just add this. You bring McCarthy back because his his well,
first off, his contracts up.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Does he want to come back?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Oh, I think he does.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
I mean, his family loves it, his daughter loves it.
He's talked about that many times. We talked a lot
of times, you know, just off to the side, off
the cuff. You know, he talks with reporters, and his
daughter loves it here. And so I think he would
like to stay here.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
And then what's the years if you bring him back.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
I don't know, that's two three? I mean, ain't nobody's
taking a one year deal. I don't think, But yeah,
I mean it has to be a multi year deal.
And then in my and and Jerry says there on
the radio that he and Zim are tied to the
hill that you know, and Zimer the defense has played
well and and and certainly improved the course of the season.
(17:01):
You know, they've had a lot of guys in and
the Alida that got guys out, you know, and and
and so you know, he's he's done well to earn
and you know, they're only getting better and they will
continue to get better if he stays at the coordinator.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Michael Parson is a topic for Jerry Jones today.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And David Jones on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Steven Jones on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
So I want you to dive into that Michael Parsons
and also Jerry's delicacy for certain certain foods.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
So diving to that.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Mash media mash right here on Dallas Cowboys dot Com
makes that by Tuesdays, we got claricill and meet you.
We scrugs coming at you all right. Jerry Jones talks
to every Tuesday one to five three the fan. One
of the stories that you have been on for a
long time and you're you're you're close with the player is.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
My back of Michael Parsons. Sunday, NFL Network came out
with a.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Report about the possibility of a Micah Parsons tree. Stephen
Jones addressed it, Jerry addressing today, take people through what
they should be listening to maybe what they should do.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
First of all, the NFL Network report was confusing because
it opened with, yeah, well, you do things differently, or
you're supposed to do things differently paying money to big
money players like DAK and CD, and then you know
the results and is that something you would consider doing differently?
(20:37):
And It was confusing because if you read the story,
Steven specifically says, yeah, you know we got, you know,
some adjustments. Yes, we you know, were don't like the
way our sceneson has come. Yes, we have to revisit
everything when you're bad. But I don't see a future
without Mike McCarthy, I mean without Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
But when he did it on TV, he said the.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Cowboys could be opening the trading Michael Parsons, and that's
what everybody ran with.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
And I was telling Calvin Watkinson more thing new. I said.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
The media creates things, and I'm part of the media
and we have to have storylines. For the last year,
Steven and Jerry never said anything other We're gonna sign
Dak Prescott.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Dak Prescott's our future.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
But yet there are people talking about they can move
away from Dak Prescott. They might not sign him. They
could do this, they can breaking. Trey Land said. They
never publicly said one word other than Dak Prescott's can
be a quarterback for the future.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Never one word publicly.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I've never heard them publicly say anything other than we
want Michael Parsons on our team for the future. They've
never said that but yet when you don't sign a guy,
when he's not signed with up negotiations, and as negotiations
get protracted, people come up with reasons why, and they're
(22:06):
thinking about this, and they're thinking about that, and they
they could do this. They never consider moving away from
Dak Prescott. That never considered way not signing City Lamb
and they're never not gonna not play sign.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Michael Parsons, You don't.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
There's in their people organizations, yes, and their people in
the media who who who.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Are There's some people in the organization who have different thoughts,
but there the owner, they're not the owner's thoughts.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
You know, you don't build good teams. You don't win
by getting rid of generational players.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
You don't. You don't. There's there's there's.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
No path forward to being a successful franchise by getting
where generational players. I don't you think you're gonna get.
I'm gonna get all these draft picks and this for.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
What there's no guarantee gonna get what.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Michael Parsons, I go back into what when you go draft. Ultimately,
when you're in the draft, what does everybody say you
need to win in this league?
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Franchise quarterback.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
And then and you're doing your roster building, franchise quarterback,
and then who are the other when you round out
your top three priorities. It's a quarterback, is a pass rusher,
it's an elite left.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Hack at a cornerback. Yes, and that's that those are
the premium. But those are the positions to get paid.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
And so you're the Cowboys. You have two of them.
And I look at Khalil Mack.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Well, he's a prime example.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
And as exhibit a of Okay, John Gruten didn't want
to pay him, thought well, let's move off him. Let's
get picks that that do our rebuild. And Khalil Mack
was a former defensive play of the Year. We don't know,
we don't remember anybody they had maybe anymore, right, So
(23:51):
they got nothing out of that, and you lost a
good football player.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
They couldn't replace me.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
So show me the many times where you've replaced these
types of play people.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
People are so miserized by the herschelwalggle trade. We talked
about that, the players loud, there's no more hershelwoggle trades.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Erry Church asked that, I'm like, you're young, young, I said,
what year was that?
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Eighty nine ninety. I said, do you know if you notice,
there's never been that again? And I said, and that's Barr.
You gotta understand to what what the trade was. It
was a couple of players like I reas, a couple
of linebackers. It was like but it was all these
picks and they were conditional. And what people didn't realize
is Jimmy play Mike Lynn was, oh, we gonna cut
(24:38):
that guy. That pick was a four down becomes a
Tuesday next thing. You know, you've got all these draft picks.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Nobody's doing that ever again, No one is No one's
ever going to fall for the banana and the tail
pipe of the Herschelwalker trade. So that's out. That's gone.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah, and and and and you get a team like
Minnesota at the time, who were contending, who thought this
was going to take play were they thought there was
the way we're gonna be a super Bowl team.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
This team is struggling. We're trying to win now.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
And I get that, you know, we talked about that
all the time, trying to win now, But you don't
mortgage all of that. It's never happened again. That's that's yeah.
The Trojan Horse.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
It's you know, there's certain things that happened that people
all say, no, well, won't do that again. That's when
you get a death pedal that no, we're not gonna
do that again. Herschel walk, not gonna there's certain things
that happen like yet, we will not go down that
path again because everyone looks at oh, look at what happened,
the unintended consequences and this is this shill never happen.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
That was before free agency. It was just a different time.
You are right before free agent.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
And that's another one that matters to very much.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Yes, and nobody is that dumb and all that before
sour I mean, there was a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Of different things.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
It's just it's just not happening that that that you
could do something like that.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
But yeah, so there's this topic.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
I just it just frustrates me when people talk about
getting rid of Michael Parsons and they don't look at
the impact and they they they take the impact for granted,
they take, well, you know, to my argument, what's he
done in the playoffs? What has anybody else done in
the playoffs? Is he can't do it by himself. And
they talk about his leadership, and I'll say, you know,
was Charles Hay that great leader, but look who he
(26:15):
had around it. He had Dion, he had Michael that show.
I mean, I all had people. I want more Michael Parsons.
I want more different difference making players. I want more
generational talents. I want more prospective Hall of famers. That's
how you want a Super Bowl. Not getting rid of
Michael Parsons. Getting rid of Michael Parson. Now go get
some people to go with the run. With Michael Parsons,
(26:36):
that's gonna go after the ball and get to the
quarterback and make impact plays and open things up for
other guys who are gonna help.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
You get to the next level.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Stay right there when you talk about what he opened
up for other people, and Demarian Overshown does. When Parsons
got back in the lineup, we saw him really making
a lot of plays and you just said, hey, they're
a real bright light on your defense. And unfortunately he's
out for this year, most likely misses all of next year.
(27:07):
But to me, that was one where you came and
he said, Hey, that's what a Micah Parsons can do
for someone else. It's what did Lawrence Taylor do for
other people. Lawrence Taylor was so good. Next thing, you know,
Carl Banks is sitting here getting to the quarterback. And
Carl Banks was a fantastic football player. But I think
of on tomorrow and overshowing like a Carl Banks, Hey,
you got LT over here. Now you're able to get
(27:28):
out here do a lot of stuff on one on
one coverage and you're out here able to make some
plays and being impactful.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
And it is just and we point to over show.
I'm but look at osa and look at all the
other guys that are making play. The Cowboys since Michael
Parson's returned, since the return to the injury, the Cowboys
the leading league in sacks and quarterback hits.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
And just look at this defense.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Look look look at you know, six sacks the other night,
and you just look at all the guys and look
at the sacks.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
He's had it in the run he's made toward getting
double digitic sacks. You know on the season you know
which he had won. He's had seven and a halfs
since they returned.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I look at Bill Parcells, that's said part Bill Belichick.
I should say, who coached for Bill Parcells? And coach
Lawrence Taylor and just his Bill's a part of eight
Super Bowl winning teams and watching the many Cassie share.
When he spoke of Michael Parsons, he spoke of him
(28:23):
in a glowing fashion, in a way he spoke about
Ed Reid in a way he spoke about Darrell Reeves.
And I think you and I are on the same
page when you talk about guys like Revs and.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Ed Reid. These were difference makers.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
And he would talk about you needed to know where
Ed Reed was on the football field when they played.
Micah's that kind of player for him. And if a
guy like that has that kind of praise for the
football player, that's not a guy I'm trying to trade
in my opinion, No, that's not a guy.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
No.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
I mean, it just doesn't make any sense. And I
don't care what people think. And I a would say,
you think, let's be honest, and we've been in a
long time. Do you think everybody organization was happy with
how Michael Irvin did his business in the nineties. So
just because some people are unhappy with Michael Parsons off season,
which men never crossed legal issues, you know, never, you know, no, real.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Drama other than him, nothing nothing.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
There are people who didn't like how Michael Irvin handled
his business in the nineties, okay, but they won titles
and and and so that's what it is that Michael
and Mike Michael Parsons talked about. He talked about his dedication,
he talked about his will to win. He talked about
he's not going to quit.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
You know. I talked to him after him.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
I walked with him to the bus, you know, and
he talked about he wants to be lead, you know,
he wants number eleven to be retired. He's had individual success.
He says, I'm in my prime. I have got individual
sayss left to nothing. I want to win super Bowls
here too.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
The word Jimmy Johnson used to use, and it fits
to Michael Parsons, and he didn't use the very The
word is difference maker.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
You don't trade difference makers.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
No again, That's that's what That's what's crazy to dole
to media people, to fans, and we need to trade
him because they mad about a podcast and I'll talked
to some about it. He has well, he's always it's
on a Tuesday, it's on his day. Off or it's
a Monday evening when he's they're not. It's not like
he's missing practice to do a podcast.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
I've been in and you've worked here a long time.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
I've worked in different cities, and I can recall when
teams have traded what I like to call difference makers.
I remember the Dodgers traded Mike Piazza, trade him to Florida.
Florida only got him so they could move him on.
He went to the Mets. Mets ended up going to
the World Series. Mike Piazza ended up going to the
Baseball Hall of Fame. Dodgers never on anything after they
(31:01):
traded Piazza with that that that that group who did
it and everything, they got nothing. I was working at
Los Angeles when Shaq came to the Magic, I mean
from the Magic because they didn't want to pay him
his money. They watered the desert, right, they watered the
desert trying to figure out how did they do it?
And yes, they ended up getting Dwight Howard and went
to the finals. But Dwight Howard was never Shaquille never
(31:24):
had the cashet. When you have difference makers, you keep them.
You just do Micah is the best player they have
on the team period, With all due respect to.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
CD Lank since he's been on the team, he's.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Their best player. Jerry Jones. When's the last time Jerry
Jones traded his best player?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
He hasn't. He doesn't do it. No, and and.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
It wouldn't less they let go of guy he wanted
to keep. He left the guy he wanted to keep
get away. They don't do that, and they're not going
to do that. They weren't going to do that with
with with CD. They weren't gonna do that with Deck,
and they're not gonna do with Mike, and they shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
All right, let's go to break here. When we come back,
Jerry Jones talks diddles neats. It's pretty funny. You don't
want to miss it. Next right here on the meeting back.
Speaker 7 (32:11):

by Sean Sharif, the host, when he talked about leaguette
of Carolina who talked about how he liked to eat
raccoon and uh, well, I'll let you. I'll let Sean pick.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
It up from here. Last one.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
I want to finish up with a final taste of that.
Speaker 10 (34:51):
Carolina Victory Xavier Legedt their receiver says that he eats
raccoon and that set the food world a blaze. Talk
about hunting and game with you. Have you ever had
raccoon or anything similar which would shock a lot of
other non hunters or game eaters.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
I've eaten a lot of raccoon, yes the answers, yes,
and I've eaten it. I've eaten and it hunting. I've
actually had it served my mom at table at the
table away from honey, and I have eaten raccoon, and yes,
it's not uncommon at all. I'll tell you something that
(35:32):
was one of my favorites is squirrel and it's wonderful
and my mother could do a great job of it.
And we all had our favorite pieces. And my dad
and sister. I have one sibling, a sister, and they
would fight over not fight, but my mom and I
(35:55):
they were just my sister and I. As for a sibling.
My mom and I wouldn't even ask for the brain.
And I squirreled, oh man, and delicious. Seriously, why are
you frowning enough?
Speaker 4 (36:08):
You're from Carolina, I said, delicious, Actually, why are.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
You frowned up? You're from all about my Carolina I.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Laughed about because I was telling because Church from Pittsburgh
was like no, no, and then old cliffs my hair's like,
I said, look, my folks from Alabama, they this is
what they grew up poor.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
So you you're not a poor thing. It's a hunting thing. Well, well,
I'm just somebody.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
When he just talked about, hey, when we grew up poor,
like you went and you got stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Now I don't know about them eating an these he
can say he ain't no squirrels of raccoons. But but
my dad, but pig feet, pig ears, chitling's.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
All that that was.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
That was I was just thinking about this, yes, because
you know, I grew up in a small town and
I I think grew growing up I had squirreling raccoon
because I had I had a cousin that that did
that sort off. You know, squirrel, But tell me something.
I was just thinking about this, which is what's what's.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
You eat deer?
Speaker 3 (37:02):
You rabbit? People eat rabbit. I'm just due though, right
frog legs? You haven't had frog legs? I had it
once a new okay, frog legs. Duck, It's okay, right ducks.
You know people like duck.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Lamb.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
You know you love me, I love me some lamb.
I mean, well heroes, my boy, Prince Lovenies. So yes,
I'm just saying, what what what?
Speaker 2 (37:29):
What? What animal do we stop?
Speaker 5 (37:31):
It?
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Is there an animal to say? You know, there's some
people gator, they rab you know, you know they had
all you know, so where do we stop?
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (37:41):
So but yeah, I grew up. I haven't eaten a
long time.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
But like when I was young, and you know in
the small town in the country roads and shooting where
we we had some coon and we had some squirrels
and certain we.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Have frog legs, little meat chur.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
And of course you you talked about all the big stuff,
you know, you talked about the chilings and the big
feet and all of this stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
You know, that was that was what you do.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
I love I don't remember boy it making it put
on that sticks.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
But Jerry Jerry's from Arkansas.
Speaker 5 (38:21):
J J.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Jerry is a rich man, but he grew up on
the land. Yes, he grew up, and I just not
a surprise he did. They grew up because that that
was part of the culture. And just like everybody makes
fun of lo get you know, and that that's part of.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
His court thing. And I like it. He knows people laughing,
but you don't care. That's who he is. He embraces
who is a loved accent.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
But yeah, Jerry's had a little coon in his life.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
Some coon.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
The beauty of it is you're from Texas, small town,
you had it. Hectman was like, no, he's.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Like the most from the city.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
He's like William's chickens the most I've done that.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
What about gizzards? You know people eat gizzards?
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Is its liver? No, thank you, none of that, none
of that.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
But in church from Pittsburgh was out out. So this
this is this this part of conversation. But I said,
I understand. Remember I literally remember the first time I
saw pigfoot? Who pickfoot?
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Pig feet?
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Got this pig feet. But I was like, this is foot?
Speaker 5 (39:30):
What is this?
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Son? It's good man, put some vinegar on that thing.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Okay, you know what everyone would doing hot sauce and mustard.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
No pigs put it in. I was never about that.
I was never about the ears and the tongue.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Sit up, eat that damn piggy put some muscle.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Oh you eat big ear? E cool? It was no different.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
And then I but then I did tell the guys
on the players on tow. I was in New Orleans,
New Orleans got all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
So I was in New Orleans, just this place called butcher,
and they had a bacon jawl sandwich. Only, well, what's
jaw what's.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
That picture of Jaws picturew And I looked at it
and the guy said, do you like bacon? Yeah, he said,
taste like bacon. He said, try it, you don't like it?
I getting no sandwich?
Speaker 4 (40:16):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
I tried it.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
I said, man, I need to get one to go.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
You got me some jaws to go.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
You know what it was? It was great, tastes like bacon.
It was great. So there you go.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
But I have not had any raccoon. Havn't had squirrel.
I've lived this lorn without it. I think I'm just
gonna go.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
What about rabbit? No, haven't had it. You don't eat easter?
But no what about Bama. You hate the squirrel. He
squirbed me. He's vincent, he squirrebed, never squirbbed me. No,
I'm man square deer me excuse me, Dear.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Somebody brought in some deer jerky one day.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Uh remember o rod Tina who worked the channel fire right, Yeah,
she brought some of that.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
We tried, We tried to make a pick.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
No, Dear Sausage is good. Man got so she got.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Hey, here's the bag. I took it, and then I
gave my home and salt gave.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
It to my dog. No, no, you gotta get some deer.
It's a good deal. No, no, no, people going deer
hunting for a reason. That's good. You know who. Dear Sausage,
Dear Sausage.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Good boy band Rush Lake vand Rush said how Elk
burgers were great. He swore by Elk burgers.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
I guess lean is good.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Now I've had buffalo meat. I'll eat buffalo all day long.
I I won't lie buffalo me. I've had to buffalo meat.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
So okay, I'm not going hunting with the Vendorush.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
This is a good place in the show. He is
cleared to follow him at all City Dallas.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
