Speaker 1 (00:03):
Now to Jim Zoki with the Panthers postgame show preseming
by Southern Star un official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers
celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Mixed emotions, for sure, no one feels good about not
winning a game. But when you take the two time
defending Super Bowl champions down to the final play of
the game, that is what we call progress for the
Carolina Panthers. And I'll say disappointment obviously, thirty twenty seven.
No one feels good about a loss, but the Panthers
do take the Champs down to where they had to
(00:39):
kick a field goal on the final snap of the game.
In some ways, guys, is that more impressive than beating
the Giants and beating the Saints that you take a
team that's nine to one like that and take them
basically play them even today basically.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
You know, and I really thought that Kansas City thought
they were going to be able to put some distance
some point in the game against the Panthers, thought they
can go ahead and some distance, and they never could.
And that's because the Carolina Panthers were playing good football offensively,
they were playing good football, and they weren't turning the
ball over. It wasn't the the bevy of mistakes that
(01:11):
you would see from a young ball club. It was
some really good football. And then I think Chiek said
it to me early says, having one them there is
made Clowny better. There is a difference on the edge
with one of them coming off the edge to put
pressure on Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
And so I thought Mahomes were under.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Pressure all all day long. And I thought he did
a great job of escaping the pressure, and and and
and he created created something for their offense.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
This was a really good game.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
This wasn't a game where you think that the Panthers
was kind of thrown away. They were out matched. They
showed that they were evenly matched. And this, if I'm
playing to honest.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Yes, yeah, there's no obviously we'll say the disclaimer up front, right,
and there's no moral victories. You know here that the
professionals the here to win the game. Having said that, though,
this was a game that gives you hope. I mean,
as you said, Jim, and this is this is a
super Bowl caliber team that won two the two time
defending champions. They're they're right in the mix right there
with Detroit and Buffalo, even though they lost the Buffalo
(02:13):
last week. I mean, this is this is the class
of the NFL. And no disrespect to the Giants, Nope,
but you know the Saints. This is an upper exceelon team.
And this team went to Toto in fact, at one
point down what twenty to six, twenty yes, yeah, and
made it a game at the end, Like you can't.
You have to take the positives when you can find him,
(02:34):
even though you don't have to like the result, but
you do have to like the fact that the seam
played well.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
And I feel like we say it every week, but
we say it again this week. Bryce Young continues to
right grow and he looked like the real deal we've
talked about. You know, they went way through for one
hundred and twenty six against the Giants, but against our
top five defense today two hundred and sixty three yards
with a touchdown, did not throw an interception in this game.
Line did a good job protecting him and when it
wasn't there, he was able to take off and he
ended up running for twenty yards at three carries. So
(03:00):
I thought he really the way he managed things. But
he also there were some throws downfield.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Today, he shows some maneuverability in the pocket and keeping
his eyes down field, which was really good. I thought
sometimes he overthrew the ball or some chances where he
could go ahead and get the ball down. However, the
fact that he was able to move into position where
he can make the throw, I thought that was improvement,
no doubt about that improvement. And so you know, I
thought he really had a really good day against a
(03:25):
really good defense. This defense is one of the top
defenses in the league, no doubt about that. And so
I thought Bryce showed well and he was careful with
the ball. At quarterback. You got to protect the ball.
That's one of your major octs. You got to protect
the ball. And when you distribute the ball out, you
got to make sure it's in the hands where a
guy can catch it, where you can throw them open.
(03:46):
He thought some passes where I thought, if catches his path,
maybe a different game. I'm not sure, but maybe a
different game. So I thought offensively, I thought we did
really well with the quarterback, but I didn't think that
we ran the ball effectively, and because that's our bread
and butter, and I was looking for more runs.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Right and this is the third ranked rush defense. You
expected that it was going to be hard sledding there
on the running I think for me to kind of dovetail,
Eugene said, Jim to me, all those things that you
mentioned good things. But what he didn't do was almost
as important, which is protective football. He did to throw
an interception, and there was one play I think it
was in the second quarter where and I think it
(04:28):
was the third down play where he launched it into
the into the seats behind the But but but we
might have earlier year or last year, we might have
seen him trying to force something and so he took
the play that was there. I think what we're seeing
from him is he's starting to do what the game
is telling him what to do instead of trying to
do what he thinks he wants to do.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, there was there's a maturity that we are seeing
in Bryce in the last three games, and even in
this loss, we saw some improvement and we saw some
really good decision making by Bryce.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
And that's what that's what coach.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Analys is wanting to see good decision making because I mean,
this game could easily turn on a play.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
It really can.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I mean when we got down and were able to
tie the score up and then get the two point
conversion against that team. Man, please, you better, you better
recognize this. We're not as bad as people may think
we are.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
You know, Marty Herney used to talk about this a
lot when when he was the general manager here. But
you know, confidence is such a fickle fate. It's such
a week two week type of thing. And when you
play with confidence. A team with playing with confidence can
be maybe slightly less talented, But if they're playing with confidence,
they're gonna be the team that maybe is slightly more
talented but doesn't have that confidence. And I think we're
seeing this team start to play with little confidence absolutely.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
And defense had five sacks today, so that was a
big factor. You guys mentioned about the actress exactly.
Speaker 6 (05:46):
I mean, who expected that against a bubble as Mahama.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Is right exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
And here's what I think maybe a caution for the
Kanside Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs have been in some
really tough close games throughout this entire season.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Yes that nine and one recognized ten and one escape
a few times.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
I mean when I saw the Cincinnati game, if it
wasn't for a DPI or a fourth down situation.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
That game, they lose that game.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
They even if they the at the broncos if it's
a may kick, it's a it's an easy one instead
of instead of a block kick. There were some games,
at least three or four games where it's decided by
a play a play, and so I think that there's
gonna be some more scrutiny from Coach Reid on that
side to see what they can do to create some distance,
(06:31):
because you can't give any good team a chance to
go ahead and tie it up or have the ball last,
because if you do, they're gonna find a way to
beat you.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Kansas City well, and they're really two passing interferance calls
away from being seen by a touch on them all exactly.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
So this, I bet you on the other side of
the flip side, Kansasity is gonnect this dude. We should have, man,
we should have got blown these guys out.
Speaker 6 (06:56):
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
What's going on? I think they may be rethinking some
things right now.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I'm sure the thinking. But they found a way to win,
and they did so to the city has to win.
But for the Panthers in a year where they're not
going to a postseason. This is still something that is
something to build on, even though the record says three
and eight, two wins. And then you take the Chiefs
down to the final play. Lots to get to coming
up here as we continue on the Southern Star Bourbon
post game show, certainly combined and see us here in
the North Lines. A lot of folks here somewhearing red
(07:20):
submer in blue. But we all get together and drinking
a m That's how we deal fins. They all hit
together and drinking the end. So we got Mike's got
the scoreboard update. When we come back with the NFL
games that just wrapped include a crazy finish with Dallas
and Washington.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
We'll be hearing from Coach Canalis.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
And some of these Panther players, and of course more
from Luke and Jake and a Niche as we continue
to get through this postgame show thirty twenty seven. The
final score Chiefs win over the Panthers. You're listening on
the Carolina Panthers radio network. That ground could mean only
(07:55):
one thing. Kind of talk, not a moment before the crowd.
You wait for the growl, then you talk say welcome
back to the Panthers Coast game show. The Southern Star,
the official burbons of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit
of the Carolinas. We have some nice lines of people
getting some Southern Star at bourbon right now. You know
(08:16):
that this is a good turn out here. I will
say this, Chiefs fans pretty good folk.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
I mean absolutely. You know again there's there's something less stuck.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I tell you what I mean that there were no
incidents I'm aware of, and we see a lot of
folks leaving it behind us here and some stand.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
But I'll tell you what. It was a good crowd.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
It did sound at times, and we expected this because
Chiefs Kingdom is a real thing and when you went
two Super Bowls in a row, you're gonna travel even better.
But we certainly they were out in big numbers here.
But Panthers fans also represented well today and it had
their moments out there.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
No doubt about this. Let me just say to the
Chiefs fans. When I played for the Seattle Seahawks, and
we used to play back and then dan when we
would go down into Arrowhead and play, and even when
we would lose a win, they were always feed us barbering,
thank you always the team be befee. This team barbecue
on our way out before the game is no, but.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Ken always do that.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
And Derek Thomas was one of the guys who in
the past away. He was one of the guy who's
kind of engineered that. And I know his mom had
kept up the tradition in that. So I mean the
chief fan. They travel well, but they're really good fans,
no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
All right, Well, michae let's get our first idea. We
had two of these during the post games. Get the
first of your scoreboard updates, and we got the other
one o'clock games coming to an end.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
That's right, the post game scoreboard brought to you by
the North Carolina Education Lottery and Digital Instance. It's a
whole new way to win mobile games and loads of
real cash prizes registered to play Digital Instance today. One
game still underway from the early games, the four o'clock games.
Right now, it's the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears,
(09:47):
all even at twenty seven. All the early games underway
as well. Denver, at Las Vegas, San Francisco, Green Bay, Arizona,
Seattle all scoreless right now, and Green Bay looks like
they're getting ready to punch one in. They came down
inside the red zone. But earlier today Tennessee knocks off Houston.
Kind of a surprise game there the wow Yeah, the
Houston's losing at home thirty two to twenty seven. Will
(10:10):
Levis for the Titans eighteen of twenty four, two hundred
and seventy eight yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Detroit
continues to roll. They're now ten to one, twenty four
to six winners over Indianapolis. New England on the road
loses to Miami thirty four fifteen to a tongue by
Low twenty nine to forty three hundred and seventeen yards
in the year, four touchdownouts and Drake may twenty two
(10:34):
thirty seven two hundred twenty one yards for New England
with a touchdown and an interception. Tampa Bay thirty the
New York Giants seven. That was not Daniel Jones's fault today.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
That a way to blame watch.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
Somehow the blame him. Baker Mayfield, former Panther quarterback twenty
four to thirty, two hundred and ninety four yards, no touchdowns,
no interceptions, and the ending in that Dallas game was
pretty wild. Uh so in that game, it was the
final thirty four to twenty six, but Washington Commanders were
down twenty six to twenty five, and they go for
(11:09):
an on side kick and then one yay, Thomas runs
it back forty three yards and they get the pat
and Dallas goes on to win that game thirty four
to twenty six. Coming up tonight, Philadelphia and the LA
Rams on they watch a good one. Yeah, it should
be a good one. And then on Monday Night Football
it's the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers. So
(11:31):
you have the Harbard brothers going, Oh brothers going monda
night football.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Okay, yep, A right. I wonder who the mom's going
to root for?
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Well, maybe mom roots for one and the dad woulds
to the other. Oh they did split the jacket, like
maybe or the teacher like one side, yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Or maybe they're like actually they don't like either one
of them. I would say John sleeps like the more
likable between. Some people love Jim Harp, I guess, but
I don't know. I don't know how to stake I
still think of Michigan. Jim Harp Okay, I can't get back.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
We need a breaking news sounder because yeah, Jordan Love
just threw an eleven yard touchdown pass. So Green Bay
now leads San Francisco seven to nothing.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
All right, what's from?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
More information on that? Go to the Green Bay Packers
Post game Show. Let's take a time out here. We

o'clock games. Come join us and see in person what
Green Bay and Minnesota are doing right now as we

Southern Star, the official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers. Celebrate
the spirit of the Carolinas and for.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
The Panthers, close but no win.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
A field goal in the closing seconds by Spencer Schrader
thirty one yarder and caps off at Kansas City win
thirty twenty seven over the Panthers. The one touchdown pass
in the game from Bryce Young went to David Moore.
He had six catches eighty one yards and that touchdown
to lead the Panthers targeted ten times by far, the
most of any after in this game, and it joins
(14:01):
the guys up in the booth for the postgame interview.
Speaker 7 (14:04):
We're joined by Panthers wide receiver David Moore. Best game
of the Panther uniform today six catches, eighty one yards.
But David, big picture, looking at what this team was
able to do in November, the two wins, the winning Munich.
I know you lost today, but you pushed Kansas City
down to the wire. What sort of progress did this
franchise make in the last month.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
I would say a huge, huge jump. Kind of just
been trusting like the whole time, just been trusting this
process and you know, taking it day by day and yeah,
today kind of got away from us. But just you know,
just over the past month, you see where we're going,
and we see that the future is bright, and we
just kind of believing in it more and more.
Speaker 6 (14:46):
So that's the good thing.
Speaker 9 (14:49):
Yeah, David, Jake Delome here, My question is gonna go
directly about Bryce. Is there a different confidence you see
with him? Is it just Sunday? Is it throughout the
course of the week because he's playing, You just seeing
progress week in and week out, and some of the
crossing routes, the throws that he makes, the tight windows throws.
What exactly are you seeing from him as a veteran
(15:11):
who's been around this game for a while.
Speaker 8 (15:12):
A lot of confidence for sure, much more than we
started out with, and that comes as a whole. But
just seeing him back there feel as comfortable as he
is to make the throws that he does, it's pretty
big and it's helping us out a lot, and that's
something we can get down with and you know, keep
going forward with and just watching him do that is
kind of, you know, just it makes all of us
(15:34):
happy and then shoot, we play good, So that's a
big thing.
Speaker 10 (15:39):
David, what's up. It's Luke, you got you had a
great game today. Just kind of talk about your connection
with Bryce's a couple of times where they go all
out pressure. You're running the outside breaking seven route and
Bryce just throws it before at her break, knowing exactly
where you're going to be.
Speaker 8 (15:51):
It's just that trust man, that trust that we work
on with all throughout the week and just hearing him
say where he's going to put it and you know,
kind of trust and him to put it there and
as he's trusting us to be there. So just kind
of that little connection that we try to work on
day in, day.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
Out, David.
Speaker 7 (16:08):
When you say we're trusting the process, but you're starting
to see results, what does that do to a locker room?
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Changes it completely.
Speaker 8 (16:17):
It shows you who your true identity is at the
end of the day, and it shows you where you
want to strive to be and where you want to
you know, maintain and grow from there. So I would
say it is done a lot to the locker.
Speaker 7 (16:32):
Room, David, thank you, congratulations on a great game, and
get after it again next weekend against Tampa.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
No doubt got it.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Appreciate it out a.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Day where they didn't have Jaalen Cocher, David Boar steps
up of course the return of Adam Thielen, so we
also we both do the health report later, but we
do at least some initial positive on J. G. Sanders,
who is moving the extremities when he was carted off
the field, and that's the first thing you look for,
is it just had awareness And I don't think at
this point that we have any further information landing right
(17:03):
in the crown of his helmet with that tackle right
before halftime there. So we'll get more.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
Hopefully before we get to the HM health report there.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
But Hey, David Moore just one of those guys again
that has been part of Dave Canalys's past, and a
guy that just understands kind of offensively the system and
those things are with the veteran player make it a
little bit easier, you know.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
And he also admits about a true identity. He says
about the true identity is, you know, sometimes mask a
little bit. But when you play a game like this,
even when you lose, sometimes you win and you're seeing
that the identity is starting to merge. He's talked about
the confidence that Bryce Young has and throwing the rock
when you're running those seven routes, is going up the
field a forty to five degree and go towards the sideline,
(17:45):
all right, Sometimes you stop.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Sometimes you throw the ball far far enough.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
You got to be in sync with the quarterback, and
sometimes the quarterback throws that ball.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Before you make your break, right.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
And so for him to say that, man, we're trusting
each other, that means there's a lot that's going on
behind the scenes that we don't know. Because that's a
difficult route to go ahead and hit, and to hit it,
whether you're doing a stop, whether you along get the
route that you whether you shorten the route, whether you
curve bend a route, there's a lot that goes on there,
and he's saying that there's a trust factor there. So
(18:17):
there's a lot behind the scenes, and that told me
a lot over the relationship between the quarterback and the receivers,
all of them.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
Yeah, and it takes time, right, I mean, this is
y Brice's second offense and as many yet well third
if you go back to college, right, next third offense
in three years, So it takes time to kind of
build up that trust and build up that, you know,
accountability with your teammates, and and that knowledge of not
only trusting the process, but trusting your teammates trust the process.
I always trust the start of that.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
Who was was that the Philadelpia seventy six ers or yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
But I think it was practical that I don't think
it was originally we talked about practice.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
But yeah, you've got to you gotta trust the process.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
But on the officive side of the above, there's so
much that goes on between the chemistry of a quarterback
and the receivers of where they need to be at,
and that the quarterback depends on throwing that ball at
that spot unless you sees something to go ahead to make.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
H to do something differently.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
But what I heard from more is that, Wow, Bryce
has improved a lot more than what you think.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
And you know those's there's practice reps, there's game reps
right now three straight starts and too early on this year.
But I think that was too early on where they
didn't really Again, we talked about it, and you were
an advocate of them playing more.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
In the preseason.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Absolutely wasn't getting in game live reps against other teams,
not practice against your own team. And now that he's
gotten that, you can see it's kind of clicking. And
now with that success is coming in some of the
confidence that Mike talked about, because you see a smile
on his face. I feel like a lot of that
tension has dissipated from.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Where it was early.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
I think you're absolutely right. And here's my pitch for
playing in the preseason. You learn a lot in the
preseason about your team, about the chemistry, about where you
need to be at where you hit the spot, particularly
at the quarterback or even in the defensive linebacker safety.
You learn a lot. And when you're deprived playing in
that live setting. You have to learn that during the season,
(20:09):
and that's when you don't want to learn during the
season because it's easy to make the mistakes earlier, throwing
those interceptions we saw today no interceptions, yeah, no one exceptions.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
And playing with joy, right. I mean, he's kind of
a positive kid, and you know last year was hard
for everybody, including him, and I think now you're seeing,
you know, kind of that confidence coming through him.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
You kind of you kind of learning.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
E Gene knows this, but it's like being said more
often outwardly. It's like the three phases off at defense
special teams. There's a fourth phase, which is true about
football and sports that maybe life in general.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Energy.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
There's an energy and a confidence and those things better.
Like if you're playing tight, if you're not playing loose it,
you know, you start thinking about what could go wrong
instead of just like trusting again what you've learned in practice, what.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
You did in live game reps.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
So look, they went down the field and scored against
Knas City.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
The tide of game up.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
They got the two points and to get the two
point convergence the tide of game up.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
I'm like, wow, Okay, you know.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Maybe right out of time. Maybe if there's another two
minutes and dealing.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
We didn't talk about dealing, dealing, getting back in the mix.
Ye what about that DPI though?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
It was huge?
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Yeah, because he runs great routs and he's dangerous.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Let him, let him e.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
All those things added up to time. Nearly get your spoon,
eat it up. All right, A lot more to continue
with as we are here in a lively North Lounge.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
Folks stick around, not going home. You don't want to
sit in traffic.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Just how to hang out here in the North Lounge
with us and watch the four o'clock games. Panthers come close,
don't get the win, but certainly some big progress showing
once again today thirty twenty seven Chiefs escape with the
victory on the last second field goal. More coming up
next down the Carolina Panthers radio network.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
All right, we're gonna skip ahead.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
We got a couple of things we want to get
to you with the postgame show. Still getting the audio
together with the coach and some of the highlights we
get all that put together. Good to hear from David
Moore there. We've got to get the guy's final thoughts
and all that. But yeah, usually save this till late,
but because we're going to get to the guy's final
thoughts a little bit later. Unless you are essential version
of that which is our three and out and the
hardest working Player of the Game presented by Sun Belt Reynolds,
(22:11):
official equipment partner of the Carolina Panthers. So hardest working
player of the game. What are you guys' thoughts.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
On that one?
Speaker 5 (22:19):
I think the candidate out a couple of candidates out.
I mean, I think Bryce Young is a candidate, But
I think it has to go on the defense, don't
you Like I think Clowney had a couple of sacks,
you know, I think just the way that I mean,
the defense gave up thirty points, but I mean they
put five sacks on Bryce Young and I mean on
(22:41):
h on Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
So Josie Jewels had to die tackles.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
He had one of the sacks today. So there's a
couple of good candidates on defense.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
I think when you're talking about a candidate on defense,
I think you have to give it to the entire
defensive front.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
I thought they did a great job collectively. Collectively.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
However, if we just talking of individual performance, I gotta
go to Bryce. I think that Bryce played extremely well.
I mean, I think he's not only careful with the ball,
but you talked about there with energy. Don't forget that
last drive down the field was to tie the game
against the defending champs, two time defending champs.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
So in my opinion, I'm gonna go with Bryce.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Live with that. He's been working hard to build himself
back up. I like that. You know, sometimes, you know, some.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
People might not have come back from where he was,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
And that work continues, not just in this game, like
hardest working player of the game, but just in general
the work he's put in over the past three the
game practicing and game back.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
So yeah, let's go with that. Do you like that one?
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Bryce, I'm to go with Eugene talk me into it.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
I'm talking, yeah, I'm good with Bryce.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
And he took five sacks with the Panthers defense on
top of it.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
He is amazing. I mean, just think about just how
hard that is.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
It's unexpected.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Well, you were making me think, Jim, it's your fault,
A wise cloud exactly.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
My team. We do my final thoughts as well.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
We will get the guys' final thoughts, but are three
and ounce what's kind of your overarching thought about maybe
the state of the team and where things are.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
He was six to go.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
You know, I think that they're not as far as
we think.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Going against Kansas City today showed me a lot about
the resolve the middle of this team. Offensively, I thought
they were able to go tip for tat if you will.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Uh, deficively, I thought that we could.
Speaker 11 (24:29):
Yeah, I thought, yeah, I thought overall deficively, I thought
that we there was some bin but don't break mentality,
And I really believe.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
That that Patrick Mahomes took advantage of that. He's just
that type of quarter He's just that good. So I
think there's some things that we have to do deficively.
But if I'm being honest, offensively, man, I see this
like a we turn in the corner that this seems.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Be just have a really good defense.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Face know we're turning. We're turning the corner, you know.
And so, yes, we should have won the game. And
I want to win the game. The players in that
locker room want to win the game. But sometimes when
you lose, you win, and sometimes when you when you lose,
and I'm going this.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Loss was a loss.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
But you know what, there was a lot of good
things that we did in this game that you move forward.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
I agree with that, So yeah, I think those are
things that will help you win in the future.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Well, I think we all know it's a parallel dynamic
of win today, but also what's the progress of the season,
what's the progress of your quarterback? Because you also have
to look at the fact that, let's look at reality,
we're not gonna run the table.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
So we're three and eight, so you really try to
win as.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Many as you can this year, and then also looking
into this off season, what are your needs, what are
the big picture personnel moves you have to be thinking about.
And I think today is a lot more to feel
good about then maybe, as you said, beating a lesser
opponent where you should.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
Beat the Giants. Honestly, they just bench Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
So it's like, good for us, we're doing the kind
of things you're expected to do.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
But we were like an eleven point underdog.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
In this game.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
Exactly. Again, covered I'm.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Talking like our friends in the desert might not have
been happy.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, we're not talking about the gambling aspect of so
much of a but that gives you a gauge of
what the thought was as far as how this game
was going to go. So I just kind of doubling
on what Eugene said, Love the progress, Love what we're seeing.
Things are headed in a positive way. But especially now
with the offense, that to me, it was a trickier part.
And we know that Chupa can run the ball. But
if we get that passing component going and no Jalen
(26:30):
Kocher today, get him back out there, there's lots of
lots to like there too.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Mike Well, I think a lot of times there's there's steps.
You know, you call it the process, whatever you want
to do right, there are certain things that have to
happen for winning teams to evolve. And today, even in
a loss, I think is a step forward because I mean,
look at the pressure we saw on the defense, didn't
turn the ball over, Bryce Young efficient, he played well
(26:54):
enough to earn a win today, exactly those you know,
if he's throwing interceptions, if guys are if the other
team is rushing for two hundred yards, you're not gonna
win games like that. So again, not moral victories, want
to win, but this team's at least starting to do
things right. And Dave Knols has been preaching protect the
football since the day he was hired. So that's starting
(27:15):
to sink in a little bit.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
You know.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
And we were able. We didn't run the ball and
that's our bread and butter. And I'm thinking we get
back to running that ball that fifty five to forty,
sixty to forty. And how careful and how carefree Bryce
was today.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
I think that's a recipe for success.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
But you know what third best rush defense?
Speaker 2 (27:36):
And you're right, it was like today Tuba is like
three point six yards per carious, So I guess what
they're daring you to.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
Throw the ball right exactly?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
And what happened now, It wasn't like four hundred yards
to sixty three on that defense a lot. I say,
that's a nice adjustment to be able to throw the ball.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, absolutely so, yeah, and here it does. And we're
talking about three and ows defensively. Isn't just me?
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Is a one them?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Is just that guy on defense? We talk about Brian
Burds and maybe losing the Brian Burds. Uh, what was
the other young man that we had who went to
the Eagles?
Speaker 4 (28:08):
H Hassan Redick Hassan Riddick.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Yeah, guys who make a statement when they rush.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
I see that with one of them.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I'm like, oh my goodness, dude on the outside, Well,
we had that sack with with Clowney and also I
think of Robinson, they shared a sack.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
It was because the pressure on the.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Outside by one of them for uh before some mahomes
back up in the pocket and then boom boom. You
see everybody's on top of them. I'm like, good that
dude on the outside is a beast man. He's been balling,
so one of them. Keep doing what you're doing, don't.
All right, good, keep doing what you're doing. Good stuff,
All right, that's not the end of the show.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
The last second.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
We're just busy collecting audio and we're gonna hear from
Coach Canalis. We're gonna hit some highlights going here. We'll
get there with Luke and Jake and Denise should get
their final thoughts to all to come. Thirty twenty seven
Chiefs win over the Panthers. You're listening to the Southern
Suburban postgame show and it's brought you buy Morse.
Speaker 1 (29:00):

Speaker 6 (29:17):
All the cool kids are here, some in red, some
in blue, some in black. Whatever we have you all here.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
We appreciate each of every one of you being here.
Get some of the highlights from this game coming up
in just a moment. First, though, let's go and pause
ten seconds for station identification on the Carolina Panthers radio network.
Kansas City wins thirty to twenty seven over the Panthers.
Spencer Schrader a thirty one yard field goal after the
Panthers had tied it in the final two minutes on
a Tube Hubbard one yard our two yard touchdown run
(29:45):
a one yard two point conversion because of that penalty.
To make it a little bit shorter, we're gonna listen
back to some of the calls of the game of
some of the high lights. Here we'll skip ahead to
the second half. Remember the Panthers are down twenty to
six at one point in the first half, twenty to
nine at halftime. Here's the one touchdown pass of the game.
From Bryce Young to David Moore.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Feeling motions right now, motions back to slot left, Chiefs
crowding the box. Here's the snap, the give no, the
throat of the end zone, caught for a touchdown the RPO.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
It's David Moore.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
So that brought the Panthers, of course, closer. They had
thought about going for a two point ever they had
a penalty, so it makes it twenty to sixteen. Late
in the game, the Panthers down by eight. Cuba Hubbard
to the rescue. Here with the short touchdown run Hubbard.
Speaker 7 (30:39):
The running back snap gift to Cuba right side tube,
the plows into the end zone. Carolina on two point
conversion from tying it up against the two time defending
Super Bowl champions.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
And they would get the two point conversion back to
the well.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
They went with Chuba Hubbard and got it after trying
on a pass attempt that there was another pass interference
against Kansas City, so they had it at the one
yard line. Tie the game at that point, twenty seven
to twenty seven. But hey, it's Patrick Mahomes. It's Kansas City.
Big play was he made a run with his legs
and he gets down. I think thirty something yards gets
him in field goal range. Sets it up here for
(31:17):
the thirty one yarder for Spencer Schrader.
Speaker 7 (31:24):
Now the biggest kick of his NFL career, a thirty
one yarder for the win. Snap hold the kick by Schrader.
It is up, It is good, and Kansas City on
a last second field goal tops Carolina. Final score Chiefs
thirty Panthers twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
So tough way to lose it, no doubt. But again
you look at the level of difficulty to now ten
and one. Kansas City Chiefs barely escape with the win.
Head back to their plates of barbecue in Kansas City.

to help Jatavian Sanders having to leave the game on
a cart but landed on his head. Reports were that
he was moving his arms and legs and extremity, so
that was a good initial prognosis as far as what's
going on there, And again that's all we have for
certainty right now.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
If we hear of something more.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
We'll certainly pass that along year, but we'll talk more
about that on Panther Talk tomorrow night too.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
So thirty to.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Twenty seven, and again it was a different guys contributing
defense and offense.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
There were some key moments and special teams too. Because
you think about.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Getting that two point play, yep, some of the other
aspects of what happened on today. I mean, it really
was complimentary football. And you know, the thing, guys was
like they didn't look it didn't look too big for
them today. It didn't look like, oh no, it's the Chiefs,
how can we do this today?
Speaker 6 (32:50):
It just felt like two teams.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
If you didn't know who was in the uniforms, if
they were wearing generic uniforms, probably wouldn't be able to tell.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
Much of a difference between either of the two teams.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Right, And that's the part, Gene. When you're you know,
two or three win team, it's very easy to fall
into that oh here we go again.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Mode.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
And this team, even though they were down but almost
two touchdowns, they still were able to come back and
make this a game and force overtime.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Then when you look at the stats on this the
third down efficiency, They're they're almost comparable. Yeah yeah, I
mean really comparable even in the time of possession. Kind
of got a little bit out of wack towards the end,
a little bit, but primarily they were they were almost
dead even this This was an even Stephen game, if
you will. And I thought the difference maker was Patrick Mahomes.
(33:35):
He's always been the difference maker in the fourth quarter.
If you got that guy that ball right there, he's
gonna do something with it. He's gonna get you in
scoring position. He's he's just that guy. Reminds me of
Joe Montana. He's just that guy. And so every generation
seems to have what he is, in my opinion, the
best quarterback that we've seen since Tom Brady and Brady.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Just don't need to end up, you know, just a
couple of years turning on in.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
But how many times do you see what looks like
utter disaster then Mahomes turns it into or show pass
for a Touchdow.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
Just he makes capability.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
He makes quarterbackings seem very very and it's hard, but
he makes it look really easy.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
He seems like when the pocket started a breakdown, instead
of running back he'll kind of run up like he
climbs the pocket, and then he'll break up our backup,
I shouldn't say backup.
Speaker 6 (34:23):
And then it's like he.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Creates that space because he tricks you in because of
that threat of running. He tricks you and to think
he's gonna run, and then he creates space by backing
right back up.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
His field vision is yeah, absolutely, and.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Then what does it do to the secondary?
Speaker 3 (34:35):
When we went back there and you see all that movement,
you're like, get a guy quickly.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Plaster, find your guy, Find your guy, find the guy.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
And where you're running around trying to defend against Mahomes
by getting on your guy who's now you know, playing basketball,
you know, improvising doing zig zaggy almost like drawn up
in the sand.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
That's what happens with a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes. He's
he's just that good.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
He really is.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
He's just that good.
Speaker 6 (34:59):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
And again, even the way he operates with Kelsey as
was not like a super productive day between the two
of them, but so much of that is well known,
as like Kelsey goes on route and it's just choice
routes where he just like he knows where he's gonna go,
the defender doesn't and he makes a decision. But they
have such synergy after these couple of years together that
Mahomes and him just kind of know, you go run
this route and if you add libit a little bit,
the ball will be delivered.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
Where you think it should be.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
You know, when they played Buffalo and lost to Buffalo
Kansas City, it was important for Buffalo make sure they
had the ball in their hands last. They didn't want
the ball to be in his hands last. Why because
he's that god Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
Whoever had a ball last, that's what he's. That guy.
Mahomes is just that guy.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
And he's able to with a minute in forty six
seconds loven o'clock, We're going, wow, that's too much time. Mahomes,
he's just that good. He can get to a field
goal range with seconds again by these seconds on the game,
but he can't.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
You know, there you go, my dog, I got to
you got me And hey, Mike, you know what they say,
coffee is for closers.
Speaker 5 (35:57):
Softis close. They say it.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Doesn't apply to football, but somehow it works its way
into the broadcast. So when we come back and we're
not closing yet Coach canals will be joining us. We'll
get the final thoughts from the booth and one more
scoreboard update from Mike. The score here tonight thirty twenty
seven Chiefs over the Panthers, but more to come here,
so we continue on the postgame show on the Carolina
Panthers Radio Network. Nice to say in today's American culture
(36:28):
that here at the North Lounge we have red and
blue living together.
Speaker 6 (36:31):
Yes, red and blue. There nothing political, just.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Football and fans hanging out and having a beverage here
and enjoining the Southern Starbourban postgame show. Although the Panthers
didn't win two teams that were very evenly matched thirty
to twenty seven the finals, the Panthers, who had won
two games in a row, nearly took down the two
time defending Super Bowl champions.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Let's hear the thoughts of the head coach, Dave Canalis.
Speaker 7 (36:54):
We're joined by Panthers head coach Dave Canais. Dave, I
know you're not in the business of moral victories, but
from where this team started to what you saw today
against what is the gold standard in the NFL, how
would you assess how this franchise in this team has progressed.
Speaker 12 (37:12):
I'm just proud of the guys. I'm proud of the
fight of this team, the finish mentality that we're building here,
you know, for the guys to just continue to play
ball as long as there's time, as long as there's grass,
just keep playing for those opportunities, you know. And so
I can't I can't say that enough, you know. But
at the same time, like you said, you know, there's
no moral victories for us. It's about executing. It's about
(37:33):
finishing in the red zone. We come away with the
phild goals, the defense stopped them mostly and then we
gave up that touchdown for the half, you know. And
you know, so just wanting to make sure, like our
guys is like, yes, we can feel what's happening, we
can feel us becoming a team, but at the same time,
we have to be able to finish for sixty minutes.
And that's the challenge for us.
Speaker 7 (37:51):
And that last part, does that stick with you because
the Chiefs played a clean game, took a great player
to make a great play. But when you kind of
look back, is they're a part of you that says, hey,
you know, we could have had this absolutely.
Speaker 12 (38:04):
You know again it goes back to, you know, the
first half, moving the ball like we wanted to, ending
up in the red zone and and having just some
near misses and coming away with phil goals instead of touchdowns.
You know, it's like all those things kind of just go,
you know, go through my mind.
Speaker 6 (38:18):
You know.
Speaker 12 (38:18):
Defensively, like there's you know, some penalties, some things that
we that we certainly can clean up so that we
don't make it you know, easy for a really good offense,
a really good a great player in Pat Mahomes to
be able to you know, get more opportunities.
Speaker 9 (38:30):
Hey, coach, is Jake proud of the effort watching this
team play today? I think on both sides of the football,
I'll probably let lou Kid defense. My thing is this Offensively,
it just seems like I don't know if it's an
Adam Thielen factor him coming back, but it just feels offensively,
we're starting to grow, We're starting to there's more elements
to this offense starting to be added. Is that's the
progression you're seeing in Bryce or is that you know,
(38:52):
getting a feeling and David Moore to security Blank, is
that you know you can trust with all these other
young guys.
Speaker 12 (38:58):
You know, it's the whole thing. And you know has
to start up front with our offensive line a great
job in protection to allow us to get some of
those plays off. You know, it was the trust factor
of building weeks upon weeks of knowing where they're supposed
to be so that when there is pressure, when there
might be a free player, Bryce is able to anticipate
and get the ball out, you know, to those guys
(39:18):
as they're you know, right before they're coming open. And
so I just see a whole group just learning how
to trust each other and really you know, developing an
attacking style.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
Coach, what's up?
Speaker 10 (39:31):
It's Luke just wanted to kind of talk about the
addition of dj Wantam and just him elevating this pass rush.
Speaker 6 (39:36):
I mean, so season high five sactions. What does he
bring to the table.
Speaker 10 (39:39):
I feel like he frees up you, Davian to get
more one on ones on the other side.
Speaker 12 (39:43):
Absolutely, you know, and that's that's having two good rushers
on the outside, but also just the different games that
coach of Jarrow's able to to play to try to
get those singles, try to get those one on one rushes,
you know, and and create some pressure that way.
Speaker 6 (39:55):
So it's the whole group, you know.
Speaker 12 (39:57):
And dj Wanum is a guy that's a pros pro
and a guy that prepares the right way. He's so
meticulous and so intentional about his rush plan, about the
way he plays a run, all those things. And so
I think when you have a bunch of guys working
together like that, it just kind of brings up the
whole group terms of their intentionality during the week.
Speaker 7 (40:14):
And Dave Bryce Young watching him deal and make some
big time throws today, what was your assessment of his performance.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
I'm just proud of him.
Speaker 12 (40:22):
I'm proud of the way that he just, you know,
continues to find great matchups, you know, growing in the systems,
you know, all the things that it requires, you know,
just just it just felt good to be able to
call plays, to know that our guys are going to
be out there doing what they're supposed to be doing
and taking the most of the opportunities.
Speaker 7 (40:42):
Dave appreciated as always, Thank you.
Speaker 6 (40:44):
All right, Thanks guys.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
All right, So again, nobody happy about not getting to win.
Coach Janalli said that up front, but again, you look
at the big picture, just like what this team is
doing where the direction is where they're trying to get
not only this season, but moving into this offseason and
the next season. After six more games, certainly a lot
lot better feeling to say, like about a month ago, right, yeah,
(41:07):
And I think that's why it's like a phase thing, right,
Like you can't go from being utterly.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
Bad to good overnight. I mean the steps you have
to hit this stage where, man, we could have won
this game, should have won this game, but at least
those things positive things. Now the next stage is to
win these games. Yes, right, absolutely, I mean that might've
been overly simplistic.
Speaker 6 (41:28):
I was just leaving Eugene in Avenue to see if
he was gonna say anything more.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
No, I wasn't gonna say anything more because I think
you said it all.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
All right, Mike said it all. We're gonna make Eugene
talks some more because we're not done yet, Okay, gonna
come back and we're gonna get the guy's final thoughts
from the booth. And we had another scoreboard update to
get to with Mike as well. Again the final score
here thirty twenty seven Chiefs escape with the win over
the Panthers. You're listening to Carolina Panthers Football brought you
by Boris Jackins.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Back to Bred McMillan with more of the Panthers postgame
show pre See him by Southern Star un official bourbon

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Oh look, your genes created a situation here because we
get back group photo going on as he You know,
we've made friends with all the Chiefs fans, but this
happens like every he's made for all the best loooking
Chiefs fans.
Speaker 6 (42:22):
Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna do a selfie while doing
a show.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
Yeah, we're photo bombing. That's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (42:28):
Everybody's there.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Absolutely have fun.
Speaker 6 (42:31):
We like Chiefs fans a lot more than we thought
we were going to.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
But this is like a weekly occurrence.
Speaker 6 (42:36):
Yeah, but here's the thing that we thought they were
going to. But not more than Panther fans.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
No, no, no, more than we thought we would like
Chiefs fans, but very friendly, Midwestern, good Midwest folk.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Yeah, but I think they're from Charlotte and then the Swifties.
Oh I forgot.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Just by the way, the intel we had was actually
went home to Nashville from her last count.
Speaker 5 (42:56):
That's that far.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
That's where Taylor lives. Okay, she was out of Theydon's game.
Speaker 6 (43:00):
That's where she lives.
Speaker 5 (43:01):
I got it right, Okay.
Speaker 6 (43:02):
I don't think she's dating a Titan now.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
No, no, no, I think we would have heard about it.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Yes, well, we definitely heard about that.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Well, these were some of our final thoughts. Let's shore
what the other guys had to say with their final thoughts,
shall we? And they send it back to the booth
and to hear what the guys have to say. After
watching the Chiefs escape thirty twenty seven over the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (43:19):
Final score from Charlotte and Bank of America Stadium, Chiefs
thirty Panthers twenty seven. What a game, Carolina. The defense
comes up with multiple fourth quarter stops, gives the offense
a chance. At the end, Panthers march down field, get
a touchdown, a two point conversion, they tie the game,
(43:40):
and we were all thinking about it. We said it
before the Panthers punched it in from a yard out.
There's going to be too much time and listen what
it took for the Chiefs to beat the Panthers was
one of the greatest players of all time making the
type of play that those eyes make.
Speaker 10 (44:01):
Yeah, and he it was interesting. I didn't feel like
Mahomes beat us on that last drive with his arm
at all. He beat us with his legs, and it's
something that's it's easier said than done. But in order
to keep him in the pocket and limit his ability
to get outside the pocket is is what hurt us today.
They hit a couple third downs where he was able
to scramble and go get it with his legs. There
was a couple third downs where he extended to play
(44:22):
in the pocket and was able to create time and
finding a wide open receiver. And then certainly on that
last drive just able to escape again with his legs.
But just you know, obviously that we didn't win, But
I just feel like the toughness of this team is
starting to really come out. I think it showed on
that run by Cuba to convert where he runs through
Chris Jones. He's got a clean look on Cuba hits
(44:45):
him firmly behind the line of scrimmage and Tuba is
able to fall forward. So, yeah, Mahomes is one of
the best players ever. I feel like he beat us
with his legs more than he beat us with his arm.
But I feel like overall toughness and effort intensity from
our team is really starting to come through.
Speaker 7 (44:59):
Jake, I know the lost things because when you go
back and you watch the film, as Dave Canalis will
do over the next twenty four hours, he's gonna look
at plays in the first half, red zone opportunities where
this team had a chance to get six seven instead
of three, and ultimately that matters in the outcome. But
(45:24):
I think when you evaluate Bryce Young in the two
years that we've seen him, and we've watched every single
one of his games, to me, this was the best
he's looked from start to finish.
Speaker 9 (45:36):
Yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (45:39):
I agree with you there.
Speaker 9 (45:40):
I think the big thing I guess maybe when I
take away from today, I just think there's got to
be a confidence this Yes we came up on the
short end, but it's got to be a confidence by
this offense one but also for the quarterback himself. However
way you want to look at it. Last year was
(46:00):
rough to start the season was terrible. It's a different
mindset that he's playing with and I just think you
saw growth today. Some of the cross he stood in
the pocket and he got flipped a couple of times today.
Speaker 6 (46:13):
That that's big boy throws.
Speaker 9 (46:15):
That's big decisions and to make big throws on this
final drive to go down to get the you know,
the two pi's back to back to get the touchdown
to get the two point. We did so many good things.
I think Bryce did step up. Accuracy was really good.
We were late getting our run game going today, that's
one thing, but I think that I think the Chiefs
had something to do with it. One lack of possessions
(46:36):
or should I say plays in the first half red zone.
But I liked our offensive design today. I thought I
saw like we did different things. We set up certain things.
That's growth to me. Same thing on defense, Yeah, we
struggled some and I think we knew that this team's
gonna make a struggle.
Speaker 6 (46:56):
But the blitz by j C.
Speaker 9 (46:57):
Horn, not from the line of scrimmage, from a little
bit back on Patrick Mahomes to give us an opportunity.
Those are the things that I think maybe I'm just
kind of getting encouraged by.
Speaker 7 (47:07):
Yeah and Luke to that point. On defense, this has
been for most of the year. It's a bend, but
don't break defense. These last three games, though, when it's mattered,
we have seen this defense come up with a lot
of big stops.
Speaker 10 (47:21):
Obviously last week against the Giants, you get the forced
fumble to start the overtime period, you go down and
kick a field goal, win struggling in the second half,
and then hey, we're starting to make a run on
the offense.
Speaker 6 (47:30):
Side of the ball.
Speaker 10 (47:31):
We get those two stops in the second half and
give ourselves a chance to go down there and score,
get the two point conversion and be tied.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
They're going in.
Speaker 10 (47:38):
So for us, we're starting to see we're starting to
see progression in the right direction. We just I keep
thinking today, what would have helped us a lot today?
Derek Brown. It would have been so helpful to have
Derek Brown just as a pocket push. When you play
a guy like Mahomes, in order to get in his face,
you need to push the pocket. So you always look
where are those guys, and you know, sometimes they're on
(47:59):
your roster, some times you're not. But Derek Brown is
on our roster. I saw him today. He looks great.
So just it's it's just a matter of time before
we get some of these guys back. But we're just
we're just one or two guys short right now. On
that pass rush set allowed Mahomes to get out late.
Speaker 7 (48:13):
It feels different, doesn't it. Yeah, it just does. It's
a it's a good feeling.
Speaker 9 (48:19):
No, it's a good feel. It's like, Okay, we're seeing
a little something. But this, this is what I'm excited about.
We have Tampa next week. We have a Tampa team
that's coming in. They're they're riding a high. They want
easy today, right, they're coming. I mean that that's you know,
I don't want to look too far ahead. But then
there there's Philly, right, I mean, that's a good football team.
So like, let's we just played the two time defending
(48:41):
World Hamps. Build, build on this, come back to work tomorrow,
game plan wise this week, get better at practice.
Speaker 7 (48:49):
I mean, yeah, two and one in November and a
near upset of the two time defending Super Bowl champions.
We put some blocks together in the month of November.
Panthers come up on the short end of this one.
But you can't deny the progress this team is made.
Speaker 6 (49:06):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Absolutely positive steps made today despite not getting the win.
We've said it before, you can win a game by
not playing that well, but you can also lose a game.
You feel like you did play well in this team on.
Speaker 6 (49:16):
Both sides of the ball did just that.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
We'll get to a final commentary from Mike and Eugene
and the final scoreboard when we come back next and
do our final segment here as we wrap things up
here from the North Lounge, and appreciate you stay in
tune with us on your way home. On the Southern
Star Bourbon postgame Show. You're listening to Panthers Football brought
to you by Morris Jenkins.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
The Panthers postgame Show continues pre seem a by Southern
Star unofficial Bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit
of the Carolinas.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Chiefs win over the Panthers thirty to twenty seven on
a last second field goal by Spencer Schrader, but the
Panthers can certainly take a lot pride in the way
they played against the two time defending Super Bowl champs.
Speaker 6 (49:59):
Fact the team it's been to the Super Bowl four
of the last five years.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
Thanks to our crew, Harold Hamrick and Jerry Dowd, Wendell Black,

Speaker 5 (50:28):
That's right, I have I'm previously engaged or otherwise engaged.
Speaker 6 (50:31):
Oh does your wife know that?
Speaker 5 (50:33):
Well, now she does.
Speaker 6 (50:36):
This is how we find out. That's our escape.
Speaker 2 (50:38):
Let's breaking, so just kind of are just kidding. Yeah,
a work engagement, a work engagement, and you still have
work to do.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
Here. One more check of the scoreboard here before we
get out.
Speaker 5 (50:51):
All right, Jim the driver on the league brought to
you by your Honda Dealers of the Carolinas and in
Las Vegas, Denver has just kicked a sixty five.
Speaker 6 (51:01):
Wow field goal. My goodness appletes.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
An eight play drive in two minutes fifty five seconds.
So Vegas leeds ten to nine in that game. Green Bay,
this is an interesting game as well. Seventeen nothing Packers,
Jordan Love already ninety three yards passing with a touchdown,
Christian McCaffrey only one yard rushing in that game.
Speaker 4 (51:20):
Ouch, my goodness.
Speaker 5 (51:21):
And then Arizona three nothing over Seattle four to fifty
four to go. All those games in the second quarter
coming up tonight, it'll be let me give one that
we uh it was just going final. But last time
we did the scoreboard, Minnesota thirty to twenty seven in
overtime over Chicago. It was a twenty nine yard field
goal for John Parker, Romo and Sam Donald in that
(51:44):
game twenty two to thirty four, three hundred and thirty yards,
two touchdowns and no interception.
Speaker 6 (51:48):
Continues to ball Outram.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
Donald, Sam Donald and also Baker May Baker next week,
I know, my goodness. So don't still have been playing
extremely well.
Speaker 6 (51:57):
But that just tells you too.
Speaker 5 (51:58):
I mean, sometimes you just have to have Sometimes you
have to go through some struggles to find your way.
And those guys have certainly found their way.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
And Bryce is doing it right now. So hope Bryce
can keep up stacking them together. As far as good
performances here, I think people are gonna feel good to
tonight and tomorrow when they talk about it on the
talk shows and so forth. Watching some of the Twitter
feed right now and what people are saying about that,
it feels to be that kind of a take obviously
when you take the World Champs down to the final.
Speaker 6 (52:23):
Play of the game.
Speaker 2 (52:24):
But again, we'll start again next week, got Tampa Bay
and see if they can actually get a win here
at home and kind of finish the job.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
And don't forget Kansas City's they were banking on the
fact that we can take away to run. Make sure
we take away to run. Okay, Bryce, can you beat us?
And then Bryce nearly beat you, really nearly beat you out.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
And that's really good. And another thing we hadn't talked about.
We didn't talk about the penalties. There were a number of.
Speaker 3 (52:45):
Penalties that really arrested the uh, you know, your position
and and the rest of the game and the flow
of the game where this game could have been decided.
Speaker 6 (52:53):
There was Pelties his crew is really wanted to throw
those flights today.
Speaker 5 (52:56):
Yeah, and and but the penalties combined.
Speaker 4 (52:59):
But they were equal because they would throw them on
both sides of the ball.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Yeah, they just wanted their TV time, Yes, they did,
all right, Well, good work today, guys.
Speaker 5 (53:05):
Appreciate it is the people too.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
It was fun, that's right. Referees, just like punters, are
people too. But next week, I appreciate you, guys, Mike
and Eugene, and well appreciate you, buddy. We'll get most
of us back together next week. Is Michael will be
back eventually because he's where's he gonna go thirty seven?
Speaker 4 (53:20):
Where we go?
Speaker 6 (53:20):
Anywhere?
Speaker 2 (53:23):
I heard he was engaged to be to be continued
dot dot com. That's just studying, Cliff and Fliphanger. Well,
we'll do the ending sometime down the road. Whenever Mike
returns thirty to twenty seven Panthers come up to submit. Sure,
thanks for listening if you still are, and we'll check
you out and again next week.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Mike was engaged and.
