Speaker 1 (00:03):
Now to Jim Zoki with the Panthers postgame show presuming
by Southern Star un official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers
celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
And here we go as the Panthers come up short
thirty four to twenty four against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jim, Mike,
and Eugene with you for the next hour and the
Southern Star Bourbon postgame show. And here to wrap things up,
we'll listen back to some of the highlights of the game.
We'll give you the stats from this game. Mike Scott
scores from across the NFL. We'll hear from coach Dave

(00:38):
Canalis and some of the Panther players following this ten
point loss, where the Panthers had their opportunities, didn't play
a perfect game, but at least again we're able to
show offense that keeps them in ballgames in this one
in particular, Andy Dalton two hundred and twenty yards, two touchdowns,
one interception, Chewba Hubbard over one hundred yards rushing for
the second straight game, and Antae Johnson targeted thirteen times,

(01:02):
seven catches eighty three yards.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Of course, no Adam thieland today.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
But Eugene I thought buying large offense did about what
you would hope to expect against the Bengals defense let
them down. I know they're playing a good team, Joe Burrow,
and of course they just put up thirty three and
their thirty eight thirty three lost Monday to Washington, so
you know they're gonna put up their points. But support,
tackling and some other things on the defensive side that
really didn't keep us in the ball game all the
way through. It.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Typically when you have a close game, and this is
really a close game, when you look at the stats,
and when you look through the line of the stats,
they're very they're very very even from third down percentage,
from yards, rushing, from ross passing the quarterbacks. Everything looks even.
So what happens is when you don't capitalize on a
chance to go fourth on your four downs, to go

(01:45):
put the ball in the end zone to get seven
points out of that or either walk away with some
points out of that, or if you don't capitalize on
an interception where they capitalize on interception get a touchdown,
we get an interception Nephing crickets that becomes the difference
in the game. And so yeah, I think we're trending
in the right direction. Because when I look at the
Cincinnati Bengals team, I'm reminded of the Kansas City Chiefs

(02:09):
game and how close that game was. It came down
to one play, the safety making the player on the ball.
If it's not a DPI, it's a different ball game,
and they end up winning that game. And that's a
quality opponent. So I when I compare apples apples and
we're going against the same opponent, I'm like, we're not
as bad as you may think. I think the defense
was a little let us down a little bit, no

(02:31):
doubt about that. I think we have some injuries of
that defense too. We weren't as cohesive. We were in
cohesive with edges. But all that said, I'm saying this
is not all gloom and doom at all. It really isn't.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Yeah, this team is definitely in a better position after
the last two weeks. Oh they were in the first
two weeks. I think today boiled down to just I mean,
I hate to bring back an old OLDI but a goodie.
But missed opportunities, oh, missed opportune unity. Thank you river
about Ron, thank you for that. Yeah, missed opportunities and
you know, a couple of plays go your way. I mean,

(03:06):
you know, I mean David can Allis was you know
you bring up every about Ron. I mean he he
went for it on a couple of fourth thounds, didn't
get it, went for a fake punt, and I think
the fake punt, if you go back to that, you know,
maybe a little bit dangerous because it was on minus
thirty five. However, to me, that's one of those plays
where if it's executed, everyone thinks it's a great call.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Yeah, here it is. It's like, you got to make
the plays when you have the opportunity to make the play.
There was a play that me will called right across
the middle of the field. I mean, when we need
to go ahead and make a play to extend to
drive and hits him right in the hand and he
drops the ball. Well, you can't go, hey, I'm gonna
get the next one. Oh yeah, I'm gonna got the
next one. There ain't gonna be no next one. And
you can't give a team that's really really good the

(03:46):
opportunities to go ahead and have a chance at the ball.
And so from that standpoint, You're right, a found a
timp at at at a fake a fake play. You
gotta be able to convert on those things because you
don't have the chances in the National Football League to
go ahead and convert. So when you've got an opportunity,
you gotta make it. If not, I'm sorry, you will
not be winning games.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, examvir league get I think dropped a couple you
mention go dropped it and the guy got a touchdown today.
Did have six catches sixty six yards mingo three for
twenty four. But again the stats are basically even. When
you'll get time in possession, you are pretty even. I
by I think not having Adam Thielny this was maybe
something that could have made this game even tighter, if
not maybe even a different outcome today.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
You know Adam Thielan we talked about last year, how man,
this guy is great man, but he can't be your
number one receiver. Well, he's gonna be that guy who's
gonna be that number one or number two receiver that's
gonna go ahead and catch about six seven eight passes
to compliment whoever the number one guy is. And you
I don't think you'll do that by committee. And when
that's when you have a chance leg or you have

(04:48):
a chance Mingo to be that guy. You gotta be
that guy. You have to be shorthanded because if you're not,
they will always find somebody else to do that job,
and then you will miss an opportunity to go ahead
and ad best in the national four, but more importantly,
help your team go ahead and win a game.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
All right, So the Panthers unable to stack wins as
they win in Vegas last week, but fall to one
and three with the loss at home today against Cincinnati.
Next week will be a road game at Chicago. We're
gonna take a break here and when we come back,
Michael update you on the scoreboard. Lots more to come
as we continue here on the Southern Star Bourbon postgame show.

(05:24):
As the Panthers saw thirty four twenty four today here
to home against the Bengals at Bank of America Stadium,
and more coming up next on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Bengals thirty four Panthers twenty four Finals score at Bank
of America Stadium today Jim z Okilong with Mike Pachico,
Eugene Robinson, much ground to cover here on the Southern

(05:47):
Starbourbon postgame show in the North Lounge, and Mike, let's
go get a check up the finals and now the
four o'clock games that are underway in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
Yeah, and one just going about to go final here
it's Minnesota thirty one, Dream Bay twenty nine. Green Bay
just looked like they tried to go for nonce like
kick didn't get it, and so now it'll be uh,
Minnesota's ball here with about fifty five seconds left to go.
Games underway, Washington at Arizona, that game all even at
seven apiece. San Francisco three nothing at home against New England.

(06:15):
That's two twenty six to go in the first quarter there.
Casey and the La Chargers just getting underway, as are
the Cleveland Browns and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Earlier scores.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Atlanta New Orleans twenty four. Crazy game. Looks like, you know,
a lot of touchdowns for Atlanta, but two of them
were actually one was.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
A fumble recovery, the other was a pick six.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Otherwise it was four coup field goals in that game
as they beat New Orleans by two. So now New
Orleans two and two Atlanta two and two, so big
became there. In the NFC, South Chicago twenty four to
eighteen at home over the La Rams. Caleb Williams seventeen
of twenty three hundred and fifty seven yards with a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
CJ.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Stroud Leeds over Houston over Jacksonville twenty four to twenty.
He was twenty seven or forty three hundred and forty
two yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. Joe Flacco replacing Anthony
Richardson in Indianapolis. They'd beat Pittsburgh twenty seven to twenty
four Flaco six hundred and sixty eight yards in the air,
two touchdowns, almost a baseball score here, Denver ten, New

(07:14):
York Jets nine. Bo Nicks his first NFL touchdown sixty
yards passing in the game, not the touchdown, I mean,
that's just sixty yards in the game. He was twelve
of twenty five and Baker Mayfield throws for three hundred
and forty seven yards Tampa Bay beats Philadelphia at thirty
three two sixteen, so three touchdowns there for Baker Mayfield.
We mentioned the games already underway right now, A couple

(07:35):
of games well, one tonight, two tomorrow Buffalo is at Baltimore,
and then the two Monday night games Tennessee's at Miami
and Seattle's at Detroit. The post game scoreboard brought to
you by the North Carolina Education Lottery and Digital Instance.
It's a whole new way to win mobile games and
loads of real cash prizes registered to play Digital Instance today.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
All right, So, Eugene, as we look at what happened today,
I think a lot of folks are just optimistic in
the fact that showing offensive abilities, like even being down
the game, there was at least hope until late in
the game the Panthers will come back. Nobody satisfied about that,
but there's something to work with there. At least we
feel like, I hate to say, we could be down
ten to seven.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
I felt like, oh this is over. We can't over
down three.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
You feel like in this game, if you're down even
two touchdowns, that you've got the explosiveness that you're at
least a factor where you've got.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
The chance to come back and be in the game.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
This is a quarterback driven game, there's no mistake about that.
And the decision to go to Andy Dalton's been really
to what the right decision Andy Dalton made some really
good plays in It to day and some really good
passes that that last testdown pass him like, man, he
threw the post route before the guy broke on his
post row. And I'm like, that's exactly what you need.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
To go to do.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
And the fact that we have this ability to score,
it seems like it just keeps us and the fans
locked into the game because you have a chance. Oh
you know what, we may go and score. Now we
couldn't say that all the time. Now we can say
that we can actually score, We can actually move the change.
I thought, and going back to Zolp, I thought that

(09:09):
a deepense is where we had the trouble. The deepense
and no case, you got two linebackers. You had Shack
get hurt and then Jill got hurt. You got two linebackers.
When we run a three four system. Three four system
means you're using four linebackers, and so you got two
starting linebackers that, oh, you don't know what that situation
may be, and now you got to fill in that.
So there's things that you got to go in and

(09:30):
work on. But I thought our deepens may have been
the culprit today.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Well, and I think no one likes to hear this,
But we're kind of in the movie What About Bob,
And we're still in the baby step stage, you.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Baby steps?

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Yeah, a little babyshit.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
You gotta take baby sat and sometimes you maybe you
take a step backwards before you take a step forward.
But I think the biggest thing that we're saying, hopefully
this comes out of all this is Andy Dolphin. Is
I mean you just mentioned though, is Bryce Young paying
attention and learning and then being able to maybe have
the game slow down a little bit in his head
and understand not only what throws to make when, but

(10:06):
also how to make those throws because we've seen a
couple of times running the same plays. This isn't like
a new playbook exactly, and it's just giving him kind
of a roadmap of how to maybe make his adjustments
moving forward.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
There is a calmness about Andy Dalton when he's back
there that he just really exhibits and demonstrates, and the
fact that he throws the person open and the anticipation
factor that he has when we go back last week
and we go back to today, what we saw man
he throws the ball with great timing. I'm hoping that
Bryce is taking notice that he's not panic back there.

(10:39):
He's trusting his guys. He's able to get to his
first his second read and then make a really good
decision a way to go with the ball that allows
us to be in games. And when you're not careless
with the ball or that hazard or oh I didn't
see the right thing, I thought I saw this. He's
not doing any of that stuff. He's really, really a
good solid quarterback who knows where to go with the

(11:02):
ball or sometimes to eat the ball or throw the
ball away.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Just like it.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yep, And you said throwing guys open the timing of
the place.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I mean, that's the thing about players.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
You couldn't scheme and this and that, and again the
fans can't possibly know by watching at home, but they
don't know if the runner and the receiver have cut
at the right time on their route. You don't know
if the quarterback is a split second lege if he is,
if they're blocking for a seven step drop and he
wanders just a step back. All these things in the
pocket matter as well. With Andy Dalton, you have to
worry about all those little sub issues like exactly.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
There was a situation later on in the game where
we had the ball and it's like maybe three or
four minutes left, and we turned it over on downs,
But there was a play where Andy drops back on
third down and third down and eight and he has
to roll off to his left hand side. The reason
why he rolls out because Equano didn't see that stunt
that was happening, and then he saw it too late,

(11:52):
and now there's a guy in his face and now
he's rushing out of the pocket trying to make something happen.
Where if he stays in the pocket and has just
a for a second the throw the rock, he's gonna
connect on the outside for maybe about a fifteen eighteen
yard game. But that did not matter life because the
officeive line did not pick up the stunt. So it's
not really always on the quarterback. But having a quarterback

(12:14):
like Andy knowing what to do, that makes all the
difference in the world. And this is a quarterback driven.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
League, all right.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
When we come back, we'll listen back to some of
the highlights from this game today and the calls from
the guys in the booth with a Niche and Jake
and Luke today, They've got, of course, coach Canals. Their
interview with him will be coming up in just a
little while. We'll hear from some of these Panther players
as well, and a lot to get to here. Panthers
fall by ten at home to Cincinnati thirty four, twenty four.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Stay with us.

Panthers Postgame Show presented by Southern Star, Official Bourbon of
the Carolina Panthers, celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas. Fox checked.
All right, so for the check the bat. Listen back
to some of the highlights. We just have three will
bring you touchdown calls. And it was a game where
it started off whe the Panthers went forward on fourth

(13:43):
and goal.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
We'll talk we should talk about.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
That in a minute here as the Panthers came up
empty on that early drive. But here is the biggest
play of the game as far as just something I
should never have happened. Joe Burrow and it gets it
to Jamar Chase sixty three yard catch and run, and
I do mean and run for the Cincinnati touchdown trips.

Speaker 6 (14:01):
To the left. Burrow is in the shotgun sample the
h back. Here's the snap, Burrow looking looking as Tom
drills it over the middle to Chase, absorbs the hit
from Wood, still going. He's got the forty down the
left sideline. Thirty twenty fifteen ten five touchdown Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
So the Bengals with the touchdown there Panthers, though Andy
Dalton had two touchdown passes today.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
The rookie Xavier Legette here for the h yard touchdown grab.

Speaker 6 (14:31):
From the pistol Dalton. The snap fakes the Sanders rolling
left throws.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
That's up touchdown.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
Saviorly get the first of his career and the rookie
has the Panthers within an extra point of time began.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Bengals would go on a little run after that, though.
They got a touchdown that would make it fourteen all,
twenty one, fourteen going into the locker room at halftime,
and then they come out to score another touchdown to
go up by fourteen, and then the seventeen with the
field goal here, but the Panthers claw back into the game,
and it was a Dalton to Deontay Johnson here on
the twenty one yard touchdown toss.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
Dalton, is it empty? Here's the snap pocket holds Andy
fires downfield?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
What six touchdown?

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Hand zel center cut dean ty Johnson.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
All right, So thirty four to twenty four the finals,
the Bengals win, and was early on obviously ug when
the Panthers go for it short I think it was
fourth and goal from the two yard line, try to
go for it there? Are you a fan of doing
that early on? So you just get some points on
the boards with a field goal? What's your thoughts so
when when you hit that close.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
I'm always been a proponent of I don't want to
be in a gun situation where you're gonna hand the
ball off because if you're the defense, and you think
about it, you have to stop them. The running back
has to run six seven yards just to get to
pick up the one yard or to two yards. I'm
much more of a proponent to get under cinder. And
now look at the arterback and says a quarterback, see

(16:01):
what gafter took a sneak and because all we need
is a half a yard a half yard, that's all
we need. But when you have to go ahead, when
you're in the gun and then hand the ball off
that block and better be dang solid, because if it's not,
your running back's gonna get stuff. And every defense when
you get down there and they're like, look, we can't
go to any far, mister protect against his run. The

(16:21):
guys who have passed, make sure you stay your past.
And so from next to that point comes I thought,
I'm sitting there, so going. I would love for a
quarterback sneak in those situations because it's a little bit
closer that you don't have that many yards to go
ahead and get.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
And Mike another big play that we just listened to
you there was the Jabbar Chase catch it run sixty
three yards on that ran through a number of tackles
as he starts running latterly against down the left sideline.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
There you see that in college. You should not see
that in pro football.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
That really yeah, I know.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
And once he got the sideline, I mean, he was
Katie bar the you know, he was off the to
the races. And you know, I think we've seen a
couple of times this year in games where the tackling
teams be a little bit too high and not maybe
waste and lower exactly what.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Sometimes you have to stay up, but normally you want
to hit a man right at the where you've been
at where you go ahead you've been to make that
good solid tackle. And I know that chases Jamar Chase
is a beast. I totally get that, but he's not
that much better than everybody. You know what, you can't
make that tackle and to give up sixty three yards

(17:26):
that's huge that it's absolutely those are the explosive plays
that you want to eliminate. And it starts with that
quarterback and then it spills off into the receiver and
so not capitalize on that only exacerbations of the problems
that we've got.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
All right, So those are some of the moments that
were critical in the game as the Panthers, with the
fall behind by three scores at one point, try to
get back into it but come up short thirty four
to twenty four. We'll hear from the guys in the
booth with their final thoughts of waiting to coach Dave
Canalis his interview with the guys, and also we'll.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Hear from some of these U Panther players as well.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Mike's get another scoreboard to update to do for you
to keep you up to date with the games in
progress in the NFL. The final Bengals win over the
Panthers thirty four to twenty four. More to come as
we continue on the Southern Star Bourbon postgame Show on
the Carolina Panthers Radio Network. Thirty four to twenty four
Bengals over the Panthers at Bank of America's Stadium. We're

(18:21):
in the North Lounge if you want to stop by
a CEUs here. As we continue on the Southern Star
Bourbon postgame Show, Jim z Oki along with Eugene Robinson
Mike Pachico. Families affected by Hurricane Helen urgently need your support.
Help the American Red Cross provide meals and shelter to
those families.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
And donate today to Hurricane.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Helen relief efforts by going to Redcross dot org slash NFL.
And guys, my daughter lives up in Ashville. She's been without.
They got their electricity back, but no water, no cell service.
Standing in line at the grocery store today for a
couple hours. Wow, I get some food. So and Inventor
to come come stay with us down here in Charlotte.

(18:58):
She's only two hours away. But roads are tough and
some places out all together. So a lot of people
in a panther nation out there in this area really
affected by this.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
There's no doubt about that. And when you see the
images and the pictures up there, you realize how dire
or that that situation is. And so I know that
the efforts to get people out there to go and help,
it's gonna be community things should go ahead and help,
and so anything that people can do to help, please
do it.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Indeed, Yeah, devastating stuff for sure there.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
All right, So we'll talk some more about what's happened
in this game today at ten point loss to the Bengals,
after we get the thoughts of the guys up in
the booth and their final thoughts.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
The Panthers fall to one in three after a thirty
four to twenty four loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Story
of this game wasn't so much that Cincinnati, which we
knew was better than an OZ to three team, came
in and ran the ball and threw the ball all
over the place and just dominated Carolina. That wasn't the case.
You're the Panthers. You kind of walk away going. There's

(19:55):
three plays in this game. You had first and goal
at the two, four shot zero points. That was the
opening drive of the game. An interception led to seven
points off a short field by Cincinnati, and then a
gutsy call that almost worked a fake punt when you
were down. In the second half, Johnny Hecker delivers a

(20:19):
strike to Felipe Franks, who looked like he had to
catch it, was knocked away as he was coming to
the ground and ruled incomplete correctly make two of those plays, Jake,
I think we got a different outcome.

Speaker 7 (20:31):
There's no doubt. I think the one thing, the glimmer
of hope that I'm looking at. Offensively, we're showing something.
I think we can run the football, and we were
doing it without our starting left guard today, and I
think Zavalla came in and did a decent job today.
We've run the ball pretty well today, but you go
back to the first drive, twelve play drive turnover on downs,
and you know, just three out of the four runs

(20:53):
we did on that play, we're in the shotgun and
I'm not so sure. Kind of wish we might have
been under center and getting the ball. And the turnovers today.
I think the turnovers on downs we had a couple
of those today and then certainly the pick and you
can't give Joe Burrow many opportunities. I will say that
he threw the ball well. He has a ton of receivers,
and then they ran it well in the second half.

(21:16):
But again, we're a team that we had some We've
had some tough injuries this season. We had a couple
of tough ones today. Where this goes forward, it means
young guys are going to.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Have to step up.

Speaker 7 (21:29):
Very simple offensively, I'll say it again, I like what
we're doing offensively. We look like a functioning offense the
last couple of weeks. And we scored twenty four today
and you can go ask anyone in that locker room.
They feel there's ten to seventeen points that were left
out on the field, and if you do that the
rest of the season, you're gonna give yourself a chance.

Speaker 8 (21:49):
Yeah, And I think you look from the defensive side
of the ball. I think we're going to watch this
tape tomorrow and be like, hey, we were in the
right spot, we were in the right place.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
We didn't win.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
We didn't tackle well enough to the Jamar Chase long
touchdown run. That's a really good player. The one that
kind of irks me a little bit is the end
of the half was Zack Moss quick swing pass. We
were in the right place, we get him on the ground,
half runs out, they don't score, and they ended up scoring.
They ended up scoring a touchdown the next place. He

(22:20):
wiped that one off the board. And then we just
weren't quite good enough in the reds And we talked
about it this whole season. We've struggled in the red zone,
not being able to get stopped. So on the defensive
side of the ball, we had to tackle better, we
have to be better in the red zone, and we
got to go make plays and it just it just
didn't work out for us. Joe Burrow was able to
sit back there very comfortable. We didn't affect him enough
with four man pressure. So offense, I thought played really

(22:43):
well today. That first drive was a bummer. We didn't score,
but like Jake said, there's points that we left out
there and you don't want that to happen. But on
the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
We didn't.

Speaker 8 (22:52):
We didn't play well enough today.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Yeah, and that point on Zack Moss right before halftime,
we talked about it. At the end of the first half,
Bengals scored than they scored a touchdown on their first
drive after receiving the kick in the third quarter, all
of a sudden the game that you feel that you're
in control. You're now down twenty eight to fourteen, and
it seemed not seemed the Panthers were climbing uphill from

(23:13):
that point onwards.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Yeah, we just I just I see growth.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
I do too, I see growth, I feel growth.

Speaker 7 (23:22):
I mean like I'm I'm I'm happy and exabul to
get today. And then also he there's a couple of
things we left out on the field. But like just
knowing the personality of this young kid, he's gonna come
in tomorrow and say, Okay, I gotta be so much
better mingo same way. I mean those guys like there's
some life there. I just it's it's somewhat encourage you.

(23:43):
We're going to Chicago next week, right, That's not a
scary offense, to say the least. Bit we can put
up points on this team. It's not like we're facing
Joe Burrow and and all these weapons that they have.

Speaker 6 (23:53):
October maybe we call it red October because there's an
opportunity here for Andy Dalton and his team. You face
three rookie quarterbacks and we'll see what shakes out in Atlanta.
Maybe four if Michael Pennox is somehow starting as well.
Panthers go one and three in the month of September.
But these last two weeks with Andy Dalton at the Helm,

(24:15):
there is a different field. There is a different vibe,
There is a different energy, especially on the offensive side.
Four hundred and thirty seven yards of total offense against
Vegas three seventy five today. There was a time not
too long ago where you talk about eight hundred plus
yards of offense. That might have been five weeks for
the Panthers. They've done that in the last two weeks

(24:36):
defensively got to get healthy. Final score Bengals thirty four,
Panthers twenty four. It's on to Chicago, all.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Right, thanks guys and Mike. While we're talking.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Injuries here, just to recap and update when you got
your two best tacklers going out today.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Yeah, this injury part brought to you by a Triam Health.
You deserve to live your best life with a Triam
Health Atrium Health here to help Shaq Thompson and Josie
you'll both go down. Yes, injuries and the official word
right now, it's still in the evaluation process, so no
word yet on MRIs and things like that, but obviously
Monday will be uh a day one more get at

(25:13):
least the initial update on on those two injuries.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
And don't forget. Like I said, we run a three
four system. Three four system implies you have four linebackers,
three down linemen, and so when you have two major
contributors who have to go out of the game and
be in transition, that throws a lot of things off.
I mean, I saw some nickel out there, and then
nickel four to three type situation to go ahead and

(25:36):
compensate for having those backers out.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
Yeah, I've already depleted a little bit there on the
defensive Yes, shy title, shy title, Jordan Fuller.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, so you're talking about half of your starting defensive out.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
And that accountant. That's what Luke is talking about too,
because don't forget, he's saying, Hey, now I want the
other guys to be better. And so when you have
an opportunity to make a tackle on Moss, you got
to make the tackle. You can like not go ahead
and say, oh, I'll get the next one. You gotta
make that. And so that's part of being that guy
coming off the bench. And then we're talking about the

(26:09):
secondary and making that tackle. If you make that tackle
on Mass right there, it's a totally different ball game,
a totally different ball game. Take the seven points off
the ball, and then they don't get the ball and
maybe have to struggle to get seven points. You don't know.
And so from that standpoint, when the player's coming your way,
my coach always said, hey, you gotta make the ones
that come your way. That's what you're responsible for.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
And those are opportunity. Those injuries, as devastating as they are,
there are also opportunities for guys and you make that play, yes,
and now you got that's a little bit more confidence
going into the next player or the next time you
see it and know how to react.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
And then you don't set yourself up for just being
a backup, right, you know, you set yourself up of being, Hey,
I'm the guy, and look I need to be on
the field all the time, that type of situation. So
you know, injuries happened in the game, and when your
time is called, you got you got, you gotta, you
gotta perform. You have to perform.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
We'll hear from the head coach Dave Canal says. We
continue here from North Lounge for a while longer. Southern
Starbourbon postgame Show thirty four to twenty four Bengals beat
the Panthers and you're listening to Panthers Football presented by
Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Back to the Panthers postgame show presuming by Southern Star
unofficial Bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the Spirit of
the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Fifth quarter and at the Southern Star Bourbon post game
show in the North Lounge, we're here with you, Jim,
along with Mike and Eugene thirty four to twenty four.
Bengals beat the Panthers. We'll have more coming up, right,
noallis pause briefly ten seconds for station identification on the
Carolina Panthers radio network.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
All right, so thirty four to.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Twenty four, both the Panthers and Bengals now with one
in three records.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
After Cincinnati's victory.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Here at Carolina, Panthers will be at Chicago coming up
next Sunday. Let's send it back to the booth and
the Jaw guys are joined by the head coach, Dave Canalis.

Speaker 6 (27:54):
We're joined by Panthers head coach Dave Canalis. Valiant effort
coach by this defense with all the injuries that piled up.
But you know, ultimately, when you kind of look back
at this game, is there a couple of plays that
that stick out at you as a KUDA would have.

Speaker 9 (28:11):
Certainly, you know, just finishing that first drive inside the
five with the attitude of mentality that we want to
be about, you know, that was a huge opportunity for us.
And again, you know, the the good part about it
was it's just we didn't blink, you know, and it
was you can't pass judgment on the outcome of the
game based on what happens at the beginning. You know,
we have to just continue to keep playing football, which

(28:31):
we did and worked ourselves into into just playing normal
ball for a while there.

Speaker 7 (28:36):
Hey, coach, is Jake here? Offensively, it just seems like
there's just new life. I mean, from the run game
to the pass game. Andy had a great day today
and by all accounts, I think we had a legitimate
five maybe six drops.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (28:50):
Just what's so different offensively and how much of your
system have you put in it? And is there's still
more to come.

Speaker 9 (28:56):
There's still a lot of wrinkles, Jake, you know, but
for us right now, it's about fundamental execution and being
able to you know, know when I call this call man,
we know where this ball's going, and to be able
to execute that way. And so I see huge strides happening.
I love seeing the run game paired with just pushing
the ball down the field, which we got a couple
of really good opportunities down there that I would love
to come away with, you know, big explosive plays that

(29:18):
I thought we missed, and of course, like you mentioned it,
just you know, just executing on the on the little
stuff you know, making the catches that are there to
make continuing drives that way, you know. And but we're
coming together and it's the balance. It's the balance of
the runs, the actions, uh, the quick game and drop back,
all the things that we're counting on is really starting
to take strides.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
You know.

Speaker 9 (29:37):
But we got to finish and we got to finish plays,
finish drives and finish games on our you know, on
our terms.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
Coach, what's up. It's Luke. It's good to see Xavier
Leguet in the game. I felt like we really really
felt him today. Can you just kind of talk about
his development the last two weeks?

Speaker 9 (29:52):
Yeah, you know, just what I noticed from him in
the first, you know, a couple of games here is
is we see a guy that will play fast, and
he gives us a chance to really, you know, do
some cool things with him within our system, you know,
and love to see him finish a couple of those
catches that he had. I know he's sick about it too,
but he just continues to play with great game speed,
which is really encouraging at this point in his career.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Awesome, coach, We appreciate your time.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Thank you, all right, thank you Panthers Locker Room Show
has brought to you by Southern Star and official bourbon
of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas.
And it's one of the things we talked about off
the top is with feeling out, is going to be
a minimum of at least three more games. Neither young guys,
both Jonathan Mingo and Xavier League got to be able
to step up and to show that they're making progress.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
And even through that conversation, and Jake was absolutely right,
He's like, even though you get what he was able
to do, what stands out is that the plays that
he wasn't able to go ahead and make, and you
want to be able to go ahead and capitalize on that.
And yeah, I think he will. And it's good to
hear that coach says he plays fast because I want

(30:58):
that receiver to play fast. Steve Smith comes to mind
when I think about somebody playing fast. It's just like
he's at a different speed and everybody else. And the
fact that le Get is at that different speed that
the coaches recognized, Yes, we got to get you the ball,
but when we get you to rock, you got to deliver.
You got to make sure you hold onto it and
you got to go ahead and eat after that, and

(31:18):
hopefully he can get to that point where he can
go to eat.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
And then there are other examples out of his ball
from other players. But I like what Coach Knell said about,
you know, got to finish not just the games, but
you finish drives and going back into execution of the
small things, doing the little things, and you know, Exaber
like that's kind of the guy we were talking about
the last segment, right, I mean, this is an opportunity
for him and you'd like to see him and I

(31:41):
know he felt he probably left some plays out there,
but you know, hopefully that's part of the developmental process
and you know those drops will be you know, lessen
things of the past.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
One guy who I want to see even more so
we got Hubbard. I want to see him more of
a passing throat. I would love to see him get
that you get the rock like we used to do
Christian McCaffrey, because I think he's special. There's something about
the way he runs the rock that he's trying to
run over people and then he runs away from people.
I mean when he gets the ball, it's almost there's

(32:12):
always positive. Off the very first play, he picks up
like five yards on the very first plate, and I'm
sitting there going, this dude wants to play. He wants
to let everybody know in the Carolina is that he's
not a backup, that he's the main guy, that he's
your guy. So being the main guy, I would love
for him to get more touches in the pass in
the situation.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
And he's earned it.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
I mean, he was giving absolutely was he a fifth
round fifth round pit and so yeah, you bringing Miles
Sanders with the contract. He's waited his time, and they
go and draft Jonathan Brooks and he.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Just keeps showing.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
He shows up. You know.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
I just say about being an independent contractor, he is
showing that he can really play ball, and he's gonna
force somebody's hand because somebody's gonna want to pay for
those services, whether it's here or somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
At the end of the sea's absolute.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
I mean, he makes the statement every time he gets
the ball. He did that last year and he's doing
it now. He just makes something happens. He looks apart,
and I think he's grown into this role where he
realizes that I don't care who are you bringing here.
It doesn't matter because I'm the.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Guy playing solid today one hundred and four yards.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
So back to BASSI did one hundred yard rushing games
and five point eight yards per carry.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Today four catches seventeen yards.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Much more to come as we continue here from the
North Lounge at Bank of America Stadium, Southern Starbourbon post
game show. Panthers fall by ten to Cincinnati thirty four
to twenty four, and this is the Carolina Panthers Radio Network, thirty.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Four to twenty four.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Bengals win over the Panthers and Panthers dropped to one
and three on the season. Can't follow up the win
at Las Vegas last week. We're talking last segment about
the rookie wide receiver out of South Carolina and Xavier
League gets six catches sixty six.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Yards and an interview with the guys up in the booth.

Speaker 6 (33:50):
Now we're joined by Panthers rookie wide receiver Xavier League.
Get describe that first touchdown?

Speaker 10 (33:56):
Oh Man said, Man, we have been telling them if
I get up for tear down there that I was
gonna rad that'll be a lot of the field.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
That's what I did.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
Where did that touchdown celebration come from?

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Man?

Speaker 10 (34:09):
You know how horses and everybody they seem in the
little the country this in so man, I just want
to give them what they want.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
Xavier, Jake delom Here, I love it, you know, I
love me some race horses. We haven't got the nickname
for you just yet. We're gonna be working on that.
But just my question for you, as many players as
you've played the last couple of weeks, what's the biggest
adjustment you've seen so far coming from college to the NFL.

Speaker 10 (34:34):
Man, I just say, man, just being more detailed from college. Uh,
you know, college you can kind of get away with
some small things, but this is the details in this league.

Speaker 8 (34:43):
Man, Xavier, look here fun watching you play today, and
I enjoy watching guys like you play football. Talk about
how much fun you've had the last couple of weeks.
I feel like you've been way more involved in the
game plan.

Speaker 11 (34:53):
Oh.

Speaker 10 (34:54):
Man, I've been having fun since I got here, man.
But just being able to get more involved in the
offense and know that the ball coming my way, Man,
that just give me some more steam, man, And I'm
very excited for my opportunities awesome.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
As a young guy, Xavier, what have you learned from
guys like Adam Feeling and Deontay Johnson who's been around him?

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (35:14):
Man, Deontay Man just the high son and he is
with his releases.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Man.

Speaker 10 (35:18):
I try to study some of the things, some of
the things that he does. And just Feeling, Man, he
big on the detail.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Man.

Speaker 10 (35:23):
So I just keep him around me and just have
him in my ear the whole game.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
Man.

Speaker 10 (35:29):
He been talking to me, trying to keep my motivation
open and I keep my energy up.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
And what are you gonna do with that football from
the touchdown?

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (35:36):
Man, I'm gonna give it to my grandma.

Speaker 11 (35:38):
Man.

Speaker 10 (35:38):
Uh, It's something that she wanted, and man, it's something
my mom and my dad wanted as well.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Man.

Speaker 10 (35:43):
But she's the closest thing to them, so I want
to give her the boy.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
Absolutely, Xavier appreciate it. Congratulations, No, No, I appreciate y'all.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
He is just a national treasure.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Excellent.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Yeah, I mean good for him getting his first NFL
touchdown and Grandma's get and riding his horse. Remember Josh
Normant with his horse Delta. Why do I remember his
horse's name?

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Delta?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
I don't know, but he referenced enough time. So for
Xavier having that opportunity today, yeah, there's no doubt about that.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
But there's something endearing about him, There's no doubt about
It's something in and qualities about him and the fact
that he wants to give that game ball to his grandmother.
I think that's a that's standing el standy.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Love to hear it. All right, We've got more to
get to.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
We will also be getting another scoreboard from Mike kristin
Balboni sighting perhaps that was in the pre production meeting plans.
If not, we will carry on with ourselves here, but
a couple more breaks to take as we continue to
post game after math of a thirty four to twenty
four loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. You're listening to Panthers
Football presented by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Back to Jim's OK with more of the Panthers postgame
show preseem by Southern Star un official bourbon of the
Carolina Panthers. Celebrate this spirit up in Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
All right, thirty four to twenty four finals scorer as
the Panthers fall at home to the Cincinnati Bengals today,
both teams now with records of one and three.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Let's get with Mike.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Now get another scoreboard update of the games in progress
in the finals from today in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (37:16):
All right, thank you very much, Jim. This drive around
the league brought to you by your Honda Dalers of
the Carolinas. Games underway right now. Washington fourteen to seven
on the road at Arizona, San Francisco, a pick six,
had a couple of field goals, So now they lead
New England at home thirteen to nothing. Chargers over the Chiefs,
tend to nothing second quarter in La Las Vegas at home,

(37:38):
trailing ten to seven to the Browns, about nine to
fifty left to go in the first half there and
then won the earlier one game that went final after
we did the last scoreboard was Minnesota winning on the
road at Green Bay thirty one to twenty nine. Sam
Darnold threw for two hundred and seventy five yards three
touchdowns with one interception. Of course, coming up to it'll

(38:00):
be Buffalo at Baltimore, so that should be an interesting game.
And then tomorrow two Monday night games Tennessee at Miami
at seven thirty and then Seattle at Detroit at eight
to fifteen.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
All right, so the Panthers unable to get to win here.
We play at Chicago next week. They win twenty four
eighteen over the Rams. Of course, their story is Caleb Williams,
the rookie quarterback, only one hundred and fifty seven yards.
Of course, we haven't seen it, so we're just looking
at the stats pag here. But seventeen out of twenty
three one to fifty seven, one touchdown, so not big numbers.
In the past game, they did run for one hundred

(38:31):
and thirty one yards. Today, DeAndre Swift ninety three yards,
had five point eight per carry with a touchdown in
that one.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
He was also their top.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Receiver seven catches seventy two yards, So he looks like
he's obviously become the centerpiece of what they're doing, at
least in this ball game today.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
And also the President's Cup. I've been watching the President's Okay,
you're in the United States sixteen to ten right now,
right and projected at eighteen point five to go ahead
and win the Cup, USA, Go USA, And so I've
been watching that the last couple of days, and it's
been riveting.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
It's funny. I watched Thursday a lot of it. They're
up five to nothing in the next day. I tuned
in Friday at the end of the day because I've
been doing stuff all day. It was five five A
What does happened?

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Exactly?

Speaker 2 (39:10):
So it's gona be ten in a row if the
USA holds on to win the President's Cup.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Here, yeah, and it looks like they're gonna definitely win
the President's Cup. When you up that nin point sixteen,
there's no way other team can come back. So there
you go.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
All right, we got one more segment to do. We're
gonna do our three and out final thoughts. We're gonna
have our Sunbelt hardest working player. Put the final wraps
on this one. Here from Bank of America Stadium, Panthers
lose to Cincinnati thirty four to twenty four. Panthers Football
brought to you by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
The Panthers postgame show continues pre see them a by
Southern Star un official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate
the spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Are we going? Yes? I could hear us. I could
hear us, and we should.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Be talking and we're back.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Final segment Kristin Balboni joining us here for the final segment.

Speaker 11 (40:08):
I was keeping you guys from starting though, just.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
I think it's funy Eugene's only been paying attention producing
the show.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
Good work.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Thank you, Matt Hogan pro.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Matt Hogan is also here. We always take attendance. Thirty
four to twenty four Bengals win over the Panthers. Kristin,
thanks for coming down. Here's never as fine after a
loss as it is after a win. And sadly, a
couple more injuries for a defense that's already been hit
for so many injuries, and we'll see the extent of those.

(40:36):
But with both Shack and Josie Jewel coming out on
a tough day of tackling out there, that that's not
good news.

Speaker 11 (40:41):
It was a It was a tough transition too, because
you saw Shack or I saw Shack go into the
injury tent. He was in there for a while, they
signaled for the cart to come over, and then immediately
once he left the injury tent, Josie Jewel went in.
And that is just I mean, neither one of them
looked looked happy leaving the field. Of course, we will
find out the official designations were shocked with a heel

(41:05):
injury and then jo Ci hamstring and groin I believe
off the top of my head. So we'll see, we'll
see what the what the tests show. But you know
you had to Trevin Wallace out there with with the
comms helmet, you know, That's that's where it got to
at that point.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
What's that like exactly in the middle of the game.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
Too, swimming? I mean, he wants to be able to
have to talk to the coaches to get things kind
of settled. But when you got to do that much communication,
you start to you don't do your.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Job as well, could you.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
I know, it's hard to do your job as well
unless you're a seasoned vetermin like a Luke or Shaq,
who can listen to the coaches and get things distributed,
delegate responsibility and do their job. So that's very difficult.
And also I was thinking here, but that's there's more
problems than just that.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
That was tackling, yes, and that was huge.

Speaker 11 (41:55):
That's what our broadcast partner, Luke Keigley was hammering home
all throughout the.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
Broch does he know about tackling when he just.

Speaker 11 (42:02):
Kept saying we were there we were there, we just
did not tackle. I gotta imagine that's that's going to
be tough on Monday.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
Yes, yeah, But then.

Speaker 11 (42:14):
Do you think here's my question, do you guys do
you think that they were in those positions so if
they can just if you're looking on the bright side,
if they can just make those tackles wrap up, is
it a different game?

Speaker 3 (42:27):
I think so.

Speaker 5 (42:28):
I mean I think with you know, it's you know,
we kind of joked about this a couple of weeks ago,
but the Dutch boy analogy, right, I mean last year
it seemed like offensively.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
I don't know that. I don't know what that means
Dutch boy.

Speaker 12 (42:45):
Yes, we don't let your gene tell the story, thank
you so, but butay, it just seems like once you
plug one hole the it springs a leak somewhere else.

Speaker 11 (42:55):
Yeah, yeah, that's certainly what.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
But you tell about angles, like sometimes you could be there,
but it's like you got to have the right angles
sometimes to be able to actually finish the tackle.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
That is an art to really tackle it, and particularly
when you run into that type of speed and how
much distance that you get the guy that waiting for
the guy to make his cut, if a single a tackle,
do you go out and do a row tackle. There's
so many things that you could go and do, but
we always say, when you're in position and you're that close,
you gotta make it. You have to make it, even
if he runs me over, even if I get my

(43:29):
body up and sacrifice. Okay, I know I'm not gonna
make this tackle, but let me slow them up so
much that it helps the other guys who are pursuing
make the tackle. A lot about tackling is angles and
putting people back into I gotta fold them back into
Zoat because Zoak's in the middle of the fiel. Let
me get him back to Zoat because he's running. They
go and make those those plays as they thinks you

(43:50):
don't not appreciate it. So whenever you're able to do that,
you become a really good tackling. And here's the problem.
When you don't tackle well and messes with your confidence
and the other guys see it on the other team,
they go like this, Oh, he ain't tackling me. Mass
is thinking, you ain't never tackled me. I never you
get close to me, you're gonna get nothing but a
step arm in the face. But that's what they stopped thinking,

(44:11):
because you're not tackling well, and you don't want that
to be the moniker that you're not a good tackler.
When I would go make tackles, I'm like, look, I
want him to know I'm there.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
Yeah, another topic, I'm guess out of here. The offense
also for their part, among the things, they did some
good things obviously Cuba Hubbard and some others, just some
great things. That Andy Dalton dropped passes that it includes
Johnny Hecker's pass too. Yes, special teams, Like it was
almost contagious way that we dropped a number of passes too.

Speaker 11 (44:37):
You just wanted to see that one, the Johnny Hecker pass.
I mean they you know, they hold that one in
the pocket and they just hold it, hold it, hold it,
and you really want to see that one completed. But
we were counting upstairs after the game. We thought maybe
six six catches that could have been and they were dropped.
And you know the young guys, Exavior Leaguet especially like
he's going to figure it out, right, he's with experience,

(44:59):
but with no Adam Deeling. You know, someone's got to
figure it out.

Speaker 4 (45:04):
You know, he was saying that Adam Thielen was in
this air this and I know it's a concentration thing
at times, and but your confidence will stock the way
when you don't make those cutches, and then what happens
is the quarterback doesn't believe in you and won't throw
the ball away.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
All right, we'll stick around, christ We got two final
thoughts here, We got our three and ounsers of your
big thought to bring us out as far as you
do take away from the game, and we have to
make our selection of the Sunbelt hardest working player before
we do that, though, shout out to and Micha will
elaborate on this.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
John Pachico, Yes, this week Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Kthleck, tell them what happened with that, because it ties
into our hardest working player.

Speaker 5 (45:43):
Right, So our coach, I'mory new coach of Charlotte Catholic
this year. His institute of new tradition hardest working player
in practice leading into the game gets a red ax
and he helps lead the team out onto the field
before the game. And my son John was picked this
week and helped lead the team out against Independence. No
doubt Money Catholic big win on the road at Independence.
So shut out to money.

Speaker 11 (46:05):
I know you're a proud dad.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 5 (46:07):
Yeah, both mom and I were very excited. That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Indeed, all right, we should have picked that for this game.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
Now The Hardest Working Player of the Game, presented by
sun Belt Reynolds, the official equipment partner up the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Usually we kind of talk about it in advance.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
I think a candidate to throw out there has got
to be Chuba Hubbard again right this week? Yes, that
was about four yards rushing eighteen carries, four catches in
the game, had a touchdown, very similar to the production
he had last week in Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
Another candidate that was can that's my candidate right there? Agree?

Speaker 4 (46:36):
All right?

Speaker 3 (46:37):
Cuba? Is that all right?

Speaker 2 (46:38):
Final thoughts from each of us, just kind of like
the big picture here, Eugenie, I go first.

Speaker 4 (46:43):
Yeah, I'm gonna say deepense, defense, you gotta you gotta
show up. I think officively we're doing really some good things,
but defensively, you got to show up in I don't
care who's in there, what position, I don't care who's hurt,
who's not hurt. If you if you sign up and
you out there, you got to make those praise that
come here. You got it. You have to. That's part
of your job. You got to get it done.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
Yeah, that was gonna be mine. I wasn't gonna jump
in second, But since you brought it there, I was
going to piggyback on that. Like you've got last year
a defense that kept you in games because you didn't
have a lot of offense. Yep, you need the defense
to keep the score download.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (47:13):
This is a Cincinnati team that lost with putting thirty
three on the board at Washington on Monday night, so
it's not unusual for them to put up thirty four.
But for this team to win games and stay in games,
they got to keep the score low. And as you said,
no matter who it is that's out there, got to
figure it out some way.

Speaker 11 (47:27):
All right, Kristin, I think you know, on the bright side,
as you said, this offense looks like it has some
spark too.

Speaker 4 (47:34):
Watching.

Speaker 11 (47:35):
Yes, he's watching Andy Dalton down there on the sidelines
and he's you know, I heard him tell Jalen Cooker, Hey,
if you're not sure about something, I'm here to help,
like I can. You know, in the middle of everything,
he's doing. He's also a mentor for these guys. He's
getting everyone on the same page. He's still being a
mentor to Bryce Young, you know, and Bryce is right
there in the mix too. It just feels like this
offense is rejuvenated. And you know, even if we look

(47:55):
at that first drive where they were unable to come
away with points, you still see them move the ball
down the which is something that we haven't seen the
Panthers do in quite some time. So I am energized
by that if the defense can just you know, keep
those points down.

Speaker 5 (48:08):
As you guys said, all right, Mike, and I was
just gonna say, I think offensively, I like that we're
starting to see this offense have an identity that everybody
obviously the team can get behind. But it's something I
think it's really good for the fans because now you know,
you know, in this game thirty four to twenty four,
but there was a point in this game it was
only a touchdown and you thought, okay, defense makes a style,

(48:29):
we got a chance there. So I think the identity
that the offense is creating is creating a lot of hope.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
Offensively, Yeah, that's how it feels, right, now is like
that you feel like there are chances to win more games,
to be in games, and that's honestly for a team
that went to in seventeen last year started zero to two,
kind of all you can ask in this progression right now.
With Andy Dalton getting remaking his third start next week
at Chicago again the final thirty four to twenty four
and as the Panthers lose to Cincinnati, Kristen, Thanks, your

(48:56):
name is even on.

Speaker 11 (48:57):
