Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's happened everybody?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Happy Wednesday to you wherever you are listening to Texans
All Access. John Harrison, Mark vander Meer with you this evening.
Hopefully you're doing well. We've got plenty for you on
the show. We'll have a little Texans Audio juke box
a little later. Kamori last, Jalen Peatrie, and Christian Kirk
went to the podium on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Yeah, the one.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
OTA day this week, so we'll have a little bit
from them. I know a lot of people have talked
about Kamari. A lot of people have asked me after
the first OTA. You asked me Mark about Kamara. I said, yeah,
he's he's all that. I mean, he's everything that we
wanted him to be and then some and making plays
in OTAs and he's one of the more fun guys
(00:44):
on this team. So it was good to hear from Kamar.
So we'll have a little Textans audio jukebox little later
in the show. But Mark, I stumbled upon this. And
when I say stumbled, I mean I was just going
through Twitter or x or whatever you call it, and
our friends pff, our friends there they are again. Now
if you saw me say that in studio. You would
(01:07):
see my air quotes around friends, because I've always had
this kind of hate hate less relationship with PFS. No,
I just I just think I think I think some
of the way that they go about things, in the
way that they look at things, or.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Just different than the way that look at things.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
But you know, whatever, to each their own, especially when
you try and quantify every single play an NFL player
or college player makes and you don't know exactly what
that guy's responsibility wasn't that play? And I know they
have arguments to that, and I think you have to
know what the responsibilities are to be able to know
what kind of grade you're supposed to give a guy.
(01:46):
Either way, that's my thing with PFF whatever, But I
do think it's been a really good resource, especially for fans,
especially when players are signed to your team and you're like, oh, hey,
I wasn't really watching that team last year. I don't
really know what that guy did or how good he is.
What did PFF have to say? You can go look
at some of the numbers and say, oh, okay, well,
(02:08):
PFF it is pretty great.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
On doesn't mean everything, it doesn't mean nothing. I'll tell
you this.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
They spend more time watching tape than your average writer,
that is true, who's commenting on a whole bunch of
things that maybe he shouldn't. Yeah, because PFF does look
at this stuff stuff in depth, which is nice, but
it's just another component in evaluating things.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Right. So, yesterday I.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Was a little peeved when they put out their top
thirty two cornerbacks and our guy Staying was number five,
And I retweeted that and just said, nope, hashtag Sting
eight five because he's not number five. Now, if you
want to argue to me, the Patrick Hutan defense player
of the year, and look, I understand it's an arbitrary
(02:52):
defense player.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I get it. There's nobody in this league that is taking.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Sauce Gardner what he did last year over Patrick Sirtander.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Extingly, I don't know, not a chance there's.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Anybody in the league taking Sauce over any of the
four behind him. He was the number one guy, right,
Number one was Sauce, and then two, three, four, five, It.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Was was Certan, Three was Trent McDuffie. Four was Jalen Johnson.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, so I think all those guys are going ahead
of Gardner. Maybe not Johnson, but I do believe, yeah
that I I think I'm right on this one.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Most importantly, I think Sting.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Sting is in the top two, and he's probably not two,
but he's got to prove it.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
I think Sting is still.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
In some people's minds, people that haven't paid attention to
the Texans. He's still the well, he's always injured guy.
I think that's that's what a lot of people's still.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
First impressions do mean something, and that's that's a first
impression a lot of people had on.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Him, and then that they've not gotten past that, okay,
And I think there might be some Texas.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Fans that may still not have guy. He's always hurt.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Look, he was hurt the first part of Time twenty
twenty two, part of twenty twenty three, and he has
moved beyond that. So hopefully we've got beyond that. And
it was it was really interesting to watch him yesterday.
I don't know how I brought this up. They were
working on a situational drill and it's just I've talked
about this, just the way that he absorbs the game
(04:18):
and sees the game like he took me through when
I had a chance to interview him after you signed
a contract. I talked to him about the Tyreek interception,
the first Tyreek interception, the one down in the south
end on fourth down where he's locked up Tyreek and
made a play. And it was interesting because he took
me through what Tyreek had done three plays prior and realized,
(04:38):
wait a second, that's not usually what Tyreek does, and
so kind he kind of clocked that and then took
that further into the play where he made the interception
and realized, Okay, I know what he's trying to do
based on what he did before.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
He's not trying to do that.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
And so Sting in practice on Tuesday, they're working a
situational drill and so they are ten seconds left.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
It's ten tenut right before the half. You've got no timeouts.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Now it's it's not the most difficult logic in the world,
but where does the team have to throw the ball
at that point?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
They have to throw the ball to the sidelines.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yeah, Sting figured it out as soon as as soon
as Davis dropped to throw, he broke for the sidelines
and Davis saw it and luckily threw it ten feet
over over both Sting and I think it was Christian
Kirk He's throwing to and it was like, that's what
you want really good players to do. You want them
to think through situations too, and it was clear Sting
(05:34):
was doing that. So that said Sting is number five
on their list, and they'll just prove that he has
to be number one.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Well.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
I found this one kind of along the same timeline,
and I thought this probably, as you pointed out, probably
need a little bit deeper dive because there's a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
There's a lot going on here.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
PFF has ranked strengths, weaknesses, and X factors for every
starting line up up in the NFL, and they have
ranked the roster or the starting lineups for every NFL team.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Oh, NFL team one, let's go.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Based on roster. Okay, now I think this is pretty easy. Well,
what roster do you think PFF has at number one?
It's not the Texans, and it's not a Texans opponent
this year.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Philly, Yes, Philly.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Biggest strength defense, biggest weakness passing game. All right, Uh,
their X factor is Nolan Smith. Now he's coming off
with surgery. I can't remember what he had. He had,
he had a bang up parade. I don't know if
he remembered it, but then he had surgery a day after,
so he's still rehabbing from that.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Uh. Their biggest Ricky to watch was John Campbell. Okay.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Second question, where do you think they put the Texans roster.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Based on ross starting lineup? Rostereenth? Oh?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Man, you are way off higher than that, I hope
in a good way.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Oh good, you're yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
In fact, see I went negative because I felt like
you were going in this election.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I was.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I was conde lean in there, kind of kind of
deeky a little bit. The thirteenth, we're gonna go eighth.
You're close. Seven, okay, seven seven, which I thought was
sounds fair. Huh okay. Roster ranking, roster ranking. Now, a
couple of things. Number one, see if you agree with
these biggest strength in twenty twenty four, what would you
(07:38):
say it was?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Now? This is from twenty twenty four. Defense? Pass defense? Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Between their pass rushing secondary, the Texas field are one
of the best pass defenses in the NFL. They were
one of three teams to place in the top ten
in both team PFF pass rush Grade and PFF coverage Grade.
The others were Super Bowl fifty nine combatants.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Eagles and Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Houston is one of the league's best edge perrings and
will Anston junior ninth under.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
The not eighth or ninth on the.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Edge rusher and Daniel Hunter, who was twelve to go
along with a young, impressive cornerback Duro Derrek Stingley junior
number five amongst corners, Kamaria Lasser number thirty one, which
we pointed out last night. Kamari's listed at number thirty
one even though he was top fifteen in their advance
grading and number.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
One in completion percentage against.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
That's amazing, yet thirty one because they don't want to
put a rookie up there.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, it's exactly right, even though their own.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Numbers be lie this. Yeah, that's exactly right. Our numbers
are telling us this, and we live on our numbers.
But no, we're gonna make him thirty one.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Biggest weakness in twenty twenty four pass blocking offensive line
C J. Stroud experienced a slight regression from his incredible
rookie season, most of which can be attributed to the
offensive line's failures in Texas dealt the league's eighth lowest
graded offensive line last year, making matters worse.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Team traded. Lend me tell the Commanders this offseason.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Okay, X factor for twenty twenty five for the Texans,
the X factor is going to think about what you
just answered.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
With the pass blocking and the offensive line. Yeah, it's
the offensive line. So it's a player. It's a player.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
They use one player instead of like a unit.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
They have one player. One player is going to be
the X factor at C. J. Stroud. It is tackle
Cam Robinson.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
So to them, X factor means we don't know what
this variable is going to think, so too to this
team not sure. When people talk about X factors, usually
to me, that means this is the difference maker. Yeah,
this is the chemical that's going to change the entire
potion and make it shine.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I don't look at X factor. I look at variable.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
The way they're describing it, variable is what you want
to put on Camp Robinson because you don't know what
that's going to mean to this football team. So you
see it in the flesh, all right. So anyway, whatever
that's their X fact.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Their X factor is Cam Robinson.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
What do they say about him? Robinson, whom Houston signed
free agency. Will a tempt phill theermy Tunsel's shoes. He's
been consistently Belowvidge's career. Phil and a great is the
top forty tackle during any of his eight seasons. If
he can't adequately protect c. J. Stroud's blind blindside second
round pick, ariante ursery could be given a shot. So
(10:24):
they when they list the starters, they have Cam Robbins.
Let me get that in a second, because.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
When you say X factor, isn't there a TV show
X factor like American Idol or whatever it was used
to be, where this person has the X factor. Yeah,
it's hard to describe. Madonna has the X factor. She's
not that good looking. She's not a great dancer, she's
not a great singer. The songs are catchy, but they're
not amazing masterpieces. Yet you put it all together and
(10:48):
the hole is greater than the some of the parts,
and that's the X factor.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Anyway, I think they're looking at X factor as this
is the way I think they're looking at it. X
factor being someone who is not one of the big stars,
but needs to perform well for a particular unit or
whatever it might be, to perform at a high level,
(11:14):
like for the Eagles, it was Nolan Smith. For the
Baltimore Ravens, it's Andrew voorhe's at guard because they've lost
a few offensive linments before he's comes back.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
For the Lions, the X factor is Aiden Hutchinson.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
So so they're kind of say, yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
The re addition of Aiden Hutchinson means this to the
right and lost its coordinator by the way, and they've
got some things to deal with.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
They do have things to do with.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
But to them, to PFF, this further proves how analytical
they are. Yet you're right about the last that their
thirty one ranking, it doesn't make any sense according to
their own numbers. They don't look at things like chemistry. Yeah,
they don't have a chemistry number in there because that's
hard to quantify. It's a qualifying thing. And that's where
they fall short.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Because well, to.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Make matters worse, they traded Laramie tunsl Well why did
they trade Laramie Tunsil?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Right, riddle me this, PF.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Well, that's obviously what happens when you have a quantitative
basis for anything, and that's what happens. Well, well that's
say this, Well, and I'm not just talking about Laramy.
I'm just talking about just life in general basketball.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
What that guy's a twenty point a game.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Scorer, Yeah, okay, but doesn't play defense, ball gets sticky
in his hands.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
What is he in the last two minutes of a game?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
How clutches he? How good is he in game seven?
I feel like I'm talking about James Harden. Maybe i am,
but that's but those are things that well, we can't
and that's what that's why it bothers me. Abou Kamari Laster,
like PFF, sometimes relies solely on their numbers. The numbers
say this, but then they do a list like that,
and they're like, well the numbers say this, but.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
You know, we really don't believe in them.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
What like, the numbers are what they are, Well, like,
are you gonna argue with them or not?
Speaker 1 (12:56):
And so do they say about the Texans so X fact.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
There was Cam Robinson rookie to watch, I would say
it's someone obvious.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
They probably say Higgins because he's right there.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
That's very good. You know, he's a top pick.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
I think, look all the rookies or rookies to watch stuff,
but certainly Higgens. You know, Higgins by the way. We
haven't talked. So Noel was resting up on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Or whatever something. Yeah, we didn't se him. Yeah we
didnt seehim. We didn't se him practice Tuesday for whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Don't know what that means. No information, no offseason surgery,
we don't know. But early on Noel very noticeable.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Apparently it's going to embrace this thing and adapt very
well to the NFL.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
It just looks that way in OTAs. But we could
be wrong. I don't know. That's all we have to
go on.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Right, Yes, o Ta performed, but Higgins from practice to
practice seeing it. I am seeing it and it looks good. Yeah,
it looks very interesting. Yep, so let's just keep it.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
I'm with you on that. Here's what they said.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Texas drafted two iviystay receivers, Jadon Higgins and Jalen Noel,
and we'll highlight the former here. Higgins led all power
for receivers with a ninety point five PFF receiving grades
past season.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
He's great size at six four two fifteen.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
If he can hit the ground running as a rookie,
he can seize John Metchie. The third job is the
starting outside receiver opposite Nico Collins.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Okay, I've got a lot of thoughts on what I'm
about to say.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Say, a lot of thoughts of what I'm about to
see insight. Then they put the projected twenty twenty five
starting lineup. Okay, ooh, I want to hear remember this
last sentence. If he can hit the ground running as
a rookie, he can seize John Metchie the third job
as the starting outside receiver opposite Nico Collins. Now, what
(14:53):
do they watch the Texans? I mean Mechi has played
I don't want to say one hundred percent on the inside,
but he has played in the slot the majure lot.
In fact, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna look at something
as I.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Have that information in their database exactly exactly. That's that's
what makes no sense to what they do. Isn't this
what you guys do here?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Right? That's success?
Speaker 3 (15:17):
He runs excess number of routes from the slot position,
from inside the numbers, or wherever you want to describe
it as.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Now, I know there are times where a guy can
end up being in a different spot.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
I wonder if I.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Can, let's see, I don't know if I'll be able
to do this. I don't know if I uh passing
snaps running snaps?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Oh, here we go.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
By position, I would tend to disagree with this, but
either way, last year John had four hundred fifty eight snaps.
I think my numbers are right if I'm matting upright.
For Yeah, four or fifty eight snaps. Two and fifty
four were from the slot.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Okay, But he's the starting outside receiver opposite Nico Collins.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Recording and whyde is two two?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
So when they went through and they did so, he
had fifty two more slot snaps than he did outside snaps.
But he has the starting outside job according to PFF.
So the offense and they and they put twelve guys
two four, six, eight, ten twelve. They put twelve guys
because as starting running backs.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Plural, they have Joe Mixon and Damian Pierce. What he marks,
they don't have Damian Piers.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
They just put what he marks because we drafted what
he marks in the fourth round. That means he's starting, yeah,
or one of the two starters according to the starters.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Yeah, wide receivers weird. They have Nico Collins, Christian Kirk,
John Metchi. They just moved Mechi up on the depth chart.
That's all they really did. Tight end Old Schultz and
the offensive line left tackle Cam Robinson, left guard Titus Howard,
senator Jared Patterson, right guard Juice Scrugs, right tackle Blake Fisher.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
So they haven't been out at OTAs. You're telling me
that they have not been watching ots, which is fine.
I don't expect them to.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
They're two weeks in the OTA's and they're putting on
this article though, it's like, what.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Are we doing?
Speaker 3 (17:15):
You could read Texans coverage. You gonna read Jonathan Alexander
and djb enemy and figure out that, you know what,
they're not really working with that lineup the way they
put it in writing that much, if at all. So
I get doing this four weeks ago and coming up
with that lineup Blake Fisher, right tackle, that's what they had. Yeah,
(17:37):
and but Scruggs is the big one here at right guard.
I get coming up with that four weeks ago. Okay, fine,
starting point.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, four weeks ago, but articles posted two days ago
after like.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Two weeks OTAs read your coverage of your team.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
What are we doing?
Speaker 3 (17:51):
I mean, that's how you get information this time of year,
and it's not exactly like secret digging and uncovering classified information.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
This is out there and win. This is media coverage.
They've been talking about the lineups all two weeks in, right,
they have not lined up that.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
All we have is two weeks of OTAs that we've seen.
It feels like we've been in this for a while
and they've got many camp next week.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
But then it's over and we've been out on don't homots.
We've seen two, three, whatever it might four, four, You
and I have seen four. They have not lined up
in that configuration one time. No, they haven't not once. Yeah,
not one time.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
In that configuration.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I don't think they've done that with juice there at
that point, then they have the start defense.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Okay, let's let's hear it.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
So on the edge, Well, i'll say it for a second.
Inside Tim Settle fully fought a CASSI.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Do they know that Rankins has been resigned to this team?
Are they aware of this? I'm not saying. I'm not
saying that Settle might not start or whatever.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I don't know. I mean maybe it does start.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Yeah, anyway, to get hung up on the tackles and
and we just see them shuffling them in and out.
I mean, it's a hockey line change every couple of
snaps on that defensive line as far as the tackles go,
and the.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Ends too, by the way, So they have foleis grade
from last year thirty five point six.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
That's a low grade for them.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
That's horrible to the scale of one hundred, right, yeah,
thirty five?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
What the hell? What things looked like when he was
not in the lineup? Good lord, I'm I'm like doing yawless.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
But when he was out, we were thinking, oh man,
we really miss him because he was she gets so thin,
got so thin without.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yeah, they gave him a thirty three point three thirty
three point nine run grade.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Like they don't like guys wings, they don't like people
from burrows other than Manhattan.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
I don't know what. He's one hundred and.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Sixteenth on the into your defensive list, Like what like,
are you huh?
Speaker 1 (20:07):
That doesn't make any sense?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Okay that that I mean either way, But they've got
him in the starters and they because they got the
grades next to each guys they go through all right, Edge,
Will Anderson Junior, Danio Hunter, Darryl Taylor.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Wait what, yeah, exactly did they look at the roster
what I thought you would.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
And look, I almost say this, I think Darryl Taylor
is going to factor in for this team.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Okay, good, I think he's going to factor.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
In guy on the team who scored two touchdowns at
defensive end that they don't mention Derek Way, they don't
mention nic.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
They don't mention Nico Autry at all.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
All right, but they mentioned Taylor because he's a new addition,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
But then they couldn't mention any new aditions over on all.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Like this is where they come off looking really bad. Exactly.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
I bet with the top four or fivesters in the league,
they spent a lot of time.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
I have ins.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
But Mark, it's not as if we're talking about number
thirty or three one. Like if if you would have
done this in twenty twenty two, we could have done
this exercise and gone wow, I don't know. I mean,
this is the number seven team as they've rated it,
and they know nothing about it.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
I remember fighting to get higher than twenty eighth in
the power rankings.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Yeah okay, and we got to twenty seven. We were
like throwing a party.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Yeah, It's like, well, I don't think we have an
argument about twenty six, but we're certainly better than twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
So there's that. The rest of it.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
There's only one thing that stands out the rest of
because the rest of it that I think they got right.
Henry Toto is he's linebacker. Then they got CJ. Gardner, Johnson,
Calen Block at safety, Stingley Lasser a corner.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
They have Jalen Petrie list as a corner, but they
have them as the nickel because that's how I know.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
But they haven't listened to a corner, so.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
They and I don't know whether the new CBA will
will will attempt to do this whenever the new CBA
comes into effect. But like for the offensive line, there's
one franchise tag number one right one. So what you
would give to a left tackle as a franchise tag number,
you'd have to give to a center as a franchise
(22:19):
tag guard like.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
The or guard the same amount of money. Crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
It's kind of one of the Ravens didn't give the
fifth year to Tyler Linnerbaum. We're like, look, we're gonna
get a deal done, and we'd love this guy. He's great,
but we can't. We can't give him that number.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
I think the union wants it that way though he
wants to tag that way. Oh yeah, they just don't
want because I remember good point. You know, certain guys
if they move from tackle to guard, they want to
get paid like a tackle.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Yeah, especially a left tackle.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Right, But if you get franchised at the left tackle
right in your guard, you're happy about that if you're
franch Well, that's.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
What happened to Trey Smith. Tray Smith got no, it
was one other, but Tray Smith got franchised at guard.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
For the Chiefs. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
I mean you don't want to get franchise, don't get
me wrong about this, listeners, I know you don't want
to get franchise.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
You'd rather have to make contract.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
But if that tag will be applied, you'd rather have
it applied at that salary.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
If you're a center or guard. Yes, so a.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Nickel corner is not going to make as much as
an outside corner.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Correct, But are you listed at corner? It's it's a
mood point because this contract, right, but it would he
rather be listed at corner?
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yeah? Yeah, probably much corner number. I would imagine.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Chester Pitts guard tackle will be paid clown guard or
a tackle clowny the number.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Clowney clowning was they had they had decided was it's
a linebacker defense man. Now the Texans made it right,
like they they bridged the difference or we're going to
between the difference between defensive and outside linebackers. So it
got to be kind of odd. But I saw when
I saw CB. I'm so used to seeing either Nby
or the five cent sign next to Jalen's peat was
which is what I put or s yeah or even
(23:55):
that way, So when I see CB, I'm like, what
I mean, I did a com coleet doubletons.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
This is why in the era of Cully and Lovey too,
or maybe just Cully, when everybody was listed as a dB, dB,
just dB. In some ways that made sense because what
is pre Is he a safety?
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Is he a nickel?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
What is he?
Speaker 1 (24:15):
He's a dB? There's yeah, there's some guy like Petree
falls into that category. Linebacker too. I mean he's all
of that. Yeah exactly, he plays right, He's one where
you could put dB next to his name.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I go, yeah, okay, yeah, even like Jaylen Smith to
the rookie, I kind of do the same thing, like, yeah,
you can put dB next to his name because he
could play a nickel. He could probably play a little
bit outside, like okay, dB, seems that would that would fit.
I think I think Jalen has really become He's he's
nickel like that's but underlying what nickel represents part linebacker,
(24:50):
like you said, part linebacker, part safety, part corner, kind
of all that. Yeah, you just put dB and it
kind of covers it, you know, So I get that.
So Texans with the number seven best roster in the NFL.
Now I gave you number one, or you figured out
number one. How many teams will the Texans face that
(25:12):
have a stronger starting lineup.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Roster according to pff or in the PFFK, I'm gonna
go one, two, I'm gonna go Chiefs, Ravens.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'll did they put the Bills ahead of the Texans.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
They'll go in order, Chiefs number four, Okay, okay, So
yes we're the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
They're right there. They're number one.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Two.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Okay, they're too.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
They're always number two. They are always one, two or
three and have not gotten to but one AFC championship game.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Wow, how about that? Okay, They've got.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
So Eagles one, Ravens two, number three. We will play,
but not in the regular season. Oh really, so they're
gonna go with Detroit. Detroit's right, Detroit at number three.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
I'd say that's fair. Yeah, Chiefs are at four.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Texas do not. Oh, the Texas play five and six.
So it's Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Yes, is five?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Six is a little I don't know. I couldn't get
there with six, to be honest. Buccaneers Nope, opener.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Really, So the Rams are ahead of the Texans in
total roster. Well, you know, they drafted those rookies and
they're playing. They're balling out on defense.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
They added Devonte Adams. Although Avante wasn't great, he still
was good in twenty twenty four. And then you've got
all those, like you said, the rookies from last year,
Jared Verse, who was defensive player, Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Poona Ford they signed, who was great with the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
He's a they love him at PFF his grades eighty five, like,
they absolutely love him.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
But then you look at the secondary and I'm like,
all we got to do is get the ball off.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
We just have to get the ball. All they've got
that pass rush with those guys, but they've got the past.
Sharon Donald, no problem apparently. Yeah, who's eighth.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
The one behind us is another team we will face,
but not in the regular season. So that's Minnesota. Minnesota. Yeah, Vikings,
Caroline Vikings at eight.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Round number nine play a little bit of a surprise,
a playoff team last year, a team.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
The Texans will play here for the second time in
three years. Denver. Denver Broncos are at number nine.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Uh, biggest train, twenty four in the defense, biggest weakness
offensive weaponry. They added Evan Ingram at tight end. That's
gonna I think it's gonna be good for them and
they can watch R. J.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Harvey. Number ten is a team you just mentioned, the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
So so out of the top ten, we play Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, Rams,
Buck Bucks, Broncos, Bucks, so six, sixth, and then we're seven.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
So through those teams, you know, play god for the
AFC South. Yeah. Now other teams in the division, Jaguar,
where are they? What do you think?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
I bet they're not as low as you think. I'm
gonna say nineteenth twenty five. Okay, I'm off.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I'm biggest strengthened twenty four and improved supporting cast for
Trevor Lawrence. Biggest weakness one of the NFL's worst defenses
X Factor Draymond Walker rookery to watch du Oh my god,
did you see what Travis Hunter did in that video? No,
everybody's going crazy about it.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
What do you do?
Speaker 2 (28:25):
They They had him at dB in practice and you
just look it up during a break. I'll look it
up for it.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I can't believe I missed this. It is absolute, like
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
I saw somebody mention it and I didn't see it.
I meant to go back and look. It's pretty sick.
I mean, like I have to be. It's it's pretty s.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Are you're falling in love with Travis Hunter?
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (28:43):
You know? I love Travis Hunter.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
And you know if I even said this to Sean
Pendergass back during the year, was texting him, like back
in October November, and he was asking me where would
you play Travis Hunter? And he said, would you play
offensive defense? I just said yes, I played him at both.
I was like, man, I give up my draft. I'd
go up and get him. We put him at one
of our wide receiver spots and put him in one
of our corner spots and we locked people the hell
(29:06):
up and we start going downfield again like holy cow.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
But now he's a Jaguars. You will use him up,
you know, no, I know, yeah, he will. He will
outlast past week eleven.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
He's either gonna be an electric vehicle and continue to
last and recharge, or he's gonna be a you go,
So what did the Jaguars trade for?
Speaker 1 (29:25):
We'll find out. Titans, where do you think they are?
They're way down? I mean, come on, they're like thirty one.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Bingo, good job, big Colts, biggest strength, run defense, biggest
we just throwing football, Dan Moore's X factor, rooky to
watch Cam wore the okay Colts.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Where are you putting the Colts? Because this one gets
interesting to me. Maybe they'll take my nineteenth.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
You're close, Oh man, you're close. So week at.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Quarterback, but Jonathan Taylor is still there is They've got
some receivers. There's still something there on the offensive line. Okay, defense,
I mean each would you say eight nineteen? Yeah, you're close?
Speaker 1 (30:03):
What are they twenty? Okay, twenty?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
So you'll play six games against the twenty twenty fifth
and thirty first best starting lineups as seen by PFF.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
And again these are just numbers. Whatever.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
I'm going to say this the AFC South teams and
you and I will spend a lot more time on
this in the coming weeks. You have to look at
the positives in that you better be ready for them
right when you evaluate these teams. You can't be surprised
when they do good things, because this is the NFL.
Teams bounce back, they draft well, things change Travis Hunter
(30:38):
and Jacksonville example, maybe cam Ward makes some noise in Tennessee.
Maybe Indy finds a way to exhuom whatever game is
left of Daniel Jones from two years ago when he
went to the playoffs and beat the Vikings at their place.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
So that's all possible. So you got to be ready
for that.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
You definitely have to be Colt's biggest strength O line
biggest weakness. Know that the X factor for twenty twenty five.
See I don't see this as X factor. I think
this is the factor for twenty twenty five is Anthony Richardson.
Here's what PFF says. It's truly now or never for
Richardson in Indianapolis. He has a strong offensive line in
(31:16):
front of him, a good running back good i'mbout great
running back in Jonathan Taylor, and one of the better
receiver corps in football. If he can't become more accurate
in year three, he could quickly be replaced by highly
paid free AGENC signing Daniel Jones.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
First of all, Daniel Jones makes thirteen million a year.
That is peanuts.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
That is not highly paid. I don't I would argue
with that. He's I don't like, he's not an X
factor to me, like he is the factor. But I
guess in the way they've structured this article, you have
to you have to go with it. They label Anthony
Richardson as the starter. They say he's the starter, and
that's that's what they're going with. But one of the
(31:54):
things they talk about in twenty four was their offensive line.
They replaced the two starters in the offensive line to.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Do a whole show on the Colts because now that
Jim R.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Say has passed and we always thought he got involved,
he was getting all this praise for not getting involved.
Who the hell hired Jeff's Saturday? Did they forget about that?
That was just two years ago? Exactly did Gallard hire
Jeff's Saturday to freaking coach the team?
Speaker 1 (32:18):
No, he got involved. Are you kidding?
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
He doesn't get involved. He gets involved. Absolutely got involved.
There's no there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
All right, the guy that's getting involved with the Texans,
and he thought a very highly around the league, thought
a very highly around Houston. Mamori Laster, alongside Jalen Petrie
and Christian Kirk went to the Mike Web Little Texans
Audio jukebox from Kamari, Jalen and Christian. Next right here
at Texans All Access. All right, here we go Wednesday
night edition of Texans All Acts. I appreciate you being
with me. Welcome back to the show. We had Mark
(32:48):
and I in the first segment talking about this roster
for the Texans rang number seven by pff uh, pretty
good number.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
I like it. It's not perfect, but I like it.
I like where it is.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Gotta play a number of teams in front, and that's
gonna be tough. Rams Broncos are two spots behind the Texans.
Ravens don't to play Eagles, but if you do play
the Eagles at twenty twenty five, this season will be
a huge success because that means we will play them
in the super Bowl. Now, one of the guys that's
going to be instrumental in that is Kamari lasted corner
(33:25):
for your Houston Texans, A damn good one at that,
and he was asked yesterday how good is this secondary.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Here's what he had to say.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
I feel like with us, the sky could be the limit.
To be honest, I feel like, you know what the
success we had last year and the work that we
put in during the off season, and how we're grinding
right now and just trying to build chemistry and just
work on our technique and just play as one and
play fast and places, this is what I feel like
we can be very successful this year.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I like how he answered at the beginning, M Yeah,
I think the Skuy's limit. He's man, I love this dude.
I absolutely see what other Texans wanted to have him
here in the fold. He is fantastic on a number
of different levels. Now heading into year two, kn'ts rest
on your laurels. You gotta take that next step. So
Kamara was asked, what are you working on this year
(34:15):
to get ready for your two?
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (34:16):
To be honest, we be here all day if I
wanted to tell you every single thing that I'm trying
to work on. But it's just to be honest, I
just want to become a better player, like just inside
and out from understanding what's going on pre snap, understanding
office is better, understanding where my help is better, just
understanding rock recognition, or just doing the little things that
can make me more successful watching the other players play.
(34:36):
It's a lot of things that I really want to
work on. I can't tell you everything because I've been
here all day with you.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, Camar couldn't handle that one a little bit easier
and just said everything, because that I think is essentially
what he's saying is everything.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
But you could see as the year we're on. Last year,
you could just see his.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Smarts coming into play, Understanding rock concepts, what teams were
trying to do, hoither we're trying to set him up,
receiver releases, all that kind of stuff. I mean, he
was just fat last year, and hopefully there is more
to that now. He's gonna get honestly picked on. Teams
gotta have to pick their poison and pick it us
intelligently because the guy on the other side is Derek Stingley.
Here's Kamari talking about his relationship with staying in the
(35:14):
two of them on the field.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Yeah, I feel like from the moment I got drafted,
sting was actually the first person to hit me, Like
I got drafted. Two minutes later he takes me and
just from the moment that we met, you know, we
kind of instantly clicked. I kind of understood him, he
understood me, and we just talk a lot. Like Stain
doesn't talk to a lot of people, and he's not
like a big talker, but like we talk a lot,
a lot about football, but not even just football, Like
we just we got really close.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Man. I love hearing that, And that's the vibe on
this team.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Man.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Close. Guys are very close. They hang a lot together.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
I mean you can't walk down the hallway without seeing
Kamari and Kaylen together. Now you're throwing Jalen Smith who
was boys with Kaylen back at USC Derek who's Boys. Well,
I mean that's a really tight secondary back there, and
I'd love to see the connection that they have back
there together. It's really really nice. Setting the tone huge
really important for this defense. Kamari sets it with physicality,
(36:02):
but here's him talking about doing that in year two,
setting the tone for this defense. Man.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
It's like full circle because it feels like just yesterday me,
CB School, Beefish, Kade and all the other guys were
just coming in and we're the new young pups with
our eyes open, just trying to figure out I left
hand from my right foot. And now just seeing like
some of the younger guys coming in and you know,
they're just they're picking up so fast, and just me
being able to just kind of give him a little
bit of what Stayn gave me last year. Just game wise,
(36:29):
it just means a lot, because if I could pull
somebody along, I feel like I'm doing my job.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yeah, when you hear him talk, it's sometimes you gotta
shake yourself. But he's just a second year guy. He's
only played one year in this league. Man, what is
he going to be?
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Man?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
He is, He's fun and he's fun to listen to
as well. Here he is talking about the addition of CJ.
Gardner Johnson to this secondary.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
Well, I don't like Florida, but CJ. I like the
fact that he's just he's himself. He's one hell of
a ball player. Like you know, he really understands the game.
He's played for a long time, and he comes with
his his own energy. He comes with he just comes
with his own passion and it affects the players around him.
Like you can see, like just watching this film, how
his energy and how he talks and how he just
plays a game like it affects people around him, whether
it's on the opposite side of the ball, whether it's
on his side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Oh, he had to set the tone on that one. Oh,
I don't like Florida. I think Ben at Georgia bulldog man.
I'm telling you that it is one hell of a rivalry.
I've been to that game in Jacksonville many many times
and it is one hell of a war. So I
understand where he's coming from with that Florida Georgia hate.
That is faux show. Okay, stuck, Christian kirk Aggie, I
(37:34):
know a lot of you out there like that. This
I heard at some point I can't remember which of
the shows I was listening to on for Ratio six ten,
but he was asked about this new Nick Cayley slash
Texans offense and how he sees it and how he
feels about it, what he likes about it.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Nick is all ball, very intelligent, very smart, does a
great job communicating to us, you know, what the expectations are,
route detail, you know, motions, formations, whatever the case may be.
He's done a great job kind of laying that out
for us, and it's been I guess primarily pretty easy,
you know, just being able to learn it the way
he's been able to install it. You know, Ben McDaniels
(38:14):
in our room has done a great job teaching us
just all the things from a football like Q aspect
that you need.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
To know as a receiver.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
And this offense is dynamic, a lot of motions, a
lot of pre snap adjustments for the defense to have
to you know, deal with. So I think you'll see
a lot of guys in different places.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
To be able to make place.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, there's a consistent theme that I've noticed and I
used to get really frustrated with this last year, so
I kind of noticed it early this year. There is
a sense of urgency break in a huddle, Like dudes
are getting out of the huddle, getting to their spots
so they can go in motion, get to a shift,
(38:51):
whatever the trade, whatever that might be. But there is
a higher sense of urgency and a bunch more motion,
which I think ends up being good for a young offense.
You just catch a defense, just one defender with bad eyes,
and he gets caught on that motion and you're doing
something opposite where he's going. I mean, it plays well
for you, especially if you can kind of start it
(39:14):
early in a quarterbacks career. Like Aaron Rodgers was talked about.
He didn't like a lot of motion, Like when mattin
Ford took over in Green Bay, he didn't like all
the motion because he wanted to know exactly where everybody
was out on the field, So he didn't like that.
But hopefully you can get CJ working in the offense
early enough that he's used to it so he kind
of can anticipate, all right, we got motion on this,
how they gonna rotate? What is safety's gonna do one down,
(39:37):
one up, or linebacker's gonna do. How's everybody adjusting and
adapting to this motion. I think that's going to end
up being a good thing for the Texans. Now, it's
a good thing. Christian Kirk is in Houston with the Texans.
What are his thoughts about.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Being here in Houston?
Speaker 4 (39:50):
The transition has been nothing short of amazing. Everybody in
the organization has been welcoming from day one, players, coaches,
staff included, and like mentioned playing at Texas A and M.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
It's it's good to be back.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
It's been a long time since I've been back in
the state of Texas, and you know, even down the
street from from A and M. So definitely looking back,
looking forward to getting back over there. But it's been
great and now that we're in OTAs and getting on
the field, you know, working out the system, laying the foundation.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Just been really happy from day one.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
I'm gonna say something that I don't know, you hear it,
and you know, just take it for what it is.
I've always felt like Christian Kirk should have.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Been a Texan. I don't know why. Maybe it's going
A and M.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
I don't know, but I just felt like Christian Kirk
should have always been a Texan.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
It just felt like a really good fit.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
And for everything that he did when he was coming
out out of A and M, just being able to
play the slots, just toughness, smarts, I just always felt
like it would have been a good fit in Houston.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
Didn't turn out that way. He goes Arizona and he
goes to Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
But now he's in the right spot where it needs
to be, and he's gonna make plays for this offense
no doubt.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Yesterday at OTAs, he was all over the place.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I mean he made catches in the short, short, media, intermediate,
intermediate areas. He was all over the place and did
a really nice job. I just love the fit, completely,
love the fit of Christian Kirk.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Here in Houston.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Now he plays alongside or will play alongside, one of
the best in the league.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
That's Nico Collins.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Here's Christian Kirk talking about his six four two d
and fifteen pounds stud teammate Nico Collins.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
Yeah, I mean the production makes sense just with who
he is as a person. Seeing him on the field,
somebody who's that big, that fast, that strong, has great hands,
you know. Like I said, it makes sense why he's
been a top five receiver in the past couple of years.
I was telling somebody kind of reminds me of a
former team I played with Aj Green of just how big, strong,
and explosive. They are a lot of the same, like
(41:47):
intangibles and whatnot, but just a great person. You know
he wants to get better every single day. The fact
that he's still asking questions and learning, I think says
a lot about who he is. So just really excited
to work with him going forward.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
It's on watching those two out in the field.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
I'll be honest, and I think it's gonna be even
more fun once CJ gets back throwing again and getting
on the field and these guys are able to make
music together.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
I think it's going to be really, really fun.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Speaking of c J Stroud, he's what Christian Kirk had
to say about his quarterback.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
C stu s just has been awesome. You could just
tell by his presidence in the locker room. Uh, me
getting to know him, you know, in the facility and
outside the facility, being able to spend some time with him.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
Super humble and Uh He's had success obviously over the
past couple of years. It's been fun to watch obviously
playing against him, you know, being able to see that.
But you know, even though he's not involved, you still
see him listening to the calls, you know, going through
certain things. If he sees a guy make a mistake
or feels like they could do it better, he's going
up to him coaching. That's big for you know, quarterback
(42:49):
going into his third season. That's stuff that you see
from guys that have been in the league even longer.
So that's really cool to see. And I know, come
when it's time for us to start getting rolling that,
you know he's gonna up in there and you know,
just keep elevating us as an offense.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Elevate the offense, take it to a different level. CJ
and Christian are able to do that. There's no telling
where this team can be. I mean, it was ten
and seven last year with a very similar like schedule
this year, and they really struggled offensively to do the
things that they consistently wanted to do.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
Do those things consistently this year.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
So telling what we could be looking at in January
and hopefully on into February.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Okay, let's go round the NFL.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
What's happening even in Jacksonville where a viral star may
have been born. That's next the Texans All Access We
go on final SIGM this Wednesday, Nation of Texans All
Access from the Texans Radio studio. I'm John Harris, Football
and All the sideline reporter for your Houston Texans tomorrow night,
while the General with me right here on on Sports
(44:00):
Radio six y ten Texas All Access. I'm sure the
General has plenty to say about everything's happened at OTAs,
everything that's going on in the NFL, including the viral
sensation himself, Travis Hunter down at Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Now, we talked about this a little bit about Travis
last week.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
I think Jaguars made decision Tuesday, your receiver, all day receiver. Wednesday,
you're a defensive back, all day defensive back, so practice
earlier this week he was at defensive back and he
made an interception that was caught on video and has
caught fire throughout the league, fire throughout the league. How
(44:47):
has it impacted those people in Jacksonville? Well, I just
started I started seeing today some things that on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
I'm like, man, good grief.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
I was just like shaking my head, like come on man,
he made an interception, and it's just people are like
thirty third team Travis Hunter with a tip interception, people
reacting unreal handsibly rich. Yeah, Bro is a unicorn. I
mean that's what the Jaguars put out. Bro is a unicorn.
I mean it's an incredible interception. Me It is really
(45:25):
really good. Ain't nothing I have seen from Derek Stingley
or Kamari Laster. So good on Travis and good on
the Jags, because I think this is gonna make for
a really fun matchup with the Texas take on the Jags.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
But Travis Hunter, hmmm.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
Intrasting what's going on down in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
This for the old heads.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Jim Marshall, member of the Purple People Eaters Minnesota Vikings
vaunted nineteen seventies defense, played the most games consecutively until
Brett farre took that over passed away eighty seven. One
of the most beloved Vikings of all time. Jim Marshall
passed away at eighty seven. Speaking of Vikings, this one's
(46:08):
a former Viking. But Sam Donald started making the rounds
on Twitter, not his Twitter account, but just the name
Sam Donald because he had thrown a couple interceptions in
OTAs and of course, Seattle at one point in their history,
took a free agent that's sent a lot of money
at quarterback and put him on a bench so the
rookie could play. Now, I don't think this will happen
(46:30):
in Seattle, But Mike McDonald was asked the question.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
Hey do you think Sam Donald might not be the
starter of this year?
Speaker 2 (46:38):
All basically based on a couple of OTA throws, and
Mike McDonald said, and I quote, that's crazy and even
more so, No, you guys are crazy. I respect that
you've got to ask the question, but it's just a
crazy question. It's just not gonna happen. Sam's are starting quarterback.
We love him, He's doing a tremendous job. Awesome the
(47:00):
you have a tough Ota. You know what it means nothing,
have a great Ota? What does it mean everything? Well, okay,
the math doesn't always work, but you get the point.
Don't overreact, don't underreact, Just you know, have fun watching
and then see what happens in the fall, because that's
when it really matters. All right, great show, appreciate Mark
being here. Thanks to Kamari and Christian for being great
(47:23):
at the mic. All of you guys for listening. My
guys back at six'. Ten you guys are the. Best
we'll see. Tomorrow LIKE i said the, general we'll be
with me for A thursday's. Show you don't want to miss.
That It's area forty five coming up. Next keep it
right here On Sports radio six ten See. Tomorrow everybody
