Speaker 1 (00:13):
Yo, what's going on? Welcome to US Bank Stadium. After
the Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings thirty one twenty nine,
and the Detroit Lions have claimed first place in the
NFC North. They both have five and one records, but
the Lions through six obviously of that tiebreaker. It was
a strange game today. It was a super exciting game today,
(00:33):
Pete versus with your Shirley Paul Allen, I say it
was a strange game because of all those penalties in
the first half, and then there were just some nuanced
related plays late for the Vikings where if on third
and three they got a twenty nine to twenty eight lead,
Ivan Pace Junior scoops up a fumble caused by Josh
Mattelis gets into the end zone from thirty five out,
(00:54):
It's like, holy cow, we haven't led for like two
hours of real lifetime.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
We have the lead.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Then there was a third and three when they got
the ball back. Darnold, who from whom you'll hear later,
for whatever the reason, decided to throw it one hundred
miles per hour to Jefferson on third and three by
the Lions sideline. Then they had to punt and that
paved the way for a Lion's victory.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, I think I think the disappointing part of today,
you know, you got to you gotta give them credit
for coming back in the second half offense turning things around.
It was just a number the number of mistakes that
were made today. And there were coverage mistakes, areas that
were left open and blitzing that gave Detroit a couple
(01:35):
of big touchdowns. And you know, on the offensive side,
a number of routes where you had two guys kind
of in the same zone. It just didn't look like
guys are in the right place. And you know, coming
out of a buy, you're very cognizant of those mistakes,
whether or not guys are dialed in mentally. I just
I just think that when they turn on the film
and watch this football game, they're going to have a
(01:57):
lot of things mental airs that they haven't I think
that much of all season long. And when you're playing
a very good football team like the Lions are, they're
gonna make you pay for their mistakes. Now, I'm not
taking anything away from Jamiir Gibbs and the rest of
this Lions offense. They're really good and Jared Goff very
(02:17):
good at diagnosing what we're trying to do and finding
where to go with the football. It's just these mistakes
that were made allowed them to be explosive, and I
think that's ultimately what cost us the game.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Well, you mentioned mistakes, and Darnold through an interception, Josh
Mitchell is forced to fumble. It ended up being the
Vikings third defensive touchdown this year. Okay, but they pushed
in the take give battle one to one. This is
the first time through twenty three games that Kevin O'Connell
has either pushed or won the takeover the takeaway battle
(02:49):
and lost the game.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Lost the game.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
So we pushed the take give and lost the game.
That just it further indicates how important that is.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, and when you score on defense, you win. I
need over ninety percent of football games. I mean, so
in that when you say it's it's a weird game,
that's exactly it. Statistically, you look at these numbers, I
mean they are almost identical. Third down conversion rate, total yards,
number of offensive plays, average game time of possession plus minus.
(03:19):
It's it's equal across the board. So what was the difference, Well,
you know, the difference was was was obviously it was
a close game, two point game, so it's a close
game obviously. But you know, as you go down that
rabbit hole, the mistakes, the smaller mistakes add up right
in the drive killers, especially for us early early or
in the first half. Just you know, we didn't put
(03:41):
it together a good long drive almost the entire first half.
Had we just come up with one one extra field goal, right, yeah,
it would have changed the complexity.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Well, that two point conversion. They're up one after the
Pace Junior score, so they got to go for two.
Very late in the game. Darnold throws it cleat high
to Jordan Addison. I think he was covered by one
of the safeties, branch Or Joseph, but I'm not sure
if he got rid of it too soon or but
it was a low pass and man they need And.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Then again goes back to being ready because you know
the offense they weren't on the field. Defense scores so
that you know they're celebrating, but at the same time, yeah,
you got to get yourself together and run a two
point conversion here. So again that whole that, that whole
thing is this isn't this isn't as mentally sharp as
I've seen this team in the past. And again you
(04:31):
you get back to the little things, and a little
things in a game like this matter so much, especially
against a good team, and we just made a few
too many mistakes.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Let's hear from Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Tough, hard fought football game against a really good team.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
I thought we did a lot of good things.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
But there's a lot of things that I think, just
collectively as a team, we can continue to improve on.
When you play a good football team like that, got to,
you know, find a way to limit some of the
things that you know set you back, whether it's penalties
or communication, whatever.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
It is a lot of areas we can improve on.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
But I'm proud of the way our guys battled came
back in the second half. Was they you know, we
were able to capture the lead, you know, really as
a team, and they you know, they were able to
you know, get that last three there, and and you
know we'd love to have a chance to give Will
a swing at the very end there. But a lot
of a lot of positives, a lot of things will
(05:31):
build off of going to be a challenging turnover this
week from a standpoint of a short week off a
physical game. Every guy in that locker room put everything
they had into it. So these are the moments where
we truly find out what we're all about and look
forward to leading this group through it.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
To how close did you need to get before you
would send Will out there?
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Yeah, you know, my confidence in him is uh, you know,
I was, you know, thinking about sending him anyway when
the penalty kind of marked it back.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I think it would have been about a seventy three
yard field.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Goal at that point, just outside his range.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
But yeah, I would have. I would have.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Absolutely hopefully gave him a swing there. That's a pretty
significant gain, especially with the play we had on trying
to make sure we could get as much as possible
before potential Hill Mary chance or your last play kind
of chance. But the goal was I thought we were
pretty darn close. I got to take a look at
(06:32):
it exactly. I didn't get a great explanation, and it
was pretty loud as far as what they actually called,
but it sounded like we were either moving or not
totally legal, which would have would have been phenomenal to
see we'll get a swing from what would have been
probably what you know, sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, offensively, you just weren't as crisp as you had
been before the buying. If you think of buying to
travel had anything to do with.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
It, well, I you know, you know, I think if
you look at the course of the first five games,
I don't know if I'd necessarily agree with that kind
of the previous few, previous few, uh, you know, quarters
and things, and we really emphasized no self inflicteds. That's
really where you're you're seeing a lot of it. I mean,
I think we averaged over seven close to seven and
(07:17):
a half of play, you know, did a lot of
good things, but it's just these little self inflicteds, you know,
whether it's a formation or hold or you know, pre
snap in fraction. I got to get that stuff fixed
because when you're you know, trying to win at the
level we're trying to win against anybody we play, we
can't do anything to help good football teams out.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And we just need to worry about.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
All eleven guys executing the play both pre and post
snap with great detail in all three phases. And and
I'm gonna just keep pushing this team every single day
to try to do that. Kevin, were you guys, Gibbs
his eight yard touchdown, you guys just kind of caught
in the wrong defense and to think a pretty late Yeah,
you know, I would have to go back and look
(07:59):
at it. I know, third and whatever the D and
D was. You know, you're expecting, you know, hell of
a play call by them to Suneka running there. They
do that from time to time because Dan will be
aggressive on fourth down. So great play call by them,
and we got to figure out a way to keep
them out of the end.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Zone, like they're bringing receivers in to kind of chip
on the edges.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Was that something you had seen them do be world
or was that too for them?
Speaker 4 (08:25):
We've seen We've seen that from some other teams. You know,
there's always still gonna be some weakness in there. Even
if they're doing that and had a chance to get it,
maybe a little bit more penetration on a couple of
those looks maybe effect Jared back there a little bit more.
They executed, made some plays there. They had a nice
little sequence of three or four drives there where they
were able to really put some execution on tape. And
(08:47):
at that same time, it was kind of some self
inflicted things on offense that kind of put us behind
the chains, and we were able to overcome it a
few times, but at the other you know, when you don't,
that's where you have to figure out ways, and that's
my job to fix those self inflicted Maybe that might
not seem like a big deal at the time or
when it is in the game, but that's what kind
(09:08):
of football games.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
I believe are out in front of this team.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
When you're playing teams that are very, very good teams
and it's going to be competitive, not just the ones
we got left, but hopefully more. You got to be
willing to clean up those things and have the execution
level be to the standard that you need to play
in these games. And I thought there were some real
moments of that. I thought there was some fight dealt
with adversity in the game. But clearly, when if they're
(09:34):
able to get a field goal leave us fifteen seconds left,
it's not enough have offensively.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Coming out of the half.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Is there anything specific that around you guys to start
moving in.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
With the way you guys did.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, I think first and foremost we stopped kind of
shooting ourselves in the foot, and we did have that
drive kind of moving a little bit, and then we
had the interception. You know, I thought Sam played really,
you know, really good football today.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
A lot of big time throws.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
You know, we were able to get to you know,
get get that first touchdown, and there really good execution
of a of a of a.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Run by Aaron in our group.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
That's the kind of thing we need to have consistently,
over and over and over again. I think, are you know,
I was very happy with the way we were able
to respond in the third quarter and really, you know,
continue to make that thing a football game and and
and find our way claw on our way back. But
when you had a ten nothing lead, a little cleaner,
you know, complementary football there in the in the second quarter.
(10:29):
And we'll take a hard look at that and figure
out how to play consistent. But you're not gonna, you know,
really good teams, you're not gonna just steamroll through the
game and have perfect plays on every play. But you
better make sure it's them that's causing, you know, truly
some of those things to happen instead of some of
the self inflicted things.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
The two point conversion or anything.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
From what you saw, I think, yeah, they passed it off.
We had a little motion there, man coverage, they passed
it off. You know, Sam tried to you know, you know,
put it in there and do it. Window might have
had speedy in the corner. I gotta go take a
look at it. But you know, just one of those
things where you look back on it and you know,
those are the types of things to you know, get
(11:12):
those two points would be massive in that moment. And
then just some of the plays down the stretch. You know,
we got to be able to pitch and catch, We
got to be able to have you know, the execution
on a third and whatever it was four or five,
you know, Sam out there, I think all eleven could
have been better on the play to make sure the
detail is right.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
In those critical moments.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
There was a lot of great execution of a lot
of things today explosive again in the past game. We
just I think we're fifty fifty, right around fifty plays
and still able to manage to kind of stay toll
for toe time of possession wise, yardage wise, all the stats.
That's great, But what I want to see is those
little things, those little things that really good teams do
to give yourself the best chance to win football games
(11:56):
like this, You're.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Not expected to pass them off in that situation with
do there's there's a you know, we've got a plan
for it. Chris breed By, Jared Golf's just willingness to
stand there as much as you need to throw out
the day. Yeah, you know, Jared's a heck of a player.
I know Jared really.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Well, got a ton of respect for him. He's tough,
throws it as well as anybody.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
You know.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
They they've got a really good they've got a really
good offense.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Ben does a great job calling it.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
They're well coached and and it's just a matter of
you've got to be on the screws every single snap. Uh,
you know, run game defense, you've got to do the
little things against him with play style and all those
things that we've talked about. And then when you get
him in those situations, you know, how tight can we
be in coverage, how great can the rush be?
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Can we affect him? And if he's going to stand
in there and make.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Throws, you got to figure out a way to put
him in D and ds that that they they they're
they're gonna have to hold it a little more, and
we got to cover a little tighter, and all those things.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
It's just you. You can go back and watch, which
we will even on a short week. We'll get right
into it right now.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
But you're gonna find a lot of little things, little
tiny little details, techniques, fundamentals, calls that you know you
can you'd want back and got to find a way
to improve. You know, you can't be you can't just
enjoy the wins and and you know come back, we
enjoy those more than anything. But truly, you know, championship
caliber teams are gonna look inward. You know at the
(13:19):
first sign of adversity. We were able to do that
in game, come back and get the lead, But challenge
everybody to look inward and see if we can do
just a little bit more. Can we be a little
bit cleaner across the board? Because I have a ton
of confidence in our team, our players, and how we
work to continue to grow and get better.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
It's gonna be a long season.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Proud of the way our guys battle back, didn't get
it done in the end, I think do you think
do you think there was more of those little things today,
or they just show up more in a game. I
think they just show up more keV in a game
like this, the ebbs and flows of it. But yeah,
I I don't know exactly what the the total penalties.
(14:01):
I think both teams had eight, you know, and our
eighth was that last one trying to get that ball clocked.
But it's not even so much the volume, which you
always want to keep low. It's what is it How
does it impact that play because you just never in
a game like this, you know, our players and coaches
have to understand that we we cannot just treat the
(14:22):
end of game like this is.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
How we're going to go win it.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
It might be your your one impact might be a
second and eight in the middle of the second quarter,
might be a first and tent in the middle of
the first quarter, It might be the first play of
the game. But urgency and trying to make sure the
standard is driven to a place around here where we
get that execution. We make those plays and we consistently,
uh you know, complement all three phases of our team.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Kevin.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
It gives us catch at the end where they they
got them into field goal range.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yep, It's like it was way too easy or what
kind of breakdown happened? Then?
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah, I uh, you know, was you know, getting ready
to you know, kind of manage the end of that
See if we could say ourselves some time, if they
got to play like that.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
I have to go back and look at it.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
You know a lot of times in those situations you're
hoping to maybe keep the back in, you know, keep
them in via pressure. Whatever it was he got out,
they were able to find him and it was an
explosive for sure, and a critical play in that moment.
We got to take a look at it and see
how we can you know, try to get them off
the field in that moment.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
But to me, it goes.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Back to how did we handle it when we you know,
were able to force the punt there late trying to
you know, we get a couple of runs off, get
to a third and manageable, and thought we had a
chance to convert, maybe eat even more clock up, maybe
start getting them to use their timeouts. That's the complementary
side of it where I don't think it's necessarily one play.
It's a collection of eleven guys needing to just do
a little bit more coaching included where we just all
(15:47):
do a little bit more to try to get a
win and play the best possible game we can play.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Kevin, what did you see on Sam's interception?
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Look click on the other side of the formation, eduined
sold proving a print. Yeah, so you know it was
man coverage and uh, you know, the safety was kind
of pre snapped leaning to Justin's side. Thought we might
have a chance there to maybe get Justin. Going away
from all that, Davis did a nice job you know
through five maybe beyond five with a little grab and
(16:16):
hold and just kind of throwing the rhythm of Justin
off maybe a little bit. Thought we might have had
a chance to maybe give Aaron the ball there kind
of as we talked about the play, but Sam had
Jordan flash to him and Branch did a really nice
job kind of being in the area, uh to to
kind of jump that throw. You know, that's one of
those things. Sam made so many good decisions today through
(16:37):
so many, uh you know, highly highly competitive throws to
give our guys chances touchdown to Justin included, and they
got us on that one.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
Just as far as Aaron Jones kind of battling through
the weeks Yep.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
What did you make of the way that he played?
It was phenomenal. Yeah, he was really good.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
You know, he was not one but you know, literally
from the time we touched down from London, uh to today,
it's sign up to sundown treatment. And Tyler and his
staff did a great job. Aaron is a true pros pro,
one of those, you know, standard setters for our team.
And the fact that he was able to not only
make it but have the kind of impact he did
(17:13):
on the game, just very, very fortunate to have Aaron
Jones on the football team that I coach.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Well, I mean he said so many things there that
were pertinent to the way the game played out. Vikings
get the Rams by the way Thursday, So two games
in five days and it's a road game. But I mean,
the Lions what a professional team that they were inches
from going to the Super Bowl last year. They lose
Aiden Hutchinson, one of the best defensive players in the
NFL for the year last game. But offensively, this is
(17:42):
the best offense in the NFL, averaging thirty points a game,
twenty three first downs a game, that's number one in
the NFL. They run for one fifty seven a game,
and it just typifies how professional they are when you
hear this. Jared Goff twenty two of twenty five to
two eighty and two no picks. Jamiir Gibbs one hundred
(18:03):
and sixteen rushing yards, two touchdowns. Gibbs has scored five
touchdowns against the Vikings in his three games against Minnesota
so far. And I'm and Ross Saint Brown won twelve
and one.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Yeah, and you know, you look at what this offense,
the Lions offense has put up one hundred and twenty
points in the last three games. Wow, right, Yeah, and
we defensively, I think we're number two in the league
going into it. Yeah, a fifteen point two per game.
And you know, obviously obviously they they won out on
you know, on that on that side. But yes, very
(18:37):
very good offense. The question marks were really on defense,
and I think it took us a little while to
figure out what the Lions were doing and how we
could combat it. They kept a lot of linebackers on
the field. You know, I think that this means teams
are going to try to spread them out and do
those things. But just a little too long, you know,
a little too long, I think on our on our
(18:57):
what we expected. And that's a hard thing because when
you lose a player, you know, you lose a player
like Aiden Hutchinson, you don't know what the defense. He
was so much of this defense, you don't know what
their identity is going to be right after you lose
someone like that. So it took a little while to
feel him out. It just it's a well played football game.
Two good teams. It's exactly kind of what we expected.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Yeah, two of the better teams in the NFL met today,
both teams with injuries. Both team overcame the injuries. Sam
Darnold before we hear from him, he started a little slowly.
Now you know, Sam went a half into the third
quarter having not thrown a touchdown pass since five minutes
and change to go first half at lambeau Field a
(19:36):
fourteen yard touchdown to Justin Jefferson. So we're talking two
full games with no touchdown passes from the September Offensive
Player of the Month for the NFC. He finishes twenty
two of twenty seven to fifty nine, a touchdown in
that pick and he also ran for thirty nine yards
had a sweet one for nineteen yards. Sam the man
(19:57):
on the fan.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
What do you think, Yeah, I thought, you know, it
was it was great to see him kind of rebound
from the from the interception that he threw, you know,
earlier in the game. I think the lines at a
really good job of mixing and zone and man and
in that respect, Donald needed to know that when it's man,
you can throw that fifty to fifty ball to JJ,
or you can throw the fifty to fifty ball. You know,
(20:19):
there was no one really running wide open. That's the
time when you really got to get that thing, you know,
just get it in there and and and make a
little bit more of a risky throw. So it just
seemed like the timing was off right. He held the
ball more, I think today than we've seen him all year,
all year long. And you know again, I but then
I go down that rabit only think about these routes.
(20:40):
A lot of these routes just did not look right.
You had guys stacked on top of one another, and
we said, I said it to you a couple of
times even during the games like that. It didn't look
right because you don't know who the intended receiver is for.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
So is it mistakes?
Speaker 3 (20:54):
You know, what is it I you know, we'll see,
but yeah, Donald, just I hate to see him holding
on in the football as much as he did today.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Let's hear from Sam Darnold, quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings, on.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
Guys, Yeah, obviously, you know, uh, tough loss, really good
football team we just played. I still feel like, you know,
operationally we can get better. Still, some missed opportunities out there,
and uh but yeah again just uh, you know, we
tip our caps to those guys and you know, really
good ball club. But again there's there's a lot of
(21:30):
a lot of stuff that we could have done better
on offense.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
U SUD, What did you feel like allow your guys
come out of the half to to initially have the succession?
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Guys did that for sure? Yeah.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
I think it's you know, just staying you know, staying
with it. You know, it's it's football. You know, things
things aren't necessarily going to go your way all the time.
So you know, that surgeon, you know, to to come
out there, you know in the second half with a
with a U sound was huge, and uh yeah, you
(22:05):
know that's just kind of the team that we have,
you know, no matter what the score is, no matter
what's happening. We're we're gonna continue to be resilient.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
The final possession there, the overthrowing Jefferson, you think you
could have done better?
Speaker 6 (22:16):
What would have happened here?
Speaker 2 (22:17):
To keep that going, we'll play sorry, the last possession
third four?
Speaker 6 (22:21):
I think, oh yeah, second to last possession. Uh no,
that's okay. Uh yeah, you know, just uh, you know,
could have put it on them a little bit more,
you know, a little bit better. But again, just gotta
gotta watch the tape, you know, and and kind of
look at that one from from different angles.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
SA say, do you feel like there's a theme operationally
with some of the penalties, like among them or they
all kind of individual and exclusive to their own.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Yeah, you know, just uh, you know, just gotta continue
to clean things up. I think that's the biggest thing.
Watch the tape and and grow from it.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
What did you see on that interception?
Speaker 6 (23:05):
Yeah, you know, you know, first of all, I think
you know the way you know, Detroit disguised certain coverages
and and you know, in the back end, and you know,
with certain you know, different fronts being able to bring
pressure in different ways, they do a really good job.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
And you know, obviously.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Can't let that happen, you know, And uh but again
I think you know, Branch made a really good play
on that.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
How do you see the division race shaping?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Obviously you have four moves from the contectors here. I mean,
it's gonna be a knife fight on or three you think.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Sorry, so one more time, I couldn't really.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Hear division race shaping up coming forward?
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah, I mean it's still still early in the season.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
You know.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
Obviously Detroit's a good football team, green Bay is a
really good football team.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Chicago is a good football team.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
So you know, we're just gonna continue to put our
heads down and work. That's all we know how to do. Obviously,
we have a short week this week, so got a
lot of guys in there already recovering and getting ready
for for Thursday. So you know, it's a quick turnaround
and a lot of us just gotta you know, continue
to as we do all the time, but especially this week,
we just got to put our heads down and move
(24:13):
on to the next one.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Obviously, your first loves with this group, I mean, what
gives you the confidence that you guys will bounce back
the right way?
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Yeah, I think just the kind of guys we have
in that locker room. Uh, you know, we haven't. We
haven't bat at eye all year, no matter what the circumstances.
So we're just gonna continue to, like I just said,
put our heads down, continue to be resilient, and uh
you know, I think the biggest thing too, is just
playing consistent football. If we can continue to do that,
we'll be all right.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
All right.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
So the five and one Minnesota Vikings take on the
LA Rams Thursday, two games in five days. It's a
road game. You've played in games on short weeks you
have coach when you're a linebackers coach here, you've coached
teams on short weeks with travel. The Vikings will leave Wednesday,
they will play Thursday evening. It's so far. What are
some challenge for the team that's making the trip on
(25:02):
a short week.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Well, there's a lot of challenges overall, meaning you only
have really one day of meetings in practice. You know,
because you do get these, you get a mandatory day off,
so they're not going to work tomorrow. They'll be there
all day Tuesday Wednesday. You got to get as much
work in as you can go. So you can't reinvent
the wheel so these distematics offensively and defensively, you got
to carry over as much as you possibly can and
(25:25):
just tweak as much as you can. Your goal is
to know an offense or a defense that you're going
up against, and in such a short amount of time,
it's really really hard to do. So each of the
players has to watch a little bit of extra film,
spend the lecture time getting themselves familiar with their upcoming opponent.
On a short week.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
The Minnesota Vikings fall to the Detroit Lions today in
dramatic fashion. Jake Bates first full year from Arkansas. He's
kicking because their regular kicker Michael Badgely is on IR
and he kicked the first game winner of his career
and a hit from forty four and to propel the
Detroit Lions to a two point victory thirty one twenty nine.
(26:05):
We next, we'll chat with you from SOFI Stadium on
Thursday for Pete Versage.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I'm Paul Allen.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Thank you for listening to the postgame report. Lions win
take first place, but the Vikings are still five and one.
