Welcome to the Vikings Postgame Report. The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-29 at Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings started fast and ran out to a 28-0 lead in the first half. Green Bay scored the next 22 points and made it interesting deep into the 4th Quarter. Will Reichard hit a 33-yard field goal with 6:05 to play, the Packers added a touchdown in the final minute, and the Vikings recovered the onside kick to seal the victory. Sam Darnold finished the day 20-of-28, for 275 yards passing, 3 TD's, 1 INT, and added 17 yards on the ground. Aaron Jones led the rushing attack with 93 yds on the ground and 46 yards through the air. Justin Jefferson pulled in 6 catches for 85-yards and a touchdown to lead the Vikings receivers. Defensively, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Shaquill Griffin, and Byron Murphy Jr. picked off Jordan Love once each. The defense finished with 10 QB hits on Love, 12 pass deflections, and Patrick Jones II notched another sack this week. Kicker Will Reichard was perfect yet again and the Vikings pushed their record to 4-0. The Vikings now shift their sights to London, England as they square off against the NY Jets next Sunday at Tottenham-Hotspur Stadium. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich break it all down, including: the fast start by the Vikings offense, Aaron Jones returning to Lambeau Field, Jordan Addison's impact back in this offense, the defense being opportunistic, and the tight finish at the end.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Well, the Minnesota Vikings are four and oh after a
victory at lambeau Field over the Green Bay Packers, the
final score thirty one twenty nine. The Vikings jumped Green
Bay and led twenty eight zero with five minutes and
change to go in the first half. There was no
scoring in the third quarter, and then all of a
sudden things got a little interesting. Vikings won by two.

(00:35):
But the bottom line, mister Pete versus analysts for the
Vikings radio network and I'm Paul Allen, is they got
to the winner circle. They got to the finish line first,
and we had to London a four and o operation.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yeah, and then you know, you go into this game
and with how it went in the first half, the
one thing that this team hadn't faced is adversity. Now,
a lot of this adversity today was self inflicted, no
question about it. However, they did have a chance to panic,
and they didn't. They held in there. The defense pall
for much of the game, except maybe that last giving

(01:08):
up the last touchdown in a couple of plays in
their couple series in the third and fourth quarter, just
played brilliantly. The execution was there, just outstanding. Every week
they surprised me. I think with how well they play
and you know today, you just every week, it's it's
a different it's a different group.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I thought.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
The corners answered the answered the bell today. Uh with
the with the turnovers, the interceptions, I mean, yeah, it's hard.
It's you sit there and say, all right, MVP of
the defense, it's not one guy. And that's kind of
the beauty of it. It's it's it's such a group effort.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Well, well, that's interesting you say that, because it's been
a different guy standing out every week. So the first
week they beat the Giants, Rock Valley, Io will go crazy.
By the way, great story by Ben Geslin and The
Star Tribune on Andrew Van Ginkl and uh and life
in Rock Valley Star Tribune dot com. But it was
Van Ginkle then in the forty nine Ers game, Bashman

(02:00):
thirteen tackles, had a sack, three passes defense against Houston.
Grenard steals the show and has three sacks. Today, I'm
going to give it to Byron Murphy Junior, who had
an interception and a forced fumble at the end of
the game. And it's not like Byron had a Dion
Sanders Lester Hayes esque game. They were picking on him

(02:20):
and they were making money on the Murphy Junior side
of the field. But Byron stepped up and he turned
the tables on those who were picking on him. And
I just feel really good for Byron Murphy Junior.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, I mean Shack Griffin getting himself in the in
the mix, cam Binen was in the mix. How about
kamugouje Hill, Yeah, unbelievable. I mean, you know, he has
an interception last week, he gets what he hits a
brilliant That was a brilliant interception today. So all those
guys really patrolling the middle of the field that did
such a good job. And this is a team, Paul,

(02:54):
that's made its money thus far on turnovers, right, Yeah,
and we were able to come in here and continue.
You are trending the sacks, you know, our turning the
football over and so that's yeah, just a brilliantly executed
game for the most part by the defense.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
The Vikings finished with just one sack today, and I'm
glad it was Patrick Jones Senior who got it. Patrick
Jones the second that is because it was his twenty
sixth birthday today, So the Vikings had sixteen sacks for
the first three games, which led the National Football League.
They only got one today. It was Patrick Jones the second.
So green Bay also has a right to shore things

(03:33):
up and stop somebody from like continuously sacking the quarterback.
But you know another key from today p from lambeau
Field Vikings four to zero, green Bay two and two.
What a massive NFC North related win, by the way,
with that tiebreaker situation. But anyway is the Vikings won
the turnover battle and they were down one in it
after going up too, and then it was three to three.

(03:54):
And then you got Murphy doing his stuff because the
Minnesota Vikings under Kevin O'Connell are twenty one and oh
when they win or push the take give and they
wanted today.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
And you know I got another in a tip of
the cap. Two to the offense. These wide receivers today,
Jordanatison coming back and you know, having a huge day,
justin Jefferson, six receptions, eighty five yards, a beautiful touchdown reception.
We kept our foot in the gas pedal. And I've
talked about it before where teams get up and then
they decide we're just going to run the ball. Let

(04:28):
the defense try to win this thing. Then they get
out of their element. The game gets close, and when
they go to throw the football again and get back
into that normal offense, you can't. There were a couple
of drives late in this game, the big catch by
JJ with the man and man coverage to get the
move the ball, keep the clock moving. There were a
number of those huge plays that happened throwing the football,

(04:51):
and you know it was it's who we are, right
and and for Kevin O'Connell, he stayed true to who
this offense is and they came through and Sam Donald
he only comes out with a one twenty three point
four rating. I mean, the guy is unconscious and three
touchdown brilliant thing, brilliantly executing the offense. Offensive line. Paul

(05:12):
did a phenomenal job today. One sack that they gave up,
it was a protection, kind of a protection Ara, but
that was right after Donald kind of twisted his ankle
and scramble and you can kind of see how the
whole thing got for Klempt and we allowed a free
packer to the ball. And so outside of that though,
and this is a tough conditions today too. The wind
everything else. It affected Jordan Love You could see that,

(05:35):
and you know he managed to hang in there and
have a great day.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Jordan Addison hadn't played the last two and was doing
quite well in the Giants game when he messed up
his ankle, missed the last two, came back and came
back big. Three catches, seventy two yards, first touchdown of
the game, but he also had the first rushing touchdown
of his career. It was a seven yard run during
that onslaught when O'Connell's Vikings were opening up four more

(06:00):
touchdowns on Green Bay in the first half. Speaking of
Kevin O'Connell, here's what he had to say following the game.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
All Right, a tough place to come win.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Really loved the start we got off to knew it
was gonna be more than likely a four quarter game.
Give Matt and his team a lot of credit for,
you know, taking advantage of some mistakes by us, but
ultimately proud of our guys.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
For finishing that off the way we did.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Won the turnover battle even though we had you know,
one for sure that should have been avoidable, and then
ultimately just did enough there offensively in the second half
to make some plays to to get some points and
at least make it a two possession game, and a
lot of things still to clean up.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Starts with me.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
We'll make sure we're keeping on, you know, refining this
football team.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
But make no mistake about it.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
I got a lot of confidence in the guys in
the locker room. I got a lot of confidence in
our coaching staff. And what happened today means absolutely nothing
moving forward either than we got to go back to
work and continue to improve as a football team. Because
I absolutely love this team, every single member on it,
everybody that's here, that's all in, every single day.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
It's awesome to be the head football coach right.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Now this organization because I I feel we've got the
right kind of guys, right kind of leadership, and we're
going to continue to improve, which is important.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
When you cut it to twenty twenty two, can you
take the first place of Jefferson's seventeen yard thinks you
kind of.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Went yeah, you know, kind of based upon the adjustments
that they were making. They did some things to know
when we had a lead, they did some things to
try to force some negative runs, tightened up a little
bit and kind of had a chance there to get
to it versus the look we got and and really.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Thought the thought process.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
There are multiple ways, including that huge third down that
I ended up challenging. It was to take advantage of
justin being a guy we can lean on in those moments.
But Sam Darnold, when we had the momentum place was
going nuts and just leaning into our quarterback and our
guys in that huddle to put together really.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Good drive right there.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Would have loved to get seven, but critical, critical execution
by our guys and ability to respond in that moment
after losing, you know, a significant lead, and those guys
battle back. I think this team is kind of what
I'm getting at. I think they're made of the right
stuff and we're just gonna keep playing.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And there certainly been times in football we're in that
SAXT situation.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
Teams are running no matter how many people in the
US or how many people, but.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Yeah, even you know, we're trying to get Aaron on
a red zone play there, and one of the best
safeties in football made a play on it, but we
wanted to be aggressive second and one great call by
half to kind of call the defense he did to
end up with that matchup instead of it being a
linebacker or anybody else in the defense for that matter,
is probably you know, the one guy you don't want

(08:50):
covering that route, and he made a great play on
the football. I love Sam being aggressive because he's feeling
me trying to stay aggressive. The lack of scoring in
the second half really wasn't really wasn't about us, you know,
taking our foot off the gas or anything.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
They did some things to adjust.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
We had some self inflicted penalties, some things that you
know first and five, you know, false starts and going
back to just non productive downs. And then once you
do that, a couple of their kind of second half
adjustment pressures gave us some problems that I got to
get cleaned up one hundred percent on me, But in
the end we were able to block them up and
get enough through the air.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
And then I did like some of the run game production.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I mean only running for you know, about three and
a half a carry, but the thirty four rushing attempts
is a commitment that we want to continue to show,
and some of those plays tojustin we're byproducts of a
commitment to just continuing to churn out yards against a
really good front, but to win the rushing battle for
the fourth game in a row against the number one

(09:50):
rushing team in the league, I thought it was going
to be a critical part of what it was going
to take to win the game.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
When you're up nine there towards the end and you
go for to fourth that once for the thought process,
the air goal, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
The field goal takes you to twelve.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
I would have you know, just want to I just
want our guys to understand that I believe in them.
We didn't overly have a lot of success on those
short yardage situations.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Today.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
You know, thought we had a chance to maybe getting
them to pack in there a little bit and see
if we can get a yard yard and a half
whatever it was. They made a play, and but I
want our guys to know I'm gonna be aggressive. I
have nothing but confidence in the eleven guys in any
phase of our team going out there in those moments,
and you know, we if we just keep improving, ben

(10:33):
if we just keep focusing on you know, the results
are great. And I hope Vikings fans and everybody's excited
about the start we've.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Gotten off to.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
I'm going to continue to not allow that to be
a factor in anything we do withinside the walls of
our organization, because we've been purposefully working and driven from
the very first time I stood but in front of
these guys in training camp, my belief of them, they're
not learning things about me and my belief of our
team just because the results are coming.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
It's just not my makeup. Leaning into Sam with the
poise he showed, Yeah, I mean this is you.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I mean, you guys could feel it, the juice and
the energy in here. The momentum in football is a
serious thing. Plays that sometimes at different points in the
game could look a whole different way.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Momentum, the energy.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
They I thought it was, you know, pretty significant atmosphere,
especially in that second half. Credit them for you know,
being down like they were, but their fan base got
it going a lot of purple out there today as well,
which I think we felt especially throughout the day.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
But yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Think just leaning into your quarterback, my confidence level in
him is is really high because he's making some throws
the throat to Jordan on the dagger there on the backside. Essentially,
you know, whether they had a double on Jets or not.
It kind of played out like that progressing in rhythm,
big time moment in the game and getting that ball
thrown and caught. I thought Jordan was huge coming back,

(11:59):
felt his impact. Obviously, Speedy's still making some plays out there.
You know, we've had Josh Oliver catch a touch and
I think that's our sixth different player to catch a
touchdown this year. And we're you know, just continuing to
you know, stay true to who we want to be offensive.
But our guys are handling great you know, great game
plans that our coaching staff's putting together. And once again

(12:20):
I'm I walk out of here. It's nothing matters but
the next one, which is a hell of a challenge,
you know, going to going to London and playing a
really good football team.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Why is it so important for.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
You to note for the guys who know your aggressive.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
And you believe that.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
I just think, you know, it coincides, keV with what
I've been kind of talking with them about long before
the first win, second, third, or fourth win ever came
my belief, my belief in our defense, my belief in
our kicking game to go out there when we shouldn't really.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Have allowed it to get to an on side kick.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
But you know belief in those guys to go execute
in those moments because.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
I know that they believe in themselves.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
So I'm just really you know, stating the obvious inside
that locker room and confirming to them that I believe
in him, I love him, and and we're gonna ride together,
and we're gonna stay aggressive while being smart.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
There's always a line there.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
But really proud of our guys.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
There's some mistakes at least early. He came on late,
just were able to kind of bother him.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
For I mean, for a guy that you know, probably
hasn't gotten a ton of full speed practice work, I
think he just his his battle and really kind of
throwing the team on his back there.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
It's wildly impressive.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
There's a lot of tough looks, like you said, and
he just kept playing. He's a really really good player.
And give him all the credit in the world. Uh,
you know, not really concerned about you know, where he's
at health wise. I just know he's worked his ass
off to get back and was incredibly difficult to deal
with today, Uh for our team, So compliments to him.
I think Matt's a great coach and and had his

(13:51):
team competing in battling and hopefully, uh you know, the
NFC North, it's going to be incredibly competitive and these
games are gonna be close. But I told our team
just now, we're learning a lot about ourselves and but
not something that we didn't already have a gut feeling
existed within that locker room.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
If you hesitated all on that fourth down.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah, we had some dialogue, if you know, depending on it.
You know what I was really thinking in the moment,
transparency wise, is you know, do you want to make
it more than just you make them have to score
two touchdowns? You know which, looking back on it, I'm
sure people will will wonder, you know, why that decision happens.
But once again, I can't really make those decisions based

(14:34):
upon the oh no, what could happen type thing. I'm
gonna be aggressive and always smart, and I thought we
had a chance to convert with the player that I called.
They made a play and stopped us, and knowing that
they would then have to go ninety whatever it was
six yards seven yards. Credit them though, they were able
to do it pretty quickly.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
After they get the strip sack and they go up cigar.
If they get within six you came out from them
right away.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah, I feel like that maybe them up. It seemed like, yeah, it.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Kind of you know, got the kind of the look
that I was hunting for on the play and knew
that off of kind of that hopefully that action and
kind of what would be going on we would give
Sam a clean pocket to be able to step into
that thing and threw a down through strike.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Did you have a one in package with that or
was that a straight pass on that playoff?

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Then you know, I'm not gonna answer that question.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
We had another football play packaged with it. It may
have been you know, it may have been a trick play,
may have been a round screen, keeper, drop back, play action,
quick kick. I can confirm it health Yes, some.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Of Justin's kitches.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
But the touchdown, the sideline Warne touchdown was unbelievable. And
then in that moment, you know, thinking about kind of
didn't really just have him static very much all day long,
but in that moment, you know, with some of the
pressure looks we were getting, and uh, you know, thinking
about you know, where the football was going to have

(16:05):
a chance to go Sam, you know, pitch and catch
to you the best receieve in football and for him
to open up his stride like he did on a chalkboard.
You're not normally hedging on that route getting that game
on that play, but he was absolutely.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Rolling off the ball. And then I knew, I knew
his feet.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
We were down, and I thought it was going to
be a similar play to the interception that I thought
was really close as far as you know, when there
was a little bit of separation of the ball and
then when did he when did the defender go down
with it? But then first thing I did, you know,
just in the moment, was you know, ask him if
you survived the ground and to catch because I think
you were in and he's like first down then and

(16:48):
we started talking about what we're gonna call next.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
The challenge flag to the hatch. I threw it. I
threw it far. You know.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
It's the good thing is there's a lot of analogies
you can use about you know, you don't have to
be very accurate with that thing, thank goodness. But I
threw it far in the moment because there was some
emotion involved in it. Maybe that's you know, you know,
you wear a headset and you know dockers to the game.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
You get one chance to kind of Blake Kesher's not
Dockers from here.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Blake Kesher was saying, yeah, it's great to win here,
but even go great about.

Speaker 6 (17:24):
With defense finish.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
What how did you emphasize, like which part of the
did you emphasize the positivity of the wind.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
Or or that you know something's on the field the
second half?

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, both both, because I think it's important based upon
what we talked about at halftime of understanding, uh, there
was gonna be a momentum coming. I didn't love the
way we finished the first half. You know, BP gets
a little banged up and and uh, you know, a
credit Speedy for going back there and being willing to
try to field that kick. But you know, we you know,
we we thought at that point anything over his head

(17:54):
probably shouldn't be fielded. But in the moment, you know,
he's trying to make a play and ended up being
a big play. And then I just there were some
things I just didn't particularly like execution wise, pre snap, offensively,
you know, some of the pressures that uh, you know,
they were able to get home on and force some negatives.
I thought our defense responded in some critical moments and

(18:18):
and really just the back and forth of a team
that was very very close to you know, playing for
playing for it all last year. We knew what we
were signing up for today. It's a really good football team,
tough place to come play. To come here two years
in a row and get a win speaks to what
we have in that locker room.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
For Byron to maybe have a couple of reps Ady'd
like back, but then come away with the pick and
then the punch out late, Like what did that say about?

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Yeah, a huge game of a game ball.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
I've always looked at Murph as he's got that kind
of closer's mentality. He's tough, physical, smart, loves football, great
scheme fit for us, plays a different variety of different
spots and uh, you know, the the smarts coming to play,
knowing the call, knowing the possibility that that ball is
going to come out one way or the other, staying

(19:02):
visual to be able to track it, finish it. You know,
those aren't easy catches by any stretch. And then comes
right back and then you're talking about the physicality of
a punch out. We've worked a lot on ball security,
We've worked a lot on our defense, taking the football
away whatever, by any means necessary within the.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Confines of the rules.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
And you know, it was an example of kind of
multiple aspects of our team coming together and helping overcome
the adversity, some of it many of it self inflicted.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
And that's one hundred percent on me.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Got to continue to just grow as a team, still
very very early in the season, by no means, you know,
do we feel like we're anything close to the finished product.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
We're going to be. Got to keep getting better every single.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Day and have laser focus right where our feet are
planet to try to improve because this league, every single
Sunday is an ultimate challenge, regardless of who you're playing.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
You know, with Justin Jefferson today, he finished with six catches,
eighty six yards and a touchdown, So he has a
touchdow in every game this year. I think I think
that's six in a row going back to last year
in the final two regular season games. But he's JJ
and he does stuff like that. But didn't you kind
of get the feel late, you know, when Green Bay
was charging at the Vikings A the Vikings were completely

(20:15):
poised that they didn't freak out. You know, there wasn't
a bunch of people finger pointing. There clearly was a
blown coverage between Murphy Junior and Joshua Mattellis on Dontavian
Wicks on a long hit very late. The disguy's gone wrong, okay,
And instead of them like yelling at each other, like
you know, freaking out, na, they just like talked and
went back to the huddle. But but for Kevin O'Connell,

(20:38):
the offensive coordinator, West Phillips, Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson,
it just had a feel of, all right, we haven't
thrown the ball to him in a while. We got
to go out there and win this thing. Let's just
go find eighteen and win the game.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
And they did.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
And how about that catch you made in the sidelines late, Yeah,
it was initially you know, ruled incomplete and then upon
further review, I mean, that was that was the thing
of beauty. So yeah, it may not be a huge
box score day for Justin Jefferson, but he's still outstanding
in the Packers, Paul. They forced the issue because of
the way the game went. They knew the Vikings wanted

(21:13):
to keep the clock moving and run the football, so
they were packing the box, putting eight guys in playing
man demand, blitzing, doing those things. And this is that
this team is built to make teams pay to do
for doing that. Right, You're gonna leave our ride receivers
one on one on the outside. We got a quarterback
that can throw like you know, forget it and those
that was kind of the hand that was dealt to

(21:35):
this Viking offense late in this game. And you know, personally,
like I said, I'm fuming because I want to see
him run the ball. But it's like, you know what
this with these guys, with this team, the way you know,
with the way the league is now, you got to
take what the teams that the defenses are giving you.
And they did and when we needed the first downs,
so we needed to move the chains. I mean, we

(21:55):
left three points on the board. We could have kicked
the field goal right at the end, right, but when
we needed it, we got it and thank Evans for that.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Donald he had eight different receivers Trent Sherfield senior Ty Chandler.
They each had a reception. Jalen Naylor ed one munt
and Josh Oliver had two. Aaron Jones in his bally
hood return to lambeau Field, where he spent his first
seven years here, one of the more popular players quite honestly,
in the history of Packers football. I mean, he wasn't
here a decade, but man, is he a beloved person here.

(22:25):
And he assualted the earth too when she wants. You
get to know him, and he's a very good player.
He had one hundred and forty yards total.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
That's what I was just going to say.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
I mean, it's like you look back and you're like, yeah,
it's like he just gets one hundred and forty and
you don't even notice, right, Just man, is he good.
He's just so good.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Sam Darnold finishes twenty twenty eight, two seventy five and three,
and so he has eleven touchdowns through four games. That
could lead the league depending on what happens today. And
speaking of slinging Sammy, here's what he had to say
following the game.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Great on the road, divisional win.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
You know would have loved to, you know, have a
little bit better second half, third quarter especially, but you
know the way that we were able to finish that out,
you know, with that long drive and then you know
having having them you know, kick having to kick an
onside kick, you know, to be able to get the
ball back. You know, that's the position that we that
we want to be in at the end of the game.
But a lot to learn from overall as an offense.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
Same just that on the drive where you were able
to go up by two scores there. I was just saying,
you were kind of reminding guys, you know, hold onto
the ball in one play of time. I guess what
was your mentality going into that drive and why would.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Be able to execute?

Speaker 5 (23:36):
Yeah, I think that's just it. I think it's you know,
you got to have that mindset. You know, you can't
you can't think about what might happen or what has happened,
you know, them coming back. You always got to continue
to have that mindset of just you know, one step
in front of the other, one foot in front of
the other. And uh, you know, as long as we
continue to have that mindset as an offense as a
whole team, you know, I feel like we'll be all right.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
Say on the first down play the seventeen year pass
to uh JJ, did you check into that? Did you
check kind of a play go to that after you
saw the look did you want?

Speaker 5 (24:08):
Yeah? You know, it was uh, you know a really
good check by by everyone. You know, it wasn't just me,
but yeah, it was uh, you know, it was a
good call.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
What did y'all see him one another before the season?

Speaker 5 (24:22):
The mad y'all confident you could have the kind.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Of start that y'all one more time time.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Why did y'all see him one another before the season?
That made y'all confident that you could have to kind
of start your talents? Yeah, I mean just you know,
you know, our attacking schemes on offense, defense, special teams,
and then the players we got. You know, it's a
it's a really good formula for success in this league.
But at the end of the day, like we we
believe in each other more than anyone else believes in us.

(24:49):
So you know, it's a really really good formula. But again,
we we got to continue to learn from the things
that we didn't do in this game, you know, the
way that they were able to come back U you know,
like I said on offense, I feel like we could
have been a lot better in the second half and
just got to continue to learn and grow.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
A good call in their first down to play? What
do you think of Justine's catching? Yeah, that was unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
One of the better catches I've ever seen, you know,
just the way that he was able to obviously catch
the football and then be able to get the toe
tap there as well.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Yeah, it was a special play.

Speaker 6 (25:27):
And after they get it to one score and you
guys take possession for that, you know, justin pass to
start that. If you watch football long enough, it's like
a lot of teams you'll see just running the ball right,
trying to kill timing. It's curious like how it felt
to sort of being trusted, not just you, but the
entire offense to win it.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Through the air.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
Yeah, we're gonna continue to be aggressive, you know, no
matter what, no matter what situation we're in. Obviously there's
a time and place when you want to continue to
run the football and grind the clock. But you know,
just the trust that you know, Ko, the entire off
of staff not only has in me, but the entire
offense to be able to go out there and execute.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah. Same your touchdown pass to to Justin.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Is that one of the situations that even if he's blanket,
did you feel like you had the trust in him
that he's gonna make it play for you? There Yeah,
I think just you know, one on one coverage, just
being able to give that guy a chance. That's really
all I did.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
Just getting Jordan Edison back and then getting you involved early.
How big was that for you?

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (26:27):
It was huge, man. You know, just the way you know,
the last few games, the way that speedy Jalen Naylor
has been able to step up for us has been huge.
And then to be able to get Jordan back and
continue to have all these pieces that we can use,
you know, it's special. It makes our offense really tough,
and you know, just going to continue to learn and
grow and and continue to you know, have fun playing

(26:51):
both these guys.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Man.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Same, was there anything sing out about the way that
they their strategy of attack with the detections?

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Is there everything that would change?

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Noticeabli? Yeah, you know, I think you know, they got
us a couple of times on some of those looks,
and you know, I felt like we did a really
good job of being able to check protection on some
of those. But you know, we just got to continue
to to force the communication, understand where the play clock's at,
and just roll and and trust our you know, trust

(27:23):
what we see because you know, like we talked about
all the time. We face it all the time in
OTAs and training camp, so just got to continue to
communicate at a high level.

Speaker 7 (27:32):
What was your sense for just what this meant to
Aaron Jones to get this win today?

Speaker 3 (27:37):
It was huge, man.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Just the way that you know, when he when he
came out of the out of the tunnel, and the
way that he was greeted by these fans. You know
that that just kind of shows the kind of person
that he is and how much he means to Green
Bay and you know, the kind of guy that he's
been ever since he got to Minnesota with me, you know,
being the new guys. You know, this locker room has

(28:01):
been very special for us to be able to you know,
step in and those guys have made it feel like
home right away for me and him. So, you know,
Aaron's a really special player obviously, but even a special
more special person. Would you think generally about just playing
here for the first time in that environment? It was awesome, man,
one of the best, if not the best environment in football.

(28:24):
You know, it was, Uh, it was really special to
be able to play in this in this stadium obviously,
just you know, one of the more traditional stadiums. Just
how far everything goes back with you know, this organization.
It's uh, it was really fun to be able to,
you know, step foot in that stadium and in play
football game special.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
All right, let's close like this the kicker, I mean,
like I said during the broadcast in a couple of
times nine to noon last week in the Texans game,
when he hit the right upright from fifty eight yards,
the upright moved, the football didn't. That's how powerful and
good this kid is. He's yet to miss a kick

(29:05):
this year, extra points, field goals, everything.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
What a great draft pick by Kwasia Doova Mensa and
his staff with Will Riker.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, and you know, you talk about this team and
where does rekerd fall maybe you know number fifteen twenty
with all the names that we have on this roster.
But he has been so consistent and you watch him
you can tell obviously he went to big time, big play,
big time college football, was in a lot of big
spots and he just goes about his business like he's

(29:33):
been doing this for one hundred years, right, And the
stability that brings, I mean, dare I say, and with
the kicking that in all those of us are the
long memories. He doesn't know. He's his first year as
a Viking, he has no idea about the history.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
He probably doesn't care and doesn't care, and.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
So drafting him and bringing him in has been absolutely
huge in today. Yeah, today was it was big. I
mean with with his with his extra point in the
field goal. The guy's just been money, Paul, And what
else can you say but thank goodness he's on our squad.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Are you ready to mind the gap?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, absolutely, We're going to mind the gap.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Next week from Tottenham Hotspur against the New York Jets,
and the Minnesota Vikings bring a four and oh football
team to London to take on the New York Jets.
That's the next time you'll hear us on the postgame report.
Great job calling the game today, Pete, it was fun.
That's Pete Bursa, channalysts for the Vikings Radio network, and
I'm Paul Allen. This is a Curly Heroes production, and
we have good news from the America's dairy land, the

(30:33):
land of Milk and honey, where the Minnesota Vikings turned
it into the land of bilk and funny. They were
able to take a win from Green Bay, and as
a sum it was quite humorous. Thirty one twenty nine
Minnesota wins. I'm Paul Allen. Thank you for listening to
