Speaker 1 (00:15):
Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears in overtime thirty to
twenty seven. Welcome to the Vikings postgame report. It's your
play by play guy Paul Allen with the analyst on
the Vikings Radio network and kfa N Pete Bursich. What
an improbable way to finish a game? The Vikings. Parker Romo,
the fill in kicker, hit a field goal very late
(00:35):
in the game. The Vikings looked like a cinch to win.
DeAndre Carter had a long kick return. Dallas Turner saved
the day. Bears got into the end zone, got the
two point conversion way too easily. Then an onside kick
which nobody ever gets in the NFL, bounces off the
leg of Johnny Munt. Bears recover it. Cairo Santos ties
the game. We go to overtime and Parker Romo walks
(00:58):
off a winner the Viks nine and two.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, and what you know, actually, what a what a
nice job by the Vikis defense once once the table
was kind of reset it overtime because the Bears were
able to know trying to play a little bit of
our pre event, they were moving the ball. Caleb Williams
was feeling good. And then to hit that reset button
and to really make that Bears offense go backwards, force
him to punt and our offense starting the starting on
(01:23):
their own nineteen yard line, able to get themselves in
the field goal range. Couple nice throws, Addison being big JJ.
Finally you know with the second catch of the day,
another huge thing in Hockinson. So you know, the offense
kept their front on the gas the whole game. Four
hundred and fifty four yards of offense, I believe. So
that's a big day. That's a big day for the offense.
Minus that turnover early Paul Man, this it would have
(01:44):
been obviously a completely different story.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I mean, it's nearly a typical Soldier field game, no
matter if it's if it's a Chad Hutchinson in two
thousand and three, is the quarterback somehow winning a game,
or if it's the bally hoot KALB Williams first overall
pick in the draft in the most recent game. And
what I mean is when you hear this, if I
tell you this, into the game, all right, Hey, Sam
(02:09):
Darnold's gonna throw for three point thirty his first three
hundred yard game as a member of the Vikings with
two touchdowns and zero picks. Oh yeah, Aaron Jones is
gonna have one hundred and six yards and a rushing touchdown,
Oh yeah. Jordan Addison eight catches, one sixty two and one.
Oh yeah. TJ Hawkinson seven catches, one fourteen and by
(02:29):
the way, Jonathan Grenard and Andrew Van Genkol combined for
three sacks. I mean that sounds like you beat somebody
by twenty.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Right, it does. But there's so much more that goes
on in between. And you know, for for the Vikings today,
it's it's special. Teams came up huge right until the end,
right the blockfield goal, the covery covering of the muff
punt which gave us a touchdown. We eventually got touchdown
on that drive. So just opportunities taken advantage of early
(02:56):
and then it's like the last minute and a half
of that game almost like they just took a breath, right,
and it's all you need to do. And the Bears
are good enough now, right in credit to them, because
they they've had enough not go their way this whole year,
with Hail Mary's and with last second field goal tries
to win games. They hung in there right, and they
kept battling all the way to the end. Caleb Williams
(03:17):
I think really provided them all the juice that they needed. Yeah,
toward the end of this football game. And an impressive
day by that young man. But how about Keenan Allen,
I mean, what does he have right against the Purple
because up until this game he's obviously been part of
the offense. But today, what a huge day for him.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah. Well, Keenan Allen has last two against the Vikings
today with the Bears nine eighty six and one last
year with the LA Chargers eighteen and two fifteen. So
Pasadena City College math indicates to me twenty seven receptions
like three hundred one yards and then a passing TD
had a passing TV last year, but nevertheless he didn't
get the money today. DJ Moore was kind of quiet early,
(03:59):
but if seven catches one hundred and six yards under touchdown.
But Parker Romo, man, I mean next week against the
Arizona Cardinals probably is this final game kicking for the
Minnesota Vikings. Will Reiker at the Alabama rookie with the quad.
He's eligible to return after that game. Parker Romo kicked
six times today. Okay, three extra points, three field goals.
(04:20):
He had the walk off winner six of six for
a guy who wasn't even on the team a month ago.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, you're right, and so that's another hat tip. I mean,
you know, you bring you bring in, you know, a
new left tackle when Darrisa goes down and oh yeah,
Cam Robinson, Robinson, he gets hurt. You make that move
and then you get the kicker hurt, and you bring
in a kicker and a long snapper and that battery
has been outstanding. So I mean, I got to give
a tip of cap to the pro personnel folks that
(04:46):
have to have those names ready because you never know
when you're gonna need them. They've brought in just a
couple of these pieces, but the pieces that they brought
in have all been essential right in the last few
games that this team has won. And that's how you
put together, you know, a nine and two kind of
a season.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Like I said at the end of the broadcast on
the KFA and Vikings radio network, today was all about three,
four five. The Vikings win three consecutive road games for
the first time in franchise history. They've won four consecutive
overall and they've won for a fifth consecutive time at
Soldier Field, and they've done so for the first time
in a quarter century. Here's what head coach Kevin O'Connell
(05:25):
had to say after the game.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Obviously, very very hard fought, tough win, giving up a
lead late like that. Give those guys credit for not
quitting and fighting to the very end. We got to
do a better job trying to close that thing out
in regulation. But you know, we've learned a lot about
our team in different ways throughout the season every result.
(05:48):
You know, over our nine wins and and our two losses,
we've learned a lot about our team.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
And I think we learned some new things today.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
And I was really proud of the way you're on
the road in the NFC North and momentum is not
just lost, it's completely lost. And there's very many groups
that might not respond that way, getting to stop and
then finding a way to overcome you know, some adversity,
some cause by ourselves, ourselves. But you know, Sam Darnold
was phenomenal through the air today making a lot of plays.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Jordan Addison and TJ. Hockinson, I just want to highlight because.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Both you know, I've been waiting for this Addison kind
of game, and it's the way the game kind of
played out today with kind of wanting to have him
majorly involved and then him going out and making a
lot of plays, and then TJ you know with the
seven for one fifteen. What an impact on our offense.
He is Aaron Jones over one hundred yards. And I
do want to highlight our offensive line, you know, against
(06:45):
a you know, a team defensively that has really prided
itself on, you know, being a physical group up front.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I just love the way we came off the ball.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
There were still some things we've got to clean up,
some negatives, some plays where their movement might have caused
some things for us, But across the board, that group
is really solid. You know, we had the two special
teams the block field goal and uh and the fumble
recovery on the part return. Didn't love the punt they
kick off return late in the game, and then and
(07:13):
then uh, you know, the on side kick. But football
is a it's a game where you've got to be
able to respond. It's never gonna be perfect and this
this group is a special group, and it's a road
winning the NFC North, and I'm really proud of our team.
Injury updates I have and Paced did get a hamstring. Tough,
tough play. I haven't got a chance to watch it
(07:33):
back yet, but it sounds like, you know, kind of
got rolled up a little bit, or however you describe it.
We'll do some evaluation on him tomorrow. Cam Robinson got
the foot I thought, Quest stepped in for him and
and really did a nice job. And then Jay Ward
got an elbow, and we'll be evaluated and tested tomorrow.
Sam obviously, you know, had a little his foot rolled
(07:55):
up on but returned after Nick Mullens converted a third
and long Kevin.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
What was the conversation like when Sam comes out there
and gets able to go back two plays later? Was
he pretty adamant about I want to get back into
what is possible?
Speaker 4 (08:07):
What was he like on the sideline?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah, in the middle of the drive. I actually did
not speak with him. He was getting evaluated. We got
that first down and then he was jogging back on
the field. Then I can actually have the most dialogue
with him, believe it or not, when he's back, you know,
on the field and using the headset. My favorite kind
of dialogue when when he can't return any communication besides
(08:29):
a head noud or a thumbs up. And I just
asked him, you know, a scale of one to ten
or you above a six right now? And he gave
me a thumbs up, and I said an eight, and
he gave me a thumbs up. And then I think
he said, stop asking. So we actually still you know,
on that keeper to Jordan that we hit for a
nice game, you know, still call the keeper with him
coming out to his to his left, and he made
(08:51):
a great throw with Samborne right in his face in overtime.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
I mean, he hadn't had that chance to play in
that kind of situation for you guys.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
But yeah, yeah, and to overcome I mean it seems
like it seemed like, you know, uh, the sack, you know, uh,
you know, I.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Was disappointing the first down sack kind of a drive starter.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
We end up canning the play, uh, and and not
kind of the look we wanted for the can and
it's like, you're one.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I kind of wanted to see how he would respond.
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Now we're second and long, we immediately get that first down,
convert a huge third down to Ja and you know
then it was like, Okay, we're rolling and then we
have a penalty that knocks us back. And it was
just the ability to overcome and his trust in me, uh,
you know, giving him and my trust in him. We're
(09:41):
going to do it via the pass and that drive
for the most part, try to make some runs in
there if we could.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
But I think that, you know, when your best is required.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
I had no hesitation of trying to attack what I
was seeing and try to get our guys going to
get down there and give Park a chance.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Starts in head were thrown. No, No, it's not like that.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
It's just once we once you have a second in
whatever it was, eighteen, whatever it was, and then you
know you're trying to get a run off and you
you know, you get a couple of plays in, get
earned first out, and then you're we just felt like
get back on track mode and then through those plays,
through those downs, it kind of if we would have
been second and you know, manageable for that whole.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Drive, you know, I would have been running the football.
That's kind of what I meant by that. Claud you
clarified you learn anything about Sam today? Yeah? I thought
he you know, across the board.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Just I don't show me somebody that had a better
game at the quarterback position. I mean maybe the guy
on the other sideline, to be honest, he played his
tail off.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
But you know, just that kind of.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Game, you know, in in under those circumstances on the
road in the NFC North, where at any point in time,
with the type of game he had had up until
that point, there could have been a moment where you know,
maybe maybe to you know, we gave up the lead,
maybe today is not our day. And they're just not
only just Sam, but our whole team. These guys are
a really, really tough group, and they're so totally connected
(11:05):
and just relentless, even when you know, we calls a
lot of the things like giving up an eleven point lead,
and just kind of the same way, it felt like
we were complimentary throughout a lot of the day. With
all three phases, it felt like we were kind of,
you know, trying to recapture just consistency across the board.
And credit Chicago, they did a lot of things, made
a lot of plays to and basically every play they
(11:27):
needed to make to come back from eleven points now,
and they did, and we had to then respond, and
we did so, getting out here with a win, hard
fought Credit to those guys for battling on the other sideline.
And like I said, I thought Caleb was fantastic today.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
To deal with him twice a year.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, you know, I told him after the game, you know,
because we had spent some time together pre draft, and
really I've known Caleb for a long time and I
think the world of him. He's just continues to get
better and better. And I you know, you can see
it when he starts creating off schedule and that change
of direction and athleticism, and we had him dead to
(12:05):
rights a couple of times and he gets out and
makes huge plays.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Uh, it's gonna be a challenge.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
We're gonna have to play as consistently as possible and
disciplined as possible against him as he continues to grow.
And you know, I look forward to the challenge of
competing against him because he's gonna be a really good
player waiting one of that.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Some day like this.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
What do you feel like it was about today that
allowed him to have as.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Much success as he had.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah, there's a lot that goes into it, Alec of
how we put together of the game plan. It wasn't
like it was a game where we're like, Okay, it's
gonna be all Jordan and tj. That's not how it works.
You know, Justin Jefferson's a major part of our team.
It just a lot of times how the coverage dictated,
you know, it was it was going to be an
example where Jordan had some opportunities. We're able to get
over the top of their quarters coverage for the you
(12:52):
know what was a pretty phenomenal catch and then he
was able to get over the top of you know,
we're calling a similar play to what we call if
you guys remember against the Colts, I believe when we
threw the interception to Justin on the dagger, and if
you go back and look at that play, it was
a pretty similar look. And you know, we'd had some
dialogue about that if they wanted to play tight down
(13:14):
into the boundary right there, Sam be ready and he
threw it. I mean, that was one of the prettier
throws I've seen, considering like when you're getting to that throw,
Jordan understanding to take it a little bit higher than
maybe normally over the top of the coverage, just a phenomenal,
phenomenal play to get us going. We didn't ultimately capitalize
on it, had a negative run with a little bit
(13:34):
of miscommunication on the movement up front, and then ultimately
had to settle for three. So by far from perfect offensively,
but I was happy with the way we were able
to run it and then get some explosive via the pass,
especially when the game was Onlineide kick.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
I just you know, was my view was probably too good, Kevin.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
I'm going to see that for many many sleepless nights
here moving forward in front of me, and it was.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
It was a really good kick. Obviously it hit one
of our guys.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
You know, you're expecting on that roller kind of play,
UH to try to you know, have that front line
see if they can go up and make contact and
allow the guys.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
To to get the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
But we're gonna have to take a look at that
because you know, it's not a high percentage play. So
when you give one up in a critical moment like that,
followed right up by you know, a big old dagger
hit uh to get him in field goal range.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
I got to do a better job when you're field goal.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Did you see anything out to take this week from
the end of the game block last week.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Chicago had with Green Bay that allows you to get
to that one.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I would have to see it. I know, we we
you know, we big j T. Jerry Tillery got his
hand on it. I don't you know. We took a
look at that play obviously, just based upon the rule
and understanding that the rule came back that it was
you know, had it been called a penalty last week,
maybe it would have stayed a penalty had it not
like it wasn't it wasn't a penalty, So we just,
(14:58):
you know, we didn't scheme anything up off of that.
We've been close a few times and you know, hoping
to get a couple of those low trajectory kicks from
a little further out and take advantage of it. I
think it's probably just simple as that. So credit JT
for that one.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
Sam's toughness, I mean, did you know he he was
this tough before you guys.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Got with them this year?
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, I think I you know, I think I've shared
this before, but one of the moments years and years.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Ago Cotton Bowl against Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
It sounds crazy, but I remember watching that game with
Chase young and Bosa basically hitting him on every single play,
had a ton of drop back attempts and tried.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
To will his team.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
They didn't end up winning the game, but I learned
everything I needed to know then about his toughness and
his makeup to be willing to stare down some some
real pressure every single snap you dropped back. So I
think he's a mentally tough guy. I think he's a
physically tough guy. I think he's confident in the guys
around him, and I think he's confident in our system.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
And I think when you know, he just.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Continues to play quarterback at a high level, I think
we're a tough team. I really do, because and playing
quarterback at a high level might just be simply feet, eyes,
rhythm and letting, letting the letting kind of the play,
dictating the coverage and putting the ball in play. He's
done a really nice job two weeks in a row
of that and outside of you know, outside of the
you know, the toss that got pinned on him against Tennessee, Uh,
(16:28):
you know, he's protected the football for the most part
and also been explosive. So it's been a real, real
positive two weeks for Sam when.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
You're second and seventeen, they're an overtime backed up after
the sack. How much does him just getting that completion
on second down change the whole complexion of the drive
to be able to keep going after it there?
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Yeah, and I think, you know, I think having TJ Hockinson,
you know, to work the middle of the field for
some big, big catches. It's it's what the tremendous value
TJ has, especially on a D and D like that,
where you know you might be able to try to
take away you know, eighteen and make sure you got
coverage over the top and make sure you're staying, you know,
(17:06):
in kind of a you know, a safe mode to
maybe give up a completion of Jordan or one of
our receivers. But TJ in there on those linebackers, and
that was a critical, critical catch. You know, I think
Edwards was right there at the catch point, kind of
little crease right.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
There in the middle of the defense.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
And you know that's a physical in between the hashes
type of toughness that TJ's shown time and time again.
And then hit the big one obviously over the top
of the coverage with justin taking a lot of coverage
with him as he you know, kind of crossed midfield
right there.
Speaker 6 (17:36):
I like about the run game today, especially not having
jos Oliver.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Yeah, not having Josh and then losing Cam. You know,
we we leaned a little bit more on the twenty
one grouping and had some success in that. You know,
I do want to I do want to highlight c J.
Ham lost his grandfather this morning, actually local here in Chicago.
He you know, by the grace of God, got to
spend basically a bunch of time with him last night,
(18:02):
you know, in his final moments.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
And then CJ.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
You know, shows up today and and plays a lot
of snaps. We really leaned in on that twenty one grouping,
and he's one of our captains and and uh, you know,
he knows that he's got a locker room full of
brothers that'll have his back right now. But he was
a huge part physicality in the run game. And I
still just one more time, when to highlight the way
we came off the ball. It looked like we were
(18:26):
coming off the rock the way that we need to.
And that's against the team that has kind of majored
in a lot of movement against US, and and what
I mean by that is, you know, nobody's a sitting
target on that D line. They're constantly moving and stemming
and post snap cause and trying to stir it up
so that you can't ever get the type of movement
that we got. And I thought our guys did a
(18:46):
great job being prepared and then still playing North South
in the run game, which was which was huge. And
I thought Aaron was, you know, really really good. You know,
obviously outside of the early the early fumble.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, you know, the the Questionerry coming in and having
to play a majority of the game, Kamu Gruge Hill,
Dallas Turner. They played more than they normally played because
Ivan Pace Junior went down a couple of things to
overcome for the Minnesota Vikings. But still, I mean, with
all due respect, after Parker Romo hit his penultimate field goal,
they were about a ninety six percent winner. Yeah, and
(19:19):
then everything went haywire. And that's granted from nine to two.
That's going to be fairly part of the conversation moving
forward into the Arizona Gain.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
No, yeah, no question about it. And you know, you
look at the way special teams has changed, you know,
in this league, and it's become I guess, less flashy
but maybe but not less important. Yeah, and we and
we saw, you know what I'm saying, we saw that today.
It's too bad as well because the special teams units
going in, you know again covering the muff punt for
(19:49):
the touchdown, drive the blocked the blocked field goal. I meant, Chillary,
I forgot about that. That's ten points right there, right,
that our special teams was able to net us and
then right you know, just right at the end, making
a few critical mistakes and then you know, Dallas Turner
comes up with, like you said, the biggest tackle of
his career. There was no question about that. If he
(20:11):
misses that, If he misses that tackle, it's a touchdowns, right.
They scored even score more quickly. So you know, credit
the Vikings though, with hanging in there, Paul, I mean
when adversity hit, when things didn't go right, they still
hung in there. And I do love the fact that
the offense, really I think they didn't die in the
second half. We've seen a number of games now where
(20:32):
they've come out fire and early and then just just
slow down in that second half and just don't have
that sputter. That's why the second half rushing touchdown stood
out in my mind because I couldn't remember the last
time we ran for a touchdown in the.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Second game by a running back. Geez, maybe because it
was twenty seven games. How about that twenty seven game?
Since we had a rushing touchdown by it not well
by a running back, yeah, you know. And to have
Aaron Jones do that that, you know, that's huge. I
thought the running game was outstanding all day. I think
we left we left some meat on the bone, I
think in the running game, but there was no reason
(21:07):
or not or to quit throwing Donald. He made some
good decisions. The thing is, Paul, when he did make
a couple of mistakes, he did hold onto the football,
he didn't turn it over right, he didn't make any
bad throws, and he didn't fumble it.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
So it's a small step, but I think it's a
step in the right direction. And with this offense and
with this defense, this team, if we're not giving the
ball away, we're going to be in it, right, We're
gonna be We're gonna it's gonna be a one score game.
So it's so important that we do that and Today's
a perfect example.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Yes, off a game at Tennessee, which was Sam Donald's
best game as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, well
this is his newest best game. He went for three
hundred and thirty passing yards, his first game throwing for
more than three hundred yards with the Vikings. His yards
per attempt was like nine point seven. It was right
under ten thirty four attempts, three hundred and thirty passing
(21:59):
yards and to Sam, Darnold had this to say following
an overtime victory thirty to twenty seven by the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
You know, first and foremost, what are resilient win you know,
from everyone in that locker room. Just super proud of
those guys.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
You know.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
As an offense, I said it to Laura after the game,
but I feel like, you know, we could have been
a lot better in certain situations, you know, and uh,
you know, just the O line. I think to like
the way that they lean on the game, uh, and
that or the way that they leaned on that defensive
line in the second half, you know, in the linebackers,
(22:36):
you know, I thought was incredible. And speaking of those guys,
I want to give a ton of credit to Chicago.
I feel like they played a really good game. You know,
their scheme, their players, everything that they do is super tough.
And you know, we were able to come out, like
I said, just a resilient effort by everyone and very
proud of that one.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
S Sam in overtime, what's your mindset there?
Speaker 3 (22:59):
I mean, the come was obviously very very good withs
your mindset when you come on the field knowing the
touchdown or any score wins, it.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
Just execute, you know, It's as simple as that, Just
one play at a time. That's what I think. I
tell the guys that every single time in the huddle,
But that's my mindset every single time I'm out there
on the field, especially in that situation. You know you're
expecting to, you know, obviously recover the on side kick
and just take some knees. So your mindset, you got
(23:26):
to get get ready to to go back out there
and execute at a high level. And I feel like
our offense did a really good job of that obviously,
and over time, and when.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
You came off with the foot injury there, how long
did it take you to get to the point where
you said, I'm good enough to go.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Back in Yeah, you know, I just had to walk
it off a little bit. You know, that was pretty
much it, you know, just to be able to you know,
for Nick to be able to come in, you know,
I hate doing that to him, but just for him
to be able to come in and execute at such
a high level, obviously in London and today, just an
(23:59):
incredible job by him, and it, you know, it shows
kind of the preparation that you know that he kind
of exemplifies every single week.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Did you know coming off that you were going to
be able to go back in in short order? As
you were.
Speaker 6 (24:15):
Walking off the field, I felt, you know, wasn't exactly sure,
to be honest with you, but as I was on
the sideline, it kind of, you know, I was I
felt like I was all right and I was able
to go out there and kind of walk it off
a little bit. So I felt good. You know, once
I got back on the field. What happened in overtime
with the helmet switch, the communication, I just went out.
(24:38):
I'm not sure exactly what happened, said what'd you.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Think of me?
Speaker 6 (24:42):
Just really cases that Jordan Pattison made today for pretty guys. Yeah,
you know, Jay obviously had a huge game. You know,
his ability to just stay ready, stay prepared whenever his
numbers called TJ the same thing. I felt TJ had
a really good game today, Jets. You know, obviously, just
his ability when he's out there, he gets guys open.
(25:04):
You know, the defense is so locked into him at
certain points in the game, whether it's you know, second
and long, third down, even first down at times. So
his ability to just you know, continue to stay with
it and continue to show that that resiliency even you know,
throughout the game, you know when he's not you know,
getting touches, and you know, I feel like, you know,
(25:27):
just our entire offense, I feel like has has been
doing a really good job of that this year, and uh,
we'll just continue to stay resilient and find a way
to win.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
The past two weeks. What's been the common thread for
you in terms of why he perform so well.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
I think it's kind of what I told you after,
you know, just my my thought process in overtime, just
going out there, executing, taking it one play at a time.
I really do think it's as simple as that and
just not trying to do too much. You know, if
if I feel like, you know, a play, I gotta
scramble out of the pocket and some you know it's
not there, just throw it away, or you know if
sometimes if I need to take a sack, you know,
(26:01):
I'm willing to do that. But yeah, just just continue
to play within within the system, within the game, and
and you know we'll continue to to you know, play
solid as an offense. Talk much about it when t
J came back, but in your mind, like does it
take a few games to just like get locked in
with somebody that you haven't played with and was this
(26:22):
that game or was that just how the game went,
or yeah, I think you nailed it. I think, you know,
whenever you know someone comes back, I felt like, you know,
there were a few times, you know, when he got
back obviously in Jacksonville, where reconnected on some some good
routes and some good concepts, and then you know, there's
just some things that you got to continue to feel
out as the season goes, and we'll continue to grow from.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
That as you come big back in after a couple
of plays out, Like, does any party worry that things
could give you can make it worse.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
I don't know, no, not at all. That's not uh
That's not in the thought process at all. You know,
I'm just, like I said, man, just to be able
to for Nick first of all, to be able to
go in there and execute at a high level, and
then for me to go back in there. You know,
I'm just trying to do my job. That's it.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
Say, when you guys are second and seventeen there and
overtime and you're backed up at that completion on second down,
how much does that just change the manner of that
drive from let's just get yards and get out of
our own ends onto we can go make something of this.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Yeah, that's kind of the mindset, you know, when you're
just you know, in a first and long or a
second long, you just want a completion. You just want
to get you know, get the guys going forward, and
you know, obviously if a SHOT's there to take it,
we'll we'll take it for sure. But yeah, you know
that's the mindset, is just getting a completion.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Hey, what's your impression at Kayleb Williams.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
Did you guys get much of a chance to talk
after the game or anything.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
I just told him to keep doing what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Man.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
I feel like he's playing really good football, you know,
just the way that you know, he's confidently just ripping
the ball. It's it's impressive, man, when he cuts it loose.
I was watching, you know, the big screen in the stadium,
and I felt like, sometimes, you know, the camera can
necessarily catch up with the football, you know. I feel
like he's just got such an ability to just rip
(28:08):
the ball in there. And uh, obviously when he gets
outside the pocket, when he's able to run and make plays,
he's very dangerous that way as well.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
All right.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
In closing, Jordan Addison eight catches, one hundred and sixty
two yards and a touchdown. Well done. Eight catches on
nine targets.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Hawkinson had one catch for five yards at halftime. He
finished with seven receptions and one hundred and fourteen yards.
And big boy made some big catches and overtime in
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah, he did. He came up huge today and that's
you know, so happy to see him back as he's
just getting himself into this season. It's only his third
game back, so he's just kind of getting his legs
underneath him, you know. So you know, Paul, you you
you mentioned all these things and with this team, but
they stuck together, they hung in there, and when they
(28:55):
absolutely had to be at their best, you know, they
really were. And I was very impressed with both how
the offense and defense played in that overtime period, all
that momentum that was going Chicago's way, just to I mean,
just to get this thing to overtime, right, I mean,
it's such so improbable, but yet you know, three and out,
I mean with the defense right away, get them the punt,
(29:17):
and then we marched the ball down and kick the
game winning field goals. So hats off to them and
hats off to you.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
That was a great job on the microphone today, My
man had a lot of fun and for Pete Bursa,
John Paul Allen, the Minnesota Vikings, in very dramatic fashion,
beat the Chicago Bears in overtime thirty to twenty seven.
This is the Vikings postgame report. It's an Eric Davidson production,
and we had good news today from the windy city
of Chicago.
