Speaker 1 (00:13):
Alrighty.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
The Minnesota Vikings have lost two consecutive games. They just
lost to the La Rams thirty to twenty in controversial fashion.
Two in that the Rams got a safety right at
the end of the game Byron Young grabs Sam Darnold
and threw him down, but he did so by the
face mask, and it was missed by Trey Blake's crew.
(00:35):
But that really does not that really does not do
the totality of the game justice. There were a lot
of other things that happened. The Rams go to three
and four, the Vikings go to five and two. The
Vikings scored fourteen points right out of the game, a
couple of touchdown passes, one to Oliver the other de
Trent Sherfield Senior fourteen fourteen at halftime. What slowed down
(00:59):
and how did the Rams win?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Pete Bursich, Well, you know, and you know that's the
interesting point is, you know, the we had the ball first,
we scored, and the Rams answered, We scored again, the
Rams answered again, and you know, the defense settled down
a little bit, we moved some guys around, and then
our offense just never got the ball back in, you know,
(01:20):
never got the ball back in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I'm not blaming the offense.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I mean you you gave up two hundred and seventy
nine yards and a one twenty four and a half
rating to Matthew Stafford. Four touchdowns. Yeah, you got Pooka
Nakula back and Cooper Cup. But at the same time,
the you know, the pass interference penalties unnecessary and just
(01:44):
too many yards on the ground. We gave up eighty
seven yards on the ground in the first half. So
their run game was just way too effective early and
when Stafford did drop back to pass, he was unharrassed.
We did we I don't think we got a sack
today now that I think about it. Were leading the
league in sacks of twenty three going into this game,
(02:04):
and you got zero against an offensive line that had
two rookies.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Wow, s a point.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
It's it's kind of a it's a head scratcher in
that respect to say what happened to us defensively where
we just no longer could get pressure on the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Stafford threw four touchdowns. He came into the game with
three passing touchdowns, and he threw four in this game alone.
Pete mentioned the returns of Pooka Nakua and Cooper Cup
a couple of game changers, I mean, really really good receivers,
and they both played really well this game. Cooper Cup
was the Super Bowl fifty six MVP. And how about this.
(02:39):
Nikua and Cup were targeted seventeen times. All other Rams
receivers combined were targeted seventeen times. Nikua finished with one
hundred and six yards. Cooper Cup scored a touchdown. DeMarcus
Robinson had two catches and two touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
The one right, yeah, that's the one right, yeah, I
mean that's you know, on both of those. On his
first touchdown on Shack Griffin, it was just a you know,
well thrown ball, great catch in the fade and we
got to get ourselves in position on a play like that.
In the second one, it was a double move on
Harrison Smith. He ran a post and then ran the
corner and you know, and then so Stafford had plenty
(03:21):
of time to hang in the pocket to throw it. So,
you know, again, an offense, like you said, Paul, that
threw three touchdowns, two to wide receivers.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
They're they're wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Caught two touchdowns coming into this game all season. Wow,
and today they caught three three yep, right, two and
and and only one of them went to the either
Nakua or Cooper Cup.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, Cooper Cup had one.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Uh. The running back Hyron Williams had the other, which
means he has scored in ten consecutive games, which ties
a RAMS record for touchdowns in consecutive games. Before we
hear from, Kevin O'Connell helped me with this. You and
Ben Leeber on the Vikings radio network talked a lot
about the importance of the Vikings running the ball well
(04:09):
this game, and they came out running it with Aaron
Jones at about five yards a clip, but granted they
were trailing a fair amount. In the second half, we
only ran for sixty four yards.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, that's that's another disappointment, you know, going into it,
and Aaron Jones was in there for a vast majority
of the game, but we just never had the opportunity
to establish the run. We really didn't. We were, you know,
kind of playing catchup. And then the penalties here, right,
I mean every one of our drives.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
We had nine penalties.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
We gave a lot of first downs on defense with penalties, Paul,
But yeah, we kept shooting ourselves in the feet with
sacks and or penalties.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Those are drive killers when you run the football.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
The only thing that can go bad as a holding penalty,
but not a lot of balance on offense in that respect.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Kevin O'Connell, head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, was the
off defensive coordinator for the LA Rams when they won
Super Bowl fifty six after the twenty twenty one season,
and his boss, head coach, Sean McVay, the youngest coach
of the year back in twenty seventeen at age thirty one.
Sean McVay, with the victory tonight, became the winning this
(05:18):
coach in the history of Rams football, passing the legendary
John Robinson with his eightieth victory. And Kevin O'Connell has
a lot of adoration for Sean McVay.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
It goes both ways.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
And speaking of KOC, here's what he had to say
following the game.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Disappointed.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
I thought, you know, offensively, I thought we got off
to a good start in the game and you know,
had some self inflicted once again, that kind of slowed.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
The momentum there.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
It's a good offense we're playing, they got healthy and
we're pretty explosive against us, and we just got to
find a way as a team across.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
The board to play better. You know, I'm not gonna,
you know, make any kind of.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
Excuses about the short week, about penalties or anything like that.
We'll get back to work. We're five and two football
team with a lot of football.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Out in front of us.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
But if we take for granted that we need to work,
we need to improve, we need to get back to
doing some of the things that helped us get to
this point five and two before these last two games,
and we will do that.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I have a lot of trust and confidence in my.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Coaching staff and a ton of confidence that we've got
the right guys in that locker room, both talent and
the makeup of our football team. Christian Dearsaw did sustain
a left knee injury. I don't have an update for
you at this time, but we'll continue that evaluation here
and then on into tomorrow and try to confirm what
(06:44):
that is. Keeping keeping our fingers crossed that we get
some positive news. But other than that, that's the only
injury update for you guys.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
What did you think of the non call on the
parent face mask therapy?
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Yeah, you know, it looked like you got a pretty
good amount of face mask there. Not going to get
into you know, the call or no call and all
that stuff. It's just I told our team officiating and
all that stuff. For us to talk about that, for
us to seek comfort in that is not how we're
going to respond to this.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
It's just not going to happen. And I'm gonna do
the same thing right now.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I really don't have a comment on whether it was
it looked like you got a piece of the face mask,
but they didn't think so, so they didn't throw the flag.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
What did you think of?
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Just maybe why the defensichs amos trouble?
Speaker 5 (07:35):
You know, I think we were close on some plays
in the passing game, but when you're playing against that
quarterback and you know, those receivers getting healthy and getting
out there and making some plays for him, I just
think it comes down to can we get enough Russian
coverage working together to maybe not give a quarterback like
that a couple extra clicks and then we got to
(07:55):
tighten up and try to get off the field. I
thought some of those you know, third plays where drives
were extended, not necessarily by conversions, but I thought those
were critical plays because we you know, did some good
things defensively in those moments, and then off of those
earned first downs there seemed to be some drives sustained there.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
Just had good numbers in the last two games. Skill
with losses, how do you evaluate him?
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah, I thought Sam played well.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
We're continuing to grow as an offense with Sam playing quarterback.
I think he was really sharp throwing the football. There
were some nice plays between him and Justin. Just didn't
do enough. I thought in really a couple of ways.
You know, you'd like to get seven when you're down
in the red zone. Liked our early execution just overall.
(08:42):
I think, I mean even midway through the you know,
third quarter or so, we really only had maybe four
or five third down six third downs on the whole
game because we're pretty efficient on first and second. First
and second, got some early touchdowns. The field goals aren't enough,
especially in a game like that versus an offense like that,
So we've got to continue to find ways to just
(09:02):
consistently get all eleven guys on the offense doing their job.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
That's out of the huddle. That's how we articulate the plays.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
That's how we're you know, breaking the huddle with a
total command of the system.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
And luckily we'll get.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Some extra practice work and you know, be ready to
go for the Colts game. Good team coming in, would
be good to be back at home. But as far
as Sam Darnold continues to play at a really high level,
we'll keep you know, coaching up, not only Sam but
everybody around them in that huddle, and we'll get better
and better.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
After the early success running the ball, what did you
think happened with the rest of it.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
Yeah, you know, I you know, I felt like, you know,
they started to you know, they really started to you know,
you know, give us, give us some problems along the
line of scrimmage.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
As far as you.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Know, could we could we get a couple and maybe
pop one or two longer ones that kind of resets
the whole day. They were doing a lot of things
coverage wise, to you know, try to keep a roof
on on the coverage to not let the big plays
happened where Sam was able to kind of check the
ball down to some guys put the ball in play.
We got the screen game going a little bit in
the second half, and then we just didn't sustain enough,
(10:11):
and we weren't on the field enough.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
I mean fifty plays again.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
You know, when it's a game like this and their
offense is making some plays and sustaining drives and kind
of eating a lot of clock, it can feel like
an awfully short game to you as an offense when
you're either scoring or going backwards, either self inflicted or sacks.
So we've got to just try to find a way
to mitigate that. Run the ball a little bit more
efficiently two nine to carry whatever it was, it is
(10:37):
not going to get it done for us with an
intent on running the football and building our offense around that,
and we.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Got to do a better job at it.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
You referenced, Matthew, have a few extra clicks, like the
way you've pressure quarterbacks most of the season.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Why do you think today tonight there just wasn't. Yeah,
I don't know as of right now.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Sometime you know, we're like I said, short weeks, got
nothing to do with it, whatever the whatever the reasoning is,
we'll take a good hard look at this tape and
use this mini buy, you know, over the weekend to
make sure we're ready to allow these guys to you know, refresh, recharge,
and and that goes for us as coaches as well
as in regards to our schemes, making sure that we
(11:18):
can get the momentum back and just dictate a little
bit more. I thought, you know, didn't see enough of
it really outside of those early drives offensively when we
were running the ball and kind of marrying it up
pretty nicely, and then defensively just trying to get off
the field. You know, early in drives it might have
been those penalties, but they made some plays as well
(11:38):
as they were able to get going.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
So we've got to apply pressure.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
We've got to marry up the rush and the coverage
working together, try to keep people in longer yardage situations
and get off the field.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
And then offensively, we've got to sustain.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
More both in the run game and then being able
to put the ball in the end zone when we
get down there.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Like just how frustrating with that stretch.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Yeah, I think, you know, when we were kind of
going score for score there early, you know, the noise
level did ramp up a little bit more even then
maybe the start of the game, and there was some
you know, quarterback center kind of just overall just wasn't
smooth enough.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Either we need to get on the silent.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
Cadence and be able to react in the moment and
execute or we or we need to you know, be
able to execute the cadences that we have. I didn't
like seeing. That didn't like seeing. Just overall, as as
we kind of are in a dog fight again in
a game like this, do not want to have things
that we are doing to cause us to not be
(12:38):
able to capture the momentum just with our execution. Because
when the execution, uh, you know, whistle to whistle happens,
you know we're we're a pretty darn good offense. We
just have to do a little bit more and make
a few more clean you know, clean play calls, clean execution,
get lined up, know what to do and go do it.
And once again, the short weeks not an excuse. Our
guys were ready to go, but clearly we've got to
(13:00):
take a look at what our preparation was like and
make sure that when we do have more time next week,
we're doing the things to prepare this football team to
be a little bit better. Offensively, seem like the Rams
were having some successful in the middle of the field,
kind of like the Lions down Sunday, if you think
winn into that part of over.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
They're able to hit some things there.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
You know, they're just I know we were you know,
we were close on a few, but honestly, Ben I'd
go back and you know, I know Flow and his
guys will take a take a look at it and
see how we can adjust, see how we can tighten
up a little bit and possibly make those plays a
little bit more difficult, especially.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
In the middle of the field.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
They hit some you know that last you know, third
down in the four minute we're hoping to get you know,
maybe a little bit better field position, a little bit
more time left, kind of using the timeouts there, and
Matthew Stafford and Cooper Cup made a play, you know,
looked like we might have a chance to even intercept
that ball and Coop comes down with it.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
How much do you think Andrew to deris effected, would
you do? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I think it's you know, they've got some good young
rushers and we were trying to do the best we
could to make sure we're cognizant of that with the
players we're calling maybe limiting the menu a little bit
to try to get some help over there on the
on the left side, and and uh, you know, made.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
A few plays.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
I thought, Quest came in and battled, We'll take a
look at you know, what it's gonna look like with
CD and and and ultimately put together a good plan
regardless of who's out there. I've got a lot of
confidence in our guys. But you lose a guy like
CD in the middle of the game, game plans kind
of rolling a little bit outside of the penalties at
that point, and you know, we we felt it, but
(14:34):
once again, no excuse, next man up, and we got
a roll.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
What do you what the players would do.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
If it's going to buy well, I think, you know,
between last Sunday and and and tonight, there's you know,
there's gonna be some emotional, uh kind of toll there.
Just I know they have a ton of belief in
themselves and our team and what they have built this year.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
So I really challenged those guys. We got to you know,
we got to get healthy.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
We'll have uh, you know, a couple of guys potentially
coming back to our team that we haven't had yet.
We've got some guys that have had some knicks and
and bruises and things that work through it on a
short week and they battled. So now we get you know,
the benefit of of of some time, but we've got
to use it the right way. We've got to make
sure we're doing everything we can collectively as an organization
(15:18):
to make sure we're moving forward positive and just try
to get a win next week against the cold.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Team at US Bank Stadium. He got hurt.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Were you just looking to see if you could pop
something before deciding whether to go into Yeah, he you know,
Sean still had the one time out left.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
We end up backed up in that situation.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
They had dime defense on the field, so you know,
thought we could maybe pop a run. Don't know if
we were necessarily targeted right versus that group out there,
which I think if we if we are, maybe that
ball's got a chance to you know, if we get
if we get off and rolling with the timeouts we
had left at the time, get get that first first down,
then you know there's a chance to maybe try to
(15:55):
dial some stuff up and not give them any chance
of doubling us up there with them starting out the
second half. So kind of once that play happened and
we lose CD and you're thinking about, you know, the
ninety five plus yards you got to go. Thought it
was best at that point just to take it in,
regroup and try to come out and move the ball
in the second half.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
If you could have if it was a couple of
yards more like at the five or six, get the
kneel down than possible there, or just going to have
that whether it yeah, with twenty six seconds.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Uh yeah, I mean with it.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
We did have timeouts left, so it's it's clearly possible,
and just calling a you know, a run play we
called several other times in the game. You're just kind
of seeing if you can get the drive, you know,
see if we pop a run.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
There they're in a.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
Light body grouping with sixty b's on the field, including
one of them playing linebacker, just calling a standard run
and just trying to see if we can pop one
and then maybe take the time out reset, try to
get a couple chunks.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
We got a kicker that can hit it from.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
A long way away, and uh, you know, not at
the expense of giving momentum back in the moment to
to the Rams with their one time out left, and
then ultimately, uh, you know, we lose CD and and
and took it on in From there, coach came up.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
From San Diego to cover your return of Southern California.
Speaker 7 (17:14):
Got to talk to some Sangue state coaches for the teammates.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
And the worst.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
Yeah, and their description of who you are.
Speaker 6 (17:21):
As a person, Dane to go and gaining to the president.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
But what do you I guess what would you give credit.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
To that consistency of character turning forward or and then
how would that gonna help you and be able to
move forward for these two games?
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (17:35):
I think you know, first and foremost, I'm incredibly blessed
to have the family that I do, my mom and dad.
You know, I have always been uh you know, d
demanding of me being the way I am because that's
who they are, and I had an incredible example of that.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Here's what I would say.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
You know, we've as a football team had a lot
of success this year, and then you know, it's been
a tough four days for us. It will not define us.
It will not you know, it will not be the
story of.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
This season because we hold the pen and what are
we gonna do with it? Are we gonna work?
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Am I going to be the same consistent guy, just
pushing this team even more, demanding the discipline to be
our difference moving forward. And I know I got the
right team in there, I got the right coaches, incredibly
fortunate to have the group that I do. It did
not go our way tonight, which is incredibly unfortunate, you know,
considering tough loss on Sunday and then come right back
(18:29):
and you know, your season looks a little different, and
fully expecting a lot of the folks that weren't really
expecting us to do a whole lot this year from
the time we reported a training camp till we won
a few games, fully expecting, And the narratives and all
those things mean absolutely nothing, because they never did.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
It's about work.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
It's about this team coming together, and this coaching staff
and players. Tightest group I've ever been around, most tight
knit group I've ever been around.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
I love our team.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
I love everything about to be the head coach of
this team every day, and I've got to make sure
I'm pushing us to reach our truest potential as a
team this year, because I believe that is a special thing,
and I believe that now more than ever.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
All Right, that's Kevin O'Connell. The Vikings next play a
week from Sunday at home against the Indianapolis Colts, and
that game was flex to a night game. It is
Sunday Night Football, and we'll feature at quarterback for the
Minnesota Vikings. Of course, Sam, Darnald and Donald finished the game.
Sam finished the game eighteen of twenty five, two hundred
(19:31):
and forty yards, two touchdowns, a passer rating of one
twenty eight eight. What do you think of the Southern
California native tonight?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yeah, you know, I thought he thought he did a
good job. I mean, you got got rid of the
football a couple of times. I mean you go back
and you look at this and the and the throw
that was incomplete to Naylor that if that would have
been complete, that that's a touch.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Deckt the seven yard line jail and dropped.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It and that's a that's a that's a touchdown drive.
So that changes a game completely there. If we come up,
if we come up with the sack by Harrison Phillips
and you know in Grenard on the touchdown throw, I
mean you have Matthew Stafford out there looking like Aaron
Rodgers in his prime. Yeah, ducking and weaving and dodging
AND's keeping on his feet. I mean, wait, call so
(20:17):
so many, so many things just not going our way man,
And and that's that A lot of it's self inflicted still,
And you know, I thought maybe we would you learned
that lesson after the Detroit game, but apparently it's it's
kind of sticking with us. I think losing Blake Cashman
is a bigger deal than any of us thought, yeap,
just because of where the other guys that have had
(20:39):
to move around at different positions to make up for that.
So hopefully we'll get Cashman back by the time we
play Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
And as Kevin O'Connell referenced, Christian Darisaw also left the
game right in front of halftime. David Quessenberry had to
fill in for him. Sam Darnold is a Southern California native.
He's from San Clemente, which is about ninety minutes out
of where we are at so far. And Engle would
and after the game, Sam Darnold had this to say,
(21:06):
your parent.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
Face mask on you, Uh, what it feel like? We're
you sure you're getting a penalty? What's what are your
thoughts there?
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (21:13):
You know, I'll just I'll just start off by saying,
you know, obviously just played a good team you know
in l A, and give them a lot of credit
for the way they came out and played tonight. I thought,
you know, as an offense, just you know, got to
continue to be better, you know, operationally with those things
and got to just be more consistent. And uh, you know,
(21:34):
we we put together really good drives and then you know,
we just gotta you know, we're capable of doing that
every single time, and we just got to continue to
be more consistent that way throughout the football game. We
had to answer your question, you know, the face mask
or you know, it is what it is. You know,
(21:57):
it's uh, you know, I thought we could have done
a lot to not put ourselves in the situation that
we were in, you know, the penalty before that. So
you know, we just got to continue to play better
and not put ourselves in that situation to begin with.
Speaker 6 (22:13):
You were you and the offense were very hot the
first couple of drives. What was working for you guys?
Speaker 7 (22:19):
Yeah, you know, I just thought the tempo was really good,
we were executing, and I was getting the ball out,
you know, just uh yeah, We're just doing all the
little things right, all the details right.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
Kevin did say that he thought as the offense slowed
down a little bit, there were some problems either cadence
or crowd noise. Can you go through any did you
what did you think was going on there?
Speaker 7 (22:40):
For Yeah, you know, we were kind of just switching
back and forth between silent and using the cadence. But
you know that's something that you know, we just got
to continue to you know too. You know, that's just
kind of goes in the bucket of of the pre snaps.
Just we got to continue to work on those things
in p and you know, figure out the details that way.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
And when you lose someone.
Speaker 7 (23:05):
Like Christian at left time, how does that affect you
guys offensively? Yeah, obviously Christian is a really good player,
you know, and you know, but I would say it's
the same thing, you know, when you know Aaron went
out a couple couple of games ago, you know too,
you know, for the next guy to be able to
come in and do a great job. You know, that's
(23:26):
what we always count on and we always expect the
next guy to step up and do.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
A great job.
Speaker 7 (23:31):
And you know, very I'm very confident in DQ to
be able to do that.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
There's obviously frustration at the end. I saw Justin throw
his help at about thirty yards. But it seems like
Kevin and you are trying to emphasize details and positives
right now. Is it that kind of the vibe in
the locker room right now?
Speaker 7 (23:51):
Yeah, I think at the end of the day, like
you know, we're you know, I feel like we just
got to you know, do the little things right and
you know, hash out the details. And I feel like
if we do that, we're gonna be a really good
offense and a really good team. And or I know
we're gonna be a really good offense and a really
good team. And so yeah, it's just it's little things
(24:13):
that we can control. So we're just gonna, you know,
look ourselves in the mirror, watch the tape, and get
better from it.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Obviously not the results you want.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
But what was it like just being back in Los
Angeles and playing football.
Speaker 7 (24:25):
Yeah, it's always it's always great to come back here,
you know, on a short week. Great to you know,
be able to see family. After this, I'm gonna go
hang out with them for a little bit. But yeah,
obviously not the result we wanted, but it's always great
to see family. So that could just be a little
bit to your relationship with coach and just how you
(24:47):
feel like that chemistry lights like this.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Fire too set.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
Yeah, you know, I think you know, I've I have
great chemistry with Ko obviously with with all the coaches.
You know, all the players in that locker room are
great dudes first and foremost really good players as well.
So like I said, man, we have a really good team.
We just kind of continue to do the little things
right and if we do that, we'll be all right.
This MANI by be is sort of reset for you
(25:13):
guys and just go on the next weekend.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Against the Colts.
Speaker 7 (25:16):
Yeah, I think you know, having the mini by to
be able to get healthy and like I said before,
kind of look ourselves in the mirror and just you know,
do the little things right. And I know I've said
it a million times, but that's what we need to do.
We need to just look at ourselves and know how
we can get better. And you know, we're just we're gonna,
you know, go back these next four days kind of
(25:37):
just chow, relax and and look at the tape and
get better from it all right.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
So after winning five consecutive, the Vikings have lost two
in a row.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
They get the Indianapolis Colts next.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
This is known as the mini buy where the Vikings
don't play again until a week from Sunday. Probably best
just to get away from each other for a little bit.
Get get Cashman in that toe ready. My guess is,
if I were to guess off some things Kevin O'Connell
has said at press conferences, I think Blake Cashman could
play in that Indianapolis game. He's the leading tackler. Man.
(26:09):
It's in the Lions game. There were so many passes
that landed between the linebacker spot and the safety spot,
and then you had confusion at times within the defense today.
And he's the green doc guy. He's the one that
calls all the plays. I mean, I think you nailed it, man.
They really missed Blake.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Cash and it's because of what happens with Van Ginkle
moving him off the ball. Yeah, you know when he
if you keep vn Kingle on the line, which I
think made the defense better. You know, Josh Mattelis is
the linebacker, and Josh is not a linebacker.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
He's a safety.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah, he'll play there sometimes their line up there in
that area, but not consistently against the runs. So you know, you, Paul,
you mentioned getting some time apart. I don't know if
these guys need any time apart. I think they need
some more time together to work together, to communicate better,
and to be more disciplined. And as far as as
far as penalties go, and the timeliness of these penalties
(27:04):
and all that good will you built up in the
first five weeks, and you beat five good football teams
and the Giants it was Opening Day. Yeah, but you
beat four really good football teams in a row, you
lose to a really good football team, and then you
play a team tonight that here's it in the gut check,
get back on your feet. And I don't know if
(27:26):
our response it wasn't as you know, it wasn't as
if we played a clean game.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
And got beat.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
This is a game I think that self again, self
inflicted wounds and plays that were there to be made
that weren't made cost us this game.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Thank you for listening to the postgame report for Pete
Bursa jh' paul, well and sorry for the bad news
The La Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings thirty to twenty
from SOFI and SOCW and we thank you very much
for listening.
