Are you constantly putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own dreams? Coach Mikki gets vulnerable in this powerful episode about the battle against distraction and the courage to say "no."

Drawing from her own experience as a newly published author who hasn't even had time for a book signing, Coach Mikki explores the profound frustration of watching personal goals languish while serving others. She distinguishes between necessary responsibilities we all must maintain and the unnecessary distractions that quietly steal our time and energy. Most importantly, she challenges listeners to examine their relationship with the word "no" – a simple yet powerful tool many of us struggle to use effectively.

At its heart, this episode delivers a transformative truth: "Something that's important to you will become a priority, and you will find the time to do the things you love." Coach Mikki authentic coaching style empowers you to honestly evaluate your priorities and reclaim your time for what truly matters. Ready to shut out the noise and focus on your goals? Speaker 1 (00:32):
Okay, bring it in.
Bring it in, listen up, listenup.
Hey, I'm Coach Mickey.
You're here on 4th and 1Mindset and today I want to talk
to you about how do we shut outthe noise of distraction.
And what brought me to thistopic today is the fact that I
have been allowing so manydistractions take away from

(00:54):
really what I need to be doingor want to do.
And now I'm not saying not beresponsible.
We all have jobs, we all havefamilies, we all have things
that we have to take care of,that are going to require our
attention and that are going totake time, you know to do, and
people are going to expect us tobe there for.
But what I'm talking about issaying no us to be there for.

(01:20):
But what I'm talking about issaying no, saying no to things
that we know we should be sayingno to, because it is taking
away a lot of our time fromthings, and what I mean by that.
Recently, as you guys know, Iwrote a book, fourth in One
Mindset, and I was so excited Ipublished it back in May and I
haven't even had time to book abook signing.
I haven't had time to go outand market my own book because I

(01:42):
have been so busy doing otherthings for other people that
have pulled me in differentdirections that I haven't even
taken time for myself.
And it really kind of made memad because I thought about it
as I sat here and looked at mybook and I was like, oh my gosh,
I haven't even had five minutesto do anything with this.
And then, on top of that, Ilove coaching.

(02:03):
I love it and I'm currentlycoaching.
You know, as I told you before,I'm currently coaching this
year and I love my kids.
They're great and that time tome is my me time.
So I'm not going to qualifythat as noise, because as a
distraction, because it's notbecause I love it, but I do know
it's very, very time consuming.
And where I'm coaching rightnow is about an hour and a half

(02:24):
drive one way, so three hoursout of my day is spent in the
car for a two hour practice, butthe reward with the kids is
great.
So there you go, there's threehours.
So during that timeframe I tryto utilize it by either
listening to books on tape, making my game plan, making my
business calls, but I do findthat when I'm finally back in my

(02:49):
house and I'm trying to getother things done, to sit down
at my desk and even just do asimple podcast.
The time is so narrow that itmakes it difficult to be able to
fit something like that in.
So I've had to learn how to sayno.
I've had to learn to say foreverybody that's depending on me
to take care of things, findthings, do things.
I've had to say no.
You know, I think this is thepart where you guys are going to

(03:11):
have to step up and maybe takea look at it and revisit to see
what you can do without needingme to take care of it for you.
Or I'm there to help you, butlet me see what you got, let me
see what you've done so far so Ican help you move forward with
it instead of just doing itmyself and I'm notorious for
doing that going.

(03:32):
You know, I'd rather just do itmyself and get it done and not
have to worry about it, but italso takes up a lot of my time
and I've had to learn to say no.
So I wanted to share this withyou today because I think a lot
of you have got the noise ofdistraction, whether it's being
pulled in a different direction.
Whether you are scrollingthrough your phone, whether

(03:53):
you're getting caught up in therabbit hole of social media, I
do it myself.
I have to catch myself.
I've learned not to do it A lotof times when I'm filming
either here for my YouTubechannel or I'm on TikTok or any
of my other social media.
I've had to learn not to godown that rabbit hole.
So next time you think youdon't have enough time and I've

(04:15):
had to do this myself is take alook at your day.
Take a look at your phone.
See how many hours you'veactually spent on your phone.
See how many times you aregoing down a rabbit hole on
social media.
Put a timer on when you want tostart it.
If you need that fixed, putyour 15 minute fix and then take
the other 15 minutes to dosomething else.
And I know that we can all findtime to do the things we really

(04:38):
want and make it a priority, because something that's
important to you will become apriority and you will find the
time to do the things that youlove and that you wanna do.
So until then, get out there,do what you want, start strong
and finish strong and dominateeverything in between, and if
you're enjoying my channel, please like and subscribe down

(04:58):
below.
Please share it with yourfriends, and I love your
comments, your questions andyour suggestions on what you'd
like me to cover.
All right, guys, until then, see ya.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
