Ever wondered if the experts, coaches, and mentors we admire have it all figured out? Coach Mikki pulls back the curtain on this misconception with refreshing honesty. Despite years of experience with her  coaching football at extraordinary levels, she reveals that challenges never stop coming, what changes is how we handle them.

4th and 1 Mindset, Life's Playbook for Success

The difference between struggling and thriving isn't the absence of problems but the quality of our responses.
Life's unpredictability means we'll never face identical situations twice. The tools we develop aren't meant to eliminate challenges but to equip us for evolving through them. When someone tests your limits or pushes you to your breaking point, resisting the urge to immediately react can prevent escalation and regret. Instead, taking time to formulate a "precise, accurate, calm and thought through" response empowers you to maintain control and dignity while effectively addressing the situation.

Whether you're coaching a team, leading a business, or navigating personal relationships, this mindset applies universally. As Coach Mikki says, "We're probably going through the same thing, it's just in a different capacity." Ready to transform how you handle life's challenges? Visit www.4thand1Mindset.com to connect with Coach Mikki  directly and share situations where her perspective might help you respond rather than react.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, come on, bring it in, bring it in, listen up,
listen up.
So I've been asked multipletimes.
You know I've got this fourthto one mindset.
I've been living this lifestyleof coaching football.
I've been through some of themost extraordinary positions and
situations and someone asked me.

(00:23):
One of my viewers and listenersasked so is it easy now?
Is it something that each andevery day you've got it all
together?
And the answer is no, no, Idon't.
Each and every day is going tobring something different.
It's going to bring on a newchallenge.
It's going to bring somebodyelse that's going to test me to

(00:44):
see if I really know what I'mdoing.
It's going to be someone whosays something to see if they
can push me past the breakingpoint.
There's going to be situationswhere I'm going to be second
guessed.
No, I'm always doing somethingthat either one has to prove my
ability or I have to be able tostop and go through what's

(01:05):
happening and figure out how todeal with the situation.
Now, whether it's football oranything in life, I think we're
always going to have thesesituations transpire.
It doesn't matter.
You can think you've got it alltogether, we've got it all
worked out and I've got thesteps and I've got the motions,
but it doesn't stop there justbecause you have the tools.

(01:25):
What makes it livable, extraordinary, growing, is
constantly taking the situation, taking what you know and just
moving forward from it each andevery day.
I mean that's all we can do,because no situation is ever
going to be cookie cutter.
You're not going to go okay, Iknow how to deal with this, so

(01:48):
this is never going to happen.
That's not even realistic.
It's life, and life is alwaysgoing to throw you something
that you didn't expect.
And the tools that you learnand what you do to be able to
evolve and grow as a person iseverything that you know and
learn and take and apply eachand every day.

(02:10):
And the situation is alwaysgoing to change.
But what's going to make you abetter person is always having
the ability to stop and think itthrough prior to reacting to it
.
And if I could tell you onething or anything that would
help you through each and everyone of those moments is learn
how to respond, not react.
I had a situation happen thisweek, actually on the field, and

(02:33):
my first reaction was I was mad, I was angry, I had to bite my
lip and I said no, this is notthe time.
This is not the time to do it.
Think it through, figure outhow you want to deal with it.
And I actually came home and Islept on it, thought about it
and then the next day I went inand then I dealt with it in a

(02:53):
more precise, accurate, calm andthought through way to deal
with a situation.
And that's what we have to do.
Sometimes.
You cannot allow your emotionsto overtake something that is
transpiring, because you'regoing to end up blurting out
something you don't mean or thatyou don't want to say, and it's

(03:16):
only going to come back andit's only going to escalate the
situation.
So if I could tell you anything, when everything goes to
haywire or something happensthat you didn't expect, or even
somebody pushes you to yourlimit or does something that you
know you've been through athousand times, but it's just a
different person I can tell youright now, the best thing to do

(03:37):
is don't react.
Give it time, figure out theproper way to respond, and that
way you can deescalate thesituation, still be in control
and still hold your dignity andalso know that you've empowered
yourself with the best choice, the best information and the
best way to deal with somethingbeyond what was presented to you

(03:59):
.
So go out there, start strong, finish strong and dominate
everything in between.
I'm Coach Mickey, and if youhave any other questions for me,
leave them down in the comments.
You know, send them on mypodcast.
If you go to my website, fourthinonemindsetcom, you can

(04:19):
leave me comments, questions orsomething you'd like to know
that I can help you through asituation that maybe you are
dealing with, because Iguarantee we're probably going
through the same thing, it'sjust in a different capacity.
All right, till then, I'll seeyou on the field next week, see
ya.
