When life feels overwhelming, this 5-minute practice offers something radical: permission to let it all be okay.

Created by Bay Area yoga teacher Peter Walters, “The Okay Practice” isn’t about forcing positivity or spiritual bypassing. It’s about finding genuine peace with whatever you’re experiencing right now - the stress, uncertainty, and messy human stuff we all carry.

Perfect for busy schedules and anxious minds. No prior experience needed - just show up as you are and learn to begin again, no matter what happened before this moment.

This isn’t about transcending your humanity. It’s about embracing it with kindness.

(00:01):
Welcome to this practice on OK Ness.
Find yourself a comfortable seat.
Maybe you're at your desk or in your car or just on your couch.
It doesn't matter. Just arrive wherever you are.

(00:25):
Today we're practicing somethingI call Begin Again, a radical
but simple idea that every single moment offers us a fresh
start. Not tomorrow, not next Monday,
not ten years from now when you have all the things, but right
now. So whatever brought you here to

(00:47):
this Spotify meditation practice, whether it's stress,
anxiety, that restless feeling that sometimes needs to shift,
just let it be OK for now. It doesn't have to be good.
It definitely doesn't have to beperfect, but can it just be OK?

(01:10):
So if it feels OK, close your eyes or just soften your gaze
downward and take a breath, whatever kind of breath wants to
happen. Maybe it's deep, maybe it's
shallow. There's no wrong way to breathe

(01:30):
right now. I want you to sit with whatever
is buzzing in your head or messing with your heart right
now. The To Do List, that
conversation that went sideways, that thing that you're worried

(01:52):
about and just softly whisper toyourself, it's OK.
Changes, loss, shake UPS, frustrations.
It's OK. It may not be good, definitely
not great, but can you let even the the hard stuff be OK?

(02:19):
Can you let hardship be OK? Can you let uncertainty be OK?
Practice that, and here's what Iknow about beginning again.
It's not about erasing what happened or pretending

(02:40):
everything's fine. It's about loosening our grip on
how you think things should be so you can respond to how they
actually are. Right now you're having a human
experience. Maybe you're tired, maybe you're

(03:01):
overwhelmed. Maybe you're just trying to make
it through this day without losing your shit.
And that's perfect. Because this moment, exactly as
it is, is your teacher. Your breath is your teacher.

(03:24):
The weight of your body in this chair is your teacher.
Even that inner critic giving you a hard time about whether
you're doing this right, that's your teacher too.
So take a breath and remember, you get to be alive today on

(03:44):
this wild, spinning planet, in this miraculous body, with this
incredible, beautiful, sometimesbroken heart.
You get to begin again right here and right now, not because

(04:05):
you have to earn it or deserve it or because you figured it all
out, but just because you're here and that's enough.
Now I want you to think of one thing, just one that's been
weighing on you. Maybe it's a relationship, a

(04:29):
decision you have to make, something you've been avoiding,
that one Dang tooth in your mouth that just keeps giving you
hell. And instead of trying to fix it
or solve it or make it go away, just ask.
What if I could begin again withthis?

(04:52):
What if I could meet this situation with fresh eyes and a
deep breath? You don't need the answer to
this right now. Just hold the question.
Let it breathe in your chest a little more freely.

(05:16):
Because here's the thing. You've survived 100% of your
difficult days so far. You've already begun again more
times than you can count. You know, you're actually really
good at this. So whatever you're facing,
whatever wants to emerge, whatever needs to change, you

(05:38):
can begin again as many times asit takes.
And take one more deep breath. And as you exhale, let
everything that's not yours to carry just roll off your
shoulders like a weight. Then when you're ready, open

(06:05):
your eyes, look around. You're here.
You made it to a new beginning. You begin again.
And if you need to begin again later today when the e-mail
triggers you or the traffic test, your patience.

(06:29):
Your heart gets a little trampled.
Just remember this moment. Remember that beginning again is
always available. This is your practice, my
friend. This is your life.
This is your ever present chanceto start fresh.

(06:49):
All right, Begin again, again and again.
Begin again. I love you.
