scheduling? Right? Like as far as the way your work cycle goes, I know every department
has their own own way of doing things. We here do the, uh, yeah, we do the Kelly schedule

over here and we're on 24 off. Um, there's different schedules. I know there's like the
48 96, there's the 24 on 48 off, which I think that schedule sucks to be honest. Honestly.
Yeah, bro. I don't know how Medicare does it with the 24 48 bro. That's so Medicare does
that. Huh? I didn't even know that. Yeah. They do 24 48. So I think that is it's garbage

in my opinion, not, not the agency, just that schedule is trash. No. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
I guess to an extent I get it cause they're busy, but yeah. I mean, fuck, I don't know.
It's cause bro, like I don't know. Cause like I've only came from Kelly schedules, bro,
like in my past departments and stuff. So, and I know there's a department here where

we live. They do 48 96. I feel like maybe like two or three departments here. I think
Alton does 48 96, don't they? Yeah. That's the one I was talking about that they do 48
96. I haven't heard anything from it. Um, I know it came to a point where we went to
a station opening in another city and I saw one of the guys from Alton there and I mean,

him were good friends. You know, he was my, at the time when I was there, he was my lieutenant
and now he's like a captain or he's doing good shit over there, bro. So shout out to
him. But, um, I've always been wanting to ask him like, Hey man, like, how do you feel
about your schedule? Like, how was the 48 96 to me? I feel like I would like it. It
sucks. Yeah. Being awake, you know, I have fucking two dogs, bro. I have a weenie dog

that fucking makes a fucking mess and a Yorkie that eats like fucking everything, bro. Like
every fucking thing. So it's kind of like, you know, if I could just spare an hour just
to go fucking drop off some food, like, you know what I mean? They come back. Like I think
that'd be perfect, but I feel like that's kind of like my only thing in a way. And,

but like the 96 off shit. I mean, we do it right now too. I mean, we're liquid. Look

recently too, bro. I think it's like what 20, 30 some days, something like that. It's

are everybody's thoughts on the schedules itself? Right? So like we do the Kelly schedule

and while don't get me wrong, I love the Kelly schedule. It's great. I love the four day
breaks. Um, I just don't see like a major issue aside from obviously the city having
to adjust pay and stuff like that. Right. But I don't see a major issue. You go in for two

days, you're there 48 hours, knock out whatever you got to do. If it's busy, eh, it is what
it is. Right. We all got to live with it. You go through it, embrace the suck, go home
for four days and then do it again. Come back for two days and then you're going home. I
got this in between day, bro. Like for me, me personally, I hate shaving every day. Yeah.

I hate it with a passion, bro. Uh, I might, my beard grows so quick. Um, I shave in the,
in the morning, right? I don't shave against the grain when I go to work. I shave, I only
shave down. Okay. Okay. If I shave against the grain, it just fucks up my whole fucking
face and shit. So I shaved down and by the next day, bro, I'm already fucking back to

square one. No. Yeah. I already got like three centimeters of fucking hair on my face, bro.
Um, but I think that like the 4896, you know, you shave one day and the next day you could
do a quick touch up too. Right. And you're good. Then you go on four day, you're off.
You take less time off. If you need to be off, for example, instead of taking a 72,

if you need to take a whole cycle, you just take a 48. You know what I mean? Yeah. And
like, like also like another thing too, what people kind of complain about in a way. I
mean, you know, like we, our department, we have like our own policies and our own stuff,
but what people would do from what I heard is that during like their 48, the first day
they'll check their trucks and like the second day, not sleep in, right? Of course, but like

they won't check it. Like, you know, they'll still be up by six or whatever the fuck the
time that the lieutenant says or whatever our policy says and they won't check the truck.
Like, so it's just kind of like, like, you know what I mean? Like, it's just like a,
like another thing where, yeah, okay. Now you got to kill time. It's you're already
on the truck. It eliminates you having to check it a second time. You know what I mean?

Yeah. Nothing's changed. If you, if you use something or did whatever, you should already
know, you know what I mean? Yeah. Um, yeah, I think, I think the 48 96 schedule would
be cool. I just, I don't see our department ever changing to it. Yeah. I see the same
thing too. I, I, I really don't bro. I mean, I've talked to like what, you know, doing

the firefighter challenge this last year, I talked to like, for example, I think it
was sparks actually sparks, uh, F D they just switched like two, three years ago or something
like that to the 48 96 from the Kelly schedule and everybody I talked to loved it. So to
me it's like, you know, seeing other departments switch to it and then, you know, lighting

it or enjoying it a lot more is like, why wouldn't we want to do something like that?
You know? Oh yeah. Yeah, for sure. Um, it's not like we're, we're, uh, what is it? LA
like a station nine, um, in LA that's going, you know, to a hundred calls a shift or whatever.
You know what I mean? Like, yeah, yeah. We're not like that. You know, yeah, don't be wrong.

We did the calls like the other day, right? With station two, they got kind of hammered
at night, but it's kind of like, we're not at that level where it's like, you know, it
really wouldn't be beneficial. I think it's more beneficial for everybody to kind of go
in, knock out their two days, go on four day break and then just restart it. You know what
I mean? No, yeah. Yeah. So what I end up seeing is like, if we have our in between day, we

have a busy night. I go to sleep the next morning. You know what I mean? Yeah. And then
most of my morning's gone and then I would got my day and then I do whatever I need to
do throughout the day. And then now I'm like, all right, I gotta go back to sleep. Try to
wake up tomorrow for work. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that's just my
thought. I think it would, it would be a little more beneficial, I guess you would say. Oh

yeah. Well, I mean, speaking of like schedules and stuff like that, I mean, like, how do
you feel about going EMS? Ooh, um, I don't know, man. It's, it says like, I remember
when the rumors circulated like a few years ago when, when Eladro County EMS, you know,
shut down or whatever. Yeah. And the city was looking to buy it. Right. But then obviously

the city of far ended up buying it. But like, when they were going through that process,
I was just like, man, like, fortunately I'm not an EMT. Yeah. Fortunately. But I don't
know, I'm not against going EMS, but I think it would have to be a completely separate
division kind of like fire prevention and fire suppression. Yeah. Well, like it would
need to be a completely separate division, but it would need to hire separately, not

like prevention where they come normally from suppression. Yeah. It would need to be completely
separate in hiring their own people. Right. Like, so you'd have like an EMS deputy chief
or whatever. And then you'd have like an EMS captain and then you'd have your paramedic,
your PIC, a paramedic in charge. And then you'd go to, you know, your basic, if they
want to do that or they want to run two paramedics for truck, whatever. Right. Um, I think that's

how it should be. If they ever decide to go that route. Um, I don't know though, cause
like if we were to do it kind of like the other cities, right. Like West Likoh and mission,
like what ends up happening is they take off the engines. You know what I mean? Oh yeah.
If they need to, if they need to push these, uh, these other, uh, what's it called? Ambulance
calls or whatever sender reserve ambulance. Hey, you know what? Take the engine out of

service or do this. And it's like, man, I don't know about all that. Um, I'm not against
it. I just think it would have to be a completely separate division that hires separately. You
know what I mean? Yeah. No, I agree with the same thing. I would kind of prefer more of
like, like the way far does it. They have their own stuff. They have their own, uh,
chief, they do their own stuff. Like, you know what I mean? They hire their own people

on their side, which is cool. I mean, we zero problem working alongside. I mean, we do it
with Medicare all day, you know? Yeah. But, um, like other than that, I mean, I think
it'd be cool, you know, but I don't want to be bouncing around saying like, okay, well,
like if we're working the Kelly schedule, you know, we work Monday, I'm on the engine

on Wednesday. Like, oh, well we need someone in the box. I'm the fucking, the new hire.
So might as well move me, you know? And it's just like, well, fuck that. Like, that's not
what I'm here for. Like, you know what I mean? Like I'm here to fucking do my job just because
I have a fucking stupid cert. I mean, like, you know, like it doesn't, that's the only
thing I feel like it would be like a lot more troublesome, especially from like what I heard

coming from like mission and Wessico. I mean, let's just like the way you said, like the
engines they roll out to them shits too, which is like, Hey, that's cool. You know, manpower.
I mean, that's fucking bad ass, you know? But I mean, if you really think about it,
that's an engine out of service for whatever could happen, you know? And yeah, that's what
I'm saying though. I think if it's a completely separate division, bro, I think it would be

with Medcare there, especially where I'm at, right? Cause your crew leaves at 7pm, but

off topic, but it just brought it up to me. What I've realized is this is something obviously
that is way off topic from EMS, but dispatching bro. I never understand how, like, let's just

go with like a structure fire, a major MVA, a whatever, right? Something where fire is
normally going to be in charge of whatever's going on. Yeah. We're the last ones to know.
Oh yeah. Bro. I'm like flabbergasted at that shit. Like how are, how is a apartment fire?

How is it more priority to send? Obviously I know law enforcement's a lot quicker, right?
They're quicker to get there. They got a smaller unit. They're already on the road, whatever.
Um, but they'll go through the process of letting everything know on PD side and then
dispatch us. It's crazy, bro. No. Yeah. And then they'll even call EMS before us, bro.
It's like what? Yeah. Like recently, bro, they had a, like a medical call, bro. And

EMS was already on scene. The dispatch lady or whatever the fuck she was like saying like,
okay, well like EMS is already on scene. They just need assistance. You know, like CPR already
initiated bunch of bullshit, right? Fucking PD was in route and then they toned us out
saying like, okay, let's go assist them. PD showed up first, of course, but it's just

like, what the fuck are they going to do? Do they have Lucas's in their truck? Like,
do they have AEDs? Like, bro, they don't got shit. I mean, what are they there for? You
know? So that's what I'm saying though. Like even like with like the other stuff, like
structure fires, like, okay, like normally nine times out of 10, any officer that's there
is there to, to help us evacuate, right? Yeah. Um, that way we can get started and don't

even run. There's some officers that go above and beyond and they know what the fuck's going
down. They try to set things up. Um, accordingly, they try to find out if people are in there,
whatever, not saying that that's bad. I'm just saying like the thought process with
dispatch and I did dispatching. I know, I know the way it goes. I did it for a year.
You know what I mean? Where'd you do it at? I did an admission and when I was dispatching,

it was like over at least admission. I'll say this admission, bro, dispatching over
there. They, they got it locked down, right? Yeah. They, as soon as they find out what
it's for, they transfer to that department. You stay listening in, send an officer while
they're dispatching fire already. You know what I mean? Yeah. So over there, mission
has their own dispatcher, right? For fire. Yeah. Um, and then at the time it was Medicare

still. So you would just transfer it. You have easy access to transfer to Medicare or
to mission fire. You transfer it over and you could stay listening in on the nine one,
one. And once you get the address, whatever, put it through and you send an officer, right?
Yeah. Easy. I don't know how it's done in Edinburgh, right? So I can't knock it. I don't
know how it's done, but it ain't like that to my knowledge. It ain't like that. Um, well,

I heard that they were that you guys had, uh, like a fire dispatch. Well, we, well,
yes, but it was only like eight to five, right? So it was good, right? Cause we always had
someone available eight to five, but like after hours and she'll like, I don't know,
man, I just think that at our size, bro, we need to have our own dispatch, right? Oh yeah,

for sure. Um, cause a lot of times, man, I like I'll be on the radio trying to call dispatch
to get a, you know, give an update or to request something or whatever it may be. And it takes
me forever to get ahold of anybody. We're not their priority. And I get it, bro. Like
Leo, you know, Leo's are out there. They're doing, you know, traffic stops. You never,
they never know what the fuck's going to pop off on there. You know what I mean? On my

end, the worst is going to happen is I fall off the truck. I stubbed my toe or some shit,
right? Yeah. No, unless I'm at a structure or something, but like that's the worst. You
know what I mean? But yeah. Um, on their end, yeah, like I get it. They prioritize what
they got to prioritize. And on top of that, bro, that's the department they work for,
bro. You know, they literally at the end of the day, police department, they don't work

for us, you know? So I just think we need to have our own dispatch that way. It kind
of eliminates a lot of these, uh, discrepancies that we kind of have, because there's, there's
tons of stuff like even like with our reports, there'll be like no times, there'll be nothing
in the cab. They're like, it's just say like, Hey, you know what? Dispatched and they arrived

on scene and control time is like, bro, I know I said at least like five different things,
bro. Like, you know what I mean? Yeah. It's just stuff like that. And it's, it's, uh,
obviously we want to provide the best services to the citizens, right? Ultimately that's

end of the day, we're just civil servants. We're just trying to serve the public. Um,

and I think that, you know, that, that entail obviously applies to them too, you know? Um,
but I definitely think we should have our own dispatch. I think that's something that,
you know, we should be working on to try to get, it's not like we don't have the stuff.

bro. It's not like we don't have it there have the capabilities we have to just, obviously

have two people that do 12 hour shifts or they have nine people and they're doing three

didn't want to self dispatch either. So we're just waiting in like four minutes past and
