(00:00):
So before I proceed with the old Q&A smash, so, so, yes, yeah.

(00:06):
I'm going to say this, so every, I don't know if you guys notice this, you probably do,
but if you skip through any of our timestamps in our videos, Russell goes, so, so, it's
what I actually look for. If I had some kind of AI that could just detect when he said,
so I could do the timestamps so much easier because it's to say.
Hey, don't give away my radio DJ secrets.

(00:26):
So, so listen out for it. You'll not be able to unhear it.
Little shit. Um, but there we go. Um, yes. So it is the beginning of the,
see I definitely didn't do it there just to like trick you. Um,
so.
Welcome to the in the tank podcast. Get ready for an hour of hot 40 K goodness coming in your ears.

(00:56):
So in the tank now, baby.
We are live. We are indeed live. Welcome everybody to in the tank Q&A smash.
How are you doing my man? Are you okay? I'm really good. Thank you. How are you?
I'm good. I'm good. Although I must preface with the fact that, um, if our darling listeners hear

(01:18):
any sort of construction esque noises, uh, the world around me keeps moving. Despite the fact
that I record this obviously every week allocated slot time and my neighbor has some construction
going on next door. So we'll see. We'll see. Yeah. It's their new drill day.
Um, right up the. So how you guys were doing, how you've been doing, man, we've been, what you've

(01:44):
been working on and what you've been working on. I sort of, I got back from the event and I was
like, it's really nice not to have to be frantically painting for any, we need to do an event like,
like, yeah, we do. We'll catch up on that in a sec. So I came back from the event and I was like,
oh, I could do with like a few more near fights and a reductus saboteur. So I sprayed a load of

(02:05):
those and then I just put them on my desk and I was like, you know, I just couldn't even stomach
the idea of painting anymore. GSC. So I'm having a little pallet cleanser and the it's a little,
I want you to guess what you think my pallet cleanser is. It's just a squad.
Ooh. Two guesses. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Fine. Um, I'm going to go with the obvious and it'll be like

(02:30):
the weird choice, right? Necrons? No. Fuck off. I've painted necrons for three years, Russ. That's
not a pallet cleanser. Shit me. Uh, I'll give you a clue. I'll give you a clue. Yeah. Yeah.
I'm having a little snog grass. A little, are you, is it something chaos-y? Is it something chaos-y?
Is it? What are you doing? What are you doing? Oh, you guess. You got one last guess. Oh, is it

(02:55):
something alpha legion-y? No, it's death guard. I just really fancy doing some, uh, some like
power armor. And I just got, and I was like, which ones are actually have built? So I thought, well,
I'll just, I'll just do a squad of plague marines for five plague marines in a character. Just for
fun. For me, like power armor is the prison that I built because I'm so institutionalized to doing

(03:21):
it that one day I won't do it. And I'll be like, what am I doing? It's weird when you look at the
squad of plague marines with all those details on them. And you think this is, this is actually a
break from painting for me. Yeah, true. Although do you find, I find weirdly with the plague marine
nurgle stuff in particular, and also CSM in comparison to regular vanilla marines, those

(03:42):
fuckers are mega detailed, man. There's a lot going on and they've got like guts coming out, tentacles,
horns, fucking chain mail, loads of random shit, but I quite like them. They're cool models. So
I'm just going to paint a few and just, just to give me a, like clear out the tanks a little bit,
because I've just, I've done so much GSE lately that I feel like I'm going to go mad if I jump
straight back into them. I do. If I were you from what you've hobbyed, I would have just like sat

(04:06):
in a dark room and just not done anything. Yeah. So there we go. It did feel a bit that way, but
yes, quick quickly tell me your stuff and then I'll give you an event recap after that. Sure.
Yeah. So obviously you laugh that I've just been doing a bastiless throughout most of January,
ballistas, but to be fair, I've been ill as fuck over January as previously stated. So the fact

(04:27):
that I even got basically a bastiless done is, is a miracle, quite frankly. So I'm just kind of
getting the bastiless to tabletop status. Well, to be honest, it's beyond tabletop standard now.
I just need to dry brush the base, but it isn't finished, but I'm happy with that momentarily.
Right. Like I'll deal with him later. Right. And I had a crisis that I was like, shit, I need to get

(04:48):
on my stern guard, like ASAP. So I've been, I've been grinding my stern guard this week. So I'm
going to, how long have you got like two weeks? Three weeks, three weeks. So this week and then
two other weeks and that weekend, but I've got some time of that week because I'm, I've got a
couple of days off at the beginning of the week where I'm looking after Leo when my partner's away.
Um, so in the evenings I'm going to be like doing four, five,

(05:12):
slogging, painting nights. To be honest, I probably think I've got about 30 hours left.
You're doing 10 stern guard, right? Yeah. Uh, you'll be fine. 10 stern guard and a gladiator,
but the gladiator is like 90% done. So like I'll be fine. And then he's good. And then, um,
this second meme on the channel. And, uh, and then after that, I've got another

(05:34):
library as conclave list that I want to do where it's two, two gladiators and that's some variant
units, which is basically going to be all the other dark angel units that I want to do until May.
Yeah. And then have that cutoff point where it's like, okay, from this moment forward,
it's the year of chaos for me. But I've been kind of prepping that in advance as a, as a,

(05:55):
cause building for me is again, I've talked about this on the channel before. It's like a different
head space for me. Yes. Cause you don't even do your mold lines. That's why it's just
fuck off. I was so shocked to my core because Russ sent me these terminators, these chaos
terminators. He's done. I was like, Oh, great me. And I had a look at them. I was like,
those just fucking mold lines down the front. And I said, Russ, do you not get rid of your

(06:17):
mold lines? And he was like, no, never done it. And I was like, fuck. Do you know what,
do you know what the crazy thing about that is? No one notices when you paint them. That's not
true. It's true. It's not true. Cause I left one mold line on the model and everyone in my fucking
friend group was like, Oh, I see you left them old line. Fuck off.
Cause you get better at painting it. But like, but like, like no one's honestly, mate, it's fine.

(06:39):
It's fine. You just need to let go. I'm going to pick them up. I can see mold lines. To be fair,
to be fair, those old terminators are pretty mold liney nowadays. Yeah. Modern kits tend to be,
modern kits tend to be that the mold lines are covered up by like another. Yeah. They do,
they do better job on the whole of covering them nowadays. But what I was really proud of from my

(07:01):
build and I think I leveled up my building hobby game was, and I sent you a photo of these and on
the, oh yeah, these are gorgeous. Thank you. Oh, and it reminds me, I posted these on the
discord. So immediately like comment, subscribe, get your asses on the discord. Thank you to all
of our Patreons follow Ed at Eddie sub lab. And obviously please like and comment and everything

(07:31):
else. Yeah. Thank you to our Patreons. Thank you for our page. You guys are the support.
No, as we have a Patreon, um, as in we have a Patreon as well. Yes, we do. Yes. Um, so yes,
the thing that I'm proud of myself, I made the most gorge unit of chosen word bearers that I could
possibly ever make. They're very cool. Thank you. I really went to town on these. I made one chosen

(07:58):
for like each of the chaos gods as well. And they're all like really different looking to each
other. If that makes sense. One of them, which is my absolute favorite is like the Seleshy one that
I made where he's like drawing a sword, like really good bits that are in those. Like they're just,
they look like a proper, if you, when you sprayed those, you could a hundred percent think they're

(08:22):
like chaos sword brethren for the black Templars level of like difference between all the guys and
all the weapons. Thank you. Thank you very much. But I mean, you know, that, that was a high class
bit spots, right? Where you've got like chaos law bits. You've got 30 K forge world bits in there.
You've got loads and loads of diverse components. I was like hoarding for my chosen music because

(08:45):
I was going to, cause they're going to be quite an important unit in my army. Cause they're going to
be essentially Aberdon's meat shields and to give Aberdon advance and charge and, and shoot and all
kinds of cool shit. So they're going to be like a centerpiece unit in my word bearers army. So
nice to see them painted me be good. Well, yeah, I think they're going to be one of the first things
that I work on when I come back, although I'm going to be so spoiled for choice in terms of

(09:09):
what chaos stuff I want and need to paint one squad at a time, baby. That's all you need. Yeah.
And I think it's trying not to do 10 mans cause it breaks you to be honest. I think that's what
I'm doing with my stern guard at the minute. I want to kill myself. Um, but like, I think, uh,
by that point, when I come back into the summer of chaos, hopefully the death guard decks will be
out and the old Lord of boxes will be out. So that'd be a lovely model to work. Very cool.

(09:34):
I like doing a five man character, five man squad with a character. I think that's quite a nice,
but yeah, that's nice. That's nice. So as a character is a similar scale to the squad.
Yeah. And then they all tend to have that uniformity of color. Yeah. That's nice. Um,
cause even if I'm doing a little sorcerer, the, you know, what are they called? The death guard
sorcerers, uh, plague. Yeah. Those ones. It's not the sexy one. I do have him, but it's the old one.

(09:59):
I thought get my eye in first with the old one and then I'll do the sexy new one. Yeah.
Fair. That's totally fair. Um, nice. So you need to give us a low down. I was quite proud of you
for this. Like you did tournament in review. I will go through it quickly, but basically we took,
uh, I went with the, the try hard teams. We took three teams, two of them were our sort of like

(10:21):
top teams. And then we had the, um, Romanian WTC team who are part of try hard as well. Uh, one of
their players dropped. So I filled in for him. And basically we, I think we went two wins, a draw and
two losses in the end. Uh, the two losses were probably my fault because I had some really tough
matchups in this, um, event. And because I'd done so much painting, I hadn't really had much time to

(10:45):
get any reps in with the army, which kind of sucks, but I did, as I went through the games, I was
picking it up better and better. Um, and I really enjoyed the list. It was a lot of fun. Uh, I was
playing biosanctic, breed search, gene sealers, for those of you don't know. Um, and it was just
great. I loved it. And I, and I fully had that army fully painted for the event. I did put it up
for best painted, but then I realized once I put it up there that I had no chance like in hell of

(11:08):
getting it because there was some fucking insane army paints. So I like the guy that won it,
he basically had, uh, he'd made vote hand that were like Pandora from, uh, the borderlands games
style. And they, and they said like, welcome to Pandora with the sign. And they had crossed out
saying hell. And he'd put them on such a cool army. There's probably pictures on like one of

(11:30):
the UKTC Facebook greets somewhere, but good God, he deserved the win. Um, so yeah, incredible
armies and, uh, and some really cool manages, but yeah, we did, we did, we did well. We had fun.
I just had an amazing weekend in terms of just seeing everybody and hanging out and,
Oh yeah. That's the best bet is hanging out with your mates and rolling some bones.

(11:50):
100%. And we also, all of my opponents were absolute legends. Like genuinely,
I couldn't have asked for nicer opponents. We all had really fucking good games, really close games
as well. Like they could have swung either way here and there. Uh, but they were good fun,
a lot of fun. So definitely recommend there's another ITT in May. I think it's already sold
out unfortunately in Birmingham, but they're, uh, they're good fun events. So we'll roll on

(12:14):
the next team tournament, which is going to be the Oxford one for us. Yeah. No fair. Fair, fair, fair.
Well, I, I, I remember, um, the first day you sent me a report and it was like win, win, draw. And
I was like, fucking hell. I was like, I was like, I was like, whoa, I was like, that's pretty decent.
I mean, I was like, fair play. And then bless you. I went into like creations of bile and he just

(12:39):
full sent the army term one. Cause they went first, which sucked. And okay. So just on the
creations of file front, did they choose the enhancement before? Yes. Yeah. See? Weird.
Yeah. Because it just fucked all my profiles up, made it really hard for me to do damage to them.
So you could choice. See in my head, I'm thinking, right, nine times that's how I'm going to choose

(13:01):
that plus two inches of movement. Right. Yeah. You'd also think that, but he just didn't need it.
No, no, no. But this is my point though, is like the, the subtle strength of that detachment is
that if you know what the shit you're doing in your matchup, you go, Hmm, actually, actually.
Cause you've got to look at your profiles versus the opponent's profiles. And you think actually,
do I need the attacks or the strength or whatever it is? Probably not. Like if I go toughness,

(13:24):
then it messes up my opponents attack profiles. And like he's going to GSC. So most of my stuff
just dies to a stiff breeze apart. Well, yeah, exactly. He doesn't need extra attacks against
you. Right. That's ridiculous. So, no, it's really good. Um, one unit let me down all tournament,
which was, um, the, uh, acolytes with the sort of auto pistols, which are the mining tool acolytes.

(13:45):
They just shit the bed every single game. They, I bet I don't think they made it in once they failed
every single charge. Like a six inch charges. That's unfortunate. I mean, that's unfortunate.
Sometimes that happens once because I rapid ingress them and I had a shorter charge. And then when
I made it in, they just didn't do anything. And I was like, good work guys. So they're going out of
the list. Um, you need that, right? Cause something on paper, you're like, oh, that should be all

(14:07):
right. And then you use it and you're like, oh, tits. Not good. Not good. Um, but yeah, I mean,
I mean, I'm a massive fan of that creations of vile, vile, the creations of vile detection where
I'm like, that's the thing that I want to be rocking. And then the other one that I went into
day two was assimilation swarm, tyrannids. And I thought that it was just going to be loads of
bugs. Loads of little gritty, Scotty stuff of, you know, scrittily little fuckers, but it turned out

(14:32):
to just be like a million hive guard that have like six up field and their pains are T8 three wounds
fight first on one of the squads. And like they can regen models and they can regen wounds on all
their fucking tanks and shit. And they basically just, I couldn't kill anything Russ. I think I
killed a pyrovor and then he just resurrected it. And I was like, okay, fuck me. Right. Like mental.

(14:54):
So that was really hard. Um, I underestimated how tough that was there. It was like playing
against Necrons. So honestly just couldn't kill anything. Um, so fuck that, but it was great fun.
Really good. Enjoyed the tournament. Well, buddy, I'm glad that you did. You had fun and it was cool.
And obviously now you can kind of just cruise with your gene stealer cults and just do the, um,

(15:14):
I'll just do your tyrannids. Do you like gargoyles and stuff? Yeah. Are you still planning to do that?
Yeah, I will do definitely. Okay. Probably, probably give it a little bit of time and then
start doing it in the summer or something. Not in a mad rush. It's not the plan.
Be focused on now that I'm a lot of people that ask you about that. Like the channel, like,
Oh, battle, when's the battle going to be ready? You and all my friends and family are asking me

(15:38):
every day. And I'm like, it's going to be ready soon. It's nicer to be in that position. They're
not quite frankly, because at least you know, that people are actually really interested from day one.
It's going to be wicked. I can't wait. So we got enough people now as subscribers to actually
stream from the get go. Thank you guys for that. Did sub. Um, well, I'm very much looking forward
to being a guest on that mate. Like no pressure, no pressure, but yeah, like I'm totally loving that.

(16:02):
And wiping you out with my dark angels lives. I feel like I'm going to lose the first game on
the back. You have to, I feel like you have to. And also I think people don't realize like,
and I'm going to have to get used to this as well. When I, when I co-host with you is like
the difference of when you're streaming and playing compared to when you're just playing.
Because actually like, despite the fact that obviously it all seems a bit like improvised

(16:24):
and stuff like that, like you are trying to entertain people, right? Yeah. You can't just
like stand there in the tank for like three hours and go like, what do I do? You need to be like,
you need to be like talking to people. I'm going to be running the fucking stream as well. So yeah,
it's like swapping cameras. So you're, you know, my one brain cells going to be like, ah, ah,
ah, ah, beautiful, beautiful brain is going to be just like spread out like a fucking thing.

(16:48):
Yeah. It's bad enough just playing warhammer to be honest. Exactly. Exactly. So, you know, so,
you know, like that's a completely different skillset that I'm going to have to get my head
around as well. But Hey, it's going to be fun. Must exploring it in a cool environment. I'm
looking forward to just getting loads of fun guests on wrecking my best mates asshole.

(17:08):
Lovely. Well that about wraps up our introduction. I think it does indeed.
So before I proceed with the old Q and a smash. So, so,
every, I don't know if you guys noticed this, you probably do, but if you skip through any of our
timestamps in our videos, Russell goes, so, so it's why I actually look for if I had some kind of AI

(17:31):
that could just detect when he said, so I could do the timestamps so much easier because it's just
a radio DJ secrets. So listen out for it. You'll not be able to unhear it.
Little, little shit. Um, but there we go. Um, yes. So the beginning of the sea, I definitely
didn't do it though. Just to like trigger you. Um, so before we proceed with the actual proper

(18:01):
Q and a smash going forward. And of course I've got everybody's names and thank you everybody for
asking us various questions. Um, if you want to put some more questions in this, uh, episodes,
comments, please. So please let us know what questions you'd like to ask us. And honestly,
it'd be about anything. It'd be about our opinions on, on this, like anything, law based,
like anything hobby based, even anything on not hobby based, whatever, like ask us some shit and

(18:25):
we'll get some stuff going. Um, just make sure you specify whether you want the answer in
centimeters or inches. Yes. That's very important. Um, so yes, please let us know. And then we'll
crack on. So we're just going to see how many of these we can get through. If we obviously
run out of time, then any questions that we haven't asked will be on the next one. And we're
going to try and do these like every six weeks to a couple of months, cause it'd be quite fun.

(18:47):
Do these every now and again, and it gives me a break from having to be topic master for a week.
So there we go. Master of topics. So our first question is from a dandy Deadpool. And also I
will say if I mess up anyone's names, I do apologize because I'm an idiot that can't read.
You can't pronounce anything anyway. No, I can't. I can read. I can't pronounce this. True. Yeah.

(19:10):
So which Primark would you like to see return next? Oh, that's not true. Not return. Not return. I
misread that. Oh, interesting. Do you want me to go first or do you want to go first? Sorry.
I, my brain filled in the back there. I know that this is, this is a bit of a stretch to see this
Primark return anyway. I think there was some kind of law reason that he might be able to somehow,

(19:35):
but I really don't want to see Sanguineous return. I know he's super dead, but I actually quite like
that he's super dead because I feel like it actually plays such a role in his chat, in his
Legion, basically his chapter, whatever that I think it would be almost, it almost be pulling
the punches a little bit on GW's front to bring him back. It would be a bit like, you know, you've

(19:56):
killed your darling, you've made a big wave and now you're like, oh, actually he's going to come
back. I feel like it would lose its power as a moment in the Horus heresy if he did come back.
So, oh, I will respectfully disagree if I can comment on this. I've been wondering about this
for ages. If it was some sort of like warp bullshittery, where it's like, oh, we found

(20:20):
Sanguineous spirit in the warp and we've tethered it to a physical frame and I totally agree with
you. Like crap. I did think though how cool the Arks of Omen could be story wise if they did turn
out to be time machines. Oh, I think what Vash'dor is potentially gunning for and they, when they do
go back in time, potentially find a way of bringing Sanguineous from the past to the present.

(20:45):
Oh, that could be really cool because then you've still got blood angels in this current universe
or PTSD and all fucked up and that's still there. That's still like imprinted on them. And then
you've also got Sanguineous hanging around. I want to see this now. That's just triggered
something in my head. Like the idea of like, of Oricon trying to stop this time medley,

(21:07):
because obviously that's his whole thing, right? Yeah. Oricon the diviner. I'd love to see him
like trying to stop the Arks of Omen being reused because he knows what damage it'll do to the
Continuum and all this sort of shit. Be wicked. That'd be quite a cool little against Vash'dor
and stuff. That'd be a wicked little series of books. Right. So who would you choose then?

(21:28):
Who would you not like to see return? See, I've got a complete head. I know who it is. Like, do you
reckon? Yeah, I think I do. Now, now, now, okay. So I want to say, I will preface this, that despite
on our last episode, go check it out if you haven't heard it, which was the trial of the Space Wolves
and how I have my complex feelings towards the Space Wolves. I actually think I would be quite

(21:50):
happy to see Russ return. So I'm not actually going to say anything. I think I know why. It's because you want to see Big
Daddy Lion beat him up again. I know you. Hey, bro. Ready for round two? That'd be great. Come on.
Well, yeah, round three technically, I suppose. Fuck Korrax. Oh, Korrax, Cup Chair. He's already about,

(22:11):
really, though, isn't he? In a way. No, he's kind of trapped in the warp a little bit. Yeah, but he's
not on the battlefield. Because he's a demon now. He's a demon. He's a demon Primarch, kind of, right?
And he's not a blessed demon Primarch in as much as he's not an actual chaos-y infused demon Primarch.
And demons trying to exist in material spaces, all kinds of fucked up. And they start to go boom.

(22:34):
I know who your second choice would be. Who would my second choice be? Old Nightlord's one.
What's his name? Oh, God. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, you forgot him, eh? I've forgotten his name.
Names come to me and go. It will come back to me. But yeah, Conrad. Conrad Curse. There you go.
Yeah. I mean, Conrad's just a fel end. I don't want Conrad back. I don't want Conrad back for a thingy.

(22:57):
I quite like Conrad back, conversely. Oh, well, you would. But yeah, Spooky Crow. Spooky Crow, boy.
Yeah. Also, because him being there stops Lorgar coming back. Yeah. I actually desperately want
Lorgar to return, because I think he'd be awesome as a cool, like- So, Spooky Crow, Nevermore. There
we go. Nevermore for the Spooky Crow. There we go. There we go. There we go. So now it's my Brazilian

(23:25):
stallion, Emanuele's question. Does GW now have too many armies slash factions? I don't think so.
I think- No, I don't. I don't. I actually quite like- More! More! More! Let me buy more armies and
put them in my barn. And stall them away in the attic. But yeah, I think I feel like this is the

(23:46):
thing of our time, right? You know, when your grandparents die and you have to go and empty
their house out and they've got loads of fucking woodworking random shit in there and you're like,
why the fuck have they collected all this shit? It's worthless. Or our grandchildren are going to be like-
Or a million saucers. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. Or like silver spoons. Our grandchildren are going to be like,
why the fuck has he got so much grey plastic stowed away in every orifice of this house?

(24:07):
But yeah, anyway, so in terms of more armies, I actually think more variety is a good thing.
I really like that we have a good number of armies. I agree. Because I think it just adds more variety
and there's so much, so many interesting races in the 41st millennium and I just love seeing them all
on the table. So actually, I would say more. I want more shit rather than less. But I can see why from

(24:32):
a balance perspective, more could be tricky because the more you introduce, the harder it gets to
balance, right? I would agree with that. I totally agree with everything you said. I love that.
I love you, Ed. You're totally on my wavelength. Thanks, Ross. I love you too. I love the diversity
of all of the factions in the game. I actually think we probably have enough space for three,

(24:54):
four, five more factions actually before it gets almost like a critical mass. Make it up to like a nice
round 30, right? Or something? Yeah, whatever. How many factions are we currently at, I was going to say?
Like 20 something. And don't get me wrong, right? Like the current system as it stands, there's a
lot of models, right? Game balance is a fucking asshole. I totally understand that. But, but

(25:16):
GW make a Brazilian dollars, right? 80. Balance your game better.
They do better this. They actually do better now. Actually, yes. I will let you have that. Since
Josh Roberts has been on and like they've had a bit of, they're just, they're doing the rules
better. I'd actually say, and I'll go on record of saying that actually in its current state,

(25:36):
with the balance updates and stuff happening every three months, this is the most balanced 40k has
ever been ever in the history of its game. I would argue, I'd like genuinely argue that as a result
of that, with this constant like living sort of system that currently exists, I reckon you could
still do that with multiple factions. I think, and it would make an addition last longer. I think

(25:58):
that's the one thing that I do want actually is a longer addition, like from three years to five,
I actually think make an addition last longer, like make it last five years. I feel like they need to
do more with the story through the addition. You know those campaigns you used to get in
store and stuff where you'd actually have like the campaign overall would move things forward over
like a year or something. I feel like they should go a bit more like that. They need to increase the

(26:22):
speed of, I think they are doing this, but they need to increase the speed of Codex releases over
an addition because there's so many armies now and so many of them at the weight. And then you end up
with a problem like Guard had in ninth edition, where they get about three months of Codex before
they get walloped with an index and lose everything. So I do think they need to kind of increase that.
And I will say, I'm kind of hopeful that going into 11th edition, whenever that may happen,

(26:43):
be it later this year or next year or beyond, I hope that they actually don't re-index. I hope
that they just keep the Codexes that people have rolling forward into the next edition and almost
make 11th edition like a 10.5. This is just a step forward in the law, maybe a little step forward in
some of the core rules here and there that shift things in a better direction balance wise or

(27:05):
gameplay wise. Well, I think the only reason why they do like new additions as big jumps as they do
is like, and this is a very cynical headspace, is to like sell Codex seeds, right? Yeah. To like,
like make that a financial thing. But as we've already talked about in the past, we are standing
on the hill of making that shit free, right? So if you have this system where eventually one day in

(27:29):
the motherland of this utopia that we're designing, right? That if Codexes and army books and stuff
like that are free, there's no reason to have these unnecessarily big mechanical jumps unless
it does need a reformation, right? And as it currently stands, I think 10th edition is
minus one or two little interactions that will really feel bad, much more so than 9th. They were

(27:52):
early on, right? So I think I love where shit is gone. This edition. I love the stratagem.
I get that this pisses people off, like casual people, especially, or people who don't get a huge
amount of time to play the game because they paint up their army, they get the less done. And then
the whole rule sets change and balance points have changed to the point where that's no longer
valid. I understand that, but I do also think that it is so much better for the health of the game.

(28:15):
And they do a really good job. Although you are huffing Hopium thinking that the Codexes are
ever going to be free. Maybe a free online rules, like maybe they won't tie them to the Codex in
the same way, but it won't be free. It'll be like a sub. It'd be ironic that that'll happen when we're at the height of the 3D printing revolution.
We can get like models for nothing. We've talked about this before. Oh, we've made Codexes free.

(28:38):
And we'll be like, oh, a little bit too late there, G-Dums. Yeah. I do think they'll go
the way of a subscription based model if they're going to do anything. That's what they'll do.
It'll be like Warhammer Plus, but for the app where you get all the Codexes, you pay 15
quid a month or something. Sure. That's a license to print money alone. So many people would do that.
Yeah, I agree. I agree. Yeah. But yes, thank you, Manuely. That's a great question, but no, make more

(29:03):
factions, please. More. More. More plastic. More grey plastic.
Blah, blah, blah. It's been our homes, damn it. So we've got another friend on the channel recently.
How could GW make Combat Patrol good and not unbalanced? That is a tricky one. I've got some
thoughts on this. You go first. This is dead easy. Go on. Dead easy. You make it basically

(29:25):
boarding action rules. Okay. Without the boarding action display. So essentially,
boarding action had a really limited scope for points. So it's like 500 points or 750 or something,
but it had very heavy restrictions. So no vehicles, minimum of two units. The character can't have any

(29:49):
enhancements. I think the total cost of a character can't exceed 125 points or something. It had quite
a lot of restrictions. If you make all Combat Patrols fall into that bracket, which isn't hard,
actually, that isn't hard, then you've got essentially like an infantry skirmishy game

(30:11):
that is on a smaller board and will teach you the fundamentals of the game itself. And you don't
have to come up with any janky, like kill team-esque rules or Combat Patrol rules and
data. It's usually the data slate. It does feel a bit like boarding actions and Combat Patrol

(30:31):
almost sort of get in each other's way a little bit. It all gets in each other's way. I know that
they're different. I know that they're different rulesets, et cetera, but I do think maybe you
could just do away with Combat Patrol or boarding actions and kind of merge the two in some fashion.
Like you said, it also gives smaller games a different flavor where it's like an infantry
based game. And it kind of leads on to the next point that we've got from the next person that

(30:55):
it also makes a focus of your core of your army relevant, which is the classic HQ2 troops.
And that should be everyone's starting point when you get into an army. I don't care.
No, so go on. You finish your point.
What I mean by vehicles is I don't mean just like big vehicles, like maybe a cap on how much

(31:19):
a vehicle can cost. So you still get transports, I guess, or like bikes or something. But at least
it gives you like a flavor for how that army mechanically makes sense. Because some of the
Combat Patrols are very relevant and some are not at all relevant. So like give us something that's
relevant and spicy. It'll be almost more interesting, I think, to see the current Combat Patrols that

(31:44):
we've got where it's like they're quite big chunky boxes for a hundred quid. It'd be almost nice
to see like a 50 quid Combat Patrol box with literally just an HQ2 unit. That's a better
starting point for most new players, right? Yeah, because actually, if you're a new player,
if you're like young Timmy or Sally and you've got your first army and it seems like,

(32:06):
oh, the Combat Patrol is the best sort of thing, that's a lot of fucking gray plastic for you as
a young person. Or just a new hobbyist getting into it, right? Where you're just like, oh, no.
And there are some units in there that are not very relevant. They're just not. They're not crazy
relevant. I love Possessed, right? But you don't need Possessed in a starting Chaos Army. You just

(32:30):
don't. Sorry, you just don't. And it's like, if you were to literally go old school and literally
two troops and a HQ, great. Fucking great. And then that's enough stuff to move around and feel
like you're having a tabletop game. And like you said, there's a core of most armies as well. Not
all exactly. It's a good starting point. It's what I want to talk about next. But how do you feel
about that in general? Yeah, I agree. I think that makes total sense. I think it would be a much

(32:54):
easier way to get hold of the game as well. And it's less of an onus on new players to paint lots
of shit. Not everyone wants to paint a vehicle out the bat. With me and my Genes to the Court
list, I literally just finished painting. I had the vehicle sat there until the very end and I
was shitting my pants about painting them. I was like, fuck. And then I eventually got around to
doing it and ripped the bandaid off and it was fine. But I had to do them a bit differently. So

(33:17):
I think for just new players, if I'm getting into Death Guard and I literally just have Lord
Blotagus and two squads of five Plague Marines or a squad of ten Proxwalkers and five Plague Marines,
bang it. Yeah, that's great, isn't it? That's diverse enough because most factions have two
battle line choices. Don't get me wrong, some only have one. But in that case, I don't know,

(33:42):
Voltan is a good example. You have Voltan, a unit of Voltan and then a couple of bikes or something.
Voltan? Voltan? Voltan? Voltan? Why have I... This is L sneaking into everything.
I need to do my Gloladiator. But I actually had a thought about that.

(34:02):
Yeah, that's a really... And the reason why I went back there was because of my experience with
Third Ed, which I'm going to discuss now. So John W, thank you, John. He also is part of Farrandon
Games Club. So much love to Farrandon Games Club. You guys are the best. I need to go more, actually.
I've just been needing to paint and actually hobby, unfortunately. But there we go. This is an

(34:25):
interesting question and I've thought and rumored on this a lot and I've got interesting contrary
opinions on this. Would increasing the points across everything help the game? AKA, it will
create smaller gains for balance and more importantly, more affordability for people.
What do you think about that? I'm going to hold off on my opinion here because I've got a very

(34:50):
massive opinion about this. I do think there is... I know that they did say in 10th edition that
they were squashing points down a bit so that you didn't have to have as much on the table, etc.
And they did a little bit to some extent, but I didn't think they really did that much. It didn't
feel like more than like a 10% knock almost. I do think they could go a bit further with it,

(35:10):
to be honest with you. Just to sort of speed games up a little bit. It doesn't need to be big. I
don't want to lose like half the army or something because I do like also having, you know, a lot of
models on the table to make this feel like a proper scale battle, but maybe just nudge another 10%
down or something across the board. And that would just make things a little bit harder in

(35:31):
terms of choices of what you want to put in the army. And it would mean that you can't just take
quite as much stuff. And as you've just said in the question that Jon's posed, I think that it's
less for you to paint, which is great. And it's more affordable, which is another plus point.
And it also means that horde armies are actually really losing more than 10% because it feels like
a lot more when you knock 10% off AdMech or GeneStealer Colts. That's a lot less models to

(35:56):
paint. So that's my kind of headspace with it. I'm going to contrast this. I think the opposite.
You want more shit on the table. I want 10% more shit. You fucking maniac. So,
and I have reasoning for this. I have reasoning for this. So we've, me and you have talked about
this before where you, when you start reducing the game feels balanced and at a proper war game,

(36:21):
we're talking war game, not skirmish game. No, true. War game feels more balanced kind of the
more points you kind of have, right? Because special characters or really, really unbalanced
Epic heroes or unbalanced units or swingy, swingy units can't like swing the game from like having

(36:41):
dramatic turn losses, right? And I believe that actually at a bigger level games, one of my,
one of my favorite periods of playing was like eighth edition and eighth edition games were massive.
Eighth edition games were quite chunky. Like you could get a lot on the table for eight edition
actually. And that system felt really balanced actually, like way more balanced than ninth. But

(37:07):
I think the reason for that was ninth increased lethality and it also increased a lot of strategy
and blow. And it was just all a bit like mad, right? So I think if you have a decent combat
patrol system, you do not need to fuck around with the mainstay 2000 points or if anything go the

(37:30):
other way, right? Where if you're, if you're boarding, sorry, excuse me, if you're boarding
action slash sort of combat patrol is balanced and fun, that will be like your, I've got an hour on
a break and I need to play some phones, right? That's that sort of this because combat patrol
at the moment is so crap that like it doesn't really offer a contrast. No one fucking plays

(37:53):
contract combat patrol. It's just the start of your 40k army really. So if you made combat
patrol that much better and fun and actually engaging and cool. Like war cry, like actually cool.
Exactly, exactly. War cry. Then you wouldn't need, we wouldn't need to like have that massive gap.
Does that make sense? Yeah. And my other point of that as well is how you can also help balance.

(38:15):
And I've said this before a thousand times is be more restrictive with army creation. Oh yeah,
yeah, that plays into it. Sure. Because again, at that point, you're then creating these massively
askew lists within a 2000 point framework where, you know, you're going to be choosing only the
best and that's not, and as far as I'm concerned, that's not a balanced war game. Like, like I don't

(38:37):
care. Like it's, it's one of my pet peeves with tent that is the one of the only things I feel
lets down 10th edition is that army construction is way too broad, far too far. I like it.
You like it now, but trust me, no, trust me, I reckon you would enjoy it more with a more restrictive

(38:59):
system. I actually used to find the old system where you had to have X and Y and these many
troops and all that sort of stuff. I found that a bit wanky and especially the way they used to do
the detachments where you had to like get more detachments to get more CPI. I really didn't like
that. I love the fact that you just get your CP, you have your big old detachment and that's it.

(39:20):
And you just put your shit in it. I actually quite liked the freedom of it to be like, I can kind of
just make what I want here to an extent. You can only put three of something in unless it's troops
or battle, whatever they call it, battle line. That still is what I'm saying though. Like, like,
like if you took the weird command point thing about buying bloody detachments or take that

(39:40):
fucking wank out, right? Yeah, that's unnecessary. Just, just like make, I don't know, three,
three detachment choices and they all give you the same CP and none of that whole shit, right?
Maybe three or even just one. You just got to always have a HQ and two troops. I don't mind
an HQ and two troops as a basic minimum because most of my armies have that in the menu. This is
my point. This is my point. Yeah. For you, for you, you're not really effective, but like

(40:05):
for a space Marine player or like, you know, like a CSM player or like, I don't know, like
custodian's player or like gray nights or whatever, like.
Or gray nights, we can give a shit because they're terminators of battle line. Oh yeah, true. I've
forgot about that. I've got about that. But I don't know. Just make that, make that thing.
Cause every addition of 40k up till now has always had some effect on it. Back in second

(40:28):
and it was a percentage. It was 25%, 25% of your army, a minimum had to be battle lining,
troop, interesting. So one of the interesting things about increasing the size of the game by
10% is I think we would see a lot more stuff going into reserves at the beginning of the battle.
Cause you wouldn't have space to deploy it all. But it makes that a separate mini game. Yeah.

(40:50):
Cause it is a bit of a minute. People do stick shit in reserves, but it's not, it's only for a
point or reasons, you know, it's either because your army is so fat, you can't deploy it, which
is the case for something. Or it's just because you want to do little sneaky attacks here and there
like you do with the jeans, silicaults and deep strikes and stuff. But yeah, it's an interesting
one. I think, um, I do think the game is in a good spot in terms of its size. I could see it going

(41:12):
up or down depending in 11th edition. I'm intrigued to see what actually ends up happening. Um,
there you go. I think it's in a good spot. Interesting, interesting perspective there.
Two different perspectives, but it's all cool. It's all cool. Uh, the, um, the paiter had some
really interesting questions for us. Yep. Um, what box slash specialality game would you like to get

(41:34):
more law slash novels about? Um, and what themes should the next quest game have? What we mean by
quest game is like, uh, curse city, or if we're talking to OG quest games, the original Warhammer
quest slash hero quest, I suppose. Yeah. Or like, um, the curse tower, I think is what it was called
or something. Tower was what it was called. And of course the 40 K various 40 K dungeon run games

(41:59):
over the years. It's a black stone fortress. That was it. Um, what, what, what law of such novels
would you like? I think black stone fortress would be my, my game that I would want more law for more
novels for. Yeah, it's quite cool. It's quite cool. I think there's, they're very mysterious,
the black stone fortresses. Uh, and there's a lot of Necron history tied in there because obviously

(42:19):
there's the whole thing. I think, is it, is it true that Necron's built them? I'm pretty sure it is.
Isn't it? Oh, I don't know. All the old ones. It's either that or the old ones. They're like from that
sort of time. Oh, no one knows this. Blackstone, right? Which is what traditionally Necron's
build a lot of their shit out of. So, uh, that's cause they're old though. That's cause they're
ancient. Yeah, exactly. So I think it'd be interesting to have some more development of that

(42:41):
because I thought it was quite a cool little game. Uh, blackstone fortress. That's my answer to the
first one. What about you? Uh, Mordheim. Yeah. Mordheim's cool. So, so novels based in Mordheim,
based around all different gang perspectives. And that'd be cool. Bring Mordheim back Mordheim
for 2026. That'd be cool. Mordheim for 2026. That's a license to print money. That is old,

(43:03):
old world's back, baby. It's not as if like old world's not back. Mordheim will come back at some
point. Hey, Ed, I've been dead serious. If they bring Mordheim back, I'm fucking, I'm there. I'm
fucking there. I am there. I really don't. I can't see a world in where, unless they, unless they
can't for copyright reasons, I don't see a world. I'm 99%. Yeah. I don't see a world why they
wouldn't. It's literally free money. At some point it will happen. I'm almost sure of it. And it'll

(43:26):
be so hyped up because so many people fucking love that game. Oh, I never played it unfortunately,
but I'd love to give it a go. It's amazing. When it comes back out, I will for sure. And then the
second one, what theme should the next quest game have? I would say in the old world, I would do a
old world, Skaven versus Empire, Undernuln in the sewers. That's so cool. A sewer dungeon run,

(43:52):
where you could have like a party of desperate like Empire peeps, like have a priest of Sigmar,
have like a witch hunter, have like a young sort of like wizards, like that's like not like a
posho twat that doesn't know what the under cities of Skaven are like. And just have a party of like

(44:13):
Empire people and then have all of the monstrosities that Skaven could possibly throw,
have some like plague rats in there and like a Gracia as like the ultimate boss. Yeah. Or like
some rat ogres and shit. How fucking awesome. Maybe have like, cause it's also kind of a reference

(44:34):
cause I, this was inspired by Skaven Slayer, like the William King book for me. Maybe have like a
Slayer just hanging around, like a dwarf Slayer just there. Just like being cool. You gotta have
a dwarf Slayer. I think it's, I thought it was a pretty fucking cool idea. You're gonna have like
warpstone tokens as you're investigating. That'd be awesome. That'd be cool. That'd be so cool.

(44:58):
Yeah. I like that idea. I think, I mean, I probably choose the same to be honest with you,
but if not, I'm not going to choose the same one. If I obviously can't choose the same one,
I actually think it'd be really cool to do something to do with like zinch demons. Cause you know,
though, you know, the secret level thing was so cool. Like that fucking sorcerer,

(45:20):
like just like basically blood bloodarizing. Purging a chaos cult would be great. Yeah. I think
that'd be really interesting. And then like to see some, some of their really wacky sorcery and all
their sort of, you know, their, their hijinks and their magic and their sort of Tom foolery.
Yeah. It's more that they could just do a lot of like fucking with you. Um, in terms of like

(45:41):
transmuting the landscape and all this sort of interesting stuff. I think it'd be quite cool.
So, but yeah, yours is the better choice. I would probably thank you. See, I love Skaven.
I know you do. Yes. Yes. Uh, I know you do. I do too. I think they're awesome.
But yeah, I just, yeah, that'd be, and the fact that all the tiles would be so grim and it would
be a sewer is just so. Plus I love warpstone glow. Right. It's just such a cool colour.

(46:06):
But you can just imagine having little warpstone tokens and taking them and there'd be like a risk.
True. And they could be like a risk versus reward power up. I suppose you could potentially
make your party. There you go. So thank you. I'll take that. I'll take that. Um, what is our take
on the, uh, Oh, is this still, yeah. Oh my God. The underpayers loads of like questions. Um,

(46:27):
what is your take on the warhammer horror slash crime novels?
No, go on. Have you read any of them? No, I'll be honest. I'll be honest. I
it's that, and that isn't a statement thing. It's just that I haven't had time. There's so
much going on in the black library. I haven't had time to do it. I love the idea of it. Really love
the idea of it. And actually from this question alone, I'm probably going to actually do some

(46:50):
research because I've heard that they're great crime novels for me and not really where I'm at.
Good old horror novel though. I'm down with it. Yeah, but you say crime novels aren't your place.
They're almost like the Eisenhorn series and stuff like that. A kind of crime novels. I see them
more as like a James Bondy spy. Yeah, they are a little bit like that, but they're also, you know,
hunting down like cultists and weird sort of assholes and stuff like that. Like people selling

(47:13):
shit. I don't know man. For me, horror has more legs in this universe because like the grim, dark,
eldritch, Lovecraftian vibe is potentially my favourite. I think I've read, I think I've read
one of the horror books. I can't remember which one it was. And I've read a couple of like
compendium of short story things years ago, but again, I can't remember, but they've always been

(47:36):
really good. The ones that I've read. So I think it's something we both need to dive into because
we just sit there reading bloody horrors heresy books all the time. Otherwise, sure.
And then the last question and from old under painter, what characters slash units would you
like to see models get made for slash updated? Easy. Traz in the infinite needs a new model.

(48:03):
Oh yeah. 100%. What about you? My favourite dark angel character, Ezekiel. Yeah. Yeah. He's so my
Sam and Ezekiel. I'd say my eyes argue more is begging for a green because he's hit that
fucking red. He's also a head of, he's also one of the heads of the wings. Yeah, he is. Yeah. So

(48:23):
like he needs to do his wing next, right? Yeah. That'd be, that'd be 11th edition. I'm not all 10.5
sure. I'm 99 Ezekiel might just get thrown in there as well for fun. I love Ezekiel.
I love Ezekiel. That's a good shout. Yeah. I think there's a few Necron characters that I
really want. I can't remember the bloody names of them now, but we lost a load of fine cast going

(48:47):
into 10th edition. And I just, I miss all of those. So I think it'd be nice to get a few of those back.
Nemezor Zandrek is another one I absolutely love and I wish he was
back in. I've also got two honorable mentions as well. The Horus Heresy is one model that I would
desperately love and that's the Incendio Men of Iron. Oh yeah. Yeah. Cause they have a data slate.

(49:14):
So the, obviously the AI horrific, evil fucking. They're the ones that the lion just dumps on
people. Yeah. I'd love one of those or a couple of those. That'd be amazing. And 40K, an updated
Dreadwing Regiment, the Interreptors, which are the Plasma Flamers. Oh, okay. Because they have them,

(49:38):
they're in the vault of the rock, right? So have them like, be like a torrent plasma gun. That's
what I was expecting. But that always does hazardous cause it's so fucked. It's like burning you.
It's like melting you as you kind of do it. Love that. Love that. And of course the Khan,
the great Khan on a bike for 30K as well. Yeah. Nice. Good choices. Thank you. Thank you.

(50:06):
PPM asks, this is kind of a question for you Ed, to be honest, cause I have no idea. It's a lot of
Gene Sealer cults. I'll read everything out, but then if you need me to re-clarify. Yeah.
How to best start an army as a new cover to Gene Sealer cults, how to best restart playing Gene
Sealer cults again, where you have lots of Gene Sealer cults, infantry and tyranids. And what

(50:30):
detachment and unit selection gets you into the Gene Sealer cults mindset and play style? Yeah.
I say, I think in terms of, if you've already got a load of the units, you're pretty much,
I imagine you've got what you need to get going anyway. But I would say you probably want like
20 Neo fights, sort of two five-man acolyte flamers squads, just to get you going. Yeah. Primus,

(50:54):
big brain lady. I always forget what her name is by something. And then yeah, her, she's cool.
And then I would say like metamors, hybrid metamors are really good. 10 of those. And then
maybe just 10 of aberrants like that. That's just sort of like work towards, there's quite a lot of
stuff. And then a Goliath truck and obviously a couple of Achilles Ridge runners. I think that's

(51:15):
that forms like the backbone of most armies. It's probably like a thousand points or something.
But I would actually say the, the index detachment is the, is the best one to start out with in terms
of using those units for a start. And also it's just the, it's the most sort of Gene Stealer
Colty kind of detachment. I'm forgetting what it's called now. I'll look it up as we're talking, but

(51:41):
basically it's, it's a great one because you've got a little bit of tricks. You've got things like,
if you get shot at with one of your infantry units, you can like take them back up into
deep strike, which is really cool. And they've just got some little tricks and some fun
enhancements, like plus two inches to your charge or, you know, being able to make sort of
reactive moves and that sort of stuff. It's called host of ascension. So yeah,

(52:03):
and it gives you sustained hits and ignores cover when you come down out of deep strike,
which combined with lethal hits from big brain lady, and then the crits on five strat means that
20 block of neophytes can do like sustained and lethal on fives, just shit out a million attacks
and just kill quite a lot of stuff in one go. So that's a good core of a, of a list. And it's
really fun. And you'll have a lot of fun trying to remember all the gun profiles, your, your neophytes.

(52:28):
In terms of the last bit, I think, yeah, that's pretty much it actually. If you've got loads of
tyrannids, try final day out. It's basically the same sort of thing, but we'll just chuck a
load of gargoyles and lictus in. Off you go.
I love you Ed, but just everything that you just said was like,
Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow,

(52:49):
sorry. Yeah, that's it. I have no idea what you were saying.
Load a bucket of G's to the cold ship.
Zenos, Zenos, Zenos, Zenos, Zenos, Zenos, Heretic, Heretic, Heretic, Zenos, die Zenos.
Um, okay, cool. So wicked. Thank you for that.
That's cool. Like, honestly, people, if we want to know how to pilot certain factions from us,

(53:10):
like as much as our opinion is worth, we're more than happy to go through that.
Um, Hungry Bear, AKA Rob T. Um, right. Okay. Awesome. This is very similar in vibe to,
uh, yeah. Okay. If you could have any in-law units as character made playable for a current army,
what would it be? Well, we've kind of answered that really. Um, if you could have any law army

(53:34):
faction made playable that doesn't already have rules and I know exactly which one might,
what would it be? Um, that's an interesting, you go first. Dark Admech.
Oh, chaos Admech. Let's go. Oh, that's what I would love.
Love it. Absolutely. Love it. Love it. Love it. That's a great choice. Yeah. Yeah. Dark Mechanicum.

(53:57):
Dark Mechanicum. Yeah. Yeah. I think they need that. I think they need that. And, uh, yeah.
I all just have that as a detachment option from. Nah, fuck it. New faction, all new models. I want
them to look really scuttling. It would need it, wouldn't it? Because like the her, the road,
the technology, technological heresy of demon engines would be so prevalent, right? It would

(54:19):
be such a massive part. Oh, it'd be so cool. Oh my God. Jesus. Yeah, dude. I reckon it should also
give you access to all of the, um, specialized demon engines from all of the other factions.
Could do, yeah. Like plague boss crawlers and like, you know, like. I think they should just get
their own. Yeah. Fine. Yeah. Fine. Fine. Cause people kind of do that as a. They could take Chaos Knights as an ally.

(54:42):
Yeah. Yeah. Fine. People do that anyway as like a hobby project for Admech as well, don't they? Yeah,
they do. But it's a lot of work. So yeah, fair enough. What's your choice? Um, to be honest, I,
I'm pretty happy with my lot if I'm a, but I thought about what would be cool for the community
from this exodites. Oh yeah. Exodites would be wicked. My wife would kill me if I didn't mention

(55:04):
this because she would literally be like the fry meme of like, shut up and take my money. Should
it exodites be made? Uh, I think also the fact that Eldar have been more popular than I think GW
originally thought because the models were so fucking old that when they've got their new models,
they have been selling out everywhere, man. Oh yeah. And they're also going to be bonkers strong.
Well, yeah, exactly. But like, but like actually people really like Eldar. So, and I think if you

(55:29):
had dinosaur fucking Eldar people would buy that by the concept of an exodite is amazing as well.
So very cool. Um, for me, crazy choice, chaos orcs. Oh, I'd be well into that. That's fucking great.
Also chaos. Voltan. So Voltan as well. Let's try it one more time.
Voltan. Shut up. There we go. Chaos Voltan. So like, yeah. Voltan. Oh, whatever. Shut up.

(55:56):
Chaos Voltan. Um, so yes. So Voltan. Yeah. I want chaos. New faction Voltan. I want chaos dwarfs.
Give me chaos dwarfs. Chaos dwarfs would be cool. I love a chaos dwarf. They're so cool. Corrupted
Voltan core. Cause we've got, we've got, we've got evil elves. Give us evil dwarfs. Like they're cool. Like
again, make that AI really cool. While we're doing it, why don't we get nice necrons?

(56:20):
You kind of already have nice necrons. Like some of them will work with you if they're too important.
The silent king's ambivalent. Like he's kind of like, whatever. I work, well, he was, he seemed to be buddy
buddy with the old fucking blood angels. So like whatever. A little bit. It makes sense. You know.
Yeah. It's all about efficiency. So there we go. But chaos orcs certainly like corneas orcs. I've seen some
armies of chaos orcs that people have done. So cool. Red orcs and stuff. Very cool. So cool. Yeah. Yeah.

(56:47):
Into that. Uh, yeah. And rules to have, um, chaos cults and armies, right? Like where you can have
some crazy chaos cults. I played against chaos cult, by the way, the detachment at the weekend. Evil,
isn't it? Yeah. I think it was like an 11 nine. We were using the WTC scoring system to him in the end.
So, uh, the game swung in his favor by a little bit, basically, but fuck me to those AC DC bricks

(57:11):
hit hard. They get like puzzled to hit, plus on the wound. We were all hit. Yeah. You know, the,
the occurs cultists bricks with the characters in the curse cultist AC DC. So they, uh, those things
will rip anything to pieces. They're so fast. They can advance and charge. As a word bearers fan,

(57:33):
I kind of need those in my army, but they don't get the benefit of fab Fabrius is, uh, no, you
have to run them as chaos. I think to get the most out of them, but they were really cool. Um,
there we go. So that's our, that's our choice. We're getting there. Oh my God. We've gone through
this. We've almost done the pod as well. So this is actually worked out quite well. Nice.

(57:56):
So a brood rooster, which is great. They're here for a name. Uh, we kind of answered this question
on part, but I have another, another choice. What was your most loved mini? So we answered this on
the peachy pod was, I think that was my arm, our sort of in terms of most loved, it was more like
our most, you know, precious, yeah. Sentimental. That's the word that it, uh, so in terms of like

(58:20):
my most loved mini, I think I've got to go with, I have two that kind of share the lime light for
this one. And one of them isn't painted yet, but the other one is. And I, the reason I love them
is it's because they're the, the models that I have spent the most time on from a hobbying
perspective in terms of converting them. And one of them is one of my transcendent Katan,

(58:42):
the endless swarm, which is basically, if you haven't seen it, I need to put a picture of it
on the Instagram. It's basically just like, there's an Ossiarch bone reaper spell with this like big
guy just sort of coming out with a big cloak, but I converted him to basically just be made of
scarabs. And there's like this swirling mass of scarabs all like rushing up him and office base
and stuff. And it looks like there's like a hundred and something scarabs on that. I completely forgot

(59:05):
you had made that model. Like you played against it when we first met. I did. I did. I, we had a
very close game that game actually. No, but as in he pushed your desolation marine, shitting or
whatever. I eventually got to them with him. Yeah. I knew you were a ace top mad lad when I saw that
model on the table. And I was like, that guy's a fucking dude. Like he has the patience to do that.

(59:31):
And I was like, I think, yeah, that is one of your high points as a hobbyist is that model.
And the other one is my custom demon prints for my death guard, which I love him. He's going to be so
good. I need to get him painted too. He's so fucking good. I'll tell you what Ed, you do punch above
your weight, mate. You are quite a good hobbyist. Shut up. He's made out of a badden and just like a

(59:54):
load of death guard, nurgle demons and whatever bits. My favourite bit about him is there's this
like tiny nurgling, like hanging off his leg, like yeah, get him boss. It's the fucking great.
I just did a shit on your leg. Yeah. So he's wicked. I've like, he's got like a massive

(01:00:14):
scythe and you can like, I'm going to magnetise his wings because he's got these, you know,
those wings that the plague drones have, he's got like four plague drone wings coming out of his
backpack basically. So I'm just going to have it so you can like clunk them in because it'd be like,
you'd be able to just make him in either on foot or winged just like that. So that's I think,
I think for whatever reason it was that Aberdon model was a conversionist's wet dream. So good.

(01:00:37):
When that model came out, like so many chaos people were like, oh, it's great. It is one of
the nicest models in the entire CSM range. And I had to get one. It's just so good for converting
because I basically sort of like married him into a, what are they called? The Lord of Contagions.
So like I kind of mix a Lord of Contagion between him. So like he's got the Lord of Contagion's head

(01:01:01):
and like the big banner, the nergly one on the back. And I've got like twin Plaguespert gauntlets
underneath his, his fist arm and stuff instead of just a bolt gun. So I've really gone to town on
that one. So I'm looking forward to painting. I need to get him done. He's on the agenda.
Nice. I have two. I have two. I've got a gooey one and a not gooey one. So obviously on the

(01:01:24):
peachy pod, I talked about the lion model that I absolutely love, but we're not going to talk
about him today. The one that I really enjoyed doing that I was like, I've upped my hobby game
actually. And I've really enjoyed it and I need to finish painting. And he's like 95% finished.
Is Luther for my 30k army where I rep Luther as a Paladin of the Heteroskenetica. How the fuck can

(01:01:50):
I say that? How can you say that but not voting or ballistas? If you see Heteroskenetica written down,
I guarantee your brain would like have a stroke. Oh, you are a creature. I know, aren't I? So weird.
But yeah, so I wanted to make Luther because I, the theme of my 30k army is a Calibanite

(01:02:11):
Loyalist Army, which can be played as a traitor army for the setting, for the setting. And I want
is because there isn't an official model out for the Paladin of the Heteroskenetica. So I thought
the perfect choice would be Luther. And then I had to sit down and work out exactly what components,
because obviously Luther's that much smaller than like... Yeah, so I used a old veteran body,

(01:02:37):
which is significantly shorter than like the modern 30k sculpt. The bastard bit was finding his head.
Oh yeah. So like finding a head. And I think I've literally found the perfect Luther head
that looks like Luther. And I also like put an old Bretonian helmet that's kind of like dangling
from his waist, but like a really basic bitch knight helmet, like not with any like flourish

(01:03:02):
on the top. No. Like a knight errant helmet, which obviously represents his time spent as a knight of
Caliban back in the day and stuff. And I just really like how that model came out. Like I was
like, that looks fucking great. And obviously thematically makes a lot of sense. So like,
you know, when I play Horatera C as a traitor, I obviously use Luther for that. But the sentimental

(01:03:33):
gooey one goes back to my origin. I might have mentioned this person in the pod before. If you
do listen, because I don't know if you do my friend, that's awesome. But if you don't,
because of where you are in conjunction to your relationship with GW, I completely understand.
But he's currently a GW manager, but he was one of my best friends growing up. And we kind of

(01:03:57):
enjoyed the hobby together. I obviously can't mention his name for obvious reasons. But I love
you. And I still think about you all the time. And I wish I could mention your name on pod. But I
obviously respect your privacy. He was a legend. And he really, really got went hard into the hobby
young. And there was a reward system called skulls with a Zed. I don't know if you remember this.

(01:04:21):
Right.
In the day. See, there you go. So back in the late 90s, early 2000s, there was a system called
skulls. And basically, if you spent over 10 pounds in store, for every root increment of 10 pounds,
you got a skull sticker. It was like a shiny, shiny skull sticker that you'd put on a reward map.
And essentially, it would be like five skull stickers of tub of paint, or like 10 skull

(01:04:46):
stickers of regiment box, or like, and it would eventually get to like 20 skull stickers, like a
battle force. Or like, or like 100 skull stickers, a fucking resin statue of like, like something.
Some serious shit then, yeah.
Yeah. By the time you got to the end, you got some really cool shit. And I remember offhand

(01:05:06):
mentioning that I loved the 50 skull reward, which was a replica of the 30k, uh, rogue trader era
space Marine. Okay. So like a BK from rogue trader with an old sort of like, like venom
gun or something like that doesn't exist in the modern era of the thing. And blessing this guy

(01:05:28):
got me that model. So he cashed in 50 skulls for me or however many skulls it was and got me that
model. And it was just a really cool surprise. And he was like, I know you really liked it and,
and so it still exists. Uh, I think it's actually in my drawer right now and I haven't painted it
yet because I want it to be a really cool thing to paint one day and to have it as a sentimental

(01:05:48):
thing. And, and it was just really cool that he did that for me. And he got that. Yeah. Like
there you go. Sculls. Do you remember skulls? I probably was saw them in the shop, but just,
I don't remember. There you go. But that's cool. So that was one, we have two other questions from
breed rooster as well. Um, what is your biggest issue with tournaments? Okay. So enough of them.

(01:06:15):
See, I don't understand this, like divide with like tournaments for shops and they're all tickets.
Yeah. I had a really opposite, like I'm having a really opposite experience. I've barely had any
bad experiences and the ones that I have had have been very, very quickly and easily resolved.
For me, it's the social event of your, of your, of your month. Right. It's like,

(01:06:38):
it's like you go and hang out with some buddies and have a great time. Um, my,
my biggest issue with tournaments weirdly is tournament fatigue. Yeah. I would say that not
having enough time in the day, if I'm honest, like I wish we could have, you know, maybe like
half an hour longer per round, just so you didn't have to rush quite so much in those last terms.

(01:06:59):
That's a longer day as well. So yeah, I know. But I mean, that's what I'm saying. Like long more,
more time in the day. It's building that stamina so that you can go longer. If that makes sense.
And maybe drop a, okay. Drop around, make it a four round event. Some people do that. Some people
do that. Um, I think that's what they're doing at the Oxford one, aren't they? What for the onslaught?

(01:07:21):
Not for the onslaught for the teams event. I think it's two and two. I might be wrong.
Am I still invited to that? Or have you got your... I think so. Yeah. I think so. Yeah.
Well, we'll let you know nearer the time. Yeah, of course. You just keep the weekend free. And if
not, we'll, we'll just mug you off completely. Um, yeah, I'm pretty sure you, I'm pretty sure
you've got a spot, but we'll, we'll find out. But yeah. Um, Michael, correct us in the comments.

(01:07:43):
I think it's two and two, but I might've just heard that from somewhere else.
But yeah, essentially it's not really the people or anything. Uh, it is. Yeah. Just the, just the
fatigue of doing it and the mental resilience to do it. And everyone's deprived of sleep because
like assholes, we've all waited till the last minute to paint our armies. So all knackered.
Uh, and food is shit. So, so, yeah, that is actually something better food at tournaments

(01:08:09):
would be nice. They're getting better. They, they had a few, few trucks at this one that I've just
been to, which was nice. They had like, you know, places that was doing the sausages and
burgers. They had like a pizza place. They had like, uh, shit food, man. Yeah. I mean, it's like,
it's not food to keep you going for a long time. Right. And like you get past...

(01:08:31):
We've been over this in one of our previous episodes, like the kind of foods you should be
bringing to tournaments, things like bananas and like that nice sort of low energy kind of food.
Burns. Yeah. It is true. It's true. Like, like they're great. I fucking love them. I wish I
could have time to do more. Yeah. No, I totally agree. Like anyone who is bad mouth in tournaments
and don't go to tournaments, you need to get a reality check. Well, it's more that you just need

(01:08:54):
to go to one. You probably haven't been to one. Just go to one, find out what the actual experience
is like, and then you'll go, well, that's pretty good. Unless you have a bad time.
And then the final question from Brood Rooster. Uh, what's your dream army? If you had all the
time, money and skill in the world. Now we have discussed this on a very old, like in the tank

(01:09:17):
episode where we called it like the, the, the fair, the wish army, the wish army, right? Yeah.
Genie, the slash fairy godmother army. Um, has yours changed since then?
I think mine's probably still the same, but I'm going to add a caveat to mine. I think if I could
choose my, so my choice was Jocari. Um, and I still think that will stand as my choice, but I think I

(01:09:40):
would wait to make him or he wish until they've redone some of the range. Cause I know that
they're probably going to do things like racks and beast master packs. If they don't just,
cause there are some old models you just can't even get anymore. Right. Um, so I'm kind of intrigued
to see what they're going to do with Jocari. Um, I feel like it's an army that if it does get that

(01:10:03):
range refresh for a few of its like models that are old, then I might be like, you know, don't
take me Frodo and just sort of dive into it at that point. But, um, that'll be mine. I think I
just love their play style. They're just so much fun. Um, so that would be mine. What about yours?
I'm cool for 40 K. Like I've got all the armies that I could possibly think. No, I wouldn't. I'm

(01:10:25):
cool. I'm like, I'm actually like with word bearers, I'm like, this sounds really crazy.
I'm done obviously just maintaining what I've got and painting what I've got, but I'm kind of
more than, what would you choose? That makes sense. Uh, it would be one or two armies actually.
It would be for, for extended games, right? It would be, um, Horace Hersey, white scars. Yeah.

(01:10:49):
Both from a painting perspective and a modeling perspective as well. Um, have a really cool
jet bikey, everything on jet bikes. They are really expensive to buy because like you're,
you're literally fielding because it's 3000 points for, or seriously, I'm not, I didn't know if you
knew that. No, I didn't. Um, that's kind of standard two and a half, 3000 points. And for 3000 points,

(01:11:13):
the white scars, it's literally like 60 jet bikes. It's like 60, 70 jet bikes. And, and you know,
and, and, and, and, you know, that's, that's 50 quid for three of those, right? So it's like, so
like, yeah. So, and obviously you're painting the fuckers. Yes, exactly. Excuse me. I'd like to order

(01:11:36):
but yes. And, uh, the reds on white, fuck that shit. As previously previously said, um,
old world, I was new, it was going to be old world. Presuming that, um,
I have done my Bretonniami, which is what I want to do really, because Bretonniami are my favorite
faction. Uh, I would say beastman army. I knew you were going to say beastman. I was thinking

(01:11:59):
myself, I was like, it's wait, wait for the beastman refresh. Yeah. Yeah. I was fucking,
do you know why? It's because, because you are a beast. That's why I fucking knew you play
Toron in world of warcraft. Like you basically love, love minor tours. So I was almost about to
say it before you. Yeah. Hand on heart. So I was like beastman, fucking beastman. I knew it.

(01:12:25):
I love a beastman. Yeah. I thought you were, they, they, they could be a really cool army
with their range refresh because I think they have some, some of the coolest aesthetics,
actually, like the beastman, the chaos beastman in 40 K,
a really cool model. So I don't know if you've seen that little kill team. I kind of tempted
by that kill team. Yeah. But like, I think that that would really suit you as an army.

(01:12:47):
Well, they're quite chunky. Yeah. They're quite chunky, quite quick. Yeah. Um, I've always loved
a beastman weirdly. Like, like, yeah, they're cool. They're cool. They're cool. They kind of suit my
play style as well. I'm not particularly subtle. They're not particularly subtle dragon ogres of
the tits. Is this, is that a beastman thing? What are those? Yeah. Yeah. Best of gores. Best of

(01:13:12):
gores. I think side gores. Bull men with like, they're minor tools. Yeah. But there's like a
giant one, isn't there? Like a, no, it's a shag off. Oh, shag off. Dragon ogre shag off is those lads.
They're great. He's got a massive axe, right? And he's like, the bottom is dragon ogre shag off.

(01:13:36):
Yeah. Yeah. And I'd make them, you know what I'd do? I'd make them a zeech cult. Really? That's
very cool. Because of the guy with the staff. What's his name? The minor saw looking dude.
Braze shamans? No, the big thick dude that's got like the scars like Illidan all over him. What's
he called? I don't know. Oh, it's going to annoy me now. I'm going to Google it. So are you talking

(01:14:00):
about the right range here? No, it's not from, it's from, I think you can use it. You used to be able
to use it for the case now an AOS thing. But I'm just trying to, yeah, but they've scoured beastman
from AOA. I know they have. I know. But there is, there is a, there's two models. One of them is
like those really big minor tour looking beastie dudes. But then there's like a spell caster version
of him with like, he sort of tattoos all over him with like a, he's got the staff. I want to,

(01:14:25):
I want to Google it and find out. Cause I'm a hundred percent sure it's a thing. I've seen
people paint really cool versions of him. Um, where the, and he's like a zeechie kind of guy,
a Kazeechie beast man. Um, I just can't. Oh, what the big fucks, like the real, real,
really character, the one that I'm thinking of. Oh no. So Cygors, Cygors, according to this,

(01:14:46):
a big old monsters. They're like, like massive. I mean, they're very cool. They hold like big
old fuck off rocks and they just like throw them at each other. Um, beastman spell caster. Let me
just, sorry everybody. Oh, I found it. Is it a therma-terge or something like that? Okay. Wow.
Therma-terge or something like that. Uh, I think it's something like that. I can't remember what

(01:15:08):
it is, but basically he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
what it is. But basically he's, he's got like a massive pair of horns. He's like a big bull man.
Um, oh yeah. He's not, he's not for, he's not for beastman, but no, I know he's not. He was,
he was a disciple of Zeke. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. He's a Zeke boy, but I'm saying

(01:15:29):
as you could use him as, as a proxy. Yeah. I mean, he's cool. Yeah. He's cool. He's really cool.
But like that sort of color scheme I would totally go with. I would totally go with that.
Like a Zeke. We're like a couple of old men were like, what's the code of that fucking guy? You
know? Yeah. So that's why I was really confused. Cause I, I, I, yeah. Yeah. Sure. I also love a

(01:15:50):
doon bull. Doon bulls are cool. Like the proper big, big brown. I think why, yes indeed. I think
I would go balls deep in Zeke beastman monsters and have a load of like Minotaur lads and the
doon bull. If I was to choose a second army. Oh come on, do it now. If I was to choose a second army,
by the way, like in terms of, you know, wish me an army, I think I would probably go with Tau

(01:16:16):
because I just want to complete all the Xenos armies and it would just be quite cool to have
a Tau army. Do you have orcs or not? Oh, no, I don't have orcs actually. That's a good point.
Orcs are another good one, but I think orcs again are another one that I wouldn't want to collect
until they've refreshed things like mega knobs. Just a little bit clunky. They're just a bit like,
they look like, so some of the new mega knob warboss guy, the warboss in mega armor, he looks

(01:16:41):
fucking cool. But then the old ones look like they're wearing cardboard boxes. So I just feel a
little bit like, yeah, they're all the same clothes. That's kind of part of their aesthetic. I know.
I like the aesthetic. I just think that they need sexier models. So yeah, waiting for that, I think.
I'm not going to touch orcs until that point. Same with Tau. That's fair. Well, there we go.

(01:17:03):
Like, but now see now that inception of seed of an idea is in my head. I want fucking Zici
Beastman there. Don't start. You've got enough projects to work on Russ. Way too many projects.
Way too many. You haven't even done your 10 stern guard yet. You simmer the fuck down,
get them done first before you start any beastman. You need to keep it in line.

(01:17:24):
It's because I want to be a Minotaur beastman. I know. I can see you with the big old
bad ones. I fucking knew it. I saw exactly where you were going with it. I was like, it's going to
be beastman. Just eat it. It was the tauron thing that tipped me off. Oh yeah, man. I love a tauron.
Big beefy bitch. Good choice. Right. Thank you. Thank you everyone for Q&A questions. It's awesome

(01:17:46):
that we can do a fucking Q&A episode. It's great. Yeah, we had some really good ones actually. Thank
you guys. Absolutely legends. Pop your next, if everyone please can pop their next Q and go mad,
like go fucking crazy. It also helps the algorithm daddy recognize our video to spam questions,
please for our next Q&A. If you enjoyed it, it might be like an episode that tanks in the tank

(01:18:07):
because no one really likes it, but I think Q&A episodes are always fun. And if you are in our
discord and then pop them in the topic suggestions or, you know, the, we've got some like channels

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
