SPEAKER_00 (00:01):
Hey beautiful
friends, it's Marni Martin, and
welcome to this episode of Lifeis Delicious.
I'm a multi-passionateentrepreneur, best-selling
author, foodie, and voiceoverartist, and I created the Life
is Delicious podcast with onesimple mission in mind, to help
(00:23):
you add more flavor to your lifeand to help you write your own
recipe for a life that feedsyour soul.
I'm so glad you're here.
First, before we get started, Iknow that it is a great big
noisy world out there and thefact that you have carved out a
little bit of time for yourselfto be here with me, it is truly
(00:46):
an honor.
And if you're new here, welcometo the Life is Delicious family.
This is going to be so much fun.
I created this podcast becauseover the past several years,
I've been dedicated to creatinga life that I love.
And let me tell you, it wasn'talways easy.
Back in 2016, I went through mysecond divorce.
(01:08):
And while I knew for sure thatwe were both going in different
directions and had come as faras we could together on this
journey, I was still prettylost.
I really had a vague idea ofwhat I wanted because I had
gotten pretty clear about what Ididn't want.
but I still spent the next fewyears letting go of a lot of my
old life without a clear pictureof what I truly wanted my new
(01:31):
life to look like or who Iactually wanted to be.
Over the next few years, Istruggled immensely with my
self-worth and my real place inthe world.
I switched careers, I was livingpaycheck to paycheck, and I was
up to my eyeballs in debt.
I went through some pretty heavypersonal challenges, and as a
result, I spent a lot of my timeliving in fear, lack and
(01:54):
discomfort.
I knew there had to be somethingbetter.
I think I'm really lucky becauseI was raised in a family that
always encouraged positivity.
And even from a young age, I wastaught that I was responsible
for my thoughts and that I wasable to change my life for the
better at any time.
I had a great support system andfamily, but I tend to be a
(02:15):
little bit of a lone wolf.
And during that time, I forgotsome of my true nature.
I forgot that I could ask forhelp.
I felt a lot of shame that Iwasn't thriving, and I was
afraid to admit that I wasstruggling.
So I promised myself that Iwould excavate that girl that I
once knew.
And I made it a practice everyday to pay attention to my
(02:35):
thoughts and actions, and Istarted writing every day about
the life I wanted to live andwho I wanted to become.
I have become incrediblypassionate about cultivating joy
in my life, and I have healedmyself from being a chronic
people-pleaser.
I've learned to set boundariesthat honor my needs.
And of course, as I've gottenolder, I just don't take as much
(02:57):
shit as I used to.
And listen, I don't claim tohave all the answers, because I
certainly don't.
But I wanted to start thisconversation because it's never
too late to change course, fallback in love with ourselves, and
remember who we truly are.
I'll be coming to you everyMonday with episodes on
everything from managing stressto calling in abundance.
(03:20):
to creating happy habits andenvironments that support a
happy life and everything inbetween.
Sometimes you and I will justhave a one-on-one
heart-to-heart.
And other times, I'll havepowerhouse guests, friends, and
experts who will join us toshine their light on you.
My motto here at Life isDelicious is ask better
(03:41):
questions, cultivate happyhabits, and live on purpose.
It is my hope that with eachepisode you will be inspired to
take action and create your ownrecipe for a life that feeds
your soul.
Because we deserve a big, juicy, delicious life.
I love this quote by Buddha.
(04:02):
A thousand candles can be litfrom a single candle and the
life of that candle will neverbe shortened.
Happiness never decreases bybeing shared.
There are tons and tons ofstudies that show that people
whose general default for joyand happiness practice similar
habits.
(04:23):
Here are a few happiness habitsthat you might find that you'd
like to add to your life.
Happy people tend to regularlyexamine their behavior through
journaling or meditation.
(04:44):
It is in our nature to be socialand to create connection with
others.
These relationships can be theone with ourself, with our loved
ones, friends, family,co-workers, and our extended
social circles.
Number three, the habit ofhealthy environments.
We're going to be doing a wholeepisode on this one.
(05:06):
But this can be the environmentof our mind, the thoughts and
words that we say to ourselves, the environment of our home.
our work environment, our socialenvironment, and so much more.
Number four, the habit ofdeliberate language.
This is a big one, and we'regoing to be doing a whole
episode on this as well.
(05:27):
This is the words we speak toourselves and to others.
The agreements we make withourselves, these agreements or
beliefs, good or bad, willcreate the lens from which we
view the world and everyone andeverything in it.
Number five, the habit ofgratitude.
Happy people generally look forreasons to be grateful in their
(05:49):
life.
They cultivate a habit ofgratitude and default to living
with a grateful heart.
Number six, the habit ofoptimism.
It is generally impossible tofeel optimism and worry at the
same time.
In general, happy people see theworld with a glass half full or
(06:09):
a silver lining type ofmentality.
Number seven, the habit ofkindness.
Generosity and giving back arethe usuals here.
They look for ways to be kindand to be of service and
generally enjoy giving toothers.
Number eight, the habit ofself-love and nurturing.
(06:30):
While we all have a tendency forself-sabotage and overly
critical thinking sometimes,Happy people generally look for
opportunities to be kind tothemselves, and they have habits
focused on recharging theirbatteries, doing self-care
practices, and they usually haveset at least some healthy
boundaries.
Number nine.
The habit of curiosity.
(06:51):
Instead of taking everything atface value, happy people tend to
ask questions like, what elsecould this mean?
And they seek to know more aboutthings before they form an
opinion.
Number ten.
The habit of growth.
This one speaks for itself.
Happy people in general look forways to better themselves and
(07:13):
their circumstances.
Number 11.
The habit of healthy boundaries.
Oh boy, this is a big one.
Although we've touched on thisin self-care, happy people get
clear about what makes themhappy and what doesn't and put
boundaries in place to honourtheir needs.
And number 12.
The habit of play.
(07:33):
Happy people regularly cultivatecreativity and have hobbies and
sports that take them out oftheir head and into their
bodies.
Brene Brown says that play is avital part of life as it helps
us to lose track of time, reducestress, and promote joy.
So there you have it.
I hope you found value in thisepisode.
(07:54):
And if you did, I hope you'llshare it with someone you love.
This is just the beginning, myfriends.
We have so much more to unpackas we go on this journey
together.

with an itch for somethinggreater, you want to live your
life with enthusiasm andexhilaration, you love to just
